Chapter 181 Genesect Interruption Part 3
Ash and Yancy continue to solve the puzzle and they eventually get to Hardy, with the last two Genesect in the way.
Hardy: Mate, am I glad to see you! I've just barely been keeping distance from these two while I've been trapped in here. Whaddya say we give 'em the duo act?
Yancy: Sure.
Then the two Anomalies send out Blastoise, Lanturn, Politoed, Forretress, Empoleon, Rotom Wash Form, Seismitoad, Escavalier, Greninja, Suicune, and two Genesect with Douse Drives. And they are also defeated in the end.
Hardy: And that's the show! Looks like the audience left us a parting gift. I get the feeling you'll know what to do with it. (Gives Ash the Douse Drive) I'm gonna go find Aya! God knows this was the last thing she needed after everything. I'll keep her safe, don't worry!
Ash: Don't worry, she manages to defeat a bunch of those Genesects on her own.
Hardy: Wait, whaddya mean she's fine? She took out a bunch of those things? That's my girl! Still, I'mma find her! Peace!
Then they quickly find Aya, and Hardy is worried about her.
Hardy: Hey, are you really all right?
Aya: All right? I just had the world's shittiest rehearsal interrupted by my abusive stepdad, ran out, found him and everyone else spirited into dust, followed them to find a secret dark factory overlapping onto the real world full of aggressive mutant cyborg bugs, which I then had to fight by the dozen, and proceeded to burn them all to a crisp. I am NOT "all right". I'm fucking great. And you are lucky that I was here to save you!
Hardy: I- Yeah, I- ...Rock on, girl.
Ash and Yancy continue to move forward, and they decide to insert the Douse Drive.
Ash: What the...the sprinklers are activating!
Yancy: Now we're getting wet!
Then they quickly rush to the end of the hall, where a Genesect is in the making, so Ash uses the chance to throw a Poke Ball and captures it.
Ash's New Capture in Neo Blackstream Fabrication: Genesect (Event)
Ash: Now we got what we need, let's get out of here.
Yancy: Yeah.
After getting outside, they find the others already having another argument.
Arc: Okay, with you all out, I think everyone is all safe and accounted for.
Cain: We did a last comb through the place to check too- seems like all the civilians are right as the sprinkler-set rain.
Cain's Mother: Aya, we were SO worried about you! In a place like that- a girl like you- Even I was scared!
Cain's Stepfather: I coulda taken them. But I'm told you handled it all by yourself. Not bad, for a girl.
Cain's Mother: And you made it unscathed! That's our little Gym Leader rockstar!
Aya: Okay, mom, seriously-
Cain's Mother: And you managed to defend your delinquent friends. A noble heart indeed!
Aya: SERIOUSLY. Can you stop talking and listen to me for once? Maybe now of all times, while you're heaping praise on me? Instead of rattling on about how proud you are of me, would you actually stop for a second and listen to what I have to say?
Cain's Mother: Of- of course, dear...
Aya: Because you have that problem a lot. You're always going on about being a good mother, but when it comes time to listen and offer genuine support, you're clueless. Case in point, you have an entire other child you're STILL neglecting. You don't have to see eye to eye with his decisions, but you do have to shut up about it and be there for him. At LEAST enough so that he doesn't feel safer on the literal streets rather than being around you.
Cain's Mother: I'm- sorry, I'm just... not terribly comfortable with the whole 'gay' thing...
Cain: I'm not even gay. For some reason, everyone thinks I am, but girls or guys or whatever- I've got a lot of mixed feelings about it all still, but I don't see why anyone should like just one category of people.
Aya: You haven't even taken the time to understand that much about your own child. I'm still mad at you, by the way.
Cain: That's fine. I'd probably be mad at me too in your position.
Cain's Mother: Well, I...
Aya: No, just don't. You don't need to argue; don't defend yourself. Just think about it, maybe?
Cain's Stepfather: You can't tell her not to defend herself. You're not the parent here. You may've saved the day, allegedly, but that doesn't give you the right to talk to her like that.
Aya: You're right; it doesn't give me that right. I always had it. I'm only just now using it because I just fought like fifty armored Legendaries and my entire bloodstream has been replaced by adrenaline. And frankly, they're a lot scarier than you'll ever be, so let's double down. Everything you say is rude and awful and I hate you. At your best you're chauvinistic and at your worst you're abusive- not just to me, but Mom too.
Cain's Mother: H-honey, that's just-
Aya: No, don't make excuses for him. He needs to take accountability for his behavior, or he needs to go. Maybe both.
Cain's Stepfather: You NEED to learn some goddamn respect. I'll make you regret ever speaking to me like-
Titania: (Takes out Aegislash and points at Tez) I don't think so.
Cain's Stepfather: What the hell is your problem? Don't do anything you'll regret now...
Titania: I'm not the one who will regret it. Apparently, you already forgot our little chat earlier, so this is a reminder. Anything you do to her, you'll get tenfold from me.
Hardy: Make that double on my count too.
Cain's Stepfather: Tch... You can't really expect to get away with threats like this.
Arc: Funny you say that. Every other thing I've heard you say has been half a threat. If you don't like the music, best you change your tune.
Cain's Stepfather: The authorities are gonna hear about this...
Cain: You're still doing it.
Titania: Threats are the only way some men know how to communicate. Running to their betters is just the last resort form of it.
Arc: You do know that all of us work in tandem with the police and city authorities, right? Don't suppose you picked up on that among the whole escorting civilians out of here thing?
