Prompt: Books/High School (2021)
Saga Masamune had to admit that he was kind of a mean person. For some reason his boyfriend-Oda Ritsu-didn't seem to pick up on this despite the fact that he was usually the target of Masamune's teasing. It was times like this that he was a little thankful for Ritsu's obliviousness. He'd hate for Ritsu to actually take offense from his teasing, but Ritsu was just too damn cute not to mess with.
"Saga Senpai, please give me my book back." Ritsu said, a frown beginning to tug at the corners of his lips. He was sitting across from Saga at the library currently. The two of them were at their usual table. This time Ritsu had brought his own book from home to read instead of checking out something here because he was far too impatient to wait to get home to read it. The twists and turns of the mystery were keeping him on his toes! And he simply couldn't wait to reach the conclusion!
However, Saga had thrown a wrench in that plan pretty quickly.
It was really Ritsu's own fault, after all. The first year student had nobody to blame but himself! He just made it so easy! Plus, what Saga supposed to do? Pass up the opportunity to make Ritsu pout? As if.
"Mm, I don't think I will." Saga said, looking over the cover of the book as if he were really interested in it. "I think I'll keep it."
"You can borrow it when I'm done, but-" Ritsu started to protest, but Saga was not budging.
"I don't know, I think I'd rather have it now." Saga interrupted.
Ritsu blinked and stared. What in the world had gotten into his Senpai? They borrowed books from each other all the time, but why was Saga basically holding his book hostage now?
"If you really want it back, maybe you could do something for me." Saga started, trying not smirk as he spoke.
"Like what?" Ritsu said, reaching forward to try to take the novel back, but Saga kept it out of his grasp.
"Mm, I don't know. I'll have to think about it." Saga feigned disinterest toward Ritsu and instead flipped through the pages of the book as if he actually wanted to read it. "This book looks pretty interesting, after all." In reality, he couldn't care less about the book. Although it appeared otherwise, he was in fact paying very close attention to Ritsu's reactions.
Ritsu pouted and Saga swallowed hard, gripping the book a little tighter. Damn it, he's so cute, Saga thought, irritated at how his heart fluttered at the sight of that pout. It just wasn't fair! Stupid Ritsu and his stupid adorable face.
"I think I thought of something you can do." Saga said, trying to keep his appearance calm and collected. Saga couldn't possibly let Ritsu know how he affected him, his own pride wouldn't allow it.
Ritsu raised an eyebrow. "What is it?" He asked, eager to have his book back in his possession.
"You can kiss me."
Ritsu nearly shrieked at the suggestion, but managed to keep himself quiet considering they were still in the library. Plus, it would be quite the embarrassing sound to make.
"H-h-here? Right now?" Ritsu asked, his tone overtly hushed as he looked around the library in a panic, hoping that no one was paying attention to them.
Saga tried not to snort in amusement. "The sooner you do it the sooner you get this back." He said, holding the book up.
Ritsu was flushed red and fidgeting in his seat. Saying he was embarrassed was an absolute understatement. Why was his Senpai teasing him like this? Still...it meant Senpai wanted to kiss him! And that was a good thing, right? Plus, Ritsu didn't want Saga to think he was being rejected. Ritsu swallowed hard and hesitantly met Saga's gaze.
Saga was resting his head in one of his hands, the other still holding the book up. He was doing his best not to smile.
"You...You'll seriously g-give it back? If I...do that?" Ritsu asked softly.
"That's what I said."
Ritsu took in a sharp, deep breath and gave one last quick glance around the library before launching himself forward to give his Senpai a lightning fast peck on the lips. He then sat back down and screwed his eyes shut tight. He held his hand out for the book expectantly.
I think my heart is going to explode, Ritsu thought as he felt it beat hard against his chest. He couldn't believe he had just done that! And that Saga Senpai had asked him to do it!
However, as Ritsu was having his mini meltdown he realized the book was not placed in his hand. Ritsu frowned once more and managed to make himself look at his Senpai.
Saga was still holding the book and looking at Ritsu, though there was the slightest tint of red on his cheeks, not that Ritsu noticed.
"W-Well? A-Are you going to give me my book?" Ritsu asked, huffing a bit.
"You didn't kiss me yet."
"I did!" Ritsu insisted before looking around quickly once more to make sure he didn't disturb anyone with his slight outburst. "I-I did." He repeated, quieter. What in the world was Saga going on about? Ritsu had most certainly kissed him, the proof was in his blushing cheeks and frantically pounding heart.
However Saga only seemed to regard him with indifference. "You call that a kiss?" Saga asked with a slight tilt of his head.
"W-W-What else would you call it?!" Ritsu really tried to keep his volume down, but was finding it very difficult with how his Senpai was flustering him.
"It was...cute," Saga started, "but I wouldn't call it a kiss." He said as he stood. He grabbed his bag and put Ritsu's book in it.
"Hey..." Ritsu started to complain as he watched his book disappear into the bag.
"Come on. We can go back to my house and I'll show you what a real kiss is like. Then you can have your book back." Saga said, however if things went the way Saga was hoping then Ritsu would forget about that book very quickly. Ritsu stared, his mouth slightly agape at the implication of his Senpai's words. When Ritsu didn't move Saga raised an eyebrow at him. "Well? Are you coming?"
Ritsu scrambled to stand and grab his things. "Yes! Y-Yes, please lead the way." He squeaked out, only barely managing to stand up on his jelly legs.
Saga walked ahead a bit, smirking to himself as Ritsu trailed behind him.
It really was just too easy.
