Remnant
Mountain Glenn, Vale
U.H.L. Headquarters
Computer Lab
June 4, 2020
It was now morning and within the U.H.L building, the students, teachers, and Huntsmen were all in a large room filled with desks with computers placed on them, where Alex stood at the front of the lab.
"Listen up. Since we just got familiar with Remnant, it's only fair that you get familiar with Earth," Alex explained. "You're all free to look up Earth's history on these computers which all connect to a super computer with as much Earth's history, cultures, languages, etcetera. You all also have access to the library next door."
"Are there any games on them?" Yang asked.
"Yes. Miles actually asked for them to have games, videos, music, stuff to keep you all entertained," Alex answered. "Our guests from Rooster Teeth will be joining us shortly. So go ahead and enjoy yourselves for now."
Professor Ozpin, Glynda, Professor Bellrose, General Ironwood, Robyn, Blake, Kendra, Pyrrha, Jacob, Ren, Maria, Weiss, and Winter walked out of the computer lab to walk into the library, while everyone else stayed in the computer lab. As everyone in the computer lab went to a computer, Michael, Gavin, Lindsay, Miles, Arryn, and Barbara walked into the room. Ruby, Yang, Jaune, Nora, Ricky, Rebecca, and Kelly approached the voice actors.
"Sup losers!" Michael exclaimed.
"Sup," Ricky said.
"We came in to see if any of you want to play Minecraft," Arryn said.
"YES!" Ricky, Rebecca, and Kelly exclaimed.
"Sure," Yang said.
"Tell me how to play it so I can crush you all!" Nora said.
"Alright. Let's get things set up," Miles said.
A couple hours have past and Ruby, Yang, Jaune Nora, Ricky, Rebecca, Kelly, Lindsay, Micheal, Miles, Arryn, Gavin and Barbara were all on a computer playing Minecraft.
"GAVIN, YOU MOTHERFUCKER!" Michael yelled as he watched Gavin dump lava onto Michael and Lindsay's house and tried to run away.
"What? What did I do?" Gavin asked innocently.
"Hey, uh, Ruby can me and Micheal stay at your house for a bit until me and Michael rebuild our house?" Lindsay asked.
"Sure thing. I've made cookies if you want some," Ruby replied.
"Awww, thank you, Ruby," Lindsay said.
Suddenly Nora shot an arrow at Lindsay, getting her attention.
"There can only be one queen and I'm queen of the castle!" Nora proclaimed.
"Yeah!" Kelly and Rebecca exclaimed as they approached right next to Nora.
"This means war! So says the chaos queen!" Lindsay declared.
"Yeah!" Ruby exclaimed.
"It's on now!" Yang said.
Miles, Arryn, Barbara, and Jaune were currently mining for materials down in a cave.
"I've found some diamond," Miles said as he was mining out the diamonds.
"I've got me some redstone," Arryn said.
"I've got... Creeper!" Jaune exclaimed as a Creeper exploded in front of him, killing him.
"Looks like that Creeper ended it with a Yang!" Barbara said as Yang laughed while everyone else groaned.
"Boo!" Nora booed.
The Remnans had looked up as much as they could about Earth. They have learned that Dust, Grimm, and even Faunus don't exist on Earth. They've learned that even though Earth is behind Remnant by technological standards, Earth at the same time was leagues ahead of Remnant. Earth has alternative fuels and have traveled outside of Earth's atmosphere and landed on their moon, along with creating satellites while Remnant has not.
"It's amazing that Earth has many things that Remnant has ever dreamed of achieving," Fox said.
"The alternate fuels would easily rival the SDC and give them nightmares about it," May said.
"They sound so lucky that they don't have any Grimm in their world," Sun said.
"I'm just disappointed that Earth doesn't have any Faunus existing there," Velvet said.
"Lucky," Cardin muttered.
The Remnans had various reactions to Earth's history. The Faunus in the room took interest in the Civil Rights Movement and its founder, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They grew inspired by his famous 'I Have a Dream' speech and grew hopeful that the Faunus would one day gain equality just like the African Americans.
"Wow. Who knew racism on Earth is way worse than Remnant," Sun said.
"So racist that you can't even drink from the same drinking fountain," Marrow added.
