Polly wanted to forget so she got drunk, and now she was happy, she was giggly and dancing with some young man she'd seen from across the room. She danced and the man whispered in her ear which only made her giggle more, Tommy was watching them but she ignored him.
"You're bloody gorgeous, do you know that ?" He whispered in her ear. "I've been told." She smiled as his hands slid to her waist, she leaned against him. "I plan on taking you home at the end of the night, how do feel about that ?" She grinned "Wait till the end of the night and you'll find out." She grinned and walked away leaving him to watch her.
She walked her way over to Tommy "I see you're forgetting your troubles well." She took out a cigarette "indeed." She was swaying clearly close to blackout drunk so Tommy lifted her up and sat her on the bar, all the chairs were full. She opened her mouth to protest "be quiet pol. You're not fit to stand." She glared at him "I could have got up myself."
"The height of you it would have been like trying to climb a mountain." She hit his shoulder. "Shut up, I've still not forgiven you."
"I didn't assume you had but you're going to have to eventually." She glared "I'll forgive you when you give me an address."
"You look like shit, how do you feel ?" She said as she actually looked at him "I'd feel a whole lot bloody better if you let me walk you home. She rolled her eyes "I have an escort for the night." She said as she jumped down off of the bar. "You think I'm going to let you go home with some random fucking guy half your age."
"You don't need to "let" me do anything I'm a fucking full grown woman." She tried to push past him and walk away. "Pol you're not going, do you know what the fuck could happen to you when you're this drunk ?" He grabbed her wrist "Get the fuck off me Tommy."
"No, pol you're fucking blackout drunk, you don't need to go home with him you won't fucking remember it in the morning. What if he decides to ditch you ? What if you get hurt ? What if you get fucking kidnapped ? I'm not fucking letting you go home with some random guy when you're this drunk."
She pushed past him to get her coat and take the arm of her dance partner. "Let's go…" they were at the door when she looked back at Tommy who was shaking his head. "Look I can't, I need to go, I'm sorry." She said and walked back over to Tommy.
"Walk me home then." She sighed not looking at him. He offered his arm "come on then pol." They left the pub and she leaned her head on his shoulder. "I promise I'll tell you where Michael is as soon as he turns eighteen…"
She shivered and he pulled his coat around her until they got back to the house. "I'm going back to the pub pol" she handed him back his jacket. "Goodnight pol." She turned around to go inside. "I'll see you tomorrow Tommy."
