Gotham City

It was nighttime in Gotham City. The rain was coming down hard on the streets filling the sewers with water. The wind was blowing throughout the city so strongly that it would have made carrying an umbrella useless. And each time it was thundering, the lightning lighted up even the darkest corners of Gotham. But some would say that Gotham was nearly an isolated city but not because it was gloomy, but because of what lurked in the city.

Most people who lived in Gotham didn't move outside at night and for a good reason. Gotham City was known for its increased crime and corruption but it was especially known as the home of supervillains who have terrorized the city for years now and killed a lot of innocent people.

But the city had a silent guardian protecting its people from the shadows. A guardian who fought against the evil that lurked in the city. This guardian called himself "the Dark Knight" but he was commonly known as Batman.

Batman has been fighting crime in Gotham and then around the world after joining the Justice League for most of his life. He has faced many enemies such as the Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, and anyone who committed crimes in Gotham and inflicted harm upon many people.

And yet despite Batman stopping the criminals from time to time, they always have broken out of Arkham to unleash their terror upon the people of Gotham. It was a cycle of death and suffering, a cycle that has continued ever since Batman came to be. And it seemed that the cycle wasn't going to be broken unless someone is willing to do what must be done to break the cycle, something that Batman couldn't do.

Speaking of Batman, he was currently standing on top of one of the buildings watching the city below him. Even though it was dark and raining, the lights on the streets and houses made the city look beautiful in Batman's eyes.

"If it only would last forever," Batman thought.

He was then taken out of his thoughts when he was contacted by his friend Clark Kent aka Superman.

"Bruce, can you hear me?" Superman asked.

"What is it, Clark?" Batman asked.

"We just received several reports of a fire in several cities. We need your help," Superman said.

"Understood, I'm on my way," Batman said.

Then he summoned the bat plane to his location by activating a transmitter on his utility belt. When the plane arrived, Batman jumped in and then headed to Metropolis to join up with Superman.

Meanwhile somewhere in Gotham

As the storm raged on in Gotham, a dark figure was standing on top of the church watching down the city but it was not Batman or any of the Gotham Knights.

The figure was wearing a black combat outfit with a black army vest, gun holster, knee guards, combat boots, and gloves, he was also wearing a black one-hole balaclava and military cap. But the interesting parts about the outfit were the black tactical sunglasses covering the figure's eyes, the black wrist computer on his left arm, and the black wristwatch-like device on his right wrist.

This man was Jason Connor whose codename was "Ghost", an agent from the unit called the Division. It is a classified unit of highly trained agents with access to advanced technologies, experimental equipment, and various types of weapons. They also had a unique symbol (Winslow Accord insignia from Call of Duty: Black Ops III).

But because of what they do and how they do it, the existence of the Division has been kept secret from the whole world, even from the Justice League. Only a few certain governments in the world know about the Division and its agents.

The purpose of the Division is to eliminate crime, fight terrorism, and even protect humanity from those who want to destroy it. But the Division uses extreme methods such as killing to get the job done which is one of the main reasons why their unit is secret.

For example, the government once requested the Division to do something they didn't want to get their hands dirty with. And a week after the request, the Division agents killed every single criminal in the city that was targeted. Or the time when the invaders from Mars attacked Earth, the Division blew up their mother ship from the inside with a nuke when the ship was fleeing Earth.

For all the years the Division has existed, the agents such as Ghost have done a lot of work to keep the world and its people safe from crime, terrorism, and even alien threats. Despite the difficult challenges, the Division continued to operate from the shadows and do what needed to be done to keep the world safe.

As Ghost was watching the city below him, he couldn't help but feel both impressed and disgusted. Impressed because of the city's beauty and architecture, and disgusted because Gotham was home to the most dangerous criminals and villains he has fought so hard to kill.

"If it wasn't filled with the scum like the Joker, Gotham would be a good city to live in," Ghost thought.

He was then taken out of his thoughts when he heard someone approaching him from behind. The Ghost then turned around and saw a masked man who was wearing the same outfit as he was. It was another Division agent named Jake O'Neill whose codename was "Deadeye".

"Deadeye, what brings you to this neighborhood?" Ghost asked.

"A new mission from the director and it's nice to see you too," Deadeye replied.

"Sorry, I just wasn't expecting you," Ghost apologized.

