Shield Apartment: Day of the Entrance Exam, Morning…
Goku was up bright and early which wasn't peculiar for him; however, today he made certain he wouldn't sleep in. After all, he had his entrance exam this day, and Melissa had even made him a large breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and orange juice which he woofed down.
Once he was done, his sister sat across from him. "So, how are you feeling about today?"
"Pretty good." Goku smiled. "I've done all the hard work for today, so all that's left is to put it into practice."
"I suppose so." Melissa nodded. "In the end, I know you'll get into U.A."
"That's the plan." Goku stood up and downed one more glass of orange juice before walking to the door. "I'll come back and tell you all about it when I'm done."
"Good luck, Goku!" Melissa declared as he left the apartment.
U.A. Academy
Goku eventually arrived at U.A., and it was massive for a school. Already a lot of people were making their way inside dressed in civilian clothes like him. That meant they were here for the entrance exam same as him.
"Alright, this is it." Goku confidently walked through the school gates. "It's time to take this test and secure my place."
Goku entered the school and was led to a seat among a literal sea of other applicants. Papers were passed out, so he took one before passing the rest along. Once everyone had their test, the written exam began. There were multiple choice and short answers to boot.
Goku made sure to take his time, skip over questions he didn't know, and go back to them at the end. He then used context clues and this second pass through to better answer the questions he'd left blank. Once every answer was filled out, he went through it one more time.
This was mostly done to ensure any written answers were as concise as possible since his gut told him he'd at least done well enough in getting down relatively correct answers. Almost as soon as he finished, the time allotted for the written exam ended.
As they turned them in, Goku felt like he'd at minimum passed the written portion. Once all the written tests were removed, a tall, slender man with long, spiky blonde hair and a small mustache walked onto the stage.
He wore a pair pf headphone, sunglasses, a black jacket with studded shoulder pads, black pants with a red studded belt, black boots, and black finger-less gloves. His neck was completely covered by a directional speaker. This was the hero, Present Mic.
"What's up, U.A. Candidates." He declared rather enthusiastically. "Thanks for tuning into me, your school D.J. Come on and let me hear ya!"
Goku was the only one to speak up. "Yeah!"
"Keeping it mellow, aren't we?" The DJ questioned. "That's fine. I'll just skip straight to the main show. Let's talk about how this practical exam is going down, okay? ARE YOU READAAAY?"
This time, Goku stood up and yelled louder in excitement. "YEEAAAH!"
Everybody turned to stare at him, but he didn't mind. It was their loss that they weren't as excited as he was.
"HA! I like this kid's attitude!" Mic replied, "Anyways, like your applications said, today you rocking boys and girls will be conducting ten minute mech battles in super hip urban settings!" Goku examined the screen as it began to outline the exam areas. "Gird your loins, friends. After the mic's been dropped, you'll head to your specified battle centers. Sound good?"
The man saw a couple of nods while Goku responded, "OKAY!"
The youngest Shield then examined the card he was given and saw that he'd been assigned to center B.
"Now then, Let's check out your targets for the day!" Mic continued. "There are three types of foe villains in every battle center. You'll earn points based on the level of difficulty, so you folks better choose wisely! Your goal in this is to use your Quirk to raise your score by shredding these foe villains like a mid-song guitar solo; however, make sure you keep things heroic. Attacking other examinees is a U.A. no-no, ya dig?"
"These rules won't be hard to follow." Goku nodded in agreement. "Take down as many bots as possible to earn as many points as you can and don't attack your fellow competitors." He crossed his arms. "Of course, he said nothing about protecting others. Even if they did, there's no way I could ignore someone in need of help."
"Excuse me, sir." A voice called out on Goku's far left. "I have a question."
"Hit me!"
Goku turned towards the voice and saw a relatively tall, muscular young man with a wide frame. He has short, dark blue hair, rather square glasses, and a serious expression. He was currently wearing a beige suit.
"On the print-out given to us, you listed four types of villains; not three." The person stood up. "With all respect, if this is an error on U.A. material, it's shameful. We are exemplary students. We expect the best from Japan's most notable school. A mistake like this will not do."
"Alright examinee number 7111, thanks for calling in with your request." Mic gave him a thumbs up. "This fourth villain is worth zero points! That guy's just an obstacle we'll be throwing your way. There's one for every battle center.
Think of it as a hurdle you should try and avoid. It's not that it can't be beaten. It's just that there's no point. I'd recommend my listeners ignore it and focus on the ones on top of the charts. That's all I've got for today. Now, I'll sign off with a little present.
A sample of our school motto! As general Napoleon Bonaparte once laid down, a true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes. Now that's a tasty sound byte. Ready to go beyond? Let's hear a PLUS ULTRA!"
