While Xavier skinned the wolf Seth and tried creating something that could work as shoes for Saxa, she looked around inside his small cottage. She opened the closet door and saw a mirror hanging on the inside of the door. She could see a bedroom in it. It took a moment before she realized it was her bedroom she could see.
"Dude! What the fuck?" She asked. "You got some weird portal mirror to my bedroom? What the fuck is this about?"
He sighed and looked up at her.
"Everything in this world is magical. After some years I found an old witch named Lita that gave me that mirror in exchange for me fishing for her for three months. That was all I did from I woke up and till I fell asleep. I sat on a shore and fished for her. Did she eat those fish or use them for rituals? I don't fucking know, nor do I care. That mirror kept me going. It was a longing to see my family again," he said.
She felt sorry. He never got to see his family. She knew that.
"And they had moved out by then," she said. "So why did you keep the mirror?"
"It's still a link to my old world," he said.
"It's really creepy to know that you would have watched me have sex without me knowing," she said.
"I would never have watched that," he said.
"Dude! You live in a place where you never get pussy," she smirked. "You would have watched."
He chuckled at her and moved his knife through the wolf's skin again.
"Who says I can't get pussy around here? There are other humans," he said.
"Really?" She asked. "I thought those were slaves or dead or whatever."
"Okay, most of them are shapeshifters but they look human. The tribal chief is a shapeshifter. From human to bulldog. A motherfucking big one. One bite and your entire throat is gone," he said.
"That's why the wolves could talk," she said lowly. "From humans to wolves. Shapeshifters."
"And he has a weird thing with eating chili constantly," he said.
"His ass must constantly be on fire then," she said.
They looked at each other and laughed. He placed the knife down and held up the skin he had worked on.
"There, let's see if we can somehow secure these around your feet so you can walk," he said.
She walked over to him and allowed him to wrap her feet.
"It looks alright," he smiled. "I don't suggest you go kung fu ninja on him though."
She smiled and nodded. This would have to do. She picked up the fur and put it on. There was made room for weapons under it. She needed something else than the crossbow.
"I'm gonna go drag the other wolf inside before anyone finds him and alerts Roman," he said.
He walked outside and she walked back to the weapons under the bed. She picked up some of them and placed them safely inside the fur. She wrapped the fur around her tighter and picked up the crossbow. She walked over to the magic mirror. She couldn't live knowing this existed. She took it down and smashed it down on the ground. It shattered and suddenly it was just normal mirror shards to look at. She closed the closet so that Xavier wouldn't see what she had done. He came back inside a minute later, dragging the wolf Dean after him.
"This cottage is gonna stink once you return," she said.
"I'm not coming back here," he said.
"Oh right. Stupid me. We're going home," she said. "Alright, Xavier, we got a tribal chief to slay. Lead the way."
"Actually, I arranged for a friend of mine to pick us up," he said.
They stepped outside just as a sleigh stopped in front of the cottage.
"Saxa, this is my friend Kofi," Xavier said.
"Does anyone need a ride?" Kofi asked cheerfully.
"Are those unicorns?" Saxa asked.
She was staring at the two animals in front of the sleigh. Big, white horses with a horn in their foreheads.
"They sure are," Kofi said.
"I already told you, everything in this world is magical," Xavier said.
"But unicorns?" Saxa asked.
"I was surprised in the beginning too," Xavier chuckled. "You can admire them on the way. Get on the sleigh. We got quite the ride ahead of us."
