Grace Field Blueberry Pie
Since we're safe in William Minerva's paradise, let's make a dessert! Remember how Mama's pies smelled? They were deliciously fruity and saccharine. My favorite was her blackberry pie, which is the kind we're making today!
Let's start with the pie crust. Mix salt, butter, and flour together in a bowl. Add a half cup of water and stir until it's doughy. When it's ready, roll it into a ball and smooth it with the rolling pin to fit the tin.
Turn the oven on to 375 degrees celsius. Remember to ask for help if you can't reach the knob. While it's heating, wash the berries as we did in the rivers. You know which ones are edible by now, but in this new area, double-check. Otherwise, we'll have a tragedy on our plates instead of something sweet! With your berries in the tin, mix in sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cinnamon for the yummy filling. Then, carefully place the crust over the tin. I bet it looks nice!
Put it in the oven and wait for an hour. Wear your oven mitts when it's time to take it out. Congratulations! You made a pie just like Mama's! I'm certain she'd be proud of you like I am. I'm glad you three asked for my help. I can't wait to have our first slice together!