On cue, those words appeared on the screen in big, bright letters.
Goku raised a fist to the sky while emitting a positive aura. "PLUS ULTRA!"
"ALRIGHT!" Mic pointed to him. "Keep showing us that fire inside ya, kiddo!" He then spoke to everyone. "Good luck! Hope you practiced hitting more than just books!"
Battle Center B
Goku arrived with all the other participants who were assigned to this battle center. The place itself was gigantic, but people soon turned their gaze to him. The younger Shield was wearing an orange gi and didn't particularly care what others thought of it.
He just started stretching and preparing himself for what was to come. It was during this time that he was approached by a shorter boy with a round face framed by fluffy, dark-green hair and matching eyes. He wore a green tracksuit.
"Hey, I just wanted to come over and say good luck." The boy stated.
"Thanks." Goku smiled and nodded. "Good luck to you as well."
"RIGHT! LET'S START!" Mic shouted form atop a pillar getting everyone's attention except for Goku who tore off through the door. "HE HAS THE RIGHT IDEA LISTENERS SINCE THERE'S NO COUNTDOWNS IN A REAL BATTLE!"
After hearing that, and seeing Goku was already within the city, everyone tore after him. The younger Shield began tearing through robots in as effective a manner as possible. In quick succession, he racked up 60 points.
Then, the ground began to shake violently alerting everyone to something coming. All the applicants turned to stare at a colossal robot making its way towards them. Goku deduced that this was likely the mysterious 0-pointer they heard about.
The robot punched down at the ground kicking up debris. Students screamed as they ran away. Goku would have loved to take that thing on, but he had to stay focused on racking up points. Considering that robot was worth none, he'd be better suited avoiding it as advised.
Before he could run, he heard a girl cry out in pain. Without even thinking or hesitating, he turned to run towards an applicant trapped under debris. It was a short, slender girl with fair skin. She also had large, brown eyes and matching, shoulder-length hair.
He noticed he wasn't alone as that green haired boy he'd met was running alongside him. He was glad that another, potential hero hadn't ignored this. He immediately focused up and went for the girl in harm's way lifting the debris off her.
"Don't worry, I got you!" Goku exclaimed as he picked the girl up and slung her on his back.
Before the girl could speak, both heard a huge explosion. They looked up and saw that the green haired boy had destroyed the 0-point robot. That was an impressive display of power. Their amazement quickly turned to shock as they noticed the boy was falling fast.
Goku looked back at the girl. "Hold on tight!"
The girl had no idea what he was going to do, but she did know he was going to attempt to save that boy. Rather than be a hinderance, she did as he said. Not even a moment later, Goku lept into the air reaching the boy and catching him in his arms before landing safely.
"Alright, you're…" Goku stopped as he saw the desperation in the boy's eyes; however, he seemed unable to talk which was understandable given how much pain his broken limbs must be causing him. "Whoa, are you okay?"
"I'm alive." The boy thought. "This guy saved me, but I still have no points! I need to get down! I need to get even just 1 point! I need…"
"That's it!" Mic's voice rang out. "TIME'S UP!"
A horn blared drawing everyone's attention. The boy was devastated and immediately passed out losing all the adrenaline that had been keeping him going.
"Is he alright!?" The girl asked concerned.
"He's fine." Goku answered. "I think all that adrenaline he had from punching the robot just gave out is all."
Everyone started whispering around them.
"Did you see that dude's attack?"
"What about that other guy's leap?"
"Yeah, he didn't even hurt himself from it."
"That was kind of expected, but the green haired guy sure surprised me with his strength."
"Didn't think he had it in him."
"If he has such an amazing Quirk, why didn't he snag any points?"
"Maybe he was trying to trick us."
"Jokes on him. There's no way he's passing with a score of zero."
"They're missing the point." The blue haired guy, now in a blue outfit, thought. "Don't they see it? Those two put themselves on the line to rescue that girl. If this hadn't been an exam… I'd have down the same thing. Wait… the Exam! The judges would have seen that!"
"Very nice." A kind, elderly voice spoke up. "Good work all around. You're all heroes in my eyes. Every one of you." The owner of the voice approached Goku. "Here sonny, have some gummies for an excellent job well done."
A short, elderly woman with gray hair styled into a netted bun was holding out a handful of gummies to the younger Shield. She has a notably small nose and eyes. She was wearing a doctor's lab coat and a dress with yellow and red vest-like designs.
"Oh, thanks for the offer, but I couldn't accept a reward for this." Goku stated as he worked to gently set down the boy and girl he'd saved. "If you still insist, then please heal these two first." Goku knew who this was, and that she could help. "That's all I need."
