Gajeel's moment to shine! I have no excuses but I do have a new drabble so へ‿(ツ)‿ㄏ
"Bunny, if you don't calm down this is not gonna happen." Gajeel huffed, settling his hands heavily on my shoulders to stop me vibrating in place.
I huffed back at him, but did my best to settle down and sit still. "Listen. I have lead a sheltered life up until Fairy Tail. You crazy bastards have completely upended my life into chaos, okay. Forgive me for being a little hesitant about you sticking metal into my body."
He just rolled his eyes. "This was your idea, bunny girl. Not mine."
"You have a valid point."
So, I may or may not have convinced Gajeel to give me a piercing. A septum piercing, to be exact. A cute little one, not a monstrosity like Taurus's. It was still a little nerve-wracking, though. The idea came to me after overhearing Wendy pester the iron slayer into placing adorable little dragon-shaped studs in her ears.
I was never allowed ear piercings as a child, never mind metal anywhere else in my body. I went a little crazy at the idea of my newly discovered bodily autonomy. What a wild concept.
Obviously this decision meant I had to talk Gajeel into even doing it for me. With his magic it wouldn't take but a second, not that he seemed to care. I whipped out my biggest pair of puppy eyes at him to get him to agree. He was sincerely such a huge teddy bear inside.
"What kinda ring you want, bunny girl?" Gajeel's gruff voice interrupted my inner monologue. "A hoop like your cow spirit, or a horseshoe?"
"Taurus is a bull. But I do like the seamless shape of a closed hoop like that," I tapped my chin for a moment, lips pursed, "Let's go with that one."
He scooted his chair closer to mine. "Now it ain't gonna be all gold and shiny and fancy. Gonna have to buy that kind after it heals," He cautioned. I rolled my eyes. Like I cared about that right now. Though that did make me wonder if Wendy would be willing to help this healing process along. Be just my luck to get a raging infection in my nose from some weird shit out on a mission.
Gajeel's hand settled heavily on my shoulder, warm and heavy. "You ready, bunny girl?"
The amount of air pulled into my lungs with that one sigh was slightly alarming. With a decisive nod in his direction, I clenched my eyes shut and waited. Have I had much worse injuries from missions, or even brawls getting out of hand at the guild? Yes. Was I still apprehensive of this piercing that I actually requested? Yes.
My face warmed at his approaching hand. I scrunched my eyes a tiny bit tighter.
There was a brief touch on the tip of my nose, then a rapid piercing pinch just inside it. My eyes immediately watered and all the air rushed out of me, and it was over.
My eyes flew open as Gajeel flicked me gently on the forehead. "That's it, bunny. All done."
I scrambled to pull my compact up and see how it looked. "Oh." It looked good. It was so cute. "It's so cute." I glanced up and made eye contact with Gajeel's stupid, amused face. I stuck my tongue out at him with a huff. "It's not like I expected you to fuck it up. I'm just somehow still surprised that you know how to make such little things."
He scowled and kicked lightly at the legs of my chair. "I put metal into my own face. I know restraint."
"And now you've put metal into mine and I lived to tell the tale." I teased, earning myself an eye roll. It didn't hurt much at all now, just a slight ache that increased if I twitched my nose.
"Don't know why I put up with you." He grumbled as he leaned back into a stretch.
I scoffed exaggeratedly, "Because you loooove me obviously!" Stretching out a bit on my own, I rolled my neck and took another look into my mirror. It really did look good. The darker color of Gajeel's iron would go well with any outfit, and I'm sure I could find a plethora of cute jewelry for it after it healed. I really would have to see Wendy about helping it along. "So how do I get it out of my face to change it, when it's healed?"
Gajeel fiddled around with his fingers for a moment before handing me a tiny iron loop. "This is what I put in yer nose. Seamless, but still has a tiny hinge so it clicks open and closed into a hoop." He demonstrated as he spoke. " 'S generally called a clicker for that reason."
"Makes sense." I nodded my head with an exaggerated air of wisdom. I was a little high on the sense of autonomy, and all the giddier for it. At least Gajeel seemed more amused by my nonsense than irritated. He really had become one of my closest friends in the guild — outside of Team Natsu, of course.
We went about the rest of the evening playfully trading insults, and just generally enjoying the other's company. Gajeel was always good for the quiet moments like that.
