Chapter 58 Saving Luna Part 1

Ash and Pikachu walk outside the maze to find that the Team Meteor Grunts walking in the maze trying to block him. Ash grits his teeth as the whole scene reminds him of the day when both he and his mother were killed.

?: Hold it right there!

Ash gasps as he is found out by a Meteor grunt, but what the grunt says confused him.

?: Was that convincing?

Ash sees that the grunt is actually his father in disguise, much to his relief.

Radomus: Regardless, it seems to have been enough to fool them. Didn't I say before- Choose the right hat for the right job? Of course, one might wonder just how I had such an outfit as this in the first place. It almost makes me look suspicious. Now quickly, follow me.

Ash follows his father as they reach a dead end, and Radomus turns to Ash.

Radomus: I cannot stay long, but allow me to leave you with some clarity. As you must have heard, they have captured Luna. Unfortunately, I lacked the foresight to teach Luna to Teleport as well. Though if I could... More importantly, it would appear my gambit with Elias has not paid off. After all, a normal Hypnosis only lasts so many turns, no? It would take a fierce power to play beyond those means, and we may only hope that no such things exist. Yet, it appears the logical conclusion has left him unmoved. Still, I can predict his next move.

Ash: Really, Dad? Where is he?

Radomus: I suspect she will be somewhere around 7th Street in Reborn City. For reasons of my own, I must make myself scarce at present. Your mother is already heading there, but I need to ask you to go in my stead. If you can't find that place, I suggest you contact someone who's a bit more familiar with the city's back-alley dealings. A gang leader in the city of some sort should suffice. Do you know anyone like that?

Ash: (Realizes something) I know the Aqua Gang Leader.

Radomus: I see...On another note, I'll beseech you to allow me to keep this Amethyst Pendant a bit longer. I heard a story once about these 'keys' being purchased from a traveling merchant. I wonder who that might have been? As we said before, not all is black and white, or dark and light. Wrong is sometimes right. In is often out. And sometimes up may be the only way down. All you need to do is read between the lines- Or rather, walk between them. Until we meet again, adieu.

Ash nods as Radomus teleports himself away, revealing a stairway for Ash to walk on top of the maze. Ash notices how many grunts are there, and he is relieved that he doesn't need to fight his way through.

Once he gets to the alleyway in Lapis Ward, he manages to find Archer, then he asks Archer about 7th Street.

Archer: Huh, you're looking for 7th Street? Of course, you're not going to find it if you look up here. 7th Street isn't just a normal street, you know. You've probably noticed already, but the street numbers in Reborn don't quite add up. In Peridot, there's 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th... And then Opal Bridge takes up 5th and 6th. But in the Obsidia Ward, the next one is the 8th.

Ash: Seriously? Then what about the 7th?

Archer: There's the secret: 7th Street is the name of what is essentially Reborn City's black market. Most people don't even know about it, but fortunately, we're not most people. We can definitely help you out. You'll find our secret entrance in the apartment on 3rd and Dahlia. No problem at all.

Ash nods as he searches for the apartment on 3rd and Dahlia, and when he enters, the staff member lets Ash go as he is listed as a new member of the apartment, so he enters the elevator and heads to 7th Street.

When Ash arrives at 7th Street, Ash is surprised to see how many stores are there, but he knows why it is a Black Market. He wants to check out the place, but Luna needs to be saved. Fortunately, there are some Aqua Gang members who can help him out. They all tell him that they see someone suspicious in the Water Hole, so they go check it out, only to find no one inside there. But just as he walks out of the hole, he notices Bennett walking into a room.

Ash: Bennett? What's he doing here?

When he chases after Bennett, he notices Ash and greets him.

Bennett: I had a feeling you were following me. But of all people, I never expected to see you down here, Ash. Then again, I suppose this isn't the sort of place someone like me would choose to be either. I was asked to go get some supplies for a certain procedure, so it couldn't be helped. Of course, they would be cross with me if someone followed me back, but I must return posthaste, for Luna's sake.

Ash: Speaking about Luna, I'm finding her because she is kidnapped by El, since you're studying with him to be an Elite Four member, surely you know where he is?

Bennett: Oh? You are also trying to help Luna? I see. In that case, there should be no problem. The entrance to our chamber is actually hidden down here, but I'll go ahead and leave the way open for you. It's just right outside; you won't be able to miss it.

Ash nods as he rushes towards the door, and he finds himself under the Beryl Ward. When he continues to move forward, he finds himself inside some sort of temple-like place. Just then, Ash is surrounded by people in some sort of cultist uniform, and Elias appears behind him.

Ash: Bennett, what's the meaning of this?

Bennett: Sorry about this, Ash. That is, Elias actually asked me to let you in here. But you actually thought I was doing something dumb, didn't you? It figures. Most people don't seem to think very highly of me. Which, I suppose, is typical of a person who prefers the company of bugs to that of people. Ah, please do not mistake my standoffishness, shall we say, for any personal disdain. I am merely doing what is best for my future, and for Luna.

Elias: And you have done well, Bennett. Continue your diligence, and I will surely secure a position in the Elite Four for you.

