A/N So, this is the next chapter. Sorry, it took so long to get up. It's short but sweet- enjoy!

Chapter 5

The week had progressed fairly well. There was minimal contact with both families as Rory focussed on her last final. Logan was staying at her apartment for the week and they had started to look for apartments in New York. He had a meeting with her father and Chris had essentially promised him that the HPG shares that Hayden Enterprises owned could be used to back Mitchum into a corner if he wanted to. By the next Friday night- the night of the Hayden Party Logan was actually looking forward to it.

After her last final, Rory had started looking at the options she had to do her Master's. Yale was an obvious choice she expected when her final grades came in that she would be graduating with honors but she looked into Columbia and Cornell in New York too. Logan came into their room whilst she was looking on her computer as she clicked through the online prospectus. 'What about looking at Princeton Ace? Isn't that where Haydens go to school?' Rory nodded 'I'll look into it. Maybe if I do choose there I can just start in the Fall if not I'll try for January admission. Princeton would make everyone happy though, my Dad in particular.' She closed her laptop, leaning up and kissing him 'though I do love the idea of starting an idea I had' Logan pulled her up out of her chair and towards the bed, her body flush to his 'and what idea would that be Miss Gilmore-Hayden? Cause I like the idea of far fewer clothes and stress relief before the shit show that your grandmother has orchestrated for this evening. My mother actually called earlier and told me that I had missed out on the Hayden Heiress, that she was engaged and that Francine was holding a close friend and family dinner party to celebrate, and that I should have been the man on this girls arm that she wasn't a gold digger like the no-good girl that I'd saddled myself with' Rory laughed as he kissed the top of her head and then started removing her clothes. 'What's the bet that your father has a heart attack tonight when he realizes who he pissed off?' Logan kissed her neck 'no bet' as he nipped at her decolletage 'hey no hickeys Logan my dress is not a nun's habit' he growled and they lost themselves in each other until it was time to get ready for the party.

They showed up at the Hayden house twenty minutes before the guests were due, Rory wearing her engagement ring and a gorgeous sapphire teardrop pendant, Finn, Colin and Stephanie had bought her as a graduation and engagement present. Steph's comment of 'it can be your something blue on your big day' had made Rory cry. The boys had bought Logan an engraved flask and a pen 'for signing his life away' which had made the pair laugh. Rory was wearing a beautiful, Audrey Hepburn-inspired dress in tiffany blue. It was knee-length with a sweetheart neckline and capped sleeves. Her navy blue clutch matched her satin pumps and necklace. Logan was wearing a navy suit with a crisp white shirt and tiffany blue tie and pocket square. They looked like the perfect society couple and Francine cooed when she saw them in her foyer. 'Oh, you look so amazing you two. Why don't you go upstairs and relax with Chris and Gigi? I'll come to get you when it's time.' the couple nodded and headed up the stairs looking for Chris and Gigi. Gigi was dressed in a beautiful navy dress with flowers printed on it and a crossed back. When she ran up to Rory, Chris was shocked to see the image that was presented to him. Gigi could be Logan and Rory's daughter just by looks and all dressed up in similar outfits they looked like a family. Ironically what Chris and Lorelai would have looked like at a similar age with Rory, Gigi's hair was a similar shade to what Rory's had been at that age. 'You look amazing kiddo' was all that Chris managed as he smiled 'like the matchy-matchy look' the three of them laughed. 'This is our pre-engagement party' Rory smiled as she settled on the settee in the upstairs tv room. Gigi jumped up to her lap and Logan perched on the edge. They talked to Gigi about her school work (drawing and coloring and how much she loved recess) and soon enough Francine was stood in the doorway beckoning them downstairs to the party.

Shira had practically jumped up and down when Francine had called her telling her that her eldest Granddaughter was done with college and she was throwing a small get-together to introduce her more to the Hartford set. Maybe if she could get this girl introduced to Logan he would ditch the horrid Gilmore Girl. This was made clear when they entered the Hayden home where she and Mitchum were greeted by Francine who was gushing about her granddaughter's plans to be a journalist, Mitchum had jumped in with a simple 'I'd be glad to look at her work- maybe offer her an internship or maybe just the right introductions' Francine had smiled at the offer and Shira had blushed when she mentioned Logan's engagement. It seemed to be a few families that were there, the DuGrey's, Gellars, McRaes, and Vanderbilt's. The Morgan's also joined the party. What was telling was that the older children were there too. Honor's arrival was greeted happily by the group. Fifteen minutes after arriving Christopher Hayden entered the room with his adorable little girl, not five minutes later Rory and Logan were in amongst the Party and Francine was tapping the side of her champagne flute for attention. The way that Chris had a hand around Rory's waist was missed by Shira but as the only engaged couple in attendance, it wasn't missed by Mitchum. This was going to be interesting.

A/N. So I know I'm a horrible person for leaving it on a cliffhanger but again this is a setup chapter for the DRAMA of the next one. If anyone can see where I'm going with a few breadcrumbs PLEASE comment on them- It'll be fun to see how right/wrong you are when I get to posting the next chapter….
