Once the night fell and Nezuko's stomach no longer growled, the trio then was ready to depart.

The inn owner, however, was still skeptical of their relationship and refused to let the matter go even as they were leaving.

"... Do you really want to go with this mister, dear?" she asked Tanjirou in genuine concern. Giyuu let her be because her worry was not unfounded. After all, even he himself was not confident he could bring the two children safely to his Master's house. Not because of the demons, but because Tanjirou was a newborn demon and Nezuko was too young to travel with them. "It's especially dangerous to travel at night. Why do you have to leave at this time?"

"I'm, uh," Tanjirou glanced at Giyuu. "Sentisive?"

"Sensitive."

"Right. Sensitive to sunlight," he told the inn owner, smiling. For some reason he looked proud, as if he was amazed of himself that he knew a difficult word. "My skin will go red if I go out in the afternoon, so we gotta go at night."

"... I see," the inn owner said, pity clear in her voice. "Still, you are very young, your sister even more so. What if you get hurt?"

"Don't worry, Ba-chan," Tanjirou put his hands on his hips and puffed out his chest. "I know how to take care of myself and my lil' sis. I'm a big boy!"

"Unfortunately not mature enough, in my opinion," the inn owner sighed. "Too many times have I seen kids your age getting taken advantage of. You have to be more wary of strangers, young man."

"But Tomioka-san is really not a bad man," Tanjirou pouted in disapproval. "Besides, Mommy had taught me how to protect myself if a bad man comes for me."

The inn owner wasn't convinced. "Scream for help?"

"Kick the crotch!" Tanjirou answered enthusiastically. He even demonstrated it by kicking the air. There was a decisive whoosh akin to the sound of the Shinigami's blade cutting through one's soul. The adults in the room paled; Giyuu even more so because Tanjirou was a demon and demons were physically much stronger than humans, so if Tanjirou were to do that, the victim would truly die.

Giyuu couldn't help but wonder if Tanjirou had the chance to kick Kibutsuji Muzan's crotch during the incident. Hopefully, he did.

Thankfully, Tanjirou's demonstration managed to ease the inn owner's worry, somewhat. And so, they departed for Mount Sagiri.