"Aren't you a kind, young man." The woman tucked the gummies away and approached the applicants. "Very well."
"Who is she?"
A young man with a slim build and rather feminine face was keen to answer. He has long blond hair and bright indigo eyes. He wore a long sleeved, white dress shirt with dark purple pants and matching shoes.
"That mademoiselle is the heart of U.A." The boy informed. "She is the Youthful Heroine, Recovery Girl."
Recovery approached the green haired boy first. "Oh my, you were hurt this badly by your own Quirk, sonny?" She then puckered her lips and extended them kissing the unconscious boy's head. "Give me some sugar."
"What's she doing?"
"It's her tres awesome Quirk which boost a body's healing." The boy replied. "She's the reason U.A. can hold exams like this. She's currently saving him months of recovery time."
As he spoke, green energy flowed through the unconscious boy completely healing him.
"I wonder if this exam has other parameters I didn't take into account." The blue haired boy looked form the green haired guy to Goku as he suddenly realized the potential truth. "It's possible."
With the two applicants now in Recovery Girl's hands, Goku ended up slipping away feeling content with how he did. 60 points seemed like a great score, and he managed to save two others on top of that.
To him, that meant more than garnering points. Besides, he had a good feeling that 60 points was more than enough to pass. If that were true, and he did as well as he thought on the written portion, then he should be accepted into U.A.
"Even still, it's not the end of the world if I don't get in." Goku thought. "Like I've been saying, there are other hero schools I can go for."
Shield Apartment
Goku knocked on the door to the apartment and spoke loudly. "Melissa, I'm coming in!"
"Alright, Goku!" Melissa returned. "You're just in time since I got lunch delivered!
"Alright!" Goku exclaimed as he entered. "Thanks Melissa."
They sat down to lunch with Goku happily starting to woof down his portion.
"So, how'd it go?" Melissa inquired.
"Well, I can't be sure, but I do think I got in." Goku stated, "At the very least, I think I passed the written test, and I did manage to score 60 points against the robots."
"Only 60 points?" Melissa questioned. "I remember hearing about the practical from other Hero Course students, and I thought for sure you'd have gotten 75 at the least."
"The 0-pointer rolled on out, and I would have just ignored it; however, another applicant got trapped under some rubble in its path. I ended up rushing over with another applicant as we both moved to save her.
I managed to get her out while he devastated the robot. Turns out his Quirk was detrimental. Three of his limbs were badly injured, so I leapt up to get him. Before I knew it, the exam was over."
"I should have figured there'd be a reason for it." Melissa smiled. "It's the most Goku reason to boot. After hearing that, I think you'll pass with the top score."
"What makes you say that?" Goku questioned.
Melissa winked at him. "Just a hunch."
Goku shrugged it off before moving to finish up his lunch.
One Week Later, Night…
Goku yawned as he was just coming off the tail end of a study session with the material he had on hand. Whether or not he got into U.A., he'd need to ensure his mind stayed sharp. He just wished it was half as exciting as training. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
"I got it Goku!" Melissa yelled as she ran to the front door.
Goku shrugged and closed his current book. After about 5 seconds, Melissa came running into the living room.
"Is something wrong?" Goku asked a little worried.
"Nothing's wrong, but it's here!" Melissa presented him with a letter as she smiled. "Your results from U.A.!"
"Yeah!" Goku took the letter. "Let's see how I did!"
Melissa sat down next to Goku as he opened the letter and removed a disk-like device. He sat the device on the table, and it hummed to life before presenting a projection of All Might.
"I am here as a projection now!" All Might declared.
"Uncle Might!" Goku exclaimed.
"What?" Melissa was socked as she didn't expect this. "That's so unfair! Uncle Might didn't appear to me to give my test results!"
"Guess I'm just lucky sis." Goku retorted.
"Sorry I haven't been in touch with you two since the day I came to visit, but it has been a rather busy two weeks." All Might explained. "I wanted it to be a surprise, and now you may know. You two are looking at U.A.'s newest faculty member for its hero course."
"Okay." Melissa sighed. "That explains why I didn't get my results from him."
"Anyways, I'm here to discuss your entrance exam, Goku." All Might continued. "Your written exam wasn't perfect, but it was well beyond the minimum needed to pass. Coupled with your exceptional 60 robot points, that's more than enough to get into U.A."
"I got in!" Goku exclaimed happily.
"Well done, Goku!' Melissa praised.
"I am not done yet." All Might declared drawing the sibling's attention with Melissa having a knowing look. "There is one other factor we must go over. After all, how could a hero course not award points for someone risking themselves for others. That is why we have hero points.