"It's okay, bro. I know this city brings up bad memories," Deadeye said.

"It's fine. I'm used to it now," Ghost said.

They stayed quiet for a moment until Ghost spoke up.

"So, what is this new mission about?" Ghost asked.

"Well, I'd say that Gotham will finally get the justice it needs," Deadeye replied.

"What do you mean?" Ghost asked.

Instead of answering, Deadeye asked Ghost to follow him down to the street where Deadeye's car was parked. When they were next to the car, Deadeye opened the door and revealed a bag that had a bomb inside it.

"Nice bomb but what will we blow up with it?" Ghost asked.

"Arkham Asylum," Deadeye revealed.

As soon as he mentioned it, Ghost's mind froze in shock. After years of asking, the chief of the Division finally agreed to permit the destruction of Arkham and the execution of its inmates.

"Are you serious?" Ghost asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, we're gonna blow up Arkham," Deadeye confirmed.

"Finally. Those scum backs have escaped justice long enough," Ghost said.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's roll," Deadeye said.

Ghost nodded before they entered the car and started driving to Arkham Asylum.

Later at Arkham Asylum

Arkham Asylum, the so-called heart of darkness of Gotham City where its worst criminals and supervillains were being kept, including the most notorious criminal called "the Joker" who was one of Batman's sworn arch enemies.

Arkham was one of the most secure facilities in the world with the latest security system and technology. But despite these advantages, Arkham did have some weaknesses that could be used to escape from the asylum or infiltrate it.

Even though Arkham was a secured facility, villains did often escape to terrorize Gotham but they were always brought back by Batman or the Justice League. Sadly for the people of Gotham, it was a never-ending cycle that each time required the blood of the innocents. But tonight, the cycle would finally come to an end but not by the actions of the Justice League, but by the actions of the Division.

Once they arrived at the outer gates of Arkham, Jake hacked into the asylum's security system and opened the gate. Next, they parked the car in the parking lot after Jake turned off the security cameras.

"Isn't shutting down the cameras gonna alert the guards?" Jason asked.

"They're currently more focused on keeping the villains locked up. Besides, I think most of the guards are busy fucking the brain-dead inmates," Jake explained.

"Which should make our job easier," Jason said.

"Still, guards aren't the only problem. There are also dozens of heavily armed SWAT officers in the asylum," Jake added.

"I know. That's why we brought whatever firepower we need to deal with them. And we're also better-trained fighters than those no-good cops," Jason said.

"Yeah, but they're not the biggest problem. Before we level this place, we must eliminate several supervillains and meta-humans to make sure they won't survive," Jake explained.

"Which is why we brought a few special weapons with us for that purpose," Jason said.

"Yeah, yeah. I know we planned this from detail to detail but something could still go wrong," Jake said in concern.

Jason knew that Jake had a point. The plan they formulated was good but there was still a risk of it failing. And if they fail, the Division would be compromised and Justice League would shut them down. But for the sake of the world and its people, they had to do this.

"Look, I know this is risky. But who else is going to do it if not us?" Jason asked.

"Maybe the Justice League," Jake said sarcastically.

"The Justice League has failed us. They won't do what needs to be done and villains have always taken advantage of their compassion," Jason said.

"But I think we normal folks should handle executing the supervillains. Because I think if the superheroes do it, they would take it too far and end up becoming tyrants," Jake pointed out.

"You're right about that one, bro," Jason agreed.

They stayed quiet for a minute until they decided to start the mission.

"So, you ready for this, Ghost?" Jake asked.

"You know I'm always ready, Deadeye," Jason replied.

After that, they got out of the car, grabbed their bags, and started walking to Arkham. When they were at the entrance, Ghost put on a black coat to conceal his weapons.

Once they made it inside the asylum, Ghost went first with the bags to the security checkpoint. First, he put the bags through the checkpoint, then he walked through it himself. But as soon as he did it, the metal detector started beeping which made one of the lazy guards walk toward Jason.

"Would you please remove any metallic items you're carrying? Keys, loose change..."

The guard couldn't finish when Ghost took off his coat and showed the guard several guns he had on him. This of course shocked the guard who couldn't believe his eyes.

"Holy shit!" The guard said in disbelief.

