U.A. Academy: Class 1-A
"Take your feet off of that desk now!" A familiar voice exclaimed.
"Huh?" Another voice snarkily replied.
"It's the first day, and you're already disrespecting this academy by scuffing school property, you cretin." The first voice explained.
"You're kidding me, right?" The other guy retorted. "Your old school put a stick up your ass, or were you born with it?"
Goku noted how uneasy Izuku seemed; however, he couldn't quite figure out why. As for the two students making a scene, he at least recognized the blue haired guy from the exam.
"Let's start over." The guy with glasses regained his composure. "I'm Tenya Iida from the Soumya Private Academy."
"Soumei, huh?" The other guy didn't change his attitude in the slightest. "So, you must think you're better than me. Oh, I'm going to have fun tearing you a new one."
If Goku had to wager a guess, he'd say this guy got a lot of praise for his Quirk as a kid. It was equally as likely that his Quirk was seen as the strongest wherever he'd been creating a concoction for his lack of respect.
"You would threaten me?" Tenya responded shocked. "Your own classmate? Are you sure you're in the right place?"
The two then turned to see Goku walk in with Izuku.
"Uh, hi." Izuku nervously stated while trying to stay positive.
"Good morning." Tenya greeted the two as he walked over to them. "My name is Tenya Iida, and I…"
"Y-Yeah, we know." Izuku sheepishly replied while still trying to keep his cool. "I'm Izuku Midoriya, and it's super nice to meet you."
"The name's Goku Shield." Goku grinned. "It's great to be here."
"Midoriya and Shield." Tenya stated. "You two realized there was something more to the practical exam, didn't you?" They both shot him a confused expression. "You two must be very perceptive. Midoriya, I misjudged you. I must also admit that both of you are superior students."
Izuku was thinking how wrong that was; however, Goku spoke up. "Actually, I had no clue there was some other category by which we were judged." That got a shocked look from Tenya. "I heard someone was in trouble, so I merely acted. Simple as that."
"Simple as that…" Tenya stated while staring at him.
"Hey, I recognize those hair styles." Another voice spoke up from behind them. "Yours is messed up, and his is all spiky. Falling boy and leaping guy!"
Izuku and Goku turned to see the very girl they had both rushed in to save during the practical exam. The former of the current pair was staring at her awestruck.
"You two were great!" The girl exclaimed before looking at Izuku. "Your punch was amazing." She then looked to Goku. "You were able to clear away all that debris, leap so high, and land without any injury. "
Izuku was trying to keep whatever cool he had left while Goku simply scratched the back of his head.
"If you're just here to have friendly conversations, you can pack up your stuff now." A voice came from lower to the ground and outside the classroom.
Everyone looked outside the door and saw a guy, with black hair, in a sleeping bag. Izuku, Tenya, the girl, and Goku were all wondering why he was in a sleeping bag.
"Welcome to U.A's Hero Course." The guy stated before fidgeting around to let a juice pack pop out and drink it before unzipping from the sleeping bag. "It took eight seconds before you all shut up. That's not going to work. Time is precious. Rational students would understand that."
While Goku planned to say something back, he realized this guy wasn't wearing the school uniform, and he was much older than they were. This meant the guy was probably the Homeroom Teacher.
"Hello, I'm Shouta Aizawa." The man informed. "Your teacher."
"In that case, we should probably find our seats." Goku voiced.
"No need." Aizawa pulled another set of clothes out of the bag. "Put these on and head outside."
Though confused at first, everyone eventually did as they were told. After changing, Goku had to admit that this was an even better fit for fighting that his uniform. Beyond the fact that this outfit was sturdier, it was even closer to how his gi felt than the school uniform.
Outside
"What?" Everyone questioned. "A quirk assessment test?"
"But orientation." The girl from earlier spoke up. "We're going to miss it."
"If you really want to make the big leagues, you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies." Aizawa explained. "Here at U.A., we're not tethered to traditions. That means I get to run my class however I see fit."
