Skit: The friend that's always forgetting something

Time was of the essence. Ram and Subaru were making their way to the capital to meet up with Roswaal for important business, and Ram wanted nothing more than to get there as quickly as possible.

However, she had to deal with Barusu.

Standing at the doorway, barely stopping the need to tap her foot on the ground, was the pink oni.

[Ram]: "Alright Barusu, I am ready to go. You didn't forget anything, did you? We don't need you causing problems before we even get there, and don't forget that metia Roswaal-sama told you to bring."

[Subaru]: "Huh? Oh, I always have my phone, nee-sama. Wait, hold on. I forgot my jacket!"

Missing from the boy's attire was his trademark black and orange jacket. Only a Barusu could be so forgetful. She scoffed and mumbled something under her breath. Had he no tact?

[Ram]: "Typical Barusu…"

With his jacket in tow, the knight of the Emilia faction returned with haste.

[Subaru]: "Alright, I'm ready to–"

Stopping to pat down his jacket, Subaru noticed his phone wasn't there like usual. Did he leave it with Beatrice?

[Subaru]: "I actually did leave my metia. Hold on a second!"

Spinning on his heels, Subaru dashed back up three whole flights of stairs to get to his room. Ram could tell it was going to be a long trip.

O O O

[Subaru]: "O-Okay Ram. I'm re… ready."

Panting from all the exertion, Subaru arrived with his phone on hand. Beatrice was caught playing with it and fiddling around with the camera, or in her eyes, the feature that 'captured a moment in time' as he had put it.

[Ram]: "You ready now Barusu? You've wasted enough of our and Roswaal-sama's time."

[Subaru]: "He's not even here though! Ah, whatever. Yeah, let's go."

In a matter of minutes they were off! Straight to the capital, no turning back. Another quest in another world had begun. Subaru had taken the reins while Ram rested inside. Since Roswaal wasn't here to give her mana like usual, she had felt a bit more tired lately. As long as Barusu could drive the cart correctly, there shouldn't be any problems.

The carriage was moving smoothly; they had just passed Arlam village. It was unfortunate that they couldn't stop by to say hello.

After a few minutes a firm knock came from the little sliding door that led to the driver's seat.

[Ram]: "Pervert."

[Subaru]: "Ack! I heard that!"

The black-haired boy slid open the mini door, prepared to get into their usual antics.

[Subaru]: "Ah, forget it. Anyway, we… we uh… we need to turn around."

Ram cursed, forgoing the pleasantries since no one else was around. Why did she let him drive? They were already forty minutes away from the manor for crying out loud.

[Ram]: "Idiot. What'd you forget this time?" Her patience was not going to last much longer at this rate.

Subaru chuckled. It was funny, really. How could he have forgotten something so important?

[Subaru]: "I forgot Patrasche. Crazy, right."

He forgot what?!

P-P-P-Patrasche!

Ram leaped to one of the windows. She opened it, the hinges almost flying off from her demon strength. She leaned out far, and I mean far to get a good look at the front of the carriage.

And he was right, Patrasche wasn't there.

[Subaru]: "I knew it. I knew I forgot something. This doesn't make any sort of sense. Did I not see her not here?" He muttered to himself, genuinely surprised he had left something so critical as to leave his traveling mount behind. He was holding onto the reins, but they weren't actually attached to anything.

Ram's brain had to reboot itself for a moment.

[Ram's inner thoughts]: "What in the Od? Where was Patrasche when the carriage set off? Oh my– and Barusu hardly realizes the scope of what he's done. [Redacted], I am perplexed. How did that happen? How does the carriage still have the Divine Protection of Wind Evasion?"

She had noticed it when she looked out the window, but the divine protection was still in effect. What the hell was going on? They were traveling 40 miles an hour! (65km/h).

[Ram]: "H-Hold on, Barusu… How do we stop?"

[Subaru]: "Ah…"

That was a very good question.