Then Ghost punched him hard in the face and the guard fell unconscious to the floor. Before the rest of the guards could react, Ghost drew his Steyr TMP machine pistols and opened fire at the guards. He managed to kill most of the guards but one of them jumped behind the pillar to use it as cover.

When Ghost stopped shooting, the remaining guard grabbed his radio and called for backup.

"Backup. Send backup!" The guard said as he drew his revolver.

But before he could say anything else to the radio, Deadeye stepped through the metal detector and killed the guard with his Glock 18 machine pistol (3rd Generation version with a 19-round magazine).

With the guards eliminated, Ghost and Deadeye threw away their empty guns. Then Deadeye grabbed their bags and Ghost took his SIG-Sauer P226 pistols from his holsters and pulled the hammers.

But before the agents could go any further, dozens of SWAT officers (the ones that appeared in the movie Batman: Year One) armed with M16A1 assault rifles (with A2 handguards and 30-round magazines) and Ithaca 37 shotguns (Riot Versions) stormed into the checkpoint.

When the SWAT officers took their positions and aimed their guns at the agents, their team leader was the first one to speak.

"Freeze!" The leader with mustaches yelled.

Ghost and Deadeye just stood there in front of the armed cops saying nothing which only made the SWAT leader angrier.

"Drop your weapons and get on your knees or you're dead!" The leader yelled again.

The Division agents still didn't say anything which was the last straw.

"That's it! You're dead!" The leader yelled in anger.

Before the SWAT officers could react, Ghost fired his pistols at them and Deadeye took cover behind the pillar. Once Ghost stopped shooting, he started running to the nearest pillar. But before the SWAT officers could open fire at him, Deadeye pulled out his Ruger MP9 submachine gun (with folded stock) and gave Ghost cover fire.

Once Ghost made it behind the pillar, Deadeye stopped shooting and as a result, the SWAT officers finally fired their weapons at the two Division agents. Luckily, both Ghost and Deadeye managed to take cover behind the pillars but they were now pinned down by the gunfire.

"They got us pinned down!" Deadeye said.

"We can't let them stop us! We must get past them," Ghost said.

"Fireworks?" Deadeye asked with a code word.

"No, blind eye," Ghost said.

Deadeye nodded before he grabbed a few flashbangs from his vest. Then Ghost threw away his empty pistols and grabbed his MP5K submachine guns (with Navy trigger groups and 30-round magazines) from his back.

When Ghost gave him the signal, Deadeye pulled out the pins and threw the flashbangs at the SWAT officers. When the flashbangs detonated, the SWAT officers became temporarily blinded which was enough for the Division agents to act.

With the SWAT officers stunned, Ghost then charged at them and opened fire while Deadeye did the same. They managed to kill a few of them before the effects of the flashbangs wore off and SWAT officers started shooting again forcing the agents to take cover behind the pillars again.

As a response to this, Deadeye threw his now empty submachine gun at one of the SWAT officers in the head stunning him for a moment. Then he kicked the shotgun out of the SWAT officer's hands, grabbed it, and shot the officer right into his gut. Then Deadeye fired the captured shotgun at other SWAT officers who were busy dealing with Ghost a moment ago.

Now that Deadeye got the officers' attention, Ghost used the opportunity and advanced again. When he was behind the corner, Ghost threw away the empty submachine guns and pulled out his Beretta M9 pistols from the holsters.

"Ok, these are my last guns. Better make them count," Ghost thought.

After that, he jumped out of cover and opened fire at the remaining SWAT officers who were busy dealing with Deadeye. Ghost managed to kill half of the remaining SWAT officers before they turned their attention to him. Now that there weren't many officers left and they were cornered, Ghost and Deadeye shot at the officers from both sides and kept shooting until only one was left.

Ghost took the honor by throwing the empty pistols away and then jumping and then kicking the SWAT officer in the head so hard that it broke his neck. With the last officer down, Ghost and Deadeye looked at the mess they made.

"Whoa, that's quite the mess," Ghost said.

"Uh-huh. But you made most of it," Deadeye said sarcastically.

"Why is it always me that makes most of the mess?" Ghost asked.

"Because you always carry too many guns," Deadeye joked.

"Oh yeah? I think you made at least half of the mess with that shotgun," Ghost joked back.

