If you ever asked about the Starr family no one would really know what to say, they were different they had always been different.

The original father of the family had been a foundling who had risen through the Jedi ranks, before the code was put into effect. He had a family,a wife and children so when they instated the jedi code he rebelled along side some others.

But he did it differently he went to the council and made a deal. His family would train as Gray Jedi the first twelve years of their lives. Then they would be sent to the council where they would train under masters and follow the rules for the rest of their training years. At the end they would choose which cloak to take up.

Thus, the Starr family lived a happy life down through the years. Some choosing the gray cloak, others taking the path of a Jedi.

At one point two sons were born to the family, both chose the Gray cloak, both got married and had families. But when the eldest and his wife went on a mission for his former master, they were killed.

Kylos the younger son was devastated at his brother's death, and knew he had to take on his niece. In his eyes this was the fault of the council, but what could he do.

Kylos wife was a kind, but fierce woman named Glade that Kylos had found half dead in the caves of Illum. The force had called her there and she has gone uncertain what it meant. She had been exiled from her planet for being force sensitive and had nowhere else to go. The two had fallen in love and were married.

They had two children of their own, their son Cosmos and their daughter Galaxy, adding Ember his brothers child into the middle of the mix was the perfect balance for their children who both adored the girl.

Cosmos was the first sent away to the temple on Coruscant, he was taken on by Mace Windu as Padawan. He was strong in the force but was often breaking rules, and felt like their was something else out there meant for him.

Then Ember went arriving just in time for the padawan tournaments and thus her story began.

Ember followed her uncle quickly through the crowds it was time for the tournament. Here she would either be chosen or sent elsewhere to say she was nervous was an understatement.

Her uncle and aunt had trained her, what if they didnt train her according the the standards of the Jedi.

"While worry is a normal feeling my niece, we should not allow it to overcome us... Besides is your cousin not the padawan of one of the strongest Jedi on the council?"

Her uncle had stopped to look at her and she glanced down under his gaze in shame. It was true her cousin was a strong padawan and yet she was doubting her uncles skills.

"I'm sorry Uncle"

Kylos smiled reaching out to lift his nieces chin

"One last lesson.. never ever let your head hang down.. You are stronger then you know, never forget that.. Promise me Ember!"

"I promise Uncle Ky"

The two turned to continue on their way when all of a sudden Ember felt something like she never had before. A connection in them force blinding and painful, yet soothing at the same time.

About that time a voice rang out

"Kylos my friend!"

Kylos turned with a smile on his face it the familiar voice of his best friend from his days as a Padawan

"Qui Jon! How are you?"

The two friends moved forward shaking hands with each other, but Embers eyes were on the boy beside the man her uncle was speaking to. He was looking at her as well a curious expression on his face. Because although he wouldn't admit it for years to come he had felt the strange connection as well.

"This must be your daughter."

Kylos shook his head "This is my niece Ember... Ember this is Qui Jon Gin he was my good friend when we were Padawans."

Qui Jons face had fallen slightly when he heard this was Ember, he had been friends with both brothers in his childhood.

"Its wonderful to meet you Ember... This is my padawan Obi Wan."

Both the children nodded their heads politely

"Obi Wan why don't you show Ember where she needs to be for the trials."

"Yes master"

With that Obi Wan motioned for Ember to follow him and the two made their way through the crowds. It was easy for them to keep up with each other because it seemed like their was a string pulling the two closer.

"Do you feel it too?" Ember asked

Obi-Wan frowned looking back at the girl, this bond what ever it was was not normal. And he wanted nothing to do with it if he could possibly help it... So he lied

"I dont know what your talking about."

They walked to a line of initiates and he stopped

"Here this is where you need to be they'll call your name when their ready for you and you'll fight whoever has been chosen. You have a lightsaber right?

Ember rolled her eyes lifting her cloak to reveal her gold enlayed lightsaber hilt.

Obi wan nodded "Well good luck."

With that he turned and left he needed to get far away from this girl. Because this was not normal. He left so quickly that he didn't notice the boy he had left Ember standing next to. If he had he probably would have moved her elsewhere.

"Damian Jett-So"

The boy next to Ember spoke making her jump and break her stare from Obi Wans back. She turned to find a boy her age, with dark curly hair, bright blue eyes and a cocky grin on his face.

"Ember Starr" She smiled at the boy and they began talking until his name was called it was the start of a beautiful friendship between the two. And Ember cheered when Damian won his fight.

Her name was called soon after and she walked into the ring to find a Devaronian male. Just great... The fight began, both moving forwards Ember ran fast then allowed her body to fall into a roll, trying to take out the boys legs.

He dodged jerking away and raising his hand using the force to push her. They both drew their light sabers and everyone in the room gasped as they saw that Embers was purple.

Obi-Wans eyes widened as the girls light saber ignited. Purple crystals were few and far between, only Mace Windu had one and it had been a gift. Then on top of that the girl separated the light saber into two purple half's which meant she had not just one but two purple crystals.

The two fighters attacked, the Devaronian boy quickly realizing that he was not a match for this girl. Ember grinned as she caught the large boy off guard and made a move to win the match.

Then she saw the look in his eyes.. A look of fear and pain, and she remembered something her aunt had once told her. During her studies they had been learning about Devaronians and her aunt said that males of the species had an insatiable wonder lust.

This boy would not be happy just working the fields... So Ember made a mistake and in an instant she was one the ground with a lightsaber at her throat. She had lost and she was now doomed to the fields.

The council were talking together about the initiates who had failed to gain a master.

"So much wasted potential." Master Plo Koon shook his head sadly

"The Starr girl was a rather big surprise, especially considering who her father was, I thought for sure she would be as good as my own Padawan is." Master Mace Windu felt saddened his own padawan was away on a mission at the moment and he would be devastated that his cousin had failed.