Aya: That's enough. Mom, get him out of here. Take him or whatever. Consider finding another set of divorce papers on your way.
Cain's Mother: I... Let's... Let's just go, dear.
Cain's Stepfather: Hmph.
After that's done, Cain's parents are now leaving the area.
Hardy: Yo, that was... intense.
Aya: Thanks for the backup. Frankly I'm glad I had it there rather than with the Genesect. They may be scarier than him, but they're not waiting for me at home... I hope.
Cain: Making it day by day with the help of your friends isn't so bad~
Aya: I bet. Starting to think you had the right idea.
Hardy: I guess I really don't gotta look out for you so much anymore, huh.
Aya: Only thanks to your help in the first place. (Turns to Titania) Yours as well, Titania. Even if you can be a bit harsh... It helped. Thanks.
Titania: Glad to hear it. You did well.
Aya: (Turns to Arclight) You're cool too.
Arc: Word.
Aya: And thanks, Ash, for being the one actually there for it all. Well, should we get back to rehearsal?
Titania: Are you sure you're even up to that after everything?
Aya: Psh. After all that? Sure. I can get up in front of a crowd and fuck a few notes up. Whatever, not like they're gonna ruin my home life or bring in the nightmare factory.
Cain: That's the... spirit? I think?
Arc: Think it might be best to rain check this one. I'm beat. Can't imagine you're not either.
Hardy: We can pick it up again later. You and I can get an extra practice sesh in before then. And next time, we'll tear it up even better!
Aya: Works for me.
Arc: All right, then that's a one, two, and break. We'll see you all next time!
Then they all head back to the Night Club as it is been a day. But just as Ash and Yancy are heading back, the portal appears once more.
Lin: Hey, why don't you come to step into my office for a sec?
Ash: You again, Lin?
Yancy: Should we get inside?
Ash: Don't worry, if something happens, I'll protect you.
As they enter the portal, they are back in the New World.
Lin: You see the problem, right? Like sure, this worked out and that girl stood up for herself with the power of friendship or whatever vomit-inducing anime cliché you wanna chalk that up to, but like, every other adult is Like That. They just yell and bark orders and make kids into their own personal dumping ground for their control issues or whatever. All because they feel some god-given sense of entitlement or superiority by supposed merit of being The Adult (tm) isn't it better to get rid of that entirely? That's all I've ever been doing. So isn't it unfair for everyone to come after ME as if I'VE been doing something wrong? If anything, they should be helping me. Starting with you! Swap on over to my team. I'll even let you play with baby arceus~
Ash: Do you think that's going to work on me? Think again. So what are you bringing us here?
Lin: ...anyway, I just wanted to chat. You can go if you really want. I guess. Here, I'll even give you a free ride.
Then Ash and Yancy are now back at the Night Club, much to their surprise.
Yancy: I guess this is it?
Ash: Maybe.
Then they get inside the Night Club and find the others there.
Aya: That whole rehearsal was way too much for one afternoon. But I'm glad. Tez got put in his stupid place, and I'm pretty sure if I can deal with the entire Genesect Legion, I can deal with a perpetually-buzzed ball of cholesterol and rage. Still have no plans on being home more than necessary, but if I have to be... I'll be fine.
Hardy: So, firstly: Thanks for helping Aya out with all that Genesect business. Glad the girl's got more on backups than just me. Second: She really burn a whole battalion to a crisp? Mate, like... I donno, that's pretty wicked, innit? I'm thinkin' of writing a new song based on it. "Melting My Heart Like An Invader Army" ...Aite, the title needs some workshopping. But the chords, mate. It's all about the chords.
Cain: Looks like I gotta add dealing with our messed up family to the loooooong list of things I owe you for, huh? Thanks for looking out for Aya. I wish I coulda done that better myself, but... Uh, well, in my defense, I am still the younger sibling. I don't act like it, I know~ But my youthful complexion and dulcet tones do not lie to you~ I am still young~ Still fertile~ I mean- what, who said that? But you know, it's nice to actually have a crew to sing with too. You'll still come to all of our shows even if they keep getting invaded, right? You can invade our shows any time, Ash~
Ash: Seriously...
Arc: Man, when I offered to help out with the band, I wasn't expecting that to happen... Even without the New World stuff, it's been a bit more than I expected, honestly. They're all working really hard, but between you and me, not one of those kids knows anything about mixing. It's been a lot. I don't mind helping out, but... between running this place, organizing the Anomaly hunts, and the band, I feel like I'm in a bit over my head. Maybe I'll see about trying to teach Hardy the basics. He seems like a quick learner when it comes to music, and maybe if he picks up a few things I can stay more in the background. Still be there to help out and all, but not have quite so much to do. Ah... Sorry, Ash, I guess I was thinking out loud. I'll talk to Hardy about it, don't worry. You just focus on relaxing for a bit. Arce- Uh. Everyone knows you deserve it.
Titania: I know a lot of people won't believe me, but I don't exactly relish turning my blade on people. I don't love violence. It's just the only thing that some people listen to. It's the only thing some people can listen to anymore. In the case of Aya's stepfather, I'm sure a threat will suffice. But that's its own kind of tragedy too. I'm so beyond tired of conflict. And there's nothing to do but build a little bridge...
Ash: Right...
Then they decide to head back home for resting once more.
And here is the end of the Genesect quest. I hope you like it, and the Tier Six Legendary is going to be done after the next chapter.
