Noelle looked up at the red-faced White in front of her.

"Are you okay? Your face is all red!" she exclaimed, leaning in towards him.

Wagner, who was off to the side watching, could only shake his head at Noelle's lack of knowledge within a certain field. There was no way he was gonna tell her that she was the main source of the young man's current predicament.

It was up to her to find and figure it out herself.

White, now noticing that Noelle was much closer than before, could only take a step back before holding his cheeks with the palms of his hands.

"W-What? I'm sorry, did you say something?"

Noelle repeated herself, "I asked if you were okay. Your face is all red, it could possibly be a fever."

"My face is red?" White inquired, taking his palms off of his cheeks and then pinching them.

Noelle couldn't help but laugh slightly as she watched White pinch himself, "They are! Do you mind if I gauge your temperature?"

White stopped pinching himself as he stood still in thought. He then nodded his head.

Seeing him give his approval, Noelle took off her gauntlets and placed them gently down on the table in front of Wagner. She gestured for White to lean down a little since she would have to extend her arm much more if he were standing at his full height.

After he leaned down a bit, she parted strands of his silver hair away from his forehead and placed the back of her hand against it.

She left it there for a few seconds before pulling away.

"Mhm, no fever. That's good."

She stepped back.

"But... your face is much redder than before. How strange," she said with a confused look.

White could only sigh as he too, stepped back.

"That's what I'm wondering, too. My face feels like it's all hot whenever that happens."

Noelle's eyes widened, "Should I retake your temperature?"

"Never mind, the two of them are both clueless. Oh, boy," Wagner thought while rolling his eyes.

White held up his hands to stop her, "No, no. It's all good."

"But-"

"I feel fine, but I truly appreciate your willingness to help," White smiled, "If you wish to help me out, you can help me pay for my weapon like you said earlier."

Noelle pondered for a bit before accepting what he said, however, she still wanted to recheck his temperature to truly make sure he didn't have a fever but refrained from doing so.

Taking out some mora to pay for his weapon, Noelle placed it down on the table for Wagner to count.

After doing so, she observed the clothing that White wore. Noticing that it was quite foreign, she connected the dots that he was new in Mondstadt.

"How are you liking your stay in Mondstadt so far?" Noelle asked with a smile.

"Oh? You can tell I'm new here?"

"Well, the clothes are quite a giveaway," she replied, still smiling.

White chuckled, "I guess so, and I also just arrived so I can't really give an answer. What's your name?"

"My name is Noelle, maid of the Knights of Favonius. It's my pleasure meeting you... um-"

"White," he gave her his name after she had realized that he never introduced himself.

"It's my pleasure meeting you, White," her smile seemed to have turned into a professional one, one befitting of a knight.

Placing one hand on his heart, he gave her a formal bow, "And it's an honor meeting you, Noelle, maid of the Knights of Favonius."

Noelle, who wasn't used to that sort of behavior towards her, was quite flustered and could only express her thanks.

Picking up his weapon, White sheathed it by his hip, and looked down at Noelle.

"I've recently registered as an Adventurer here in Mondstadt, so feel free to drop by to say hi," he said with a smile before walking off.

After White had disappeared from view by turning a corner, Wagner spoke, "He seems like a nice guy."

"Yep, he was really nice!"

"I wish you the best in the future, Noelle."

A confused look graced Noelle's features, "Hm? What does that mean?"

"You'll learn later on. But for now, I think I have an idea of a weapon that I can craft for you that won't bring you back here as frequently."

The bright look on Noelle's face as she heard that could even outshine the sun, "Thank you!"

"Thank me for when it does its job."

God, it felt like my heart was about to explode.

Is what White thought as he walked away, his smile had turned into a poker face that perfectly hid the internal turmoil inside of him.

I wonder what the Sustainer would think if I were to tell her about my current experiences with these emotions so far. She'd probably stare at me with her usual blank face without answering.

As he was lost in thought, White pushed open the doors to the Adventurers' Guild to pick up some commissions. He got the basic ones like Dangerous Haul, Spreading Evil, and some escort ones.

The more I think about it, the Sustainer probably hasn't experienced these strange emotions either.

He handed the commissions to Katheryne for approval.

Sorting through my memories, back to my training days, she definitely hasn't. So there's no point in telling her.

His thoughts ended there as Katheryne gave him the approval to take on the commissions he picked out. Marking down their locations, White started his first day as an Adventurer.