"Speak of this, I wish to... Master Yoda who had been silent all afternoon finally spoke. "Lose the Starr girl did not."

The other masters all frowned but it was Yaddle who finally answered her fellow master

"But the boy won Master Yoda, the girl lost it was very clear she made a grave misstep."

"Mercy she had, lose she did not, saw it in the force I did." Yoda stares at his fellow masters for a second who were all in a state of disbelief before he spoke again. "Take her as my Padawan I will, train her to grow stronger in the force. Something great happen because of her it will, changes she will make it is written in the force.

Ember was crying in a corner when Yoda found the girl, she had been avoiding everyone. But she didn't realize that around the corner Obi-Wan Kenobi sat listening to her cry's.

This strange bond between them had led him here, and would not allow him to leave, so he did his best to send comforting waves the girls way.

Yoda was not surprised when he saw the boy there, he had felt the bond between the two. But he was unsure what the force had in store for the two, so he ignored it and continued towards the girl.

"Crying you are, why I ask?" Yoda tilted his head at the girl who quickly jumped to her feet and bowed respectfully to the high master

"Because I lost, and now because I lost no master will choose me as their Padawan... I have disgraced my family."

Yoda hummed to himself for a second watching the girl who kept her chin held high in pride.

"Disgrace? How? When mercy on enemy you did have?"

Ember looked up in surprise "How?"

"Felt it in the force I did... My Padawan you will be, teach you I will, strong you will become. I have seen it."

Ember stared at the ancient master in disbelief before a smile of joy took over. "Thank you master, thank you so much!."

Ember and Yoda walked away together Master and Padawan.

5 years later

Ember Starr and Obi-Wan Kenobi sat side by side in a bar glaring at each other. Earlier in the week the two had gotten into a fight which was typical between the two. Ember although the Padawan of Yoda she was often sent on missions with Qui Jon Gin and his Padawan.

Because of this she had the ability to constantly be around the boy she was secretly in love with, and he tended to find her annoying.

She was reckless, often throwing herself into situations that she knew were impossible. Disobeying orders and getting upset when people didnt listen to her.

So when the master and apprentice had once again had the girl tagging along behind them Obi-Wan had not been pleased. The two had gotten into a fight that came to blows, which brought them to this bar.

It was Embers 18th birthday she should not be in this sleezo place with Obi-Wan Kenobi tracking down a drug runner.

She had plans with Damian, Cosmos, and Galaxy for her birthday. They were going to sneak out of the temple for the day and to have some fun, see the sights, do crazy things.

But no here she was in a bar on some podunk planet in the middle of nowhere...

"This is your fault"

Obi Wan turned and stared at Ember or as he liked to refer to her the pest.

"Excuse me, how is this my fault you are the one who jeopardized the mission... Again I might add."

Ember rolled her eyes "I finished the mission, if it wasnt for me, we would still be on that planet."

Obi-Wan moved closer to the girl trying as ever to ignore the bond that always hurt when they argued

"You could have been killed.. Then where would we be?"

"Aww Obi I didnt know you cared." Ember smirked at the older boy

He opened his mouth to speak when the bartender came by "Look either you two order a drink or you leave okay!"

They ordered quickly before going back to their argument

"Of course I care, your a pain, and an annoyance but I still care about you as a sister."

Ember pulled back and took a sip of her drink. Yeah that's what every woman wanted to hear.

Obi wan frowned expecting the girl to appreciate hearing he cared about her when he had never said that before... Ok maybe he was lying when he said he thought about her like a sister but anything else was forbidden.

And he didnt really know what the relationship was between her and Damian. He did not like that guy, especially if the two were together, because he flirted with every girl who walked by.

But on their last mission Obi had been afraid, he thought he had lost Ember. She had disappeared for three days, then there was chaos in the castle they were suppose to be infiltrating. He had felt pain through the bond and had fought his master to go in, he had gotten away and made his way inside the castle.

When he got there he found Ember bleeding from a blaster wound, but she had taken out the men they had been sent after. She had passed out in his arms, and he had held her the entire way home. Then she woke up, healed and was back in the training room far to soon. So he jumped her up one side and down the other, twlling her how stupid she was etc. When he mentioned that she would die like her parents, she slapped him.

Thus, why they were here now he sipped his drink which tasted a little odd (but he chalked it up to the dive they were in) and went back to looking for their target.

Twenty minutes later the two Jedi Padawans blacked out what they did for the next 10 hours they had a very hard time remembering. All they knew was they woke up half naked, in the same bed, with rings on their fingers, and a marriage certificate on the table beside them.

"Oh Kriff!"

?

They kept what happened on that mission a secret, and neither was brave enough to admit to their feelings. Until they went on a one year mission where they protected Duchess Satine.

During that time Satine often flirted with Obi-Wan and finally Ember got annoyed enough to drag Obi-Wan away and tell him exactly how she felt.

"Look I know its stupid, and what happened was an accident but I love you Obi-Wan Kenobi. If you dont love me thats fine I wont hold you back.. But I cant let you go without a fight."

Obi-Wan stared in wonder at the woman before him

"I thought you were in love with Damian."

"Damian are you kidding me, Damians in love with Galaxy, he's just too bantha to admit it, I ..."

Her words were cut off as Obi-Wan grabbed her pulling her close and placing his lips on hers, they had been away from the temple for six months. His way of life was in the background, Ember was here in front of him.

He pulled back when they started having trouble breathing "I used to think you were annoying now the things that annoyed me make me smile. You make me happier then I have ever been, and I am glad that days events happened. I love you Ember, and this connection the force has given us cannot be ignored.

She smiled staring deep into his eyes happily, about that time they heard Satine scream and took off running. But anyone who took a moment to notice would see that they were holding hands.