Everyone but Goku seemed a bit uncomfortable with this. It's not like he couldn't understand where his classmates were coming from, but U.A. had to be one of the best schools in the world for a reason. Doing what any prior or other school would wasn't it.
"You've been taking standardized test most of your lives, but you've never got to use your Quirks in physical exams before." Aizawa continued. "The country is still trying to pretend we're all created equal by not letting those with the most power excel.
It's not rational. One day, the ministry of education will learn." He then turned his attention to Goku. "Shield, you managed to get the top spot in the entrance exam. What was your farthest distance throw with a softball when you were in junior high?"
"Roughly 70 meters." Goku replied.
"Right." Aizawa commented. "Try doing it with your Quirk." Goku got into position with the ball in hand. "Anything goes; however, you must stay in the circle and hold nothing back."
Goku got into a stance to launch the ball and threw it with all his might. It soared through the air at a rapid rate until no one could see it anymore. Everyone looked on stunned.
"All of you need to know your maximum capabilities." Aizawa explained. "It's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a Pro Hero."
He held up the result to show 1415.7 meters as the distance. While some were amazed by the result, others wanted to have a go at it and were getting excited about using their Quirks as much as they want.
Then, Aizawa said something while making sure everyone paid attention. "So, this looks fun?" He sounded disappointed. "You have three years here to become a hero. You think it's all going to be games and playtime?" He then smirked. "Idiots. Today, you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last has none and will be expelled immediately."
That shocked everyone while Goku looked on fiercely. Such a point might have been extreme, but it made sense. He could tell his teacher was serious; however, Goku was equally as serious about what he believed in. If it came down to it, he'd act.
"Additionally, anyone who holds back on purpose will be expelled regardless of what position they come in." Aizawa continued. "Like I said, I get to decide how this class runs, understand? If that's a problem, you can head home right now."
"You can't send one of us home!" The girl from earlier spoke up. "I mean, we just got here. Even if it wasn't the first day, that isn't fair!"
"Do you think natural disasters will be?" Goku questioned seriously getting everyone's attention. "Will you assume a villain plays fair? The simple fact is that the world is full of unfairness which is why Hero's exist. If we become Heroes, we must combat that unfairness."
"Hm, looks like one of you gets it." Aizawa gave no indication if he was impressed or not. "If you want to be a pro, you must push yourself to the brink. For the next three years, U.A. will throw one terrible hardship after another at you. So go beyond, Plus Ultra style." He gestured the students to step up. "Show me it's no mistake that you're here."
Tenya got a bottle of water and took a sip getting himself fueled up. The loud guy was stretching while getting pumped. The girl from before was mentally preparing while Izuku was still nervous as ever.
"I'm not done with the point I want to make." Goku declared. "I know for a fact that we'll show you we all have what it takes to be a Hero."
"Show me with your actions; not your words." Aizawa retorted. "Let the games begin."
First up was the 50-meter dash which had everyone pair off. Goku went first alongside Tenya. The later scored 3.04 and came in first for the event overall; however, the former came in second overall with a score of 3.10.
Next was grip strength. So far, a tall, muscular student with six total arms, three on each side, had the highest score at 540.0 kg. Then, Goku went and ended up busting the machine at a score of 1000.0 kg which drew the attention of two students.
One of them was a tall, young teen with a slightly less bulky build than the six armed guy and with long black hair. He was with a student who had shorter black hair, a lanky frame, and protrusions in his elbows.
The lanky guy was shocked. "Whoa, this shouldn't be too surprising given how far you chucked that ball, but that's an insane number."
"Guess these machines weren't expecting someon like you." The long, black-haired guy smirked. "This coupled with your ball throw and fifty-meter dash makes you a guy to watch out for."
Goku merely took the praise in stride. Next came the standing long jump which Goku effortlessly cleared. Then, came repeated side steps which saw Aizawa stopping Goku at 500 considering they still had tests to get through.
