A/N: I'm thanking my friend Seyary for motivating me to expand this AU=))

The school was huge. Especially for a seven-year-old, who travelled a long way, leaving his home behind. A "town" consisted of snow and igloos, along with a freezing cold temperature in his home.

After the mutual agreement of the southern water tribe and the fire nation to work together, which has been a big deal, Hakoda made a decision: He thought it's best for his children to visit a school in the fire nation. Ozai approved said decision, since their schools were the best. The tribe's chief's children should get their education, while he would work on the development of his tribe with his men.

So here was Sokka, standing at the entrance of the school after bidding farewell to his father. He was insecure. The children were different from the one's in his tribe. Here the children were more self-confident, naturally since it's their homeland. Katara on the other hand was happy and already walked to her classroom. Sokka would make sure his sister would be okay and receives no harm in any kind of way.

"Be nice to everyone my daughter. But if anyone dares to be disrespectful towards you, do not let them. You are my child Azula, the Princess of this nation."

Ozai made sure his presence was known on his daughters first day of school. So, he accompanied her till they were on the school grounds.

Azula noticed a boy looking at them through the window of the hallway. He looked away when he noticed she was looking back at him and started walking again.

"Ugh, I can already write, count and read," she turned to her father again "I don't need their help, you teach me everything that is important father."

Ozai laughed at that, as ever amused by his little impressive daughter's attitude.

"That much is true."

After bidding goodbye to her father, she made her way to her classroom as well. She immediately noticed two children who seemed to be from somewhere else. One of them the boy who was looking at her from the window earlier. He again turned his head away when he noticed she was staring at him too. He seemed nervous and insecure.

There were also two other boys who seemed to be troublemakers. They interrupted the lesson a few times.

It was the first day, not much happened so far. They had their personal seats and small closets. It was break time and Azula was already bored.

Sokka on the other hand was not bored. The two troublemakers kept sending him glares and were annoying him, referring to him as "stranger".

He decided to head to the garden and wait until break time was over. Katara was nowhere in sight. She was surely having a good time, better than him at the very least.

When he arrived in the garden and sat in front of a tree, he noticed he wasn't alone. The girl with the topknot and bangs was standing not far away from him. She was observing the school grounds, her arms folded.

Two boys were nearing her from behind. One of them had a ball in his hands. "Hey sweetie" Azula heard someone saying. She turned around and raised a judgmental eyebrow when she noticed who they were.

"Wanna play a game?" one of them said grinning and was about to throw the ball straight into her face.

Azula smirked, knowing these two had no idea of who she was. She found it amusing, for they would even forget their own names when they found out about her identity. But before she could do or say anything, someone else interfered.

"Leave her alone!" the boy with the blue eyes came into view, hands on his hips and a serious face expression "Or else I..."

"Or else what?" asked the other two and started laughing. Sokka was starting to feel nervous, he didn't exactly know what he wanted to do, he just didn't want any harm to come to the girl.

Azula rolled her eyes at all of them and took a fighting stance, which confused the boys. She was trained by her father all the time to defend herself and fight. Her movements were admirable Sokka thought to himself while he watched the way she managed to scare off the boys.

But nothing shocked and impressed all of them more than what Azula said...

"Better know who you're dealing with, you losers!" she said. "I am Azula. The Princess of this nation!" she stood there with utmost pride.

Eyes grew wide and the two troublemakers who were lying on the ground stood up immediately "We're sorry Princess! This will not happen again" they said and ran away.

Her eyes soon met the boy who tried to "save" her. Well, she ended up saving him. He was looking at her still shocked over what she said.

"You... you're the Princess?" he asked her.

"Yes, you heard as much".

Sokka smiled now. "I am Sokka from the southern water tribe."

It was Azula's turn to widen her eyes. Was this boy the son of the chief by any chance?

He picked up the ball the boys left there and reached to give it her. Azula gave him a confused but judgmental look. Sokka became unsure.

"You're weird" she said and Sokka blushed "but I like you" she smiled at him now. He smiled back at that.

She ran to him and touched his arm "Catch me!" she said and started running away. Sokka threw the ball to the ground and ran after her.

The school premises welcomed two cute children who played catch with joy and laughter. The day changed for the better for both of them.

They became friends immediately.

One thing they were unaware of: From now on their lives changed. They would be inseparable. A beautiful friendship was growing. A long-time, no, forever-time friendship, partnership and more was beginning today...

AN: I will most likely work more on this AU. I've written my first one-shot last year for Sokkla Saturdays. This is the "first chapter".