The agents laughed at their silly jokes for a second before they went back to business. After Ghost and Deadeye killed all the SWAT officers and guards at the security checkpoint, they grabbed their bags and proceeded to the elevator.

Once they were in the elevator, Ghost pressed the button and the elevator started taking them down to the underground level where the most dangerous inmates were being kept. While they were going down, Deadeye opened his bag to check on the bomb they brought with them.

"Is the bomb intact?" Ghost asked.

"Yeah, it's still in one piece" Deadeye replied.

"Good, we still have a lot of floors to go down," Ghost said.

After that, he opened his bag and started checking out their remaining weapons before they could put them to use. When they were halfway down, Deadeye decided to tell his concerns one more time.

"You know, it won't be long before the Justice League figures out that the distress calls we sent were fake. And when they do, they'll find out that we're here," Deadeye said.

"I know. That's why we must get this done quickly and get a hell out of here before Batman and his friends show up," Ghost said.

"Yeah. But there are still many armed SWAT officers and guards down the underground level," Deadeye said.

"We can handle them just like we handled the ones on the surface," Ghost said.

"And what about the supervillains?" Deadeye asked.

"The bomb will kill most of them. But before we detonate it, we must kill the impervious villains first," Ghost said.

Then he put the opened bag between them to show what was inside. Inside the bag were four B&T MP9 machine pistols, two katana swords, and some shurikens and incendiary grenades (the ones that Alice and her clones used in Resident Evil: Afterlife) along with a few special weapons designed to kill metahumans and supervillains.

"Wow, you must have done some shopping," Deadeye said smirking behind his mask.

"You could say that," Ghost replied.

"Cool, I just hope these will be enough to get the job done," Deadeye said pointing at the weapons.

"Yeah, me too. But first, let's clear out the floor," Ghost said.

"Sure, lock and load," Deadeye agreed.

While the agents were getting ready for another firefight, the guards and SWAT officers in the underground level were getting ready for the agents' arrival.

"Hurry! Put those riot shields in place," one of the SWAT officers ordered.

"We're doing it as fast as we can," one of the guards said.

"Well hurry up! The intruders are almost here!" The SWAT officer yelled.

The guard just nodded before helping others to set up the riot shields. Once the shields were up and set, the remaining guards and SWAT officers went behind them and aimed their guns at the elevator doors.

As the elevator was slowly coming down, some of the guards and officers could feel sweat dripping down from their skin as a sign of fear since they didn't know what was gonna come from the elevator when it gets down. A few minutes later, the elevator finally came down to the underground level.

But to the SWAT officers' and guards' surprise when the elevator doors opened, there was no one inside except two bags on the floor. But before they could send someone to check the elevator, Ghost and Deadeye turned off their cloaking devices and appeared right behind the SWAT officers and guards.

"Hey, guys," both Ghost and Deadeye said.

But when the SWAT officers and guards turned to them, Deadeye threw several shurikens at them killing some of the officers and guards while Ghost charged at them with the katana swords in his hands.

When he was close enough, Ghost jumped and cut the heads off of the two SWAT officers. Then he stabbed two guards and pulled the swords out of their chests before he cut the heads off of two other SWAT officers.

The officers reacted by opening fire at them but Ghost and Deadeye were able to jump into cover in time. The agents then returned the favor by drawing their machine pistols and returning fire. They successfully killed about half of the guards and SWAT officers before they raised their riot shields to block the gunfire. Then they drew their police revolvers and started shooting forcing the agents to take cover again.

"Can we do the fireworks now?" Deadeye asked.

"Hell yeah," Ghost said.

Both agents smirked before they took the incendiary grenades from their vests. Then they pulled the pins and threw the grenades behind the SWAT officers and guards. And when the grenades detonated, the officers and guards were set on fire.

As the remaining SWAT officers and guards were burning, two of them were able to get away from the blast but barely.

"We must call for backup," one of the guards said.

"But our radios are down and those bastards have killed everyone except us two."

"But we can still stop them."

"Forget about stopping them! I'm gonna get out of here."

But before the guard who started running could get to the elevator, Deadeye jumped in front of him and delivered quick jabs and punches in all of the guard's pressure points.

"Aaargh!" The guard yelled.

"Hey! What the-"

Another guard couldn't finish when Ghost turned him around and did the same as Deadeye did. As a result, both guards were paralyzed and fell to the floor, alive and aware of what was happening but they couldn't move their bodies.

