A/N Ok I know what I said about this chapter being the engagement party chapter, but I wanted to establish Rory and Logan's life in New York first, plus I got this idea in my head and wanted to get it out- sorry to tease you….
Chapter 11
It had been a week since she had called out her mother in front of the town. Lane had told her that Lorelai had practically become a recluse. Luke had requested that Zach request that she be removed from the diner. Rory almost felt sorry for her but she had kept busy enough to ignore what was going on in Stars Hollow. Logan was set up to start work at the New York office of HPG in two weeks, and she was apartment shopping with Logan at the same time as debating between the three internships that her families were offering her. Her grandparents, Mitchum, Elias, and her Dad had all offered to fund her and Logan's apartment in New York under the assumption they looked for their dream home. It would be the wedding present from the families. Her Dad in particular was wanting her to lean towards the internship in PR at HE. It would work with her skill set as a journalist whilst also allowing her to write. She and Logan were living in the Pool House, her grandparents having apparently gotten over the idea of their precious granddaughter having sex with her fiance.
She was walking into a gorgeous building just off 5th avenue, where she was meeting Logan and their real estate agent to look at an apartment that was for sale. She was greeted by the doorman and saw Logan in the seating area with Marco, their agent. 'Hey, Ace. You made it' Rory laughed and kissed him. 'I'm not late babe. Hello Marco. Fifteenth the charm right?' the man laughed. 'Ms. Gilmore, I think you'll like this one. Let's go up to the Penthouse shall we.' Rory smiled 'oohh Penthouse fancy' Logan smirked and grabbed her hand as they entered the elevator.
'So this is a fully serviced building, you get a 24/7 doorman, maid, and laundry service with a concierge. In the building itself, there is a full gym which I'll take you to later, there is an underground garage, this penthouse has two spaces that come with it and there is a town car service that you can use as well that is included in your monthly dues. All that is $5000 per month.' Rory nodded ok it was up there in price but looking at what you could pay independently of the building it was nothing. You could almost see it as a rental payment. A very cheap rental payment. 'Ok, so this is the Penthouse.'
The doors opened into a gorgeous foyer. The ceiling was at least ten feet high and was accented with crown moldings. There were wooden parquet floors that seemed to flow into each room. There was a gorgeous grand staircase that twisted up to the second floor that was adjacent to the elevator. In the center of the foyer was a large chandelier that hung over a marble table. Marco led them into the living room that had french doors to a wrap-around balcony, with a view that oversaw Central Park. The room was full of natural light that was accentuated by the white walls. It was clearly an entertaining space as it led to the dining room which held a table that could obviously seat up to twenty. The room was lit by more floor-to-ceiling windows and french doors. On the opposite side of the living room was a library that had Rory's eyes lighting up, even more, a study, and adjacent to that, was a kid's playroom with a TV on the wall and a large blackboard close to the floor. The rooms were all connected but there were glass and steel cased barn doors that allowed you to see between them. Rory looked at Logan when he saw the playroom sandwiched between the study and library there was a smile on his face when he saw it too.
The kitchen was a cook's dream, marble countertops, a five-ring stove with eye-level ovens. Again it was designed for entertaining, the island in the middle had stools on one side with a full wine and champagne fridge underneath. The pantry was huge too and there was a full-sized fridge in the kitchen too. Behind the kitchen was a loading, freight elevator too. There was also a hallway that led to the dining room for ease of service when entertaining.
Logan and Rory hadn't stopped smiling since entering the apartment. It was gorgeous. The windows gave the natural light they wanted and there was everything that was on their hit list. The space was move-in ready too, and they hadn't even seen half of it. Marco smirked at the smiles on the young couple's faces, they were going to love the upstairs. He guided them to the staircase 'so that was the living space downstairs, now you've got two more floors plus the roof terrace, and a total of five bedrooms plus the master suite. This floor holds the master suite and two bedrooms.' Rory nodded as she looked into what was the foyer to the second floor. Turning to her left she walked into a sitting room that was again light and bright that led through to the master bedroom. It was huge and had great views of Central Park again plus a Juliet balcony overhanging the below wrap-around terrace. Behind the wall with the bed were two doors; one led to a walk-in wardrobe come dressing room and the other to the master ensuite which featured a beautiful copper clawfoot soaking bath in the center of the room. The room was fully tiled in marble with copper fixtures. There was a walk-in shower on one side of the room and a double floating vanity on the opposite with a mirrored medicine cabinet above it. The toilet was in a separate room. Again there was lots of natural light with the windows facing central park again.
Rory was in love and Logan was smirking as she looked at the space. They walked over to the opposite side of the second-floor foyer where there were two rooms that were obviously kids rooms. There were still the high ceilings and one of the rooms had a clever loft bed, where safely surrounded by railings the design allowed a double bed with steps leading up to it with drawers in the steps. Under the loft bed was a desk with a computer and what looked like a full-height wardrobe that pulled out to show the clothes. Opposite the bed was a high-end futon couch. It was exceedingly clever and obviously a teen's room. There was a jack and jill bathroom, with an in-bath shower and double vanity, that led to the next room was a little girl's room featuring a full double bed again but with a canopy design that had Logan's heart-melting. It was Rory's turn to smirk. The room had a walk-in wardrobe again like the master but was a lot smaller.
Marco then led them up the stairs again to the guest floor where instead of a foyer table there was a seating area that greeted them. The elevator evidently opened up to this level too. The rooms were all gorgeously appointed with their own ensuite bathrooms, but then the three of them entered the elevator and went up to the roof terrace that came with the apartment. It was huge. There was plenty of room for entertaining and featured a huge wet bar that was sheltered from the wind and rain, a huge wood-burning fireplace, and a hot tub. Rory looked at Logan and he looked at her. 'I love this place, Logan. It's totally us. It has everything we want plus more…' Logan nodded. 'It's a dream place Ace. Shall we call the parentals and get an offer in?' Rory nodded as she threw her arms around Logan's neck and kissed him full on the mouth. Marco smirked. He loved it when he made a sale, especially to such a nice young couple just starting their lives together.
A/N So they have their dream apartment. Tell me what you think about this place- as far as parents buying it for them it seems like the kind of thing that Emily and Richard would do- think of the house that Emily was planning on buying for Lorelai and Luke in 'Driving Miss Gilmore' 6:20. I just added Mitchum, Elias and Christopher to it because I wanted to play with a much bigger budget- it is New York of course.
