Chapter 6

"What the fuck did you do to me?!"

Gray woke in alarm as he was hoisted up by his shirt with Laxus screaming into his face.

"What the hell are you going on about?! Let go of me Laxus!" Gray glared and struggled against Laxus's grip when he was suddenly let go. He stumbled and rubbed his chest as he got his bearings. He glanced back at Laxus about to give him a piece of his mind but stopped as he took in the way Laxus looked. His face was buried in his hand and the other hand was clutching his chest. He noticed black tendrils of something crawling up his skin from the exposed part of his chest. Has he been poisoned?! When the hell did that happen? On the way to the train? "Laxus. What is going on? Have you been poisoned?" he asked hesitantly.

Laxus looked up at Gray in surprise and then burst out laughing. Oh yeah... He's lost it. "Maybe we should just get you back to the guild. Have Porlyusica look you over-"

"NO!" Laxus yelled. Gray watched as Laxus also looked startled at his own reaction. "I just... I have to..." Laxus sighed and gave in. "I have to save Lucy." He said tiredly. Gray's jaw dropped.

"What?! Lucy?"

"Yeah, what of it?!" Laxus glared at him. Gray raised his hands in front of him in surrender.

"Nothing! It's just... Why are you going through all of this for Lucy? Did someone poison you so you'd have to bring her back?"

Laxus sat down leaning back against the wall and grit his teeth. Thinking more on his current state Laxus sighed in defeat, giving in. "Look Popsicle... I don't know what's wrong with me. It started when I first met Lucy a while ago. I... I can't stop thinking about her and every time I see her I can't help but feel a pull towards her.." Gray couldn't hold it in. He burst out laughing and Laxus glared and sent a tendril of lightning at him, shocking him.

"Ah! Fuck! Alright... It's just... YOU! In love?" Laxus's eyes widened.

"Love?! Fuck no! No way! Besides.. I barely know her."

"Mhm sure. But that doesn't explain why you look like some infected zombie stumbling around."

"Look. All I know is that I feel physical pain if I even THINK about anything that could potentially hurt Lucy. Even if I wanted to leave Lucy alone I can't. It feels like my body will tear itself apart if I try to ignore these.. feelings. Ugh this fucking sucks. First the voice, then the pain, and now I'm explaining all this fucked up shit with YOU of all people." Gray sat next to him as Laxus ranted and his mind was reeling. Of all the people who I thought would spill their guts about love, I NEVER thought it would be LAXUS... This is weirding me out... Maybe...

"Have you talked to Lucy about it? I mean... this sounds pretty serious if it's affecting you that much." Gray reasoned. Laxus thudded his head against the wall behind him and clenched his jaw.

"I can't..."

"Well... Do you like her? What if you took her on a date? See what happens?" Gray couldn't believe he was having this conversation.

"ME?! A date? Are you serious? Don't you know who I am?" He laughed hollowly. "She'd never go for it... I think I already messed it up. Although, I don't know how. She seems mad at me for whatever fucking reason." Laxus said sadly.

"What if instead of a date date... Go on a job together? Get to know each other?" Laxus thought it over for a moment but shook his head.

"What if... I'm not good at the whole... getting to know her? What if she rejects me? Will my body be covered in this black shit?" He questioned looking at his chest.

"Then don't make her hate you." Gray said seriously, making eye contact with Laxus. Laxus grunted and then looked up sharply. He shot to his feet and started running to the docks.

"H-Hey! Laxus! Wait!" Gray yelled after him trying to keep up. Once Laxus made it to the docks lightning stuck where he was and another strike a second later landed on the island in the distance. Gray gritted his teeth. That asshole.

With Lucy...

"EEP!" Lucy's legs gave out and she was about to get crushed by a giant rat in a maids outfit when light suddenly filled her vision. Wait... not light! Lightning! She was stunned as the rat fell to the ground in front of her, fried.

"YOU IDIOT!"

She turned sharply. H-He's HERE?! Why? How?! IDIOT?! Her thoughts stopped short when she took in his appearance. He's upset... Why? But it's more than that... He looks exhausted and... worried? About me? No way. She huffed, carefully standing up and crossed her arms under her chest.

"Why are YOU here? Didn't you get enough of me already?" She bit out at him and winced at the hurt in her own voice. He appeared in front of her in a flash and grabbed her upper arms in a vice-like grip pushing her up against a large rock on the beach. She flinched as his grip tightened.

"Enough of you? What the fuck do you mean by that?! Don't you know that this is an S-Class job?! You could have been fucking KILLED?!" He yelled at her.

Her bottom lip trembled as the hulking man in front of her seethed in rage. "I-I was handling it just fine..." He looked at her and slowly loosened his grip and eventually let go of her and took a step back, turning around trying to calm himself. He ran a hand through his spiky blonde hair and sighed, turning back around to face her.