"What the hell did you just do to us?" One of the guards asked weakly.

"It's called chi-blocking. It's an ancient fighting technique that can paralyze opponents by quickly hitting and jabbing their bodies' pressure points," Ghost explained.

"And don't worry, guys. The effects of chi-blocking are temporary, it depends on the subject but you should be back on your feet in an hour or two," Deadeye added.

After that, the agents hit the guards again and knocked them out. Once all SWAT officers and guards were down, Ghost and Deadeye proceeded with their mission and went back to the elevator to grab their bags. Ghost took the bag that contained the special weapons and Deadeye took the one that had a bomb in it.

But first, the Division agents had to make sure that all of their targets were there so they went to the nearest computer to check it out. Once Deadeye opened his wrist computer and connected to the asylum's computer, he hacked into the security system. Once that was done, he started checking the cells where the inmates were being held.

"Well?" Ghost asked.

"They're all here. No one has escaped from here before we arrived," Deadeye replied.

"Good. Can you show me where the criminals such as Clayface and Killer Croc are?" Ghost asked.

"Just a sec," Deadeye said.

He made a quick sweep of the list of inmates until he found the metahuman prisoners.

"Ok, I've downloaded the locations and security codes into your wrist computer," Deadeye said.

"Thanks. While I take care of the inmates, you set up the bomb," Ghost said.

Deadeye nodded before he went to set up the bomb and Ghost went to kill the most dangerous inmates. Once he was in front of Clayface's cell, Ghost opened his bag and pulled out a laser rifle (from Fallout 4).

But before he was going to open the cell door, he activated the scanner in his glasses and the left lens started to glow blue (like in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier). While scanning the cell, Ghost could see that Clayface was indeed inside but surprisingly he was in his human form and not hidden on the walls as usual.

After he scanned the room, Ghost turned off the scanner and put the security code on the keyboard. Once the cell door was open, Clayface turned to his mysterious visitor.

"Huh, I don't get many visitors these days. Here to bust me out?" Clayface asked.

"No," Ghost replied.

Then he quickly aimed his laser rifle at Clayface and pulled the trigger. The laser beam hit Clayface and pushed him to the wall, this also made Clayface reveal his true form.

"Aaargh!" Clayface screamed in agony.

But when he was about to attack, he felt something and even smelled it. He looked down at his stomach and saw the clay being burned by the laser blast.

"What have you done to me?!" Clayface asked.

"I tested the new weapon on you and it looks like it works," Ghost said.

Then he fired again and the beam hit Clayface's shoulder this time. Then Ghost shot at Clayface's both legs making him fall to the floor. Because of the burns and tremendous pain, Clayface couldn't shape-shift himself or use clay to heal the burns that were cracking his clay.

After Ghost reloaded his laser rifle, he then aimed it at Clayface and prepared to give him a full blast.

"You should know, once I give you a full blast from this weapon, you'll turn to ashes," Ghost told.

"No, please. Don't kill me, I wanna live," Clayface begged for his life.

"What about the innocent people you killed, did you show them mercy when they begged for their lives?" Ghost asked coldly.

"No! This is wrong. You can't just kill me," Clayface said.

"Criminals are being executed in some countries even today. I'm just giving you what you deserve," Ghost said as he put his finger on the trigger.

"No, please, I aaargh!"

As soon as Ghost pulled the trigger, a full blast from the laser rifle hit Clayface in his chest. And as Ghost said, the beam turned Clayface to ashes, killing him for good.

"No coming back this time, asshole," Ghost said while looking at what was left of Clayface.

After he killed Clayface, Ghost then proceeded to another target on his list. Now Ghost was standing in front of the cell where Killer Croc was being held but he needed another weapon to kill Croc. So he grabbed gun parts from the bag and assembled a GM6 Lynx sniper rifle and put a silencer on top of the barrel.

Now that he had a gun for the job, Ghost then opened the cell door where Killer Croc was currently sleeping. When his cell door opened, Killer Croc turned to see who opened it but to his surprise, he didn't see anyone at the cell door.

"Hmm, that's odd," Killer Croc thought.

But suddenly his sense of smell alerted him. Even though he couldn't see anyone at the door, he could smell someone standing there.

