The day had gone by and I could barely focus in any of my classes. I had finally made it to my final class which was U.S History and the time was moving painfully slow. After what felt like years the bell had finally rung and I raced to the front of the school. I was met with four familiar faces and the new face that I just met today.
"You guys ready to go to my house?" I asked looking at them intently as they all nodded.
We all hopped into Lucas' car ready to go, but we couldn't quite leave because there wasn't enough space for Mike.
"So how is this going to happen?" Dustin asked looking at Mike still standing outside the car.
"How I see it is El might as well sit in his lap, Mike won't mind." Max said with a sly grin.
"Why me, you could sit in his lap, were the same height for Christ's sake." I replied back.
"Let me stop you right there El, my girl isn't sitting in another dude's lap, so either sit in his lap or his tall ass will just have to walk home."
I was annoyed and made sure to let it be visible, as much as I could tell Mike was going to enjoy this, I didn't have those memories he had. I got up and got out of the car and motioned for Mike to sit down, then I got back in the car and sat on his lap. When I sat down Lucas had crunk the car up and started to pull off. The ride started uneventful up until Mike wrapped his arms around my waist. My first instinct was to protest and tell him to knock it off, but there was this second instinct that told me to melt into his touch and just let it be. It all felt so natural like I had found my missing piece and in that moment, I definitely knew Mike and I had some past connection. The ride was short and we arrived at my house, it was a nice two story in a suburban neighborhood, I was just happy to be out of the cabin.
"Mike, when we get inside you can call your mom." I said turning around still on his lap
"No need, because apparently were next door neighbors." He said pointing at his house.
"I'll just go get my mom and meet you guys over at Eleven's house."
"You can just call me El." I said staring into his eyes.
For about just a full minute Mike and I stared at each other neither of us daring to daring to break the intense gaze of the other.
"Are we going to get answers or are you two just going to sit there and eye fuck each other all day." Dustin said looking at us.
"Eye fuck?" Mike asked looking at me.
I immediately moved to get off of him and got out of the car. Everyone else did the same while Mike went to go get his mom. We all walked into the house and were pretty surprised to see Joyce sitting in the living room laughing with my dad.
"Hey kids, how was school?" Joyce asked smiling at us.
"It was ok, uhh what's going on?" Will said looking at his mom.
Before Joyce could say something, Mike came in with a woman that honestly looked too good to be someone's mom. The smile on Joyce's face was replaced with shock when her eyes landed on Mike. In an instant Mike immediately ran over to Joyce and gave her the biggest hug. Joyce was crying as if she'd come face to face with her own long-lost child.
"It's so good to see you Mrs. Byers." Mike said releasing his embrace on Joyce.
"I hate to interrupt the moment and all, but what's going on?" My dad asked still clueless to why Mike and his mother were here.
"Mike here is Will's best friend but was kidnapped years ago, it hurt me especially since Mike is like my third child." Joyce said explaining half of the truth to my dad.
"Ok, everyone sit down so we can explain what's going on." I said gesturing for the adults to take a seat.
Mrs. Wheeler and Joyce took a seat on the couch joining my dad on the couch as well.
"As you all know except for Mrs. Byers and Mrs. Wheeler, I have an ability." I said while demonstrating by lifting a glass of water.
All their jaws collectively dropped while Joyce and Mrs. Wheeler were shocked by the stunning revelation, my dad was shocked because I had just revealed it to Joyce and Mrs. Wheeler.
"Before you begin throwing questions at me let me continue, Mike also has an ability and I think you have some explaining to do dad." I said looking at him.
"Uhh I-." He started but I cut him off.
"See dad Mike and I have known each other for a long time, show him Mike."
Mike started to use his ability and in a flash, we were in the rainbow room looking at a younger version of me.
"You're my best friend Eleven, I'll always be there for you." A younger sounding Mike said.
"Same." The younger version of me said and then they hugged and the memory faded.
"He can also move stuff with his mind like me. Now that you've seen his abilities and believe me, explain to me why I can't remember him." I said looking at my father and only my father.
"Listen kid, I think it's best if we wait a while to talk about this."
"No, let's talk about it now."
"Later." He said trying to get up.
"NO, NOW! THIS IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO ERASE APART OF MY LIFE THAT I DAMN WELL DESERVE TO KNOW!"
"Ok, when I first saved you day and night you talked about the other Eleven and how we had to go back for him, you even threatened to go on your own. That same night while you were sleeping, I called up Dr. Owens and had him wipe any memory of Mike. He said the memories wouldn't stay gone because the love was too strong and that something as simple as a kiss could trigger it all."
I stood there and felt like shit. I told Mike I'd always be there for him, but I wasn't even able to save him.
"So, are we going to get some Mileven action or no?" Dustin asked.
"Mileven?" My dad asked.
"Mike and Eleven, even though technically Mike is Eleven as well." Dustin explained.
"Mike, I hope you don't mind but I really need to kiss you."
"I told you I'd always be there for you, now is no different."
With those reassuring words from Mike, I locked my arms around his neck and kissed him.
A/N: Not my favorite chapter and I suck at dialogue, but it needed to happen.
