Clint reclined, looking out the window. "Laura invited everyone for lunch on Saturday. She says that since they know about the house, we should be more open to guests."

From where she stood, still perched in the doorway, Natasha replied, "What do you think?"

"I think that Fury didn't tell the team for a reason, but if this is what Laura wants then Saturday at noon it is."

"Will you bring Naomi?" Clint turned around, obviously having debated the question himself.

"I think it'll be good for her. The kids and Laura know a bit of sign, and it'll give her a change of scenery." Introducing even more new people to someone who has been recently traumatized- especially a kid- wasn't ideal, but Clint didn't know what else to do. The Avengers thrived in the chaotic environment they'd created. I guess she has to enter the team dynamic somehow.

As the Avengers arrived in the teal Volkswagen bus that Steve had insisted on getting because 'it's a family car for their makeshift family', two little voices cheered in unison, "Aunt Nat!" Their heads bobbed up and down as they weaved through Earth's Mightiest Heroes to reach their favorite superhero.

"Good afternoon agents," she whispered, "Did you complete your last mission?" The kids giggled and retrieved two wrinkled pieces of paper from behind their backs. As she smoothed the drawings on her lap, she saw crayon-drawn maps of their home and property complete with a stick family and broccoli trees. "Excellent work. I'll get these to SHIELD ASAP. Would you like your next assignment?"

They giggled again. "Yes Aunt Nat," Lila replied.

As Natasha showed a beautiful and reserved softness to Cooper and Lila, Naomi watched from the back of the crowd while attempting to judge the group's interactions.

Laura watched the rambunctious team from the doorway"Welcome N-A-O-M-I. My name is L-A-U-R-A. C-L-I-N-T is my husband."

"Nice to meet you. Your home is beautiful." Though there was farmland on the edges of Sokovia, Naomi had spent her whole life in the city. The green fields surrounding the cozy-looking house momentarily took her breath away.

"Thank you kind girl. Come in."

About half of the Avengers were packed into the small kitchen. As Naomi made her way to the wall to observe, Cooper ran up to her, stopping abruptly. "Play! Play!" he signed excitedly while grabbing her hand and dragging Naomi back to the front door. If she squinted her eyes a bit, she could almost fool herself into seeing her brother.

It took mere minutes for Naomi to give into the infectious joy and laughter that the kids radiated. In their made up game of tag mixed with playing pretend barely any signs were exchanged, but each of them was having the time of their life.

Escaping pointless and endless banter between the men occupying their house, Clint and Laura made their way to the porch to watch their crazies. In that moment, the five (Nathanial was being entertained by Natasha) of them felt almost like a normal family- or what they imagined normal to be like. "This feels pretty perfect, doesn't it," Clint exhaled.

"You mean the eight- is it still eight, I lost count- enhanced individuals currently in our home?"

"We could adopt her," Clint sputtered out.

She knew it was coming. Every phone call had revolved around Naomi, and what she had to say broke her heart. "You know we can't-"

"I'll be home more often. It'll be different now with things calmer. And there's new kids with freaky talents coming in all the time now; they don't need me."

"You're only lying to yourself, Clint. You don't know how to walk away, even if you wanted to. She seems like a great kid. No one is denying that." She placed a light hand on his upper arm. "Clint, I have never asked you to stay home, only to come back in one piece at the end of the day. I love it all, but you won't be what she needs you to be if she's staying here. I'll continue to help and care for her in any way I can, but you know that what you want isn't realistic right now. I hope we can figure it out at some point." Clint turned from Laura and resumed watching his kids.

"It just doesn't seem right that she doesn't get all this. I don't know how the compound can be a home to grow up in. I swear if you say 'the people make the ho-'"

With a light punch in his arm, Laura interrupted, "The people make the home, Clint. And you've got some pretty good people there. Patience."

Their quiet presence was interrupted with a heavy thud and yells from inside the house. "You're the one who bet I couldn't get a bullseye blindfolded and upside down!"

"That doesn't mean you have Thor dangle you upside down by your ankles like a baby!"

"What else was I- How do you carry babies?!"

"Try it while Thor spins next time!"

Laura only laughed. "I got it this time, enjoy the peace a little longer." With a kiss on the cheek, she went to calm the chaos.

After an eternity of high energy engagement with the kids, Naomi plopped down on the porch swing next to Clint, overlooking it all. The small details of the estate sparked her interest- the axe laying by a pile of wood, the rusty tractor peeking out from behind the barn doors, the balls and baseball mitts scattered under a tree in the distance. "Hey. Why do you go to the city and fight when you have all of this? It's a dream."

"Because, just like every other person here, I have the inability to turn away from a fight when someone is in danger. I know that not everyone has this to call home, so I shouldn't rest in it."

Cocking an eyebrow, she replied, "Now that's some quotable hero 'I am Iron Man' B.S."

Looking down, Clint chuckled. "It's true! I also know too much by now. I couldn't retire if I tried; and, I tried."

"Will you tell me their names again? I know R-H-O-D-Y and N-A-T-A-S-H-A and T-O-N-Y. Also, do they have name signs?" Constantly fingerspelling the many names was already getting old after only a few days for Naomi.

Though embarrassed by his willful oversight, he confessed, "I actually never gave them name signs since I always have my hearing aids in. That honor is yours."

"Really? I barely know them."

"You will." Clint continued, telling her the guys' names and bits of their personalities.

"Do you have a name sign?"

"No. Would you like to give me one?"

After only a moment of thought, Naomi signed SAVE/RESCUE with a "C" hand shape. "Clint."