"What? Is the guy at the door invisible or what?" Killer Croc wondered.

But before he could find out for sure, a powerful bullet went right through his stomach. And because of the pressure from the bullet, Killer Croc was ripped in half. But even with what just happened to him, Killer Croc was still alive but barely.

After he fired the bullet, Ghost turned off his active camouflage and made himself visible again. As life was fading away from Killer Croc, he looked at Ghost and asked one question before dying.

"Who... Who are you?" Killer Croc asked weakly.

"I am Ghost," Ghost answered.

After that, he aimed his rifle at Killer Croc's head. Then he pulled the trigger and blew Killer Croc's head off. The time seemed to slow down until an empty gun shell fell to the floor.

"Good thing that 50 Cal bullets worked," Ghost thought.

In the next cell was a brutal, bloodthirsty, and man-eating King Shark, the sort of shark man who kills and eats people. Because of his shark-like nature, some people couldn't understand why Amanda Waller even recruited him to the Suicide Squad.

"Meat, I want meat," King Shark muttered.

A second later, the door in his cell was opened from the outside. At first, King Shark thought that it was just the guards but when he looked at the door, he didn't see anyone.

"Huh? Anyone there?" King Shark asked.

But as he got up, King Shark smelled something, something he haven't smelled in a long time, it was the smell of fresh blood. As soon as he smelled blood, King Shark's eyes turned black.

"Blood! Blood means meat!" King Shark yelled.

Then he ran out of his cell, following the smell of blood. But when he was outside, someone yelled at him from behind.

"Hey, ugly!"

King Shark turned to the source of the voice who was none other than Ghost who was aiming a Binary Rifle (from Halo 4) he assembled at the humanoid shark.

"Was it you who let me out?" King Shark asked.

"Yep, that was me," Ghost confirmed.

"Why? To bust me out?" King Shark asked.

"No, I'm here to kill you," Ghost said coldly.

"Oh yeah? Well, good luck with that. Others have tried before you and I ate them," King Shark said.

"I know, I read the files. But I can kill you with this gun," Ghost said.

"That gun won't do you any good. The bullets will just bounce off my tough skin," King Shark said with a smirk.

"A little problem with that, freak. This gun doesn't fire bullets," Ghost said.

This made King Shark a little scared but he didn't show it.

"What... What are you talking about?" King Shark asked.

"This is a Binary Rifle. It fires ionized particles with unparalleled stopping power that disintegrates targets on impact," Ghost explained.

"No! You can't be serious," King Shark said in disbelief.

"I'm as serious as I can be. I'm going to put an end to your reign of terror once and for all," Ghost said.

King Shark couldn't take it anymore so he showed his shark teeth and charged at Ghost with the intent to bite his head off but that was exactly what Ghost was counting on.

Once King Shark was at a good distance, Ghost pulled the trigger and fired his Binary Rifle. And with high speed, the round hit King Shark's stomach. And as soon as this happened, King Shark's body began to disintegrate just as Ghost said it would.

King Shark watched in horror as his body was turned into orange glowing particles (like in Halo 4). He tried to say something but he couldn't, he could only watch as his body was fading away. A few seconds later, King Shark was reduced to atoms. Now that he killed the metahuman villains, Ghost returned to Deadeye who was already setting up the bomb.

"How are we doing?" Ghost asked.

"We're almost ready. Now I just have to set the timer," Deadeye replied.

"Are you sure that this one bomb is enough to blow up the whole Arkham?" Ghost asked.

"Don't worry, bro. There's enough TNT in this thing to level the whole place," Deadeye assured.

They were suddenly interrupted when they heard a certain inmate speaking to them.

"Well, ain't this a surprise! And I thought that I loved fireworks."

The agents quickly turned to the source of the voice. And to their shock, it was the most notorious criminal of Gotham the Joker with Harley Quinn right next to him.

Meanwhile with Batman and Superman

When they received many different emergency calls from several cities, the Justice League immediately answered and went to investigate. When Batman and Superman arrived in Metropolis, they went to the location where someone reported a fire.

When they got there, they could see the fire department checking the building where the fire was reported but to their surprise, no fire or any smoke was coming from the building. To get some answers, Superman flew to one of the firefighters.

"Do you know what is happening here?" Superman asked.

