A/N I don't own Gilmore Girls or any of the characters, that honor is reserved by ASP.

I love a good Rogan story and think that the way that their relationship ended in the original storyline was rubbish. I also think that some of the relationships that Rory has especially the one with her mother are extremely toxic, and there are several plot points that never got addressed in either the original show or the revival. this is what I think should have happened instead. It's pretty much just wish fulfillment on my part! enjoy!

Chapter 1

She awoke with a start. 'Wow that dream was weird' was her first thought, closely followed by a realization she was in her college bedroom, in the apartment that she shared with Paris. It felt like a second ago she was sitting on the gazebo steps, telling her mother 'I'm Pregnant' at thirty-two years old with her life in a mess. She looked at her alarm clock, it was 10:30 in the morning, a glance at her calendar, it was the 9th of May, 2007. She picked up her flip cell phone and hit number 1 and the call button.

Three rings later he answered 'hey ace' she breathed out 'to what do I owe the pleasure of such an early phone call?'

Rory took a deep breath 'I had a really awful dream and I just needed to talk to you, plus it's like 7:30 where you are so it's not that early.'

'Tell me about the dream baby' and she spilled everything, from the death of her grandfather to the fear of failing in her chosen career of journalism and how she felt about it but mostly the fear that he would walk away from her just like in the dream. He let her rattle on for about twenty minutes listening carefully and making mental notes about what he needed to comment upon when she finished. When she finished speaking he just listened to her breathing heavily, that was the marker that she was finished.

'Ok I'm gonna break it down into worries ok' she assented. 'First, off baby I love you, and I need you to remember that' again she agreed 'my next question Ace is why do you want to be a journalist? What's your why? Do you want to be Christianne Amampor because you want to go to war-torn countries and write about them or because your mother wants you to, because baby, I mean this in the best possible way, you are the most talented writer I have ever met and I cannot see you in a foxhole somewhere sleeping on the ground, you are too much of a homebody for that. That being said, I can see you as an author- you have a book in you sweetie, but I can also see you teaching English Lit, your love of books is awesome, I can even see you doing features freelance but for magazines both online and print, longer pieces rich in the research you are so incredibly good at. Can you understand that? I will support you no matter what you want but can you tell me one hundred percent what your why is?'

She was stumped, and he knew it. 'Ok whilst I have given you a lot of stuff to think about I need to ask you something completely hypothetical- I have a meeting this afternoon, if they give me an offer would you be willing to move across the country with me?' That was when Rory knew she needed to answer, was her life up in the air- yes, could she survive without Logan, probably but she wouldn't be one hundred percent happy the way that she was when she had him in her life without him, her funky weird and incredibly long dream had shown her that. 'Yes, I would Logan. Do I need to be considering moving there?'

There was breathing on the other end of the line 'yes, I think we could be really happy here Ace, a completely fresh start. You want to go work on a paper there are so many great ones, you want to get your master's in English Lit. Stamford has a great program. You want to write your book and freelance go for it. I'm all in on this Rory, and I promise you if you come here, I'll never walk away. You're my home.'

'You're my home too Logan and the one thing I can't lose is you' she then broke down into the tears that had been threatening for about an hour on the phone to the love of her life. On the other side of the country, Logan was breathing heavily the royal blue velvet box on his nightstand making more sense by the second 'I love you so much Rory' was all he could say. 'I should be back in like two days max. This should be the last meeting ok' it was a half-truth but she didn't need to know that he was looking at houses that were for them potentially.

Rory interrupted his train of thought with the question 'are you gonna look at houses too whilst you're there? Cause that would make sense if they give you an offer' he chortled a laugh 'are you a mind reader Ace? Because I was literally just thinking that you probably didn't need to know about me looking for houses for us it may be a stretch too far this morning' Rory laughed at that 'if I'm gonna be living there I want a say babe, and Logan just out of left field and I want you to know no pressure but if that gentlemanly side of your brain is engaged on asking anyone's permission for anything the person that you need to ask is my Grandfather' she hoped he wouldn't freak but too many things were making her dream feel real including the feeling that he would propose when he returned from California.

'How did you know...never mind message received' she smirked at his answer. Logan on the other hand thought she was a freaking mind reader all of a sudden but he had to admit asking Richard Gilmore for permission to marry Rory made a lot more sense than asking Lorelai, also was a lot less nerve-racking- at least he knew that Richard would approve. His thought process was once again interrupted with Rory's comment of 'and were you to propose...make it personal...and private. I know you love the grand gesture but if you were to ask me in front of a crowd that would make me freak i think and I never want to give a reason to think that I'm not as all in as you are Logan. I love you and as long as I have you, I could face anything.'

'I feel the same way Rory' he paused; she had systematically gone through most of his plans decimating them but had also told him in the same breath how she wanted things so that he wouldn't screw up and freak out himself with her reaction. He glanced at the clock and realized the time of 8:45 'I've got to get going baby. I have meetings and then the realtor later, if I find anything I really think you'll like I'll email you ok. I know we've covered a lot this morning Ace if you feel overwhelmed just call ok and I'll call you back as soon as I can. I love you so much.'

Rory sighed 'I love you too Logan and you're right I've got a lot to think about. Call me tonight?' Logan agreed and they hung up. Rory looked through her planner to tell her what she needed to remember to do for her day's studying and began her pro-con lists for her life with Logan. She ignored the three texts from her mother, her opinion wasn't needed on this it was her life and she was going to live it for her, not for her mother.
