Hey Everyone! C.C. here. So this particular fic is one of the many that I wrote on a whim and that I plan on uploading all of them to here. If any of the things that I upload gain a good amount of attention, then I will continue to write that particular fanfiction.
Thank you for your time, and feel free to comment any opinions you have. Do keep in mind that I am not a noob to writing. I write a shit ton, i just never finish cause I don't see a point to if nobody reads it. Here is to seeing if that changes. Also if there are any comments spamming harem, no harem, or you begging and pleading for (insert one of my ocs here) to be paired up with a particular character with no rhyme or reason behind it, I will ignore it.
That will be all. So for now, enjoy this little one shot I did called Artificial Life.
My name is Rustle Bane. I am an old man in a young body that can no longer feel pain and hunger and cold. This is my body.
I know that if I were to open my eyes now, everything would be different. There would be snowflakes falling outside my window. There would be birds chirping. The sounds of children laughing. There would be flowers blooming all around me and the smell of freshly baked bread coming from somewhere near at hand. That's what I would have been doing, but not anymore.
This body is not mine anymore. The only thing it feels like is loneliness, pain and anger. I was never really part of this world, and when you live in another universe, there are no other parts of yourself to inhabit. You can do anything you want, but when it's time for you to go back home, you don't leave behind anything worth remembering. Your soul doesn't return with you. You just disappear into thin air.
There is nothing to remind me of this place. No memories of anyone here or anything good that has happened ever since I died.
Next thing I knew, I opened my eyes to a blue screen in the middle of the void.
[Congratulations! You have completed the initial game of Life, and will now be given a chance to reincarnate into a world of your choice, with your memories. You will also be given 2 powers of your choosing when you go to this world, and will start at the age of 15 with no family, and a house to yourself. We wish you the best of luck, and have fun!]
This voice didn't sound real and yet I had no choice but to believe it.
[Please select a world from the list below.]
The list went on forever, showing worlds from video games, anime, and so on. I decided to go with the world of DxD since that is what I remember the most about. I also chose my power.
"I want my power to be the ability to view the status of and create artificial beings with infinite potential and possibilities. Also the ability to put any number of these beings into an illusionary plane that allows them to train and can affect them, and the world around them physically".
Once everything was selected, I blacked out.
When I came to, I found myself lying on a bed and staring at bright white ceiling tiles. As I looked around and got off the bed, I spotted a mirror and took a look at my new self. I'm wearing a pair of jeans and a black T shirt. I had dark red hair. My skin was tan and a few freckles dotted my face. I even had a big scar above my left eyebrow and two smaller ones next to it on my right cheek. In short, I looked almost identical to my past self.
I guess my life had really ended and now I was reborn as some character that a deity was probably watching for entertainment. After a few more seconds of checking myself out, I stepped outside of my new bedroom. What surprised me was I spotted a forge near my bedroom, outfitted with a variety of tools. and even had a few materials lingering around like wood or iron. I made my way inside the forge and felt a massive amount of knowledge get ingrained in my brain. it had to do with the ability I requested. It detailed how to make all sorts of things, from golems, to androids, and even homunculus. The materials required are difficult to obtain, however, I can make golems and have them become strong enough to evolve into androids, or homunculus.
A small part of me wondered why I wanted my ability, but I put it off for now.
In any case, I started working on creating a golem. This one would be made out of wood to test things out. There was a section of the forge set away from the furnace that had many tools for sculpting, and I used them to create a humanoid golem. I then used some wood to create a head shape, arms, and legs. A lot of time was spent crafting this golem. By the time I finished, my ability gave it life and I was able to view its stats.
[Creature Type: Wooden Golem
[Level Of Power: Weaker that a teenager
[Evolution: Can Evolve
[Evolution Conditions: ???
[Skills: [Unending Stamina] [Heat Resistance]
Everything seemed like what I expected. For this first golem, I sent it into an illusionary plane to learn how to clean and maintain the house, and its equipment. I also made a second wooden golem and sent it to a plane to learn how to cook. The next golem I was making was being made out of tin. I made the body less androgynous and more feminine. I also created a sword to go along with the golem, and once finished, I checked their status screen.
[Creature Type: Tin Golem
[Level Of Power: Could Take On Several Humans At Once
[Evolution: Can Evolve
[Evolution Conditions: ???
[Skills: [Unending Stamina] [Basic Sword Mastery]
With that done and out of the way, I took out the two golems I sent to illusionary planes earlier, sent of the tin golem to learn how to use a sword, and went to my room to take a nap. I was mentally and physically exhausted from that. I had one wooden golem organize and clean the forge, while the other would cook while I took a nape, and would wake me up once it was done.
With a nod of satisfaction, I went to sleep and woke up an hour later. I walked down the stairs carefully until I reached the bottom and saw my wooden golem. There were no holes or cracks anywhere on its body. Its movements were smooth and precise. It was amazing to see and awe inspiring.
My golem stopped a couple steps away from me. It bowed respectfully with its hands folded together.
"Good evening, Lord Rustle," It sounded like it was a robot talking to a human.
"Greetings, golem." I remembered that I didn't name the golems. I decided to name this one Sebastian. As stereotypical as that is for a name, I utilized it since this one was the most butler like. I named the other wooden golem Jess, and I named the tin golem Tera.
I went to the living room to discover that Jess had cooked lunch and set out bowls, plates, and utensils on the table already. She was also cleaning up the kitchen.
Jess greeted me happily as I entered the dining area. Tera followed suit. After finishing lunch, I started utilizing all the remaining materials in the forge to make four more golems, one out of tin, one out of iron, one made of stone, and one made of steel. This time though I set the focus of them to be different then being based off of humans. Two had feminine appearances and two had masculine appearances. Once I checked the statuses of each of them, I realized what I wanted has actually worked.

With this, these four should be able to grow very strong. I named the drgonoid golem Coal, the Elf was named Durk, the low-class devil was named Desari, and the yokai was named Yamine. Once that was finished, I went to check out the outside of my house, and discovered that I live in the middle of a desert. Somehow I have electricity, plumbing, and food that mysteriously replaces itself. Probably has to do with magic. Because of this though, I have no idea where in the timeline I am at. I put that off for now and sat on one of my couches in the living room, and started using my illusionary realms ability to create dungeons similar to the ones The Gamer had access to, except I would list the difficulty, and allow my golems to enter them at any time. I also made training realms for their specific needs, like the cooking, or cleaning, or sword training ones I made earlier. An example of this would be:
[Dungeon Type: Exploration
[Difficulty: Easy
[Monsters Discovered: Slimes, zombies, Slime King, Legion Zombie
[Monster Drops/Loot: Randomized depending on who or what defeats them. Guaranteed to drop currency that can be converted into any form alongside randomized drops.
[Conditions: Legion Zombie and Slime King will only spawn if enough zombies or slimes are defeated.
[Level Of Power: Power ranges from weak as a baby, to Low-class in power.