Judges award points for actions beyond simply fighting villains. You earned 90 Hero points making you the stand out in the physical exam. This also makes you the top applicant of the entrance exam, so I welcome you to U.A. Academy."
"It's official!" Goku lept out of his seat. "I'm in U.A. Academy!"
Melissa hopped to her feet and hugged her little brother. "I knew you'd get in no problem."
Next Day…
Goku looked at himself in the mirror. He was wearing the proper school uniform for U.A. which made him smile because this was it. Today, he took that next step towards his dream. The uniform itself wasn't half bad. If something were to happen, he knew he could fight in this.
Goku then grabbed his backpack and slung it over one shoulder before exiting his room. He saw Melissa who was wearing the female version of uniform; however, she seemed in no hurry to leave. That made sense considering her schedule would obviously be different from his.
"That look suits you, little brother." Melissa complimented while looking on in pride.
"Thanks." Goku nodded. "I got to look the part to start a new adventure."
"You'll do great." Melissa stated. "If you ever want to see me, don't hesitate to come on over to the support rooms. That's where I'll be most of third year if I'm not out at support companies and the like."
"Got it." Goku declared before stepping on out.
U.A. Academy
Goku arrived at the gate only to notice that green haired applicant standing there in his own school uniform. "Hey, you got in!" The younger Shield immediately ran up to him getting the boy's attention. "That's great because someone who would risk themselves should be here."
"Huh, oh you're that guy who caught me." The green haired guy smiled. "Your Quirk was something else. Oh, I also realized I didn't really thank you properly for what you did. Thanks for catching me."
"No problem." Goku smiled. "By the way, my name is Goku Shield."
"Shield?" Deku gasped. "Are you related to Professor David Shield!?"
"Yeah, he is my dad." Goku declared proudly.
"So, this is that nephew All Might was talking about!" The boy thought. "Wow, I didn't know what to expect from the son of a top scientist, but it makes sense he'd be strong with All Might as an uncle. Even without blood relation, just being around All Might can produce results."
He knew that better than anyone considering everything All Might's done for him.
"Speaking names, what is yours?" Goku inquired.
"Oh, sorry." The boy stated sincerely. "My name is Izuku Midoriya, and it's a pleasure to meet you."
"So, what class are you in?" Goku questioned.
"Class 1-A." Izuku replied.
Cool, same class as me." Goku stated. "Want to walk together?"
"Sounds good to me." Izuku agreed.
He smiled with determination before taking his first steps into the school of his dreams alongside a fellow student. They passed through the cafeteria, offices, and even other classes before finding themselves at the door to 1-A itself. It was one, large door.
"Man, this thing is huge!" Izuku thought aloud. "Are there giants here?"
"There could be." Goku reasoned. "After all, there are quite a few heroes in the world who have a Quirk that increases their size, so U.A. would want to accommodate them."
"That does sound right." Izuku admitted. "It wouldn't be the best school for heroes if they didn't accommodate giant, potential heroes. Speaking of potential heroes, the most promising ones in the country are waiting behind this very door."
"Then, let's go say hello." Goku declared before opening the door for them.
Izuku followed while silently hoping that two, certain people wouldn't be in this class as well.
As a result of Goku being there, Ochako wouldn't garner hero points; however, I think with what points she did rack up, she'd still make it in no problem. All Izuku did in canon was destroy the robot which did protect Ochako, so it stands to reason nothing that happened here would change much on how he got in. Maybe he'd only get 50 to 55 Hero points, but I think that's enough.
As for Goku, 60 is great especially considering he currently has nothing truly destructive like Bakugou. Considering he did rescue both Ochako and Izuku, a high hero point total would not be out of the question. All of this is to say that all three of them do make it in; however, Goku actually ends up taking the top score away from Bakugou in this reality.
ArguableReader: Pretty much; however, I didn't completely disregard the prior special as the speech Bardock gave was the one from the special. As for power levels, they are always inconsistent as there are many different sources. No matter how high Vegeta's power level was at his debut, I do agree that he shouldn't have been a planet buster. As for the pod, the asteroid hitting it did mess it up beyond simple redirection. I it to have more consequence than being an explanation on how Goku reached this version of Earth.
The only consequences to an infant, without killing Goku which obviously wouldn't be an option, would be severing his tail, that will lead to something in the future, and giving him his head injury. Again, I couldn't just reasonably have Bardock send his son to this version of Earth. Regardless of how someone views my choice, in the context of this story, I did want the My Hero Earth to be stronger than the Dragon World's Earth. In that sense. Bardock wouldn't have sent his son their as it'd be seen as too strong for him.
