The sage paladin

Pressing her hands against her rosy cheeks, Ochaco couldn't help but feel distressed. However, who wouldn't be if they were stepping onto soil that bred the very hero's that stood atop the nation of Japan like gods. She slapped her face before taking another step through the gate of U.A, Japan's number 1 hero academy.

She and many other entrance examinees walked treacherously towards the main building, left daunted by its mere size alone.

'U.A…' She thought. 'Is huge…' But that was to be expected. 'Bah whatever! Let's keep focus! Yeah! C'mon Ochaco, remember why you're even here! Mom, dad… ill-'

Before she could think for another second longer, she winced as someone had begun to fall forwards just Infront of her. Without taking another second to react, she threw her hand forward and grazed the person's quick-falling foot in the air. A burst of pink erupted from her hands like she'd just set off a disco party in her palms.

'Phew… gotcha!' She smiled before pulling the person back to their feet. She then clasped her fingertips together, realizing another beam of light from them.

"Hey, you alright?" Ochaco said as she observed the person more. The more she did, the more she felt confused. He was a guy who had fluffy green hair, a complexion as pale as the moon and eyes so dejected, you'd almost think he was looking through you.

"Y-yeah!" He finally spoke, though his voice trembled.

Ochaco stifled for a moment before shaking off the odd feeling that had crept behind her ear.

"That's good to hear! But be more careful next time, after all, my parents always told me it's a bad omen to fall right before a big test!" She chirped before twirling her body back to the direction of the building. "Well, it was nice meeting you! Goodluck on the exam!"

And with that, she was off.

The inside of U.A's auditorium was nothing to scoff at. Ochaco and her family weren't exactly the wealthiest bunch growing up, so housing was an issue. She'd grown up managing tiny unkempt spaces for so long that it had become the norm for her. She hadn't been in the wealthiest schools either before, so having an auditorium that could fit hundreds upon hundreds of people all at once with ease was alien to her. She almost felt out of place, undeserving of something like this.

Soon enough, after every examinee had settled into their assigned seats, the whole room dimmed, right before a light was shown onto the stage at the front of the ever-expansive auditorium.

Pro hero present mic made his appearance, and as loud as ever he was. He spared no ear drums as his awful attempts at riling the petrified examinees up failed. Quickly regaining his composure, the stiff haired hero began to quickly explain the practical that would soon determine each student within that room's possibility of getting accepted into U.A.

It wasn't anything the students didn't know, after all it was on the pamphlet. Plus, for a school with a 0.2% acceptance rate like U.A, you'd need all the info you could get to even have a chance.

After a few more minutes of explanation, another examinee took a stand from his seat after getting his question noticed by present mic and asked something about a "zero pointer" before being quickly told to slow down by present mic.

"At the very least," The square faced examinee continued, sharply turning his head to a student. "You! Yes, you with the green hair! You've been muttering to yourself this entire time! Its distracting! Have you no shame for yourself? In such a prestigious academy if you think U.A is a place to chit-chat during such important explanations then you may as well just leave now!"

Ochaco found herself anxious for the boy from earlier. He seemed like quite a timid and shy guy, so something like this certainly wasn't going to do him any favors with his psyche right before the exam.

"You wanna fucking go?!"

Ochaco blinked.

"You piece of shit!"

She smacked her ears to make sure she'd just heard him correctly.

The entire auditorium turned to stare and look at the pale small framed boy taking an aggressive stand atop one of the chairs towards the square faced examinee.

Ochaco's mouth was agape as present mic and couple other heroes on standby quickly diffused the situation. Well, after the green haired boy had begun throwing insult after insult, the square faced examinee had almost instantly back down from the entire confrontation.

Minutes later, the boy after a quick chat with one of the teachers suddenly reverted into the shy timid kid she'd seen before, covering his face and bowing frantically as he sunk back to his seat.

It was nothing short of odd.

Soon enough, after regaining composure, present mic would soon end off the last bits of the speech.

"Break a leg out there, everyone!" Mic yelled. "And remember… Plus Ultra!"

Katsuki took a quick look at his competition before concluding that he was about to steamroll everyone on site.

"Psh, bunch of extras." He snickered. "This'll be a piece of cake, though…"

He looked around one more time just to make sure.

'I guess it would be kind of fun if he was here to compete with…' He thought silently. 'Guess that just means you'll get to show off without too much pressure, huh?"

"That guy…"

"He's a bit of a creep ain't he?"

"You think he's loose a few screws up there? I mean at least he doesn't look like much. Guess he's all bark."

"One less person to deal with at least."

Green hair had become talk of the town after his recent incident. Soon after the auditorium, split and shipped off to their practical zone's, everyone had become sizing him up, talking about his outburst.

Ochaco decided to tune them out. She needed to focus after all. Maybe she'd go ahead and see if he was doing just fine afterwards if his personality didn't do a complete 180 again.

She turned to look over at him… having an argument… with himself?

Everyone paused and looked over in disbelief as the green haired boy threatened to punch himself in the face.

This guy had to be insane, was everyone's thought.

Green hair then stopped, took a deep breath in and closed his eyes before opening them and exhaling seconds later. He looked onward at the giant metal gate closing off the faux city their block would soon enter.

'Huh? Its like his demeanor changed again?' Ochaco could have sworn. Before she could even harp on the thought for a little while longer, present mic mad his presence known once again by rupturing a couple hundred more eardrums from one of the megaphones above the metal doors.

"STAAAAAAAAAAAAART!"

It took everyone by surprise, but that shock wouldn't stop just yet as blur of white and green would leap out from the group, rushing down the faux street in seconds.

"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?" Present mic yelled again.

Ochaco and the other examinees shook free from their shock, staggering forward as they tried to catch up to the hooded examinee that was racking up dozens of points by the minute.

