Chapter One: Field Trip
"When should they be arriving?"
Ijichi looked up from his stack of papers, "Some time this afternoon Yaga-sama."
"Who would've thought we would have a group of ex-pat descendants come to visit…"
"I worry for their training, I didn't even think they would have enough young people to create an academy."
Sighing, Yaga scrolled through the information provided on the young students of Capital Academy. "Yes, agreed. I've never even heard of their teacher before… Suzuki Nokano…?"
The assistant director huffed, "Sounds fake to me. I wonder if she is even qualified to teach, she is merely a child herself."
"Only 19, she could be a prodigy…but of who? There is no such sorcerer over out west that would have taken on an apprentice."
"That is true, we send strong sorcerers when things get too overwhelming for them, but they come back in a matter of months."
Yaga stared at the 19-year-old head teacher. Her long black hair sculpted her face, leaving her big brown eyes open for slaughter.
"I can't believe they are coming!" Yuji yammered. "To think, all the way from Canada! That's so far, I've only been out of the country twice and that was to Singapore…but Canada!"
Nobara rolled her eyes at her classmate, "Calm down or else you'll scare them you dobe."
"Please, you're just as excited to see if any cute boys come around!" Yuji replied, crossing his arms and sticking his tongue out.
"At least I go on dates, you awkward log!"
"I get lots of women…" Yuji defended as he flexed his biceps. "Women love me and all I have to offer…"
"Careful Yuji, you're starting to sound like Todo-senpai." Megumi chimed in, looking at the instant dread that bestowed Yuji's face.
Norara burst out laughing, "Remember when we went to the karaoke bar this summer and Todo-senpai struck out with that college girl!"
"Yikes." Megumi smiled, getting up from the kitchen table. The three of them ended up in a small townhouse for upperclassmen on the school grounds. It had three bedrooms, three baths, and a communal dining area.
"Oh gods, I think part of me died from the second hand embarrassment." Nobara giggled, shoving rice into her mouth.
"Yikes." Megumi repeated, grabbing Yuji's empty bowl and placing it into the sink alongside his.
"Okay, maybe women don't like me that much…" Yuji slumped back into his chair.
Nobara looked over at the Sukuna vessel, "Awe, don't cry baby Yuji."
Megumi walked over to the two of them and grabbed them by their collars.
"Wahh, I'm not even done yet!" Nobara whined, reaching for her bowl.
"Come on, we are going to be late." Said Megumi.
Dragging along their friend, the two other third-years looked up at Megumi with big glossy eyes. Knowing it would set him-off, they yelled "Okay Mommy!"
Megumi threw both of them out the door, followed by whipping their shoes at their heads.
"Ow!"
"Mommy, why are you so mean?!"
"Wah Wah wah, I need my mommy!"
Megumi rolled his eyes as he side stepped each of their attempts to latch on to him, "I hate you both."
"Remember, we are guests here and we must respect their rules. They are different here, traditions run deeper." Tomo explained to the small group of students.
"We know Tomo-senpai, You've already given us the spiel…like, seven times." Replied Haruki Estudo one of the two second years in the academy.
"Respect Tomo-senpai, Haruki-chan. It's her first time here too." Sakura Kent joked, wrapping her arm around the second year.
"Just because you are a third year doesn't me you get to scold me 'senpai'!" Haruki joked.
The two had become close friends after a series of missions in the Greater Toronto area. They had exorcized 20 curses in two weeks, their sensei was so impressed she treated them to all you can eat hot-pot when they got back to the academy.
"We should hurry, we don't want to be late." Insisted the other second year, Nathan (Nate) Masaki. Out of the five students brought to japan, he was deemed the most responsible.
"Yes, yes. Lets get going." Nakano smiled, ushering her students towards the gates of Tokyo Jujustu High. She looked back, eyeing her two first year students getting distracted with their surroundings, "…And Nate, can you make sure our two little ones don't get lost please."
Nate turned and jogged over to the two first years. They were a pair fraternal twins, "Chiharu-chan, Nastuo-kun, come along now!" he pushed them forward toward the group, "We don't want to miss out on anything."
"No we don't." They replied in unison, "…but there's so much to see."
"Don't strain your eyes." Nakano warned as the approached the gates.