They then returned to the ball throw which Goku didn't have to participate in considering his score was already recorded. In the end, it was only beaten out by that girl that he had saved in the entrance exam as her Quirk made it float forever giving her an infinite score.
Now, it was Izuku's turn to throw. He geared up for the throw, and it looked like he was getting ready to feel some serious pain. Goku could just see him flinch as his veins started to glow. They just as quickly died down the moment he threw the ball and nothing spectacular happened.
The distance was 46 meters, and Izuku looked devastated. "What gives?" He looked at his hand. "I was trying to use it just now."
"I erased your quirk." Aizawa's eyes glowed red, his hair was standing up, and his scarf now floated around him as he spoke. "The judges for this exam were not rational enough. Someone like you should never be allowed to enroll at this school."
Goku was going to speak up, but Izuku did first. "Wait, you did what to my…" He stopped and noticed the man's accessories. "Those goggles… I know you. You can look at someone and cancel out their powers. The Erasure Hero, Eraser Head."
"You're not ready." Aizawa scolded. "You don't have control over your power. Were you planning to break your bones again? Counting on someone else to save your useless body?"
"No, that's not what I was trying to do." Izuku declared before getting grabbed by the scarf and violently pulled before Aizawa's face.
"No matter what your intentions are, you would be nothing more than a liability in battle." Aizawa continued. "You have the same reckless passion as another overzealous Hero I know. One who saved a thousand people by himself and became a legend.
Even with that drive, you're worthless if you can only throw more than a single punch. Sorry Midoriya, but with your power, there's no way you can become a Hero." He released the boy and ceased his Quirk. "I've returned your impractical quirk. Take your final throw."
"I've only got one shot at nailing this, so what am I going to do?" Izuku quietly asked himself.
Goku let what happened play out; however, hearing that meant he could no longer stay silent. "You can do it Izuku!" Everyone jumped and looked at him. "Show our teacher he's wrong! Show him you have want it takes to be a hero!"
Goku noticed all eyes were on him, but he didn't care. He said what he needed to. Aizawa was annoyed at that outburst, but he turned to Izuku once more who looked more determined than before. He geared up, got ready, and threw the ball with all the force he could using his Quirk to make it go flying just as far as Katsuki at 705.3 meters.
"Mr. Aizawa." Izuku looked to his teacher and clenched his fist which only had a single, broken finger. "You see? I'm still standing."
This caused Aizawa to smile. "This kid…"
Everyone had their own critique. Some people praised the throw while others noted how it cost his finger to do. Goku just cheered for Izuku and complimented him on how he showed Aizawa what for. He then noticed the angry kid fire up his palms and run at Izuku.
"HEY!" The boy yelled. "DEKU, YOU BASTARD! TELL ME HOW YOU DID THAT OR YOUR DEAD!"
Goku immediately acted and blitzed into the angry kid knocking him to the ground. "Back off!" he came to stand protectively before Izuku. "I won't tolerate someone attacking him like this."
"Move it spiky hair, or you'll be even more dead than he is!" The angry kid demanded while getting ready for a fight.
"Try me." Goku retorted firmly.
The boy started to run at him but was grabbed by Aizawa's scarf stopping him in place.
"Why… Why the hell is your damn scarf… so strong?" The angry kid struggled to speak as he still tried to get at Goku.
"Because it's a capture weapon made out of carbon fiber and a special metal alloy." Aizawa informed before looking at both boys. "Stand down the both of you. It would be wise to avoid making me use my quirk so much since it gives me serious dry eye."
The rest of the class still thought it was amazing, but Goku kept his guard up until the angry guy backed down. When he finally stopped resisting, Aizawa let him go. Goku decided to walk with Izuku to make sure that angry guy wouldn't try anything.
Next test was sit-ups, and just like with the side step. Goku was stopped after 500 to allow the tests to proceed. During these last tests, Goku was keeping an eye on Izuku just in case the angry guy tried anything. Then came the seated toe touch.