"Look I don't know what your problem is but-"

"MY PROBLEM?! What about YOU! The way you left that morning... Was I just some quick lay to you?! Did that night mean ANYTHI-" She didn't get to finish her rant as he quickly closed the distance between them and crushed his lips to hers.

What the fuck am I doing?

What the hell is he doing?

Both instantly melted into the kiss. Lucy closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck as he pushed her firmly against the boulder. He crept a hand to the back of her head, tangling his fingers into her hair and tugged her hair softly. She gasped and he took advantage, moving to taste her mouth with his tongue and hers met his in a dance for dominance. They only parted to gulp down some much needed air and Laxus rested his forehead against hers, eyes meeting.

"Laxus... I'm confused... I heard things about you the other day..." she trailed off biting her lip nervously. He saw the movement and couldn't help the groan that left his mouth.

"What things?" He whispered softly to her. She closed her eyes, enjoying being near him.

"I heard that you're a player and that you sleep around a lot... not to mention everyone has told me to stay away from you because you can be an asshole..." She sighed and felt him put his hand on her chin, lifting her head up to look him straight in the eye.

"All of which is true. I don't date. I'm an asshole who fucks a new girl anytime I'm in town. And I have never cared about any of them." She flinches at his words, feeling a stabbing pain in her heart."But.." He opened and closed his mouth like a fish trying to figure out how to tell her what was happening to him. He growled frustrated. And, taking a step back, began to pace in front of her. "I... I don't know what this is... I.." Sigh. "I feel this pull towards you. I can't help myself whenever you're near... What happened the other night? With my magic and the sex? That's never happened before. I've never lost control of myself when with any other girl. And when I found out you went on this S-Class job?! Gods Lucy I was fucking worried about you! I couldn't even bear the thought of something happening to you... I know we don't even fucking really know each other, but the thing is that I... care about you... Hell I was having a hard time just getting here because I felt so sick thinking you might be in trouble..."

Lucy was in tears, her heart hammering in her chest. He smelled her tears and quickly went to her and lifting his hands to her face, he gently wiped them away.

"Sorry... I'm not good at this whole... feelings..." He ended lamely and she giggled and smiled up at him. He huffed grumpily "Jeez, don't fucking laugh." He turned his face away from her but she reached up and turned him to her and kissed him softly. He immediately returned the gesture, kissing her sweetly. Soon the kiss heated into a burning passion and Laxus pressed his body against hers. She reached a hand up and tugged on his spiky blonde hair and he smirked as she used the same technique he used on her earlier. He lifted her up by her thighs and she wrapped her legs around his waist and instantly felt his arousal against her core and groaned.

"Don't you see what you do to me Lucy?" He panted, placing kisses along her jaw, down to her neck and he inhaled her scent and suddenly felt the urge to bite her again and snapped his head up, gazing intently at her neck.

"What?" she questioned.

"The bite? From the other night? There's no mark?" he said with confusion. She blushed, reaching a hand up to her neck.

"Uh yeah, it's actually something I wanted to talk to you about..." She untangled herself from him and she readjusted herself, determination in her eyes as she brushed her hand over her keys, grabbing onto one and chanted "Open, Gate of the Giant Crab! Cancer!" and a doorbell rang out. A flash of light and a crab-like man stood next to them who instantly went on alert.

"Lucy! What can I do for you, Ebi?" Laxus looked over the Spirit as Lucy explained this was one of her Zodiac keys and introduced them to each other.

"Hey Cancer! Can you undo the magic makeup you placed on my neck and forearm please?" She asked, pulling her hair away from her neck and holding out her left arm.

"Of course Ebi!" He smiled at his master and friend and within a few minutes he stepped away from her and Laxus zeroed in on her neck first. A yellow dragon tattoo? He stepped closer to examine it and his brows furrowed when he realized the small yellow scales on the 'dragon'. Then he looked down to her arm and saw what looked like another less noticeable tattoo. There were a few streaks of yellow lightning that ran from her wrist, up the inside of her arm and curled around to her upper arm. But the stranger thing was that the tattoo, while only really visible when the light hit it just right, MOVED. It looked like there was live electricity crackling under her skin and he looked at it in awe.

"Do you know what's happening to me? It appeared after the first night..." She blushed and he shook his head then looked at her seriously.

"Listen Lucy... there's something you should know about me. It might have to do with everything going on but you can't tell ANYONE... No matter what happens. Not even Natsu, Gray, or Erza. I'm not even suppose to be mentioning it.. It's a rule that my Gramps gave me." She nodded seriously and he took a breath.

"I'm a dragon slayer."
