A/N: Chapter two! This is set three days after the last chapter. Let me know what you think!

Emmet found Sonny sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch watching the sunrise. "Never good when ya find someone up watchin the sunrise." He hands Sonny a cup of coffee before taking a seat in the chair next to him.

Sonny takes a sip of the coffee. "Gene called early."

"That don't sound good." Emmet comments.

"It ain't." Sonny pauses. "The neurologists have declared her brain dead."

"Shit Sonny." Emmet rests a hand on his son's shoulder.

"LeAanne is gonna grow up with no memories of Hannah." Sonny lets out a deep breath. "And I'm gonna be a single parent with a one-year-old and a hella dangerous job."

"We'll figure it out son." Emmet tells him. "Right now, focus on Hannah and LeAnne."

"Accordin to Gene, Nancy wants me to bring LeAnne to Hannah one last time. And, I uh, I just don't know if that's a good idea."

"It might be good." Emmet counters.

"Ya don't think it will upset her that Hannah won't interact with her." Sonny rubs his hand down his face. "She's just gonna be lyin there."

"Ya don't wanna take her?" Emmet asks.

"Shit, Dad, I don't know what I wanna do." Sonny huffs. "I don't know what is best for her. This sounds bad, but I took a lot of comfort in the fact that Hannah was a great mom and that I never had to worry about LeAnne. But now here I am havin to make these choices."

Emmet hangs his head, remembering when he faces these same questions when his wife passed. "I know Sonny."

"I'm sorry Dad." Sonny shakes his head. "You've already lived this."

"But you were old enough to understand." Emmet responds.

"Is there a right answer here?" Sonny asks.

"The only right answer is the one you feel is correct." Emmet pauses. "I can't tell ya what to do. And for the fact of it, neither can Gene and Nancy. Hannah is their priority, she's their baby."

Sonny leans back in his chair. "This feels impossible."

"Alright little miss." Sonny says picking LeAnne up out of her car seat. "Now listen, I know ya don't understand what's goin on, but your grandparents really wanted ya to see your Mama one last time. It's gonna be different, she ain't gonna be awake. I'm gonna be here with ya the whole time."

Sonny knocks on the door to Hannah's hospital room. Gene looks up from his place at Hannah's bedside. "Sonny."

Sonny walks into the room. "Hey Gene." He shifts LeAnne to his other hip. "Ya good if we sit down?"

"By all means." Gene points to the empty chair on the other side of the bed. "Thank you for bringin LeAnne."

Sonny sits and puts LeAnne on his lap. "Yeah." He watches her reach for Hannah. "I'm still not sure if this is gonna upset her or not."

"Huh." Gene grunts.

"Look Gene, I know ya were never my biggest fan." Sonny starts.

Gene cuts him off. "Then you went and got my daughter pregnant and abandoned her."

"That." Sonny's eyes meet his. "That was never my intention. She shocked the hell outta me, showin up to my apartment unannounced right before I spun up. I know my initial reaction wasn't great. But I'm here now and I love this girl more than I could have ever imagined."

"You have barley seen her since she was born." Gene snaps back.

"Gene, I'm out of the country for work a lot."

"Emmet said you're takin her back to Virgina Beach with you." Gene pauses. "How are you gonna take care of her?"

Sonny takes a deep breath and looks down at his daughter in his arms. "I haven't figured out the details yet."

"I don't trust you." Gene tells Sonny.

Sonny nods trying to figure out how to respond to that. "Ima take good care of her. Ya forget my childhood, I'm not gonna put her through that. Ain't no way in hell she's gonna have a life like that."

"You're a man child." Gene grumbles.

"A few years ago, I would have agreed with ya." Sonny readjusts his grip on LeAnne. "I'm not gonna lie to ya, I don't have all of the answers, but I do love her and intend on givin her the best life she can have. I have amazin friends who will band together and help take care of her. She will always know how important she is."

"I guess we will see." Gene refocuses on Hannah.

"I would really prefer to not go into the most difficult time of my life tryin to prove ya wrong, but if that's how ya wanna have it, so be it." Sonny tells him.

"Oh Sonny." Nancy notes as she walks into the room. "Can I have her."

"Oh yeah." Sonny stands and hands LeAnne to Nancy. "Take a seat too."

Nancy sits down holding LeAnne. "How are you doing Sonny."

"I should be askin ya that." Sonny returns.

"Honestly Sonny, I'm sick of answering that question."

"Yeah, the how ya holdin ups are crap, aren't they." Sonny shifts.

"We have enough food for what feels like the next year." Nancy tells him.

"Good ol' Texas hospitality." Sonny offers.

"Something like that." Nancy scoots a little closer to the hospital bed. "We have decided to withdraw care." She looks between LeAnne and Hannah. "That's why I wanted you to bring LeAnne. We are doing it tonight."

"Wow." Sonny breaths out. "I, um, uh, can LeAnne and I have a minute alone with her?"

"Oh." Nancy looks at Gene before answering. "Of course. We'll go grab lunch."

"Thanks Nancy." Sonny says taking LeAnne back from her. He sits on the side of her bed. "Hey Hannah. I'll tell ya what, I never thought I would be here. I should be the one dyin, not ya." He shifts, letting LeAnne get closer to Hannah. "I don't want ya to worry bout this little girl, I promise ya I'm gonna take good care of her. She's gonna grow up happy and healthy. I'm sorry bout everything with us, I may not be in love with ya, but I do love as a friend and as the mother of my child." Sonny watches LeAnne curl up next to Hannah. "Just keep a good eye on us from the cosmics." He takes her hand. "We'll stay here a while with ya."

Sonny was sitting in the quite living room after putting LeAnne to bed. "Here son." Emmet hands him a beer.

"Thanks." Sonny takes the beer and flops back on the sofa, propping his feet up on the coffee table. "Today sucked."

"Are you glad you took her?" Emmet asks.

"Yeah." Sonny tilts his head to the side. "She curled up and slept next to her. She thought Hannah was takin a damn nap." He squeezes his eyes shut. "How long till she realizes Hannah ain't never comin home. Then I'm gonna go and take her to a place that ain't her home and without her Mama."

"It'll be an adjustment, but she'll get through it." Emmet pauses. "And so will ya."

"I know that Dad, it, uh, it just seems so far away right now." Sonny huffs. "I gotta pack up all of LeAnne's stuff and get it back to Bob Beach. Did ya hear that?" Sonny asks after hearing what sounded like knocking.

"Who in the hell would be knockin at this hour." Emmet asks. "I'll get it." He gets up before Sonny can protest. He opens the door to find a woman he doesn't know standing on the other side. "Ya sure ya got the right house, young lady?"

"If you're Emmet Quinn, I do." She returns.

"Ya must be lookin for Sonny." Emmet says stepping aside after she nods yes. He leads her into the living room where Sonny was still sitting on the sofa with head leaned back and his eyes closed.

"Sonny Quinn." She says before Emmet can speak.

Sonny's eyes shoot open. "L-lisa."