"But this Dr. King person helped gain equality in his home nation and it rubbed off on other nations as well." Neon said.
"Would we really gain equality by following his ideals?" Ilia asked.
"I wish we would," Fiona replied.
"Yeah," Velvet agreed.
The Remnans looked up many things about Earth, such as the birth of the United States, the French Revolution, the Cold War, and the many wars and conflicts throughout Earth's history. One war that got the Remnans' attention the most was World War II. They were stunned and dumbstruck by the battles events that took place during the war, and were horrified that over sixty million lives were lost in the war and over six million of them were murdered during an event known as the Holocaust.
They realized why World War II was considered to be the most destructive and deadliest conflicts in Earth's human history. They then felt a twinge of fear of Earth when they read about the weapon that helped end Earth's second World War, the atomic bomb. The destruction the bomb left behind was bad enough, but it got worse when the Remnans read about the radiation this weapon unleashes, causing many to die a slow and painful death from radiation poisoning.
"Man. The Great War has got nothing on Earth's wars, especially World War II," Flynt said.
"And this atomic bomb is something Remnant has not created, nor do I want on Remnant," Velvet said.
"All these wars would make the Great War look like child's play," Arslan said.
I just hope that we don't end up going to war with Earth. Besides, I've looked up that Earth has over one hundred and ninety-five nations compared to Remnant's four kingdoms," Yatsuhashi said.
"Wait! How many?!" Sun asked in surprise.
"One hundred and ninety-five. Crap, that's a lot," Harriet said.
"It makes sense because Earth doesn't have Grimm to begin with, Hare. Meaning the Terrans can freely expand," Vine said.
"I just hope things turn out okay in the end between both worlds once we open up to each other," Velvet said.
"I'm sure they will," Sage said.
Library
Meanwhile in the library, Professor Ozpin, Glynda, Professor Bellerose, General Ironwood, Robyn, Blake, Kendra, Pyrrha, Jacob, Ren, Maria, Weiss, and Winter were all in the library. General Ironwood was reading 'The Art of War' by Sun Tzu, and has a stack of books about Earth's wars and plans to read them all to gain an understanding on how to fight in man on man conflicts in case Remnant does go to war with Earth.
Robyn is with Britney as she presents her with a stack of books on all of Earth's forms of government to get ideas since she was running for a seat on the Atlas Council.
"Let's see... Capitalism, Colonialism, Monarchy, Military Dictatorship, Democracy. Familiar with all those things," Robyn said as she was looking through the stack of books. "Matriarchy, Totalitarianism, Theocracy, Aristocracy, Oligarchy, Socialism, and Communism. Those I'm not familiar with."
"Probably a good thing for some of them," Britney said.
"What are these forms of governments?" Robyn asked.
"Matriarchy is a social system in which females hold the primary power positions, totalitarianism dictates what people can and cannot do, theocracy lets priests rule the government in the name of God or a god, aristocracy lets the high class hold title to rule over a government, and oligarchy is a small group of people having control of a nation. That one is kind of like the Councils within the kingdoms," Britney explained.
"Sounds interesting, but what about the last two?" Robyn asked.
"Communism and Socialism are two forms of government that you do not want on Remnant." Britney answered.
"Why is that?" the Happy Huntress' leader asked.
"Communism is a system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed and a theory advocating elimination of private property," Britney explained.
"That doesn't sound too bad," Robyn said.
"On paper it doesn't. But in actuality, it's anything but a good idea. It delivers poverty, misery, and tyranny. It dictates on what you can and can't do and silences those that disagree, argue, criticize, or don't like what you say against communist rule, while brushing off and hiding any problem that comes about," Britney explained.
"That sounds terrible. I have to read into that to gain an understanding of it in order to avoid it," Robyn said. "What about socialism?"
"It's basically a combination between communism and capitalism, mostly communism," Britney answered.
"Again I'll read into that," Robyn asked.
Britney turned her head to another table where Ozpin and Jacob sat. She looked at Jacob in particular who was reading Ozpin stories from the Bible and had a small smile grow on her face. Robyn took notice and gave a teasing smirk.
"Looks like someone here has her eyes glued," she said.
