Chapter 127 Elite Four: Laura and Bennett

Back at the other Leagues, the Champions, Professors, and Ash's Travel Companions are watching the battle.

May: That girl is really strong...even though she is so young.

Lance: That girl is Heather Molinar, the Elite Four was given to her by her deceased mother. That's what I've heard. She recently became an orphan because her father committed suicide. And according to my cousin, Ash was actually there to witness the whole thing, and that's why he and his mother promised to adopt her to the family.

Kiawe: To think Ash would witness something like that. No wonder he changed a lot...

Dawn: But isn't Lillie and Serena beside Ash? What are they doing there?

Professor Oak: It is obvious that they are there to cheer on Ash. I guess they have been with Ash ever since the Grandview Station reopened?

Kukui: From what I've heard, they have been helping rebuild the Reborn City ever since it is destroyed by Team Meteor.

Max: So what's the deal with this Team Meteor? Why are they trying to destroy the Reborn Region.

Cynthia: Let's say their goals are Team Flare and Team Galactic combined. They want to use Arceus' Powers to recreate the new world. They won't hesitate to kill as well, I heard that the former Champion was killed by them.

Rowan: (Nods) To achieve their goals, they want the four keys that are scattered, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and Amethyst. Delia told me that her family once held the Amethyst, and that's why she and Ash has to flee to Kanto while leaving her husband and the rest of the children there.

Cilan: That sounds really sad...

Kukui: Delia has sent me the documents about the four items. Heather has the Ruby Ring, it was actually an item that was given to Heather's mother as the wedding gift, and because of this gift, Heather lost her mother and her father was forced to work with Team Meteor until Ash exposed him and the whole suicide thing. Team Meteor once had the item, but it was taken and was in Ash's hands for the time being. It was until they get to Ametrine City that he returns to Heather.

Mallow: That really sounds dangerous...(Notices the screen) Ash is going to the next Elite Four now...

Then they decide to stop discussing and watch how Ash walks towards the next Elite Four chamber.

While continuing walking, they find that the weather is rainy, and they seem to be moving upward.

Serena: Are we even inside of a building? I mean, we were just at a cliffside...

Ash: I know this place is weird, but we still have to move forward.

Then after walking for a while, they stop in front of a small house, with Laura standing in front of them.

Laura: Welcome, Ash, to my garden. I believe this encounter has been a long time coming.

Ash: I see you got your Elite Four status back, Laura. Good for you.

Laura: I've heard much about your exploits. And I understand that you were a driving force behind waking me up when I was under Hypno's spell. For this and everything else that you've done for my sisters, you have my eternal gratitude. However, I'm afraid there is one complication, as you may be aware...

At the moment, Bennett also arrives and greets them, Ash is surprised to see his cousin here as well.

Bennett: Well met, Ash.

Ash: Bennett, you're here as well?

Laura: This was the compromise we reached.

Bennett: I think you know by now that Reborn's Elite 4 are dual-typed anyway. After discussing the issue with the folks down at the Grand Hall, they determined there was no harm in splitting those two types between two people. As long as we stick to the six Pokémon limit, it's effectively a typical match.

Laura: I am aware that Bennett has a somewhat colored history, but I ask that you treat us as one and the same. I do not believe that one's condition in the past should determine their treatment in the present. I would not be so well-off if that were the case either... And the damage done to any flower is erased each spring when a new one blooms.

Bennett: Adaptation to the circumstances is a necessary trait for any organism.

Laura: And nature possesses beauty exactly because it is ever-changing.

Bennett: Those who do not change inevitably fall behind in the world. I have no intention of falling behind and I hope, Ash, that you do not either. Laura and I will endeavor as partners to adapt to each other's battling style. Show us, Ash, how you've adapted to your conditions!

Ash: Of course. I'm ready for both of you in this battle.

Then they decide to have a Double Battle, with Bennett and Laura fighting Ash at the same time, with each of them using three Pokemon while Ash uses all six. Bennett goes for Galvantula while Laura goes for Whimsicott. Ash decides to go with Garchomp and Lucario, he also notices that the field is the Flower Field, a field that he hasn't battled before.

Serena: So Laura is a Grass Leader.

Lillie: And Bennett is a Bug Leader, which means both types are good at the Flower Garden...

Galvantula goes for Sticky Web, which tries to slow the speed after Ash switches to another Pokemon. Ash decides to go with Flash Cannon from Lucario, and it hits Whimsicott, dealing a lot of damage. But Whimsicott goes for Growth, which boasts a lot of stats. Then Laura goes for Dazzling Gleam, hitting both Pokemon with a lot of damage.

Lillie: Ash really is in trouble with this kind of field...

Then Ash decides to switch out to Sceptile from Lucario, but with the field-effect, it gets slower. Bennett has Galvantula use Bug Buzz, which deals a lot of damage to Sceptile.

Ash: Sceptile! Let's finish the Whimsicott first! Use Poison Jab!

