Monopoly game
- Ah! You're at my place, Dean! That will be 1000 dollars!
Dean looked like he was choking.
- How much?!
Sam answered him with a big satisfied smile and waved his forefinger in the direction of a small red plastic house.
- A thousand dollars, Dean. I built a hotel, remember?
Dean glared at him but finally reluctantly handed him a handful of colored bills, muttering something like "... scammer... that's outrageous...".
It was Castiel's turn to roll the dice and then move his pawn forward, well... some kind of crushed piece of plastic that could possibly look like a pawn. From a distance. In the fog. Dean hadn't been able to find out where Castiel had found this thing, but he had finally given up the debate as the angel insisted that this "pawn" looked a bit like a bird, and that for this reason, he would use it and not one of those "unsightly pieces of crudely machined plastic" present in the box.
So Castiel moved his "pawn" forward and stopped on Vermont Avenue, which was one of the few properties that did not yet have houses or hotels. The angel considered the small spot with squinted eyes, unsure of what to do.
- This spot looks free. (He turned to Dean, his eyebrows still furrowed) Dean, can I purchase this property?
Dean let out a small laugh and gently ruffled his hair. Then he turned to Sam.
- Hey, Sammy, can Cas buy Vermont Avenue?
- No problem. It'll cost you a hundred bucks, Cas.
The angel handed him two purple bills and took the small cardboard title card in exchange.
It was Sam's turn to roll the dice. Dean rubbed his hands together with an evil smile. His brother was about to cross a very sensitive area of the plateau, namely the series of green properties that Dean had dearly acquired, and on which he had taken care to install so many houses that anyone who ventured onto one of the properties would owe him at least two thousand dollars. That is to say, enough to make up for the outrageous scam of which he had been victim.
The two dice rolled across the board, skirted the stack of chance cards, slowed down as they approached one of Cas' houses and ended up right under Dean's nose. Showing a dreaded total of...
- Two?!
Dean snarled, biting his lips in rage as Sam, grinning ear to ear, slowly moved his pawn forward the number of squares indicated.
Dean was enraged. One more square, just one, and he could have fleeced his brother. Just one more square! He glared at the dice as Cas announced, vaguely perplexed:
- I think you need to go to jail, Sam.
Indeed, his pawn had arrived just on the "Go to jail" square, next to the famous green properties. The hunter confirmed with a nod, and let out a little chuckle as Dean ranted and raved. Castiel finally noticed his distress and put a hand on his shoulder.
- It is only a game, Dean, calm down...
The remark only made Sam's smile bigger and Dean pointed him with a threatening index finger.
- As soon as you get out of jail, I swear I'm not going to miss you.
Sam nodded, biting his lips to keep from laughing. This game of Monopoly was definitely a good idea!
Thanks for taking the time to read, I hope you enjoyed it :)
PS: Kudos to those who get the "that's outrageous" reference!