This one Goku topped like other events mainly because martial arts could make someone quite flexible. Lastly, was the long distance run with Tenya and Goku taking the top two spots. Once every event was done, Aizawa gathered the students.
"Alright, time to give you your results." Aizawa lazily informed. "I've ranked you all from best to worst. You should probably have a good idea of your standing already. I'll just pull up the whole list. It's not worth going over each individual score."
He pulled up the list and the results are:
Goku Shield 1st
Momo Yaoyorozu 2nd
Shoto Todoroki 3rd
Katsuki Bakugou 4th
Tenya Iida 5th
Yamcha (N/A) 6th
Fumikage Tokoyami 7th
Mezo Shoji 8th
Mashairao Ojiro 9th
Eijiro Kirishima 10th
Mina Ashido 11th
Ochaco Uraraka 12th
Koji Koda 13th
Tsuyu Asui 14th
Yuga Aoyama 15th
Hanta Sero 16th
Denki Kaminari 17th
Kyoka Jiro 18th
Toru Hagakure 19th
Izuku Midoriya 20th
Each student had their own thoughts going through their minds, but all of them, except one, knew that they were safe. The one who was ready for the worst was Izuku since he was in last place meaning that he was going to be expelled.
"If you're going to expel Izuku, then expel me as well!" Goku declared.
Aizawa stopped in his tracks before staring at Goku shocked and almost angry at what he just heard. "What did you just say?"
"I said, if you expel Izuku, then expel me as well." Goku stepped right up to Aizawa and looked him dead in the eye. "I've seen Izuku's dedication in the brief time I've known him, and before even that I saw that he has the heart of a Hero same as me. That's why I go if he goes."
The entire class was silent while Izuku frantically ran over to the younger Shield trying to say something. Aizawa simply used his scarf and moved the broken boned boy to the side while covering his mouth.
"You'd willingly throw your chance at being a Hero away for someone who has zero potential?" Aizawa questioned.
"Izuku has plenty of potential." Goku was not backing down. "Did you forget that he called your judgement of his Quirk out with his softball throw? As for my dream, you can forget it ending with an expulsion because I'll never stop trying to achieve it."
The students were all shocked to hear that to the point that Tenya ended up commenting. "You are insane! Offering to go through expulsion while insulting the teacher's methods is only going to end your career as a hero! Stop this act of harassment before you get in more trouble!"
"Heroes don't step on their comrades to get to their goals." Goku retorted firmly.
That shut Iida up and silenced anyone else who wanted to say anything. Aizawa looked at Goku intensely, but the student didn't back down. The air was very tense. Not only was the best student overall volunteering to be expelled, but he even challenged the teacher's judgement.
Izuku struggled to get free and try to help the guy sticking up for him before he was released and Aizawa closed his eyes. "If you didn't interrupt me, I was going to say that I lied about the expulsion."
"WHAT!" Everyone except Momo exclaimed in unison.
"It was the most effective way to get the best results." Aizawa explained. "Then, Goku offered to be expelled with Midoriya, so I decided to test him. See if he would back down. If he did, I would have expelled him alone."
The rest of the class looked at Goku like he was crazy, and almost all of them asked why he did that. The younger Shield simply said that it was the right thing to do. He didn't regret it and would have done it for anyone else.
"That's it. We're done for the day." Aizawa walked off. "Pick up a syllabus in the classroom and read it over before tomorrow morning." He stopped and handed over a paper to Izuku. "Midoriya, take this and go have the old lady fix you up. Things are going to be tougher tomorrow when your actual training begins, so make sure you're prepared."
Outside U.A.: After School…
Goku ended up taking Izuku to the nurse's office and stuck with him for the rest of the day. They even ended up leaving the school together where Tenya ended up approaching them and placing a hand on Izuku's shoulder.
"Ah, hey there Iida." Izuku greeted a bit surprised.
"How's the broken finger doing?" Tenya asked sincerely.
"Oh, it's doing fine thanks to Recovery Girl." Midoriya responded calmer now.