'Who is that guy?! Whatever I can't let him hog up all the point! C'mon Ochaco, you got this!'

"Kids are getting tougher and tougher by the year. Did you see what examinee 0442 did to that cluster of 2 pointers? Impressive!"

"Cmon now, Midnight, that's nothing compared to what 0211 managed back there? She's got potential!"

"Now now," Principal nezu began, gesturing to the other heroes to settle down in the room. "This is no time to pick favorites just yet!" His ears squirmed excitedly. "That means you too, Yagi."

"Hm? Favorites?" Yagi winced for a moment, brushing himself up in a moment of weakness, without ever taking his eyes of the screen. "Of course not!"

Nezu's smile widened before looking back at the a huge red button right before him.

"In any case," Nezu clicked the button and looked back at the many screens focused on numerous examinees. "Let's see how they handle this!"

Ochaco wanted to die in that moment.

The more she ran around using her quirk to decimate more and more robots, the dizzier and sicker she got. It had gotten so bad that running anywhere without clutching her stomach wasn't a smart idea if she didn't want to see puke at her feet.

Suddenly, the ever-spinning world around her began to shake and rumble. She snapped out of her dizziness for a moment as she noticed everyone running away from her in a panicked frenzy.

Screams and yells for help could be heard all throughout the block.

The reason? Much to Ochaco's dismay, was the gigantic mega ton robot steamrolling its way through faux city, ploughing anything in its site with ease.

"Crap." She grumbled underneath her breath. However, before she could do anything else she could hear a group of people yelling for help, stuck underneath rubble and debris. She looked at the group and then back at the robot, frozen in place.

'Why can't I move? C'mon Ochaco… move your stupid legs already!' She could only stare mortified. 'Come on!'

Just as they were about to get run over, a guy in a white and green costume landed from out of nowhere, hauling the debris off the other examinees.

"T-Thank you!"

"No problem!" The cloaked guy finally spoke, helping the rest of the examinees to their feet, though they seemed wary at first. It wasn't until he finally turned around that Ochaco understood why. Though his face was veiled beneath a sea of darkness under his cloak, he had eyes that ate right through it, a gaze that could pierce right through your soul.

Oddly enough, it felt familiar.

The other examinees ran away, all whilst Ochaco stayed for a moment longer, observing as the cloaked man glanced at the giant robot and then closed his eyes.

"Punching it won't solve anything!" The cloaked man shouted at the top of his lungs, startling Ochaco slightly back. "You don't know that! —Guys please stop… trust me, I know how to beat this thing!"

'He's talking to himself…' Ochaco almost crumbled to the floor right then and there. The robot was nearing. 'Should I say something?'

She opened her mouth.

Her eyes widened as the cloaked man's outfit melted and meshed in on itself, forming… a suit?

"Ah, still hard to get used to this…" The man said muttered. He looked up and quickly scoured the area before his glowing eyes finally landed on Ochaco.

Without his cloak, his face was hidden behind a white and green mask that covered his entire head. So, you couldn't blame Ochaco when she stepped back at the mere sight of him.

"Oh!" The man squeeked before quickly popping the mask off his head. "Sorry if I made you uncomfortable!"

Ochaco's mouth went agape. This was the very same boy she'd saved earlier, the very same boy who'd threatened to shove another examinee into a casket in the auditorium, the very same boy who'd just saved a dozen people without skipping a single beat.

"Uh, well, I know this is out of the blue…" The boy began. "You… have a gravity quirk, right? Well… mind if you help me out real quick?"

"Help you out?" Ochaco repeated. "With what?"

"W-well… The boy spoke hoarsely, rubbing his hair as he spoke. "Beating the 0 pointer."

Ochaco's stared blankly at the pale boy.

'Just who is this guy?'

Back in the observation room, there was more chatter regarding each individual block's performance, but one stood out the most to a few pro heroes.

Yagi toshinori watched earnestly as a green haired kid soared into the sky like a fighter jet, barely dodging the 0 pointers hefty swings and landing atop its head with shaky composure.

"What's he doing up there?" One pro inquired. "You'd think he'd whittle it down at its legs or something, y'know? Try and topple it over or something. He can't do anything up there!"

Even still, the pros watched on intensly.

The boy took off his coat and rolled his sleeves up, right before he shoved his hands through the robot's head like it was made of paper. Moments later, his hand would be pulled out with a plethora of different wires and bolts. Still, that did hardly anything to stop the robot's movement, as was expected.

He pulled a baton from nowhere, wrapped the wires around the baton and dug his hands into the robots head once more, repeating the same steps with another baton he'd just pulled from his left pocket. With a bit of uncertainty, the boy would then place the two batons together and in an instant, sparks flew, the rumbling halted, the robot was tipping over.

Without taking another moment to think, the boy jumped off the robot as it was falling, flailing around in the air like a fish out of water. However, just before he landed onto the ground, he was slapped by another examinee, halting his motion instantaneously, allowing him a safe landing.

The boy collapsed not long after as his costume faded into nothing, all whilst the 0 pointer fell to its back, sending off multiple explosions upon impact.

It was then that the final announcement for the practical was made.

It had finally ended across all blocks.

The room was silent, yet there was one thing that each pro hero there was unanimously thinking.

This year had the most potential they'd ever seen. That much was certain.

For the first time in a while, Yagi felt that oh so treacherous ache in his heart he'd grown accustomed to.

'If I had waited… just one more year…' He thought.

"Whats that boy's name? The one with the green hair." A pro asked.

"Izuku," Nezu answered quickly with a sadistic smile. "His name is Izuku Midoriya."

And so, with that, Izuku's heroic journey would soon begin.