Well, only with time will I figure it out. That's what 500 years has taught me.

Starting with the Dangerous Haul commission, White approached the slime balloon that was transporting unknown goods to a certain location. However, it was much different from the game as the slime balloon had already been on the move far before White had arrived.

In fact, it seemed like it was nearly approaching its destination.

Even so, White took his time approaching the balloon with a relaxed stride.

As he came within range of it, White leapt up into the air and popped the slime that was carrying the goods with his sword. Immediately, the goods crashed down onto the ground with a loud bang.

But the commission still wasn't finished. He needed to smash the goods to smithereens.

Checking every direction to make sure no one was watching him, White started whistling as he pointed his hand at the goods and used his power to zap it out of existence.

And that marks one commission done.

Marking it down as finished on his list, he then marked Spreading Evil down as the next one to complete. These guys were way up in Brightcrown Canyon, which meant White had to travel quite the distance since he was currently near Springvale.

Well, might as well get started on the journey. I could just use a portal to get there, but who knows if the landscape is different from the one I know; I could end up teleporting to another world on accident.

And so he began his leisurely walk to Brightcrown Canyon.

At the pace White was going at, he'd reach Brightcrown Canyon within a week. He was walking that slowly.

Of course, he didn't realize that he was walking at quite literally a turtle's pace.

This made him a target of a group of Treasure Hoarders, who were waiting for unsuspecting souls to pass by so they could reap them of their valuables. But even they were getting impatient watching him walk at a speed that their grandparents could go many times faster than.

"Hey, are we gonna continue waiting for this turtle or are we gonna throw the plan out and just extort him?" a Treasure Hoarder with a shovel asked, he was a Gravedigger.

"You heard the question, boss. What say you?" another Treasure Hoarder asked, looking towards their leader.

"Normally, I'd say patience is key, but I don't think patience is a thing we can afford to have with that man," the leader, a female Treasure Hoarder, answered after a moment's thought.

"He's got to be dirty rich for sure! Look at the clothing he has on his back."

This time, it was a Treasure Hoarder who was fiddling with an electro potion who spoke, he was an Electro Potioneer.

"Indeed, it does seem to be of a unique make. It looks almost... otherworldly."

"Hey! He's finally within our range! Patience really does pay off," the Gravedigger pointed out.

"We were just speaking the entire time, though..."

"Ehem! Alright, stick to the plan! Marksman, fire off a shot into his arm!" the leader commanded.

The Marksman quickly steadied his shot, and fired off an arrow that was aimed to lodge itself into White's arm. However, when the arrow came within range of White, it bounced harmlessly off of a white barrier.

White's eyes shot in their direction.

Their eyes widened in surprise.

"H-Hey... did anyone see a v-vision on him by any chance?" the Marksman asked with a quiver in his voice.

"N-No..." the leader answered.

"Then how?!"

"It's gotta be some sort of arti-"

She wasn't able to finish her sentence as a massive stream of white cubes engulfed all of the Treasure Hoarders entirely with an explosion following afterwards, shaking the valley that connected the pathways from Springvale to Dawn Winery.

I didn't think Treasure Hoarders would be present here in Mondstadt.

Lowering his hand that fired off the cubes, White scratched the back of his head as he heard voices shout from Springvale questioning what the explosion was about.

I should leave before all the evidence is pinned down onto me.

Opening a portal that was similar to the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles', White thought about his destination. Looking off into the distance, he could see the top of Stormterror's Lair.

It was the perfect destination.

The height of it was tall enough to survey the entirety of Mondstadt, and therefore, allowed him to teleport freely across the entire region without any issue.

Levitating off of the ground, White floated through his portal.

His vision went white for a split second before the view of Stormterror's Lair appeared beneath him.

The sound of the wind barrier made itself known to his ears as his eyes looked up, and saw the special barrier that has yet to be unsealed by Barbatos. Also known as Venti, a local bard in Mondstadt.

Ehem, and alcoholic.

Now surveying the entirety of Mondstadt, White mapped out the layout in his head so he could use them as reference points later. If it were the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles who was teleporting, she wouldn't even need to think of where to go. Her portal would open up and take her straight there.

It kinda annoyed White about how much more advanced hers was compared to his.

They shared the same power, but yet she could utilize it in many more ways.

And he believed them to be equal in strength?

They may be so, but not in diversity of powers.