The three of them walked together as Iida spoke up. "I was a bit concerned by Mr. Aizawa's approach to class, but I trust the school's judgement. U.A. is the top program. Even so, lying is downright immoral."
Goku and Izuku smiled at this since Iida wasn't a bad guy. He just took things very seriously.
"Heeeeeey!" A familiar female voice spoke out. "Wait up you three! Are you going to the station? I'll join you guys!"
It was the very same bubbly girl from before.
"You're the infinity girl." Tenya commented.
"I'm Ochaco Uraraka." She said while nodding to conform Iida's statement about her score on the softball throw. "Let's see. Your name is Tenya Iida," She then looked at Goku. "You're Goku Shield."
"That's right." Goku nodded. "Nice to officially meet you."
"Likewise." She declared happily before looking at Izuku. "And your name is Deku, right? Midoriya?"
"Deku?" Izuku questioned looking a bit shocked.
"Uh, yeah." Uraraka confirmed. "Isn't that what Bakugou called you?"
"So that angry guy must be Katsuki Bakugou." Goku thought before looking to the green haired youth. "That's a good point. Why'd he call you that, and not by your real name?"
Izuku was nervous. "Deku's what Kacchan calls me to make fun of me."
"Well, that sounds sportsman like." Tenya sarcastically commented.
"Oh, I didn't realize that. I'm sorry." Ochaco apologized. "But you know I like Deku. I think it would make a great Hero name. Plus I think it sounds kind of cute."
Izuku turned red.
"Deku it is." Izuku declared quickly.
"Just like that?" Iida pointed out. "Weren't you saying that it was an insult?"
"Well, names can have multiple meanings." Goku reasoned.
"While you do bring up a valid point, it stands to question the sudden acceptance of that name." Tenya responded.
Izuku was covering his face and getting even more red while Ochaco was just confused. Regardless, the four of them decided to walk with each other to the station. It was fun. Goku got along fine with people back home, but it was nice being around other hero hopefuls for a change.
Just because I basically said I wouldn't make Goku truly beyond his fellow students didn't mean I wouldn't make him strong. I will say that you should keep in mind that everyone will have taken note of Goku through this. Just that alone is already going to begin making subtle impacts on people. As for Bakugo not freaking out on Goku, in canon he came below Shoto and Momo, yet his focus was still on Izuku.
As I've said before, this Earth isn't in another universe nor is this Goku being born into the world of My Hero. This Earth is now the one within the dragon world which means any character from Dragon Ball through Super can show up. Additionally, the fact that this is a different Earth, I think, does give some freedom to messing with ages. Even canon retconned Goku's age due to Minus and Super Broly.
The last thing I must address is that Mineta and Rikado were the people I decided to remove from this class to make room for Goku and Yamcha. Class 1-A already only has 8 girls compared to 12 guys in canon, so removing a girl from the class just wasn't an option for me unless I decided to replace them with another girl character. I will now give you Yamcha's Quirk:
"Yamcha"
His Quirk: Wolf's Ferocity
At his discretion, he can take on sharper nails and canines while gaining greater strength, speed, and ferocity; however, he must eat protein on the daily. or his Quirk simply won't work until his next intake of protein.
3bodyjaa: Thanks
ArguableReader: When it comes to Goku's tail, David wasn't skilled enough to save it that night he patched him up. In the end, it was much easier to remove what hadn't been snapped off in the impact completely. That said, there is a different way Saiyans could access their Great Ape side, but you may or may not have to wait on that. As for Goku's appetite, it did come up twice before, and it is still very much part of Goku. As for Iida, all characters have their own ways in which they still need to grow.
When it came to how I'd portray Goku, I did put thought into how each person I put on that wheel I spun would raise Goku. Ultimately, Goku is a different kind of smart in his own series. Here, he will endure it as he knows some book smarts are import to his future goal. As for power levels, I'll let people draw they're on conclusions on where people within this story will stand in terms of that. Maybe, if/when I ever get to a Z portion of this story, people might be able to look back to figure that out.