"Yes sensei." They answered.
Before they reached for the gate handle, Tomo turned to face the students, "Alrighty Capital Academy! Remain on your best behaviour! We are representing the West, but also Nakano-sama!"
The group of students smiled and nodded at their assistant director.
Tomo turned in nervous excitement as she opened the gate, "Now lets go introduce ourselves!"
"Where are the others?" Asked Nobara.
Megumi sat on the concrete steps outside the head office. "The second years went up North and the First years all got suspended for starting that underground gambling ring with the senior home across the road, remember…?"
"Aren't they going around cleaning all the senior homes in Tokyo for the next two months?" Yuji asked, sitting next to Megumi.
"Yes." He replied.
Nobara stood and wiped her skirt off, "Gross."
"Yup." The two boys shuddered.
Nobara looked around, "Where is Gojo?"
Yuji peered over his shoulder to peek inside the building, "I think he's talking to Yaga-sensei or at least scolding him on proper behaviour."
"At least that old crow won't be here." Nobara muttered, thinking about the principal of Kyoto High.
"Yah, I wouldn't want them to think all of us grow eyebrows like that." Yuji laughed.
Squinting, Megumi could see a group of sorcerers approaching the gate. "I see them, lets go."
"Canada, eh?" Yuji stood up, brushing the dust off his black pants.
Nobara punched his shoulder, "Ugh, don't even start Yuji…we need to make a good impression, so they don't try and kill you. Remember the last time we met foreigners?"
The three of them recalled the time two sorcerers from Germany came to visit and the first half of their trip was spent trying to kill Yuji for being the vessel.
"She has a point." Megumi agreed, "Plus we may need them as allies in the near future…"
Yuji looked at Nobara, silently nodding. As Gojo's students, his philosophies had been instilled in them and therefore, the 'higher-ups' automatically put targets on their backs.
"Megumi! My smartest student!" Gojo beamed, wrapping his arms around him.
"Go die." Megumi replied, trying to shrug the white haired sorcerer off of him.
"But how will daddy give you your private violin lessons?"
"I hate you."
Yuji slapped Megumi across the shoulder, "Saying you hate everyone really means you don't hate anyone at all…"
"He's got a point." Nobara agreed, but then turned her attention to their sensei. "And where have you been all morning? We were supposed to train at dawn according to your instructions!"
Gojo looked at the pretty brunette, "Ahh, well part of my teaching philosophy is giving you the independence of learning though engagement…on your own. I wont always be here to guide and educate…"
Nobara rubbed her tired eyes, "We just got back from an assignment last night!"
"Yes, strength grows through perseverance and adversity, young dragon" He chided.
Nobara pinched her sensei's arm, "I hate you."
Gojo looked over at the Nobara and Megumi. Everyone could see the hidden looks they gave each other, they flirtatious banter, and most recently the small physical touches. "You and Megumi seem to hate a lot…maybe the two of you could hate together…"
"They're here!" Jumped Yuji, rushing ahead of the group, silently saving his two friends.
Megumi gaze slid over to Nobara's, blush creeping upon her cheeks. Shit he thought as he watched her run up to catch Yuji.
"Don't worry, your secret is safe with everyone." Gojo teased before walking towards the group of new comers.
"Fuck, I hate you." Megumi murmured under his breathe.
"Welcome!" Yuji yelled, waving both hands in the air.
"That's the vessel." Nakano whispered to Tomo."I thought he would be scarier looking."
"That's what everyone says about you." Tomo baited, smiling up ahead to great the Tokyo students and their sensei. "Saturo Gojo is way better looking than the rumours make him up to be."
"Stop drooling senpai…" Sakura joked as she waved back at the strawberry head walking towards the small group.
"We didn't bring a bowl to catch it all, wouldn't want to flood the place." Haruki chimed in.
"Yeah, it's embarrassing senpai…" Nate added as he followed Sakura and Haruki.
"Yeah." The twins agreed, grabbing on to the back of Nate's jacket.
Nakano laughed, "The twins are really opening up to you eh?"
"Don't even start, I swear they are from The Shining, waiting to kill me…" Tomo replied in fear.
"Probably." Nakano giggled. "Now, lets go introduce ourselves to your future husband, shall we?"