Or maybe he's just coping.

Sighing, White finished mapping out Mondstadt in his head, and opened up a portal to the location of the Spreading Evil commission.

On the outskirts of Brightcrown Canyon, a small group of hilichurls and a Pyro Abyss Mage could be seen standing around a campfire. Well, floating in the Abyss Mage's case.

"Listen up, you hilichurls. Those humans think they can keep us down and restrained, but little do they know of the power we wield!" a Pyro Abyss Mage spoke to the group of hilichurls, who were watching it closely.

"Mi mosi mita!" one hilichurl yelled.

"Shut up, you idiot! No one cares that you eat meat!" the Pyro Abyss Mage yelled, kicking the air out of annoyance.

"Ye dada!"

"Now you're calling me good after telling you to your face that you're an idiot? What am I getting myself into..."

"What is that?!" another hilichurl exclaimed.

"Huh?! You guys can actually speak prop-dear, Princess, what is that?" the Pyro Abyss Mage's mouth was agape behind its mask as it saw a massive white portal that had appeared out of nowhere.

Appearing from the portal was a young man with white-hair and piercing silver-eyes, White.

He stepped out in a slow dramatic fashion, the same way the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles had done so when confronting the two twins. Leaving the portal open behind him, he gazed down at the Abyss Mage and the hilichurls, who were all standing still shaking in fear.

"The arrogation of mankind ends now."

"The fu-BWEHEEE!"

The Pyro Abyss Mage was interrupted mid-sentence as it received a blow to the gut from White's cube that had easily penetrated its defenses.

"Ah ah, no swearing," White said with a smile, holding a finger to his lips.

"B-But... we aren't human," the Pyro Abyss Mage complained, struggling to breathe from the sudden blow from earlier.

"Ya yika!" the hilichurls yelled in unison, picking up their weapons but still shaking in place.

"I can see that, it's just a line that I've been needing to practice for the upcoming future," White replied, ignoring the hilichurls.

"Y-You...!"

"Hey, tell the Princess I said hi, okay?" White asked, aiming the palm of his hand at the Abyss Mage.

"Where did you get such information?! Don't tell me you're here to falter our plans, like that damned Dainsleif!" the Abyss Mage stood up in anger as pillars of fire began to shoot up from the ground, signifying that it was getting ready to pop its shield once more.

"Actually, I take that back. You can't relay my message since you'll be getting killed by me," White ignored it as a stream of blinding white cubes erupted forth from the unknown and propelled themselves towards the Pyro Abyss Mage, and in the process of doing so, it consumed all of the hilichurls within the vicinity.

The Pyro Abyss Mage who saw this, could only shout in anger, "This... this is not the power of a human nor a vision wielder! YOU DAMNED GODS!"

Those were its final words before it was consumed by the ongoing stream as an explosion erupted, the result of the attack.

Turning his back to the explosion, White pulled out a piece of paper and marked the commission down as complete.

I wonder how mad it would've gotten if I told it I was only here for a commission.

He arrived in Mondstadt after finishing up the rest of his commissions, which were basic ones such as repairing a wagon and escorting a caravan.

Approaching Katheryne, who had her station outside, he handed her the paper which signified the completion of his commissions. She was pleasantly surprised by how quickly he had done them, but was also happy at the fact that Mondstadt had another competent adventurer.

"Here are the rewards for today. We're looking forward to seeing more from you, Mr. White!"

White nodded his head, "Of course. I'll be sure to do these daily."

I ended up only using my sword to pop that slime balloon during Dangerous Haul...

White was beginning to think that maybe him getting the sword was pointless. If today was going to be like the upcoming days in the future, he might as well give it to someone else since he had ended up using his powers out of habit.

No, I can't give it up just yet. It'll come in handy in the future... for lying.

Once again, his poker face hid the internal turmoil he was having inside as he collected his rewards from Katheryne. After doing so, he figured that he would head to Good Hunter to buy some food to taste.

He hasn't eaten since the time he arrived on Teyvat after all. Well, actually, he hasn't eaten in the past 500 years but he wasn't going to let anyone know that. So, in reality, this was his first time ever tasting a meal after he had forfeited his humanity.

He wondered what it was going to be like.

What exactly was tasting?

It appears to be something that humans tend to enjoy very much, although there are some bad aspects to it judging by the faces they can make.

Will his first experience be good or bad?