Sceptile slams the attack before it can go for Giga Drain, and then the Poison move knocks out the Whimsicott in the end. Laura goes for her second Pokemon: Venusar, and also, the Flower Garden is also going stage 3 because of the rain.

Serena: This is not going to do well for Ash...

In stage two, Bug and Grass moves are increased with their attacks, and Ash has Garchomp goes for Rock Slide, trying to make them flinch. Galvantula goes for Bug Buzz again, trying to hit Sceptile, but Sceptile manages to dodge the attack and goes for Poison Jab, hitting Galvantula again.

Ash: Garchomp is taking a lot of damage... (Recalls Garchomp) I'll choose Greninja next.

Everyone is confused as to why Ash is using Greninja, but Greninja goes for Water Shuriken, with the rain helping out, it defeats Galvantula.

Bennett: That was really unexpected.

He goes for Volcarona as his second Pokemon, and Ash decides to recall Sceptile and sends back Garchomp to the battle.

Lillie: Ash is playing smart I see.

Serena: But the Sticky Web might be a problem.

And Ash also notices that after a lot of battles, the field is going to stage 5, which means Grass Type is not affected, but on the other hand, Fire and Bug Type attacks also boost.

Garchomp goes for Stone Edge, aiming the Volcarona, but Volcarona goes for Bug Buzz, which deals a lot of damage. Then Greninja goes for Ice Beam, hitting the Venusaur, but Venusaur goes for Sleep Powder, causing Greninja to fall asleep.

Laura: I'm sorry, Ash. But I'm going to win this.

Laura is doing the Z Move Bloom Doom, and the attack causes Greninja to get knocked out. Ash is sad that Greninja lost the battle, but he is also relieved that he doesn't use Bond Phenomenon or else it is going to get hurt.

Ash: Sceptile! I need your help again.

Then Ash has Sceptile out, but Volcarona goes for Heat Wave to deal a lot of damage to the Pokemon, and in the end, Sceptile manages to do a lot of damage with the Z Move Continental Crush and knocked out Volcarona, but fainted after Venusaur uses Hidden Power, which is Fire Type.

Serena: Ash now has four more Pokemon while Laura has two and Bennett has one left.

Ash: Lucario! You're back!

And Bennett's final Pokemon is Leavanny, much to his surprise since it is both Bug and Grass, and the field-effect is going to do a great deal on this Pokemon. Lucario goes for Bone Rush, slamming the attack on Venusaur, but Venusaur uses Sleep Powder to make Lucario asleep as well, and Leavanny goes for Fell Stinger, knocking the Pokemon out.

Ash: Pikachu! You're next.

Pikachu jumps into the field, and it goes for Iron Tail, slamming into Venusaur, and Garchomp manages to wake up from the Sleep Powder from Venusaur and uses Flamethrower, eventually defeating the Venusaur.

Laura: Everything is blossoming quite nicely for you, isn't it? I hope you cherish this moment.

The final Pokemon for Laura is Lilligant, and it goes for the Petal Blizzard, knocking Garchomp out of the battle. Ash goes for Charizard, and uses the Mega Stone to make it Mega Charizard X.

Ash: Time to get serious. Use Heat Wave!

Laura tries to stop Charizard by using Sleep Powder, but Pikachu jumps into the way and falls asleep instead. Charizard notices it and it continues to attack, and eventually both Pokemon are fainted after using Petal Blizzard and Giga Drain on Pikachu, knocking it out.

Bennett: Impressive. I'll make a note to study this later. (Recalls both Pokemon) Ash, do you know what "Apolysis" is?

Ash: I guess it is another one of the things with the Bug Type Pokemon?

Bennett: Impressive! Then you may already understand how well you're growing.

Laura: Butterflies and buttercups are not so terribly different. Everyone must find beauty in their own struggle to grow. I hope you do not miss the beauty in yours.

Bennett: One more thing before you go, Ash. I owe you this. It should not have left your care in the first place.

Laura: And mine as well. One-half of the pair will hardly do you well. It is better in your hands for the purpose it was meant, than in mine as a simple memento.

Then Ash received the Sapphire Bracelets as a gift for beating them.

Bennett: No more time to waste though. Your path is forward still.

Ash: Thanks, Laura, Bennett.

Then Ash, Serena, and Lillie are now moving forward.

Serena: Now you also have the Sapphire Bracelets as well.

Ash: Quite ironic since I was having them until I got controlled by the PULSE Hypno...

Lillie: You were able to defeat all 36 Pokemon with just the six of them that you're using. I know you can sweep through the League without any problem.

Ash: You're right about that. And the Sapphire Bracelets...I have been holding to them most of the time because of Amaria and Titania...but now I'm holding them again...

Serena: This time you're not going to lose them.

And here is another new chapter of the Reborn Elite Four battle. As you can see, Bennett and Laura are going to share the Elite Four when you first battle, but after this one, because of one member's absence, they would be separated and each of them would be using two types. The hint of their second type is from the Pokemon that they used. Just like how Heather has Crobat, the Pokemon that has two of the types that she specializes. I hope you like this chapter and the next chapter is going to be about the third Elite Four member.
