"Ah! It's him! It's Hawks! Hi Hawks!" a voice excitedly shouted. The voice belonged to a female teenager, a high-school student who was walking home from school. Her exclamation caught the attention of several other civillians, who then looked up towards the sky, where a familiar winged hero flown. They all smiled and eagerly waved their hands and cheered, hoping to catch Hawks' attention. Said hero looked down at his fans and flashed them a cheeky smile.

"Heyo!" he shouted back, waving a gloved hand to his adoring fans.

"I love you Hawks!" one girl shouted, jumping up and down to make herself more visible to him.

Hawks winked at her and even proceeded to blow a kiss at said girl. "I love you too, baby bird~."

The girl's face went instantly red and Hawks could've sworn she fainted right there on the spot. He chuckled to himself. The winged hero flapped his wings faster, flying even faster to his destination. After about five more minutes, Hawks landed swiftly on the roof of his house. He stood up and stretched his wings and body, finally relieved to be on stable ground again. He kneeled down to the ground and lifted up a large, square opening. This was his secret way of getting inside his house without receiving any unnecessary attention from fans or news reporters. Don't get him wrong, Keigo loves getting attention day and night, but everyone needs a break.

Hawks jumped in through the opening, now immediately landing in his living room. Many people would call his house impressive for someone as young as himself, but honestly? Keigo would prefer a smaller environment. He jokes that it's because of his bird instincts and how he was raised when he was much younger.

He had a large black couch facing the flat-screen TV, along with several smaller egg-shaped chairs, also colored black. The kitchen was connected to the living, only a few mere steps away. Bedrooms were located upstairs and he only has three rooms: his room and two guest rooms. Each room also had their own bathroom.

After taking off his jacket and tossing it on the kitchen table, Keigo basically threw himself on the couch and let out a loud sigh.

"Finally, I can finally relax now." he said, sounding absolutely delighted that he can spend the rest of the day to himself.

He proceeded to slowly close his eyes and was about to fall asleep...until his stomach growled.

Keigo sighed again, this time now disappointed at the fact he forgot to grab something to eat before coming home. And he definitely did NOT feel like getting up and leaving his house to go out to eat at a restaurant. He just wanted to sit at home and be out the spotlight until tomorrow morning.

"Wait a sec! I forgot that I can just have food delivered here! I was getting upset over nothing, heh."

The winged man happily took out his phone from his pocket and started placing his order on a food delivery app. He smiled after pressing "Submit Order" and his wings fluttered. The app stated that his food will be delivered in about 35-45 minutes. Keigo nodded in confirmation, now looking up to aimlessly watch TV.

Some time goes by and his doorbell goes off loudly.

Keigo peeked his head over the couch he laid on and looked straight towards the door. He sent one of his feathers out underneath the door to make sure that someone's there.

After confirming that there was a presence, he quickly hopped off the couch and walked over to the door. On his food delivery, he explicitly stated that the food is to be set in front of his doorstep and the driver drives away. He feels a little bad, especially knowing that the driver's job is to make sure the food is received. He shrugs.

Meeting with one more person wasn't going to hurt. He was only getting his food after all.

"Hey! Thanks for deliv-"

Huh?

There's no food in his line of sight. Instead of food, there was a small wooden basket with a white blanket covering the top of it. The confused man tilted his head before kneeling down in front of the basket.

"Eh? What is this?"

He slowly unravels the blanket, eyes widening as he fully takes off the whole thing.

It was a baby.

It was a real, live baby.

Keigo froze as the baby stared at him, this time feeling a little intimidated. The baby looked only a couple months old, but it looked so unimpressed with everything. Almost like it had a resting bird face. Which was kind of funny to Keigo because the baby had a bird head, but a human body. He was a mutant, kind of like himself.

He sent out a lot of feathers, inside his house, outside his house, even in the bushes. Looking for any indicator for where the potential mother could be.

Nothing.

Did someone abandon this baby? And if so, why?

With no other choice, Keigo picks up the basket and walks back inside his house, quickly shutting the door.

His heart was now pounding.

Why, oh why, was there a BABY in front of HIS house? Was this some kind of joke? Did it just spawn there? And why is this baby so intimidating?!

He set the basket down in the living room and sat down in front of it, staring at it as if it was a parasite or something. Keigo loves being around kids, considering how they look up to him as a hero. But babies? Babies were another thing.

Most babies he came into contact with would be frightened by him due to his large wings. He tries to not let that get to him, but on some days, he wished it would be different.

"Um...hey there little one." Keigo started, offering the baby a gentle smile.

The baby slowly blinked it's red eyes before looking at their surroundings. It looked back up at the larger man and reached it's tiny arms out, wanting to be picked up. Keigo reached into the basket and tried to hold the baby, but it was awkward. He sighed. Oh well, this was the best he could do without dropping it.

"Got a name little birdie?" he questioned.

As if on cue, a small piece of paper dropped from the baby's shirt. One of the feather's caught it instantly and held it up to Keigo's face.

.

Hello there. If you are a good person, please take care of my son. I can't do it and motherhood just isn't for me. His name is Fumikage Tokoyami.

.

Keigo stared.

So this baby really was abandoned.

He looked down at the baby, who was now snuggling up against his chest. Keigo's large wings fluffed up a bit before instinctively wrapping themselves around the man and the small baby in his arms. Keigo gently patted Tokoyami's back, now feeling a sense of protectiveness.

Curse these bird instincts.

"Fumikage Tokoyami? That's definitely a mouthful. For now, I'll just call you Toko. Or Fumi. Or Little Bird."

Great. He only knew this baby for what, ten minutes? And he already has nicknames for the little one.

Keigo sat himself back down on the couch, leaning back comfortably. Just as he was about to move his hand, he heard tiny snores erupting from Tokoyami.

The baby fell asleep on him.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Wow. I haven't written a story in such a LONG time haha. I kinda like how this turned out so far. I can't really explain this story all too well: There'll be some cute stuff, probably some angst, and maybe some romance. Nothing too bad lmao.

I would love to hear what you guys think and maybe even some ideas? Thanks! :)