"What are you talking about?" Britney turned her head back to the Happy Huntress.
"I saw that look you were making. You have a thing for that boy, Jacob, do you?" Robyn asked, still smiling.
"What?! No I don't!" Britney said.
Robyn puts her hand on Britney's as a pale lilac aura manifests over their hands and forearms. Britney realized that Robyn is activating her semblance, Lie Detection.
"Do you have feelings for him?" Robyn asked.
"Yes," Britney sighed, as she knew she couldn't lie to Robyn.
The Aura abruptly turns green, then quickly returns to its former lilac color as she does so. Robyn took her hand away, still smiling.
"I didn't want to use my semblance, but then again, I just want to tease you about it," she said.
"I hate you," Britney muttered.
"But seriously, why don't you just talk to him?" Robyn asked.
"When we have hung out a lot, I've grown to develop feelings for him, but never had the courage to tell him. I'm just worried about what he might say to me about it," Britney answered.
"Just try and talk to him when you get the chance," Robyn said. "And don't pull off a Pyrrha."
"I'll try," Britney said.
At the table where Ozpin and Jacob sat, Ozpin continued to listen to Jacob as he continued to read him many bible stories. He wanted to learn about Earth's creation from a religious view and when he heard about Jacob's faith in God, Ozpin thought Jacob would teach him about his world's religion.
"I must say, Mr. Gordon, you show much devotion to this God and you seemed glad to read to me some of the stories of him," Ozpin said.
"I'm glad to see you're interested in this," Jacob said.
"Not many people on Remnant are religious today and the gods faded into legend," Ozpin said. "What about your world? Do they hold onto their faith in this God?"
"Most do, but many have different views on how God works," Jacob answered. "Some would even commit acts of terrorism because they believe their views are superior then all else."
"If Earth and Remnant are to unite, I would hope that they would see each other as friends and not foes," Ozpin said.
Ozpin and Jacob turned their heads to see Maria reading a book titled The Wizard of Oz to Oscar and Kendra.
"You would like that book Maria is reading. the characters are based off of you and your inner circle," Jacob said.
"I'll have to read it when I get the chance," Ozpin said.
Eastern Solitas
Meanwhile within the eastern parts of Solitas, the White Fang made camp and had stolen a cargo airship with a shipment of teleportation Dust. The deer faunus, Deery oversaw the dust being hauled by her men.
"Make sure this is ready to go tomorrow! High Leader Taurus said this special Dust is very much needed for our cause!" Deery said.
Suddenly, something burrows out of the ground. It has a long, black segmented bodies. Each segment has a pair of clawed legs and is covered by a protective shell. Their heads have no eyes but possess large jaws. Inside their jaws, they have four small claws. This Grimm is known as a Centinel.
Four more Centinels burrowed out from the ground.
"Grimm!" a White Fang soldier shouted.
Several White Fang soldiers began to shoot at the Centinels as they made their way towards them. One of them gets shot in the mouth causing it to throw its head back with a pained squeal with its wound dripping with green fluid. It lunges at a White Fang soldier and tackles him to the ground as the green fluid drips on his shoulder. The liquid started to burn through his shoulder making him scream in pain. The Centinel lunged down and bit down on the Faunus' chest and burrowed through his body and into the ground.
Deery drew two swords and slashed at two oncoming Centinels. The wounded Centinel burrow out of the ground in front of a White Fang soldier who was carrying a crate full of teleporting Dust. He dropped the crate and ran away from the Grimm. As the crate hit the ground, the lid bounced open and closed and a large dust crystal jumped out of the crate. The crate was next to the cargo airship.
Two White Fang soldiers shot the fourth Centinal to death and turned their attention to the wounded Centinel and proceeded to shoot it to death. Then a thumping sound was heard. Everyone turned to see a large Grimm charging at them.
The Grimm resembles the extinct mammoth, a large elephant-like animal that lived in the Holocene. It has shaggy-looking fur, a larger mask with two pairs of eyes, and bone fragments that appear ice like in appearance. They have a primarily black body, with four giant white tusks and a spiked bone-like mask. The front tusks point forward, while the back tusks point to the sides. Most likely due to the fact that they inhabit the cold tundras of Solitas, the large Grimm's skin appears to be somewhat frozen over, like other Grimm in the continent. This Grimm is known as a Megoliath.