Bennett: Of course. Thank you, sir.

Elias: Although I originally intended only to ask for his help in finding Luna, Bennett has proven a surprisingly useful assistant.

Bennett: Naturally. I also would do anything for Luna. This ceremony you spoke of will be beneficial to her, you said?

Elias: Indeed, it is a necessary step for her emotional and spiritual well-being. We will begin shortly. Until then, please see that Ash is confined safely in the dungeon. We shall deal with that annoyance later.

Bennett suddenly has the people grab Ash tight.

Ash: Hey! Let go of me!

Bennett: Then, Ash, if you would follow me? Not that you have much of a choice with our numbers.

Ash sighs as he finds himself in a prison cell, and he can't believe he is captured by Elias of all people. He notices a book on the floor as he reads it.

"Rebirth and the New World" "When one door closes, another opens. And there shall come a day, as is foretold by the prophets of old, and on that day, it shall come to pass: Our world shall end. 'Light shall consumeth all within its cleansing fires.' - Arceus 23-3 From its ashes, a New World shall begin. Nascor, Nasci, Natus, the Lord Arceus."

Ash is confused about the numbers in the end, but then he hears someone talking to him.

?: Is that some pages I hear turnin' over there?

Ash: Who is there?

Randall: Howdy, friend. Name's Randall, how's you? Y'know, they keep me down here a few days. But I actually don't mind. I mean, at least they's feedin' us, right? I get better food in this cell than I did on the streets. Not that that's sayin' much, but I can't rightly say I'm hatin' it. They's kind enough to give us some educational reading, too. Don't do me no difference even if it is all a buncha religionous heebyjeeby. Keeps me from gettin' bored... and goin' back to the candy. Aah, that ain't neither here nor there. I figure I'll just enjoy their hospitabatality for a few days while I detox, and then head right on out.

Ash: I see...But I need to get out, I have to save Luna from being captured by Elias...

Randall: Them guards ain't listenin', rightly? See, truth be told, I could let myself outta here whenever I want. Wanna see why?

Ash is confused, but then he sees a Klefki in front of his prison cell, and he just opens the door for him, much to his shock.

Randall: Good work, buddy. See, Klefki here just happened to pick up somethin' what is a sorta 'Master Key' to this place. Mighty lucky, that one, huh? I'll just scoot on out whenever I get bored, but I imagine you is more interested in escape than me. So there you go, partner.

Ash: Thanks, Randall.

Randall: Oh hey, if you're plannin' on runnin' out, there's a couple stuffs you oughta know. Firstly, there's a Mukload of people patrollin' up on the floor above us. I'd recommend not trying to fight them all yourself. Probably best just to sneak past 'em. But, if you do get caught again... my buddy's got your back. Secondly, personal recommenadadation: If you sees any books lyin' out and about, y'might wanna check 'em out. I mean some of these are pretty fuckin' funny. "Arceus will save us all"? Pshaw, it's a Pokémon. These guys is nuts. It's great. Anyway, go knock yourself out.

Ash nods as he leaves the prison cell and goes to the upper floor, and Ash and Pikachu try not to get caught by the people there. When they get into a room, he finds a lot of books lying on the ground.

"Charge of the Faithful" So be it the duty of all, human and Pokémon alike: "Bestow light upon thy brethren; give sight to the blind and life to the lost. Arceus shall grant thee favor in the New World." - Arceus 12-3

"The Lord's Blessing" "From the darkness, from stardust, from the memories of eons passed and visions of eons yet to come, from these things did the Lord Arceus mold the heavens, the Earth, and all that walk upon it." - Arceus 2-4

"In Worship of the Lord" Praise the Lord. Worship the Lord. Bequeath thy soul unto the Lord, that he might cleanse thee of thy impurity. "All shall be white before the eyes of the Lord Arceus." - Arceus 16-5

"Remnants of the New World" When our Lord Arceus had at last finished crafting the world from stardust, what then should the divine do with the remnants of immaterial? These forgotten fragments of reality have been sealed away in the Sacred Land. Behind stone doors, four pillars of light bind the New World to a shadow of our own. Yet, the sleeping legend remains. "The Lord Arceus shall come again. The New World, too, shall be Reborn." - Arceus 38-27

"Light's End" "So kind was light to show us mercy, that in its shade we festered heresy. Twixt three stones, each shaded void, six pillars shone, their truth deployed: Emerald, Crimson, Violet, Gold, Azure, and Ivory seal as told. Take heed of its prison, o ye foolish men, for the blackest beast lies at light's end."

"Arceus' Call" "Our Father, fallen from heaven, honored be thy name, your kingdom, born, this world, forlorn. The New World shall become thy heaven." - Arceus 7-1

Ash: I guess this is all the books we can find here...

Ash also spots a Field Note as he picks it up.

Field Note 29 Holy Field:

Ash: Nature Power becomes Judgement? That is ridiculous... And all those moves listed are actually moves from Legendary Pokemon. How does this field effect knows those things?

Ash shakes his head as he leaves the place, hoping not to get caught by the others.

Here is the first part of the two-part chapter of saving Luna. I hope you like this chapter.
