Once, there was a pair of siblings living in an orphanage. The two were inseparable, no matter what they were doing, they were always together. The two's inseparable nature made it so that those who saw it became confused. Those who are in charge of the orphanage however, were enraged, for it prevented them from acting on their malicious intent. They keep trying to pry the siblings from each other, but to no avail. And so they increasingly became agitated, so much so that they do not bother to hide their contempt anymore, to both the fox in disguise and the fool that decides to protect her.

The other children in the orphanage who saw the adults action toward the siblings then followed suit. They followed the adults into making the twins' life as miserable as possible.

It started light, a little teasing there, a little prank there. But then it quickly escalates. The caretakers purposely reduce the twins' servings per meal. The boy who saw his sister not getting enough food gave most of his meal so that she doesn't become malnourished. When asked by her he always smiles and says that he was already full.

Seeing the twins unwavering care for each other, the caretakers then decide to take things too far, as if not providing enough meals for little kids weren't enough.

They decided to end all of it, enough was enough.

It's time for the fox to pay for its sins, the souls of those who passed away seven years ago would not rest in peace until the fox is brought to justice. And if the fool insists on protecting the demon, then he too shall pay for its sins.

The more violent ones then decide to forcefully separate the two, and the ones who weren't brave enough let them do as they want. The other children who saw it followed the adults, for deep inside their heart, they felt jealous for the twins. Everytime the Hokage came to visit the orphanage, the two twins were always the one he sought first. The twins were always invited with him inside his office and spent the day with the leader of the village. What makes them so special? if those two were gone then the Hokage's attention would end up towards them, right?

And so goes their plan. In the middle of the night, they march into the room the two were assigned. Inside they found many toys and clothes given to them by the Hokage. The children who saw this widened their eyes. Surely these toys would be theirs if only the twins didn't exist. But the adults ignored the children that followed them. They are staring at the single big bed in the room. The bed is clearly meant to be used by two people instead of one. Which is proven by the bulge of the blanket covering the persons sleeping on top of the bed.

Seeing that their targets are in front of their eyes, they hurriedly walk to the bed as if something possesses them. Ripping the blanket apart they prepare to take the two little kids from their slumber.

Only to find a bunch of pillows neatly placed.

This shocked the people who saw it. The twins must have escaped. The caretakers then began to panic. For the twins to escape like this means that their plan has been foiled before it even begins. And now the consequences of their actions began to settle.

They have just threatened the two children that the Hokage has entrusted to them. And now with the same children escaping from them, they must be looking for the Hokage to report the people inside of the orphanage. It is a disaster. They know that while the Hokage seems to be a kind old man on the outside, he is also a Shinobi, and for them to act against the orders given to them directly by him…

Disaster must be waiting for them.

Unbeknown to them, the boy had already been aware of their malice ever since the caretakers decided to pull their nasty trick months ago. And so he prepares all he and his sister need in time the orphanage becomes too hostile for them. A slip of paper is what he needs to end all of the misery he and his twin have experienced.

And as the caretakers have feared, Disaster is waiting for them.

A squad of ANBU kicked the door open. The children who followed the caretakers in their plan screamed. And the adults who were supposed to care for the twins were immediately being restrained harshly by the squad of killers. They tried their best to resist, but they immediately stopped when seeing a figure that invoked the feeling of dread inside them.

A white robe with red as the inner clothes. The face that is usually kind and gentle is now furious. And a hat with the word fire on top of the hat completed his appearance.

But instead of punishing the perpetrators, he immediately walked past them. Stopping at the now broken bed, he pushed it aside. What he found is the twins hugging each other tightly. The boy's hand caringly stroked his sister's back to stop the shaking. Despite her sobbing that is now heard by the outside, the boy patiently tries to calm his sister with a calming voice.

A pair of hands suddenly envelops the two. The girl who felt the old man's arms then cried to his shoulder instead. But unlike the girl, the boy became silent. He did not hug the old man back.

The Hokage ignores his behavior, for what is important is the fact that the twins are safe. He can only feel relief that he is not too late. He should have opened the piece of paper given to him earlier by the boy, but he just ignored it until it became almost too late. He can only curse himself to put the twins in this situation. Hugging the two tightly, he swore that he would make sure his successor's children's safety would be his top priority. He owed their father too much for all he had sacrificed.

And that is how the twins get out from the orphanage. The experience has left a mark in both of the twins. Where the girl swore to gain the respect of those who do them wrong, the boy instead grew his hate for the world and the inhabitants within it.