Deery ran up to the cargo airship and climbed up to the top of it. Just as the Megoliath was about to charge past the airship, Deery jumped on to the Grimm's back and stabbed her swords into it. The Megoliath tries to jump up to its hind legs, trying to shake the deer Faunus off of it. Two White Fang soldiers ran up to help their leader.
The Megoliath swung its trunk at one of them, making him stagger back and accidently shoot at the dust crystal just as Deery and two of her men approached the crate. A light from the crystal engulfed the crate, the airship, the Megoliath, Deery, and her two other soldiers. When the light died away, they were gone, along with the crate of the new Dust.
"Where did they go?" a White Fang soldier asked.
Earth
Moscow, Russia
Red Square
Back on Earth in the Red Square in the city of Moscow, several Russian soldiers were overseeing plans for the Victory Day parade which had to be rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic. There were very few people in the Red Square besides the soldiers. A young man approached one of the soldiers. He has brown hair and green eyes, and wears a facial mask over his face. He wore a brown zip-up trench coat with a black shirt underneath. He wore a pair of dark blue jeans and a pair of black leather shoes.
"Alexey, my friend! How are you doing today?" the soldier asked the man known as Alexey.
"Doing great," Alexey answered.
"How have you been doing since your early retirement?" the soldier asked.
"Doing great so far. Not letting the COVID get to me," Alexey answered.
"Things have been pretty boring without you after we've kicked the crap out of ISIS," the soldier said.
"Well unless something big comes up, maybe I'll think about signing back up with the Airborne Forces," Alexey said. "Until then, I'll be watching that American web show, RWBY."
"You still watch that show?" the soldier asked.
Suddenly a bright light flashed right in the middle of the square, getting everyone's attention.
"What the hell?" Alexey said.
When the light died away, the cargo airship and the Megoliath, along with Deery and her two White Fang soldiers were in its place. The Grimm was still trying to shake Deery off of its back.
"What the hell?!" Alexey yelled in shock.
The Megoliath finally shook off Deery as she hit the ground knocking her unconscious. It swung its trunk at the two White Fang soldiers, knocking them both unconscious and then the Grimm turned its attention to a couple of civilians and started to charge at them. A group of Russian soldiers pointed their rifles at it and opened fire, getting its attention. It then charges at the soldier.
"Is that... a Grimm?" Alexey asked, still in shock.
He turned his head to the three White Fang terrorists and narrowed his eyes at them. Alexey ran up to the three.
"Alexey, wait!" the soldier shouted.
Alexey approached the three unconscious Faunus and knelt down at Deery. He grabbed on one of her antlers and slightly tugged on it then widened his eyes.
"They're... they're real!" Alexey said. "Does that mean-"
"Alexey! Behind you!" the soldier shouted.
Alexey turned around and saw the Megoliath rushing towards him. He grabs one of the White Fang soldiers' rifles and begins to shoot at the large Grimm. The Megoliath continues to charge at Alexey. He glances down at the White Fang soldier and notices a grenade lying next to his side. He quickly grabs it and pushes the button on it. Alexey then ran up to the Megoliath as it stood up on its hind legs.
As it opens its mouth, Alexey throws the grenade into its mouth. He rolls away as the Megoliath tries to crush him with his front legs. The grenade detonates, blowing up most of its head as it then falls to its side as the rest of its body slowly disintegrates. Alexey slowly gets up, watching the Grimm disappear, then turns his head to Deery and the two White Fang soldiers.
"They're real," Alexey said.
"What's real?" the Russian soldier asked as he approached.
"You're not going to believe this," Alexey replied.
Several soldiers ran up to the three Faunus terrorists and started to search for them. More soldiers approached the cargo airship as a few more approached the few citizens within the square.
"The president is going to be asking a lot of questions about this," the soldier said.
"Question; is it possible for me to sign back up in the Airborne Forces?" Alexey asked.
"If you have any information on what all this is, it may be possible," the soldier answered.
"In that case, I'm signing back up," Alexey said.
"Then welcome back, Sergeant Belitrov," the soldier said with a salute.
