A/N: Hope you all enjoy!

Naruto had met Sakura's parents, the Haruno's, several times over the years. They were good, kind people. Back when Naruto and Sakura were Genin, Sakura would bring him home with her after practices some days, and her parents would invite him in, fix him up a plate for dinner, and send him home with leftovers.

They weren't like a lot of the other villagers, who gave him a wide berth. They had been kind to him when most hadn't been. He was sure they were exasperated that Sakura was on his team, but they had accepted him and made him feel like maybe he wasn't totally alone.

He knew Sakura could get annoyed with her parents from time to time. Neither had made it far in the ninja ranks, and Naruto knew they just worried for their daughter. Not that Sakura always saw that. She felt like she had a lot to prove, and she wouldn't let her parents hold her back. Even though their relationship could be tumultuous, Sakura loved them.

"We have to tell my parents before we tell our friends," Sakura told him. "They would be heartbroken if they found out from someone else."

Naruto nodded in agreement, "We can tell them tomorrow." It had gotten late, and the two of them were snuggling and comfy in bed. Naruto could tell she was itching to tell someone, though. "You can't tell Ino," he told her quickly. She'll tell the other girls and then it'll really get to your parents before we do."

Heaving a deep sigh, Sakura knew he was right. "I guess you'll just have to keep my mind off of thinking about telling anyone and make it so I'm too tired afterwards but to go to sleep," she smiled devilishly.

Laughing, Naruto rolled on top of her, blowing a raspberry on her neck, tickling her. "I think I can arrange that, you know?"

Sakura giggled as she wrapped her arms around Naruto's back. "Tonight has been perfect, fiance ," she said, drawing out the last word. It seemed weird to say. She could hardly believe they were engaged.

They had just always been together, whether as unlikely teammates, to friends, to more. Sakura never fathomed a life without him. Putting labels on their relationship was the least important thing to her. She just wanted him by her side for the rest of her life. No matter what they called themselves.

"Do you want a big wedding?" he asked, shifting so that he slid down between her legs, his head on her stomach so he wasn't crushing her with his weight.

She shook her head, "Honestly, a backyard wedding somewhere with just us, my family, and our friends. That's all I need."

"As the future Hokage, it may need to be a bit bigger than that," Naruto reminded her.

She'd nearly forgotten. He was the village hero, the Hokage in training. They'd have to invite political figures and most of the village. Most days, Sakura could forget how important to the village he was. He never let it get to him, never let the attention change him. He knew all too well how fickle the world could be.

Groaning, she put her arm over her face. "I forgot about that."

"We could do a small, intimate wedding but a grand reception?" he suggested. "That might suffice. I'll have to talk to Kakashi-sensei though and Grandma Tsunade. They might know what we can do."

"I could do that," she smiled at him, ever so thoughtful. "A Spring wedding sounds wonderful, don't you think?"

Naruto smiled, "I think a nice celebration after the snow thaws sounds perfect."

"You know something else we haven't talked about in awhile?" she asked quietly. Naruto stared at her expectantly. "Kids."

She expected Naruto to choke, or stutter, or be surprised by her statement. The last time they had talked about children was early on in their relationship, and it had been in passing. He had been much more spastic back then. Now, he was calm, and nodded his head.

"How many do you want?" he asked.

Sakura smiled. "Two or three?"

"I can work with that," he smiled, resting his chin in his hand as he looked down at her. God, why was he so perfect?

"You're much calmer with this topic than I thought you'd be," she confessed.

"You don't think I've thought about having kids with you?" he asked. "We're stable at both of our jobs, we're making money, we've got the space. Now's a perfect time to be having kids."

She sat up, causing Naruto to have to move with her and sit backwards. Her pink hair was staticy and sticking up in the back, but she ignored it. "You've thought about this? Why didn't you say anything?"

Naruto shrugged, "I figured you'd tell me when you were ready."

"I am ready. I want to have babies with you," she smiled, feeling giddy. "I'd just like to wait until after we're married so I don't have to worry about fitting into a dress."

He reached for her hand, "That is fine with me."

Wanting to squeal but not wanting to alarm him, Sakura shifted her energy and surged forward onto her knees and kissed Naruto full on the lips, her arms wrapping around his neck. He rocked backwards before righting himself and brought his hands up ribs, pulling her into him. He uncrossed his legs, and Sakura crept forward so that she was kneeling between his legs, leaning down to nip at his lips.

Naruto opened up to her, his tongue darting into her mouth, and she moaned at the contact. His hands slid up her back, over her shoulders, and rested at the back of her neck, tugging on her hair. Her arms tightened around him, and Naruto had never been so happy.

When she pulled back, she took his hands in hers. "When you imagined us having kids, what did you imagine?" Her eyes were teasing but also serious.

Shrugging his shoulders, Naruto answered, "Just us as a happy family. I imagine us in the kitchen on Sundays all getting messy while we try to make brunch together. Or playing in the backyard, training them to be great shinobi. Or on lazy days when the kids come and wake us up and we're all crammed in bed trying to sleep."

That all sounded perfect. If they could even have half of that, Sakura would be the luckiest girl in the world. "How many kids do you imagine?"

"Usually three," he rubbed the back of his head. "A boy and two girls, and they all take after their mama."

Sakura laughed, putting a hand to her forehead, "Gosh, I hope not!"

Naruto grabbed her hand. "Forehead, pink hair, and all," he insisted. "The only thing I worry about is messing them up. I don't know how to be a dad." His sunny countenance wavered, and Sakura's heart constricted.

