The seconds ticked by endlessly as she stood still. The colorful mix of red, green and yellow blurred her eyes as the lights became nothing more than blobs. Despite all the noises of the city, all she could hear was a constant ring.
Her arms and legs felt like weights, constantly dragging her down. She stood still, even against the winds' wails and cries that battered her small form.
She was tired. So, very, very tired. Of everything. Her tears had long run dry yet this overwhelming feeling was still there. It had wrapped itself around her heart like a snake and every day, it got tighter. Until she couldn't bear it anymore. She wanted it to just go away. Even for a second. For everything to go away.
A light tingling sensation ran down her forearm as she managed to inch her leg forward. She had done this a thousand times, yet every instinct was screaming at her to stop. Her body has never had such an adverse reaction to anything.
Once upon a time, she would've gleefully stepped off without hesitation, letting the adrenaline rush through her ears. Of course, she would stop herself before hitting the ground, letting her magnetism fight against gravity.
Now, it daunted her. But it was the only way. For everything to vanish. The coward's way out.
Another inch.
Her heart thumped in her chest. She was close to the ledge. Just another inch.
Just another inch and it would all be over.
Maybe.
She promised herself that if her body automatically tried to stop it, then she would never attempt it again.
She slowly exhaled and lifted her leg again.
And fell down.
