Paw Patrol Xtra Shorts
Short seven: A Blaming for Gas
Flare and Snow were in the living room playing video games with Snow getting annoyed at how badly she was losing. It was some kind of fighting game, and Flare was making it clear that he was having a blast as Snow started whining angrily at how good he was doing. "Flare, stop spamming!"
"Learn to block." Flare successfully defeated Snow once again, making her infuriated as Flare pumped his fist with joy. "Yes!" Snow then started groaning angrily while clenching her fists, and as she strained in anger...
pfft
...the Husky flinched as a squeaky, green clouded fart with a liver scent left her rear end. Causing Flare to start snickering as Snow then tried to make it seem as if he was the one who farted. "C-Cmon Flare; we're sitting right here!
Flare then laughed a bit as she called Snow out on her lackluster attempt to pass the blame. "That wasn't me! It was you!"
"Then why did I just call you out?" Snow asked while crossing her arms, still embarrassed about her flatulence, even if it wasn't that big.
"Unless we swapped butts, I don't know." Flare cheekingly replied, causing Snow to growl in frustration as she looked away. Flare then saw Snow's blush turn brighter and decided to make her feel better, crawling over to her with a cheeky grin as he whispered into her ear. 'Hey Snow. You wanna know something even grosser than a squeaker?" Snow looked at Flare with confusion as the Dalmatian suddenly released...
PHHHHHHHHHHT
...a loud and bassy, five second fart that reeked of moldy cheese and surrounded the entire right side of the couch, which is where he was sitting. Snow then gagged as she got a whiff of it, finding that Flare's little gas burst wasn't helping. "Come on Flare! At least light a candle!"
"For what? I didn't do anything." Flare playfully denied with a cheeky grin, leaving Snow to realize what he was doing, and she then started laughing. She wasn't anywhere near as big of a fan of farting as Chase and Zuma were, but it was clear that Flare was trying to help her feel comfortable with doing it herself.
Snow was also quick to ask about this when she realized that Flare was messing around with her in an attempt to make her feel better. "So is this something you're gonna be doing now that we've saved Everest? Fart to cheer people up?"
"Probably not. That sounds more like a Chase or Zuma thing." Flare admitted, knowing that Chase and Zuma were probably the best for fart related stuff. He then put his paws behind his head as he asked why Snow struggled to own up to her own farts. "Why do you try blaming other people for your farts anyway? It's not like it's something that's exclusive to specific dogs. Or dogs in general really."
Snow sighed, knowing that her explanation probably wouldn't make much sense to someone like Flare. She figured he would at least try to though, so she told him anyway. "You know how I spent fifteen months trying to get Everest back?" Flare nodded his head yes, and Snow then expressed her desire to be taken seriously. "Ever since I started looking for her, I've hated it when people look down on me, or call me a kid, or think I can't hold my own. So I try to keep myself from doing the sort of thing that would earn me that rank, like farting in front of my teammates or asking dumb questions."
Flare scooted over to Snow as he thought about what she was saying, unsure if anything like that would make people take her less seriously. "I don't think that'd happen. Chase is pretty much a walking fart factory, and people always take HIM seriously."
"Do you see me acting as everyone's therapist and going up against elite Charm soliders like it's nothing?" Snow asked snarkily, and Flare had to admit that he didn't see Snow doing that. This further proved her point, or so she thought. "Don't get me wrong Flare; I don't want people to start calling me 'ma'am' or 'captain' or whatever. I just want them to take me seriously. I want them to see that I'm more than some seven year old Husky who finally found her sister."
Flare could sense what Snow was feeling right now, and put a paw on her shoulder for comfort. She didn't say it outright, but Flare could tell she was feeling it. "You blame yourself for Everest being taken by Charm, right?" Snow flinched and looked at Flare, who then smiled as he expressed what he thought about the situation. "I can't say I have a say in that since I wasn't there, but I CAN say what Everest thinks. I've seen the way she's treated you since she joined the team, and not once did she make it look like she blames you for what happened."
Snow wasn't sure what to say to that. She was actually surprised Flare was able to catch onto that. It seemed feeling people's emotions was a specialty for him. "And if you need some factual closure, then try talking to her about it. She'd know best, right?"
Snow couldn't help but tear up with joy, and Flare took notice as she thanked him. "Thanks Flare." Snow happily hugged Flare, who wrapped his arms around her as she whispered into his ear. "Anyone would be lucky to have you as a friend." This made Flare smile as well. It was clear that Snow was feeling better now. Funny how a conversation about farting led to a very heartfelt moment between the two.