"You are going to be the best dad, and I'm not just saying that because I love you-which I do. But because you know what not to do," Sakura reminded him. "You will be a good dad for the situations you've been imagining. A good person worries about how they will affect other people. But you will be present in their lives, training with them, playing with them, teaching them. Are we going to fuck up? Yeah, probably a lot. Is it going to be so hard some days? Of course. But we will have each other, and we'll figure it out together. As a family."

"I hope they have your compassion and understanding," Naruto smiled at her sheepishly.

"I hope they have resilience and determination," Sakura countered.

"I love you," he smiled, leaning forward to kiss her again.

"I love you, too," she met him in the middle, as she always would.

The next morning, they stopped into the floral shop and told Ino to round up everyone for a celebratory dinner that night but didn't give her any details. Sakura kept her ring hidden so as to not give away the ending. Ino was suspiciously curious but said she would oblige.

With that out of the way, Naruto and Sakura walked hand and hand to her parents for lunch. The one thing Naruto wasn't used to was how loud their house got when they visited. Between Sakura's dad, Kizashi's booming laughter and corny jokes, and Sakura's mom, Mebuki scolding them for not taking their shoes off closer to the door, or not sitting in the proper order at the table, or something else minute, and Sakura arguing with either of them, it was boisterous to say the least.

But Naruto liked it. He'd rather a loud house than the silent one that used to greet him every day. Some days, he feared all this was a dream and he'd wake up alone back in his old apartment, expired milk in the fridge and ramen littering his kitchen counters.

Before they'd even taken their first bite, Sakura's mother grabbed Sakura's hand and practically shrieked, "What is this?" she was twisting Sakura's hand to see the ring from all angles.

"I believe that's a ring," Sakura's father sing-songed suggestively. He leaned over and gripped Naruto's shoulder and gave it a firm squeeze. "Congratulations, you two!"

"Thanks," Naruto rubbed the back of his head.

"Naruto proposed last night, and we wanted to tell you first," Sakura smiled at her mother, who was now dreamily looking at the ring.

"If you would have told me, I would have made something much better than meatloaf to celebrate!" Mebuki told them.

"Then it wouldn't have been a surprise!" Sakura reminded her. "And the food is great. We wouldn't have wanted you to do anything differently.

"I am so happy for you both," she reached out and hugged Sakura and then Naruto. "It's about time honestly. Your father and I were wondering when you would get around to going to the next step. The real question is when can we expect to meet our first grandchild?"

"Mom!" Sakura chastised. "Can't you be satisfied that we're getting married? Let's not push it. When Naruto and I decide to have kids, we'll let you know."

"Okay okay," Mebuki put her hands up in surrender.

They spent the rest of the visit chatting about when the wedding would be and what it could look like. Mebuki and Sakura making plans on when they'd go look for traditional wedding kimonos, who they wanted to be there, and more details than Naruto cared to keep up with. Kizashi gave Naruto a knowing look. "Just smile and nod."

When Sakura and Naruto arrived at the celebratory dinner, all of their friends were there. Ino must have known it would be big because she'd even gotten Kakashi, Shizune, and Tsunade to join them. Their party was split between a few tables in the back of one of their favorite restaurants. They made sure to arrive a little late to make sure everyone else was there.

There was only one face missing from the group, someone they would need to tell separately. Sasuke Uchiha. They both wished he would be back in the village, but one never knew when he would come and go, and they had decided a long time ago that they would no longer put their lives on hold for him. Sakura hoped they'd get to tell him in person versus sending a scroll.

Sasuke and her had talked through their relationship a long time ago and were in a good place. He was still their friend, on some adventure trying to redeem himself. He deserved their candor and Naruto and Sakura wanted to give it to him in person. Though if he didn't come back soon, a scroll would have to do.

Before they sat down, Naruto addressed the tables, "I'm sure you're all wondering what we are here to celebrate."

As Sakura was about to bring her hand up to show off her ring, Kiba yelled out, "Are you pregnant?"

"Kiba!" Hinata whispered, leaning over Shino to give him a pointed look.

To which Ino scoffed, "They're obviously engaged."

Naruto and Sakura exchanged glances before Sakura put her hand up in defeat. "How did you know?"

There were a series of groans and cheers through the tables, and Naruto came to find out there had been a bet going on whether they were pregnant or getting married.

Ino shrugged, flicking her hair over her shoulder, and jutting her chin out like the know-it-all she was being. "Please, you were hiding your hand this morning when you stopped by the shop."

"And also Mebuki called her," Sai told them.

"Hey," Inu smacked his arm. "I knew I shouldn't have told you."

"I can't believe you all knew already!" Sakura cried, exasperated.

"In my defense," Shikamaru said, "Choji and I helped put up the lights. But we didn't tell anyone." He gave a pointed look in Ino's direction. Choji joining in

"Sakura, if it makes you feel better, we didn't know," Shizune told her with a smile, indicating Tsunade and Kakashi.

"I had my suspicions," Kakashi said.

"Honestly, I forgot you two weren't already engaged," Tsunade shrugged.

"It is about time," TenTen told them.

"Congratulations to the happy couple!" Lee called out, lifting his glass in the air. The others all followed suit.

Naruto and Sakura exchanged glances before bursting out laughing. Only their group of friends could turn this moment into something crazy and unexpected. They were truly lucky and wouldn't have it any other way.
