Chapter 91 Coral Ward Gym Battle

After getting back to the Coral Ward, they head to Adrienn's Gym and find Adrienn inside.

Adrienn: You're back! I just finished assigning the last of our volunteers. We've gotten so many, and it's all thanks to you! I'm astounded! But then, exceeding expectations does seem to be your strong point. Thank you so, so much for your help!

Ash: No problem.

Adrienn: It must have been really challenging to go out and look for all of those people. Here, please take these as a thank you from me.

Then Ash is given Wide Glasses, an Ability Capsule, and a Star Piece as a prize, and he puts it away.

Adrienn: Well, then I guess it's time. I'll take my place in the arena. Take yours whenever you're ready to battle. I'll be waiting!

Ash nods as he sees Adrienn leaves to xyr position, Serena and Lillie also go to their stands and going to cheer him on. As for Ash, he looks at the telecom, but now that Ame's gone, he is a little sad. When he opens it, the one who answers is no other than Victoria.

Victoria: Ash? Okay, how do I steer this thing? Can you hear me? Ame used to give advice to challengers using these things, right?

Ash: My mom as well, but I guess she's busy to let you use it instead?

Victoria: Sorry about that, because of the volunteers from Adrienn. I'll try to see if I can help you, okay? Though admittedly, after what we've just been through, this is a little strange. I don't know too much about Adrienn's team or fighting style, but I have heard that xe fights in Doubles, so be ready for that! And I heard a little bit about xyr Gym when some of the students from Apophyll were helping rebuild it. Apparently, Adrienn designed it to switch tactics in the middle of a fight. You can probably already see the Mist in there, but the atmosphere xe constructed aside from that is enough to power up xyr Pokémon regardless. You might not want to count on just blowing it away. But then, you might have to be ready for that to happen anyway. Timing and adaptability should be key, so really think about when you'll use your strongest Pokémon. That's all I have for you. Good luck!

Ash: Blowing away...what does that actually mean?

Then Ash walks towards the stand and is facing Adrienn.

Adrienn: Even if you're the Champion-to-be, don't think I'm gonna hold back! I wanna really enjoy this! Okay, Ash! Are you ready for our long-awaited match?

Ash: You bet!

Adrienn: Yes! I've been looking forward to this ever since we met! Okay, "Champion"! Picture this! You're in your palace at the Hall of Champions! A new Trainer, Adrienn, has just blown through all of the Elite Four. Xe intends to challenge and claim your title! Now you have to fight to defend your honor! Although the roles are reversed right now, this is still a defining step on that adventure, so come at me with all of that same spirit! Show me what Reborn's future Champion looks like!

Serena: Well, Ash is the Alola Champion, so I guess he already knows how to picture this?

Lillie: I guess so.

Then Adrienn sends out Granbull named Eolande and a Gardevoir named Kailen, Ash notices that the field is still the Misty Terrain, so that means he can still use Fire Types. So Ash goes for Chandelure and Seviper for the first battle. Granbull goes for Earthquake, which deals a lot of damage to both Chandelure and Seviper, and because of the field, Chandelure can't use Will-o-Wisp. Ash has Chandelure go for Shadow Ball on Gardevoir, but the damage doesn't seem to do much.

Ash: What is going on right now...Chandelure isn't going to do well on this field...

Then Ash has Seviper go for Poison Tail, slamming into Gardevoir, but Gardevoir uses Dazzling Gleam to blind them and let Granbull do the Rock Slide. Chandelure faints in the end first, so Ash has to go with Steelix next. Steelix goes for Iron Tail, knocking out Granbull before it can go for Earthquake once more. The third Pokemon is Whimsicott named Pryderi, and it goes for Tailwind, causing the Misty Field to disappear and become the Fairy Tale Field.

Serena: So that's the Fairy Tale Field!

Lillie: But now Fire Types are treated as Dragon Types, and that means Ash's Fire Types are not going to do anything on this field!

Ash: But my Steel Type moves are going to do a lot of damage as well. Gyro Ball!

Steelix slams into Gardevoir, causing it to faint in the end, but Adrienn seems to know this and goes for Hurricane, also defeating the Seviper. Ash's fourth Pokemon is Bisharp while Adrienn goes for Togekiss named Orin. Togekiss lands an Aura Sphere, knocking out the Steelix, so Ash has to go with Pikachu for the fifth Pokemon. Both Pokemon keep using Dazzling Gleam, but Bisharp dodges an Aura Sphere and lands a Poison Jab on Whimsicott, knocking it out.

Adrienn: I haven't had a battle this exhilarating in ages - even by my twisted timeline.

The fifth Pokemon is Mawile named Ophine, and much to Ash's surprise, Adrienn also Mega Evolves the Pokemon, and it lands a Rock Slide, trying to make Pikachu flinch, and Togekiss goes for an Aura Shpere while Bisharp lands a Slash attack, causing both to get knocked out at the same time. Adrienn's final Pokemon is Florges named Rhyannon, and Ash decides to go for Melmetal.

Lillie: Melmetal! Ash is getting serious with the battle...

Adrienn: What is that? I have never seen it before.

