I make it to the bus station, a few minutes early probably. It gives me enough time to say goodbyes to my friends and family. They've been with me through thick and thin, and now that I'm leaving, it's going to be a strange feeling. Of course, despite leaving them, a part of them will always be with me. They give me parting gifts and cards, and we share one last group photo together.

Finally, the bus arrives. I give a tearful goodbye as I step into the bus while the others cheer for me, yelling stuff like "Goodbye, Vivi!", "Good luck, girl!", and "We miss you already!" I chuckle at the last part. I couldn't agree more. The time has come to depart this lovely city and move into the city of music and dreams. Goodbye, Phangoria City! Hello, Vinyl City!

Whoooo-hooooo!

Our time has come

We're gonna walk in the sun

Oh, I've packed my hopes, we're ready to roll

We're on our way

With a little faith we can

Step from the shadows

And tell everyone

Turn the spotlight on

Now our time has come

You might be wondering who I am. I'm Vivi Firestar and I'm twenty years old. I probably look weird to you, but you tend to look weird to me, so let's keep it at that. I'm from a subspecies of humans that allow us to have traits like tails, wings, and horns. But, I'm still referred to as a human, because that's what I am. (Duh.) I have a light beige skin tone with brown hair tied as a bun (in a tomboyish style, mind you). My eyes are of a lighter brown color with beige pupils thinly-shaped like a small bird's feet. Even though my eyes are unusual to folks like you, they don't affect much of my eyesight or anything. It's more of a cosmetic trait that just gets passed down from generation to generation, changing slightly each time because that's how genetics work. I have a strong brown-furred tail with a dark fur extending from the end of it. Kinda like a lion's tail, but it's more "feather-like" in terms of appearance even though it's all fur. I got it from my dad's side of the family. He was part griffin; Mom was elvish, so that's why my ears are a little more pointed than average.

Our time has come

We're heading straight for the sun

Oh, we're heading with heart and soul, watch us go

We're on our way

With a little love we know

Nothing can stop us

So tell everyone

Turn the spotlight on

Now our time has come

I wear a grey shirt with a black tank top underneath. I wear a black choker around my neck, and matching fingerless gloves that stretch all the way to my elbows. I also painted my nails black. Yeah, I like black a lot. As a nice contrast, I wear bright blue jeans and a bright red hairclip near my bangs. My shoes are a dark grey color with the areas for the toes cut out. However, they have a red ring around the whole, and the heels for the shoes are red as well. I also wear three colorful bands around my tail. I have metal plates over my shoulder blades for whenever I need to use my cybernetic wings. I used to have organic wings, but y'know … shit happens.

Are you ready to wish upon a star? (Are you ready to follow your own heart?)

Follow your own heart

Are you ready to be set free? (Are you ready to reach out for that dream?)

For that dream

Just over the horizon

What do I like to do? I'm a musician, and I love playing the keytar. It's a lightweight synthesizer that is supported by a strap around the neck and shoulders, similar to the way a guitar is supported by a strap. It allows a greater range of movement onstage, compared to conventional keyboards, which are placed on stationary stands or which are part of heavy, floor-mounted structures. The keytar has a musical keyboard for triggering musical notes and sounds. Various controls are placed on the instrument's neck, including those for pitch bends, vibrato, portamento, and sustain. Pretty cool, right? Mine is red with white and pink areas here and there, and it's got colorful lights below the keys. At the end of a neck is a bit of string with a keychain attached to the end. The keychain is a large crimson bead with a bright red demon wing and a white angel wing on the sides.

We're on our way

With a little faith we can

Step from the shadows

And tell everyone

Turn the spotlight on

Now our time has come

I'm moving to Vinyl City to become a musician for a living. The place is a massive, high-tech city powered by music and is known as the music capital of the world. It used to have an energy problem but has since become well-powered thanks to the emergence of the record label and EDM empire No Straight Roads (or NSR for short) and their power source known as the Qwasa, a machine that converts music into power and distributes it through the whole city. Since then, music has been the main power source, and thus a wide-spread commodity. Vinyl City is split into districts. Many, if not all, are occupied and controlled by NSR's artists. A NSR-controlled district features their music, aesthetics, advertisements, and their stage where they perform their concerts. NSR Tower is situated in the heart of the city. I wonder what it's like to be a megastar for NSR; it's impressive how these artists can run entire districts of their own for Vinyl City. On one hand, that's really impressive. On the other hand, it must be a lot of pressure to make sure these districts are running well like a well-oiled clock. I'm curious to know how they do it so well.

Can you feel the power?

Now the day is ours

For you and I, there comes a time

To hold our heads high

We'll make a little history

Each time we dare to dream

Tell everyone

Turn the spotlight on

Now our time has come

So far, I've been riding this bus for the last three hours, aside from the occasional pit stops. Phangoria City is really far away from Vinyl City. I would've taken a plane, but it's cheaper and more exciting this way. Don't get me wrong – it's not like I have debt or anything from two years of college. This is just a preference of mine; also, the nearest airport is quite far from where I used to live; it'll take at least an hour to get to that airport, and going through that security stuff is a hassle. Thus why I'm taking the bus.

Our time has come

We're gonna walk in the sun

Oh, I've packed my hopes, we're ready to roll

We're on our way

We'll make a little history

Each time we dare to dream

Tell everyone

Turn the spotlight on

Now our time has come

Now our time has come~

Three more hours later, I finally make it to Vinyl City. Grabbing my bags, I take a bold step out of the bus and watch it depart. I look at the spectacular view of the city. It's so massive, grander than I thought! And from behind the buildings stand NSR tower. Looks like I'll be working for them one day, and I'll make every step in the way worthwhile.