If it's bad, he won't ever eat again.

But if it's good... he'll continue doing so occasionally.

Arriving at Good Hunter, White noticed that there was quite a line of people who wanted to order or take-out. He even saw a familiar Outrider and Spindrift Knight in the line together.

Isn't Eula usually denied services, though?

White stared at their backs as Amber and Eula ordered their meals. However, no difference could be seen as both of their orders were given full attention. Right, the waitress here was one of the few people who could overlook Eula's family history.

As the line continued to grow shorter, the tables only continued to become more packed than ever before. At this point, White was wondering whether if there was gonna be any extra tables left for him to sit at.

He watched as people left and reoccupied tables. If there truly wasn't any room left, he'd probably have to seat at a table with some stranger or take it to-go.

When it was finally his turn to order, the first meal that came to mind was a Sweet Madame.

"Welcome to Good Hunter. How can I help you?" Sara, the waitress at Good Hunter asked.

"Hi, I would like to order a Sweet Madame."

"Would that be to-go or will you be dining here?"

"I will be dining here."

"I see! Then feel free to occupy a table while we prepare your meal!" Sara explained with enthusiasm as she gestured over to the remaining free tables.

Looks like I'm in luck.

Finding an empty table, White seated himself down lazily and waited patiently for his food. While waiting, he overheard the gossips of people from nearby tables. They talked about stuff or people who were popular in Mondstadt, take Acting Grandmaster Jean for example. They were talking about how reliable and hardworking she was, and how different her work ethic was compared to the carefree Varka.

Speaking of Varka, even I don't know what he looks like.

A drink was then placed down on the table in front of White, realizing that he hadn't ordered one, he looked up to see Sara give him a wink.

"This one's on the house as a welcome to Mondstadt."

I guess there's more people than I thought who can tell that I'm new.

Grabbing the drink, White took a quick sniff.

The hell's this? It smells... weird.

His face contorted as he caught a whiff of the drink. It smelled strong, stupidly strong. But yet, the people around him were downing it as if it were water.

I guess one sip wouldn't hurt.

Curiosity got the better of him as he took a quick sip of the drink. His eyes widened in shock before slamming the mug back down on the table.

My god that tasted like shit! How the hell can these people drink this?!

Wiping his lips, White pushed the drink away with a disgusted expression.

That was only a drink so I can't imagine how the food will taste.

Fortunately, the moment he thought of that, his food had arrived. Sara, who came to hand him his order, saw the barely touched drink and could only chuckle.

"I'm sorry, was it not to your liking?" she started a bit of small talk while laying out White's order on the table in front of him.

"Yes, it was very strong."

"Would you like a different drink then?" Sara asked, holding the now empty tray close to her chest.

"That would be great, I'll have some water," White replied instantly as he gave the mug to Sara when she had outstretched her hand to grab it.

"I'll be right back," she smiled before heading back to empty the mug and refill it with water.

It only took a minute for Sara to return with the mug of water. After placing it down on his table, she went back to taking orders.

White, seeing the feast laid out before him was hoping that it wouldn't be like the drink from earlier. Grabbing the utensils given to him, he wanted to dig in but he wasn't sure how to do so.

How do humans usually consume their meals?

His eyes darted left and right to observe others eat. He watched as one person cut into a perfectly medium-rare steak with a knife, stabbed it with their fork, and then shoved it into their mouth.

However, watching a person eat a completely different meal from his didn't help at all. So he needed to watch someone who had ordered the same meal.

His eyes moved once more and discovered that Amber, had too, ordered a Sweet Madame.

Watching her closely, he copied her movements. When she picked up her fork. He picked up his. Monkey see, monkey do.

He copied her movements of stabbing the Sweet Madame with the fork, and plucking its skin and juicy meat off.

Then he took a bite.

His eyes widened as an explosion of flavors made themselves present inside his mouth. The juice and tenderness of the meat coated the roof of his mouth as the crunch of the skin turned into a bunch of tiny flakes of flavor that tickled the taste buds on his tongue.

He drank the juice that erupted from the meat before swallowing.

That was how high quality of a meal this was.

This... is this heaven?

"Mhmmm!" he couldn't help but let out a sound of delight.

His first meal in this life awakened his love for food.

A/N: And that's chapter 3 done. Thank you for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed it! It won't take too long nor too short to reach the main plot of the story, I would like to just expand a bit more on our main character's slice of life.