Ash: You'll be able to see its power.

Pikachu goes for Iron Tail, but Florges goes for Nature Power, which turns into Secret Sword and deals a lot of damage to Melmetal, but Florges is easily defeated by Melmetal's Double-Iron Bash. As for Mawile, with Pikiachu and Melmetal's Thunderbolt and Thunder Punch, it is also defeated.

Adrienn: Ah, I knew I was right to count on you. (Recalls both Pokemon) And there it is! The Champion keeps their throne another day! And of course, the challenger wins. (Walks towards Ash) There, you'll find a present from me: your well-earned Amaranth Badge!

Ash notices a box and opens it, finding the badge inside, he takes it and he has his fourteenth badge.

Adrienn: The Amaranth Badge promises that all Pokémon up to level 85 will listen to you faithfully. Not bad for a Champion to have, I think. And now, I think it's time to come back to reality. There's still a lot that both of us need to do. Your Mother, Victoria, and I will take care of everything here in the city, but that means we're counting on you to take care of Team Meteor. Just a little bit ago, I was notified that Grandview Station has reopened. Although the tickets out of the region will probably sell pretty quickly, I've put in a special order with them for you.

Ash: Wait, that means we can go back to the other regions, or have people from the other regions come here...

Adrienn: Yes. If you go there, they can take you into the Tourmaline Desert. No charge to you, of course. If what I've heard is right, then not only is your next Badge there, but one of the crystal keys as well. It's best if you can get to all of those before Team Meteor does.

Ash: So that means my next gym battle is against Titania...not only that, Team Meteor will also go there and get the Saphhire Bracelet...

Adrienn: As I'm sure you know, there's a lot that I have to do too, so I'll take my leave now. Please know that this challenge has been a pleasure, and I will always be cheering for you.

Ash nods, and then Serena and Lillie rush to Ash and hug him for his victory, Ash smiles at them as they all leave the gym and head back to the Grand Hall.

In the Grand Hall, Ash hears about the three Short-term projects awaiting founding, the first one is rebuilding the slums area from the ground up, the plan is to convert this area into a low-income housing district and resource center with community gardening and job-finding resources. The second is plan is looking at reinforcing underground structures and rebuilding an efficient inter-city subway system, and the final plan will be restarting the Reborn Pokémon Reintroduction Project with a brand-new fully furnished facility on Azurine Island.

Serena: So Ash, what do you want to do first?

Ash: I'll start with the Underground Subway System.

Then after donating 100000$ money, the staff is going to cover the project, as for Ash, he rushes down to the employee area and finds Delia, also talking about the funding.

Delia: I see that you're helping to fund the projects.

Ash: Yeah, my money from the Alola and in the Reborn is just enough to cover some projects. I just hope you're not mad at for me to waste money.

Delia: Don't worry. I'm happy that you're willing to help others.

Then he also finds a person who needs help with the Starter Eggs, since there aren't any breeders around the Reborn, the Starter Pokemon needs to be shipped to Reborn every time. And now they're having a shortage, that's why Ash decides to volunteer to collect the Starter Pokemon eggs for her. Since the region is reopened, Ash manages to contact the breeders from the other regions to send the eggs to the lady. It takes some time, but Ash will let her know once the eggs arrive.

And then he has heard a problem from the Underground Railnet about some Pokemon gathering around there, so Ash has to go to the entrance from Byxbysion Wasteland to check out the problem and stop it. It turns out to be a bunch of Aron, Lairon, and Aggron, and they have been using Earthquakes to make bits of rocks fall to the ground. So Ash has a hard time defeating all of them because they have the ability, Sturdy.

Lillie: Who knows that in this field, the ability Sturdy, the field Cave, and the item Custap Berry can be a good combination to knock out your Pokemon...

Ash: Yeah...this is really bad...

Then they also find the same Magikarp Salesman trying to sell them the Magikarp. Ash thinks that he doesn't have a Gyarados, but when he is about to purchase it, a man comes and steals the Magikarp. Then they have to chase the man, only to find that the Magikarp he stole has already been stolen by others, first a kid in the Obsidia Slums, then a Magma Gang member and an Aqua Gang member, and then in the 7th Street Black Market, and then a man named Corin Rogue, who has been trying to trick Ash by using disguises, and then jumps on the train that goes to the Tourmaline Desert, much to Ash's frustration. Ash knows that he will get him eventually, so he will be going there and capture him.

Now Ash, Serena, and Lillie are at the Grandview Station since Ash is going to leave for Tourmaline Desert.

Serena: Are you sure you don't want us to come with you, Ash?

Ash: I'm afraid I have to do this alone. Serena, Solaris has seen your strength, no doubt he would target you as well, and Lillie. I want you to protect her as well. I can handle fine in the Tourmaline Desert.

Lillie: Just please come back safely...

Ash nods as they share a hug with each other, before Ash boards the train to Tourmaline Desert.

And here is the new chapter, Ash gets the fourteenth gym badge from Adrienn, and now he is heading for Tourmaline Desert for Titania and the Sapphire Bracelets. I hope you like this chapter.