"We don't know. We were told that there was a fire here. It must be a false alarm," the firefighter said.

This made Superman wonder what was going on and Batman narrowed his eyes as he suspected that something was up.

"Why would someone report a fire if there was no fire?" Superman asked.

"Perhaps someone faked the report," Batman theorized.

"But to what purpose?" Superman asked.

"Perhaps to lure us away from something or someone," Batman replied.

But before Superman could ask further what Batman meant, they were contacted by other members of the league via their communicators.

"Superman here," Superman answered the call.

"Hi, it's Flash. J'onn, GL, and I just made it to Jump City. Turns out that there is no fire," Flash said.

"I see. Batman and I have the same problem here in Metropolis," Superman said.

"It's the same here in Detroit. Something's not right. It's like someone made up the emergency calls. What could anyone gain by calling us to different cities?" Hawkgirl asked.

Batman was about to answer but then he received a call from Alfred.

"What is it, Alfred?" Batman asked.

"Sir, someone has breached the security of Arkham," Alfred told.

"Any idea who they are and what their motive is?" Batman asked.

"Unknown, sir. But whoever breached the security and broke into Arkham is still there," Alfred replied.

"Understood, we're on our way," Batman said.

Then he turned off his communicator and turned to Superman.

"What is it?" Superman asked.

"Someone has broken into Arkham," Batman replied.

"What?! Who? Why?" Superman asked in shock.

"I don't know. But it confirms that the emergency calls were meant to lure us away from Gotham so the culprit could get into Arkham without our interference," Batman explained.

"So what do we do?" Wonder Woman asked.

"We must get to Arkham and find out what's going on in there," Green Lantern suggested.

"Agreed, let's go," Superman agreed.

Then they started heading towards Arkham Asylum to find out what was happening there.

Meanwhile in Arkham

"That's a nice bomb you got there. Any chance you have another one?" The Joker asked the agents.

"I want one like that for my birthday," Harley added in excitement.

Ghost and Deadeye just looked at each other for a second before turning their attention back to the clown criminals.

"How did you get out of your cells?" Ghost asked.

"Oh, it was quite simple really. I just yoinked the key from one of the dead guards," the Joker said.

"I had a spare key in my pillow," Harley added.

"Yes! I have to admit, you two made a nice mess in here. I wish I could have seen it," the Joker said referring to the guards and SWAT officers the agents killed.

"Not surprising since you love bloodshed," Deadeye commented.

"Now that's a smart boy," the Joker said.

"What do you want, Joker?" Ghost asked.

"Oh, nothing more than to get out of here and have some fun!" The Joker exclaimed.

"Sorry to ruin your fun but that's not gonna happen," Deadeye said.

"Oh, and why is that?" The Joker asked.

"Because you two won't walk out of this place alive," Ghost replied.

The Joker had to admit that he didn't expect that from the two agents in front of him but he was always up for a challenge. Harley on the other hand was starting to get scared of the Division agents who were planning to kill her and the Joker.

"Puddin, they scare me," Harley said in fear.

"Awe, there's nothing to be afraid of, Harley. We'll just wash out this dirt and move along," the Joker said.

While Harley was keeping the Joker's attention on her, Ghost told Deadeye with a hand signal to activate the bomb. Deadeye simply nodded before he set the timer for ten minutes and then activated the bomb. But sadly for the agents, it didn't go unnoticed by the Joker.

"Ah, so that's what you two are here for. You're going blow up Arkham are you?" The Joker asked.

"And I thought Batman was a detective," Deadeye commented.

"I have to admit, I didn't see this coming. But I think the rest of the inmates should also see this," the Joker said.

Then he pressed the button on the wall which opened up the small hatches on every cell door which made the criminals inside the cells see what was going on. As Ghost and Deadeye looked at the hatches, they could see many inmates looking at the scene. Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Penguin, Bane, Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, Man-Bat, and all of Batman's enemies were watching the situation.

"Hey! What is going on here?" Two-Face asked.

"Yes, my babies can't sleep with all this racket," Poison Ivy agreed.

"Glad you asked. Ladies and gentlemen, we're having a bit serious situation here. You see, these two soldier boys want to blow us all to smithereens!" The Joker exclaimed in an insane matter.

As soon as the insane clown mentioned the agents' intention, all the inmates had looks of shock, fear, and disbelief on theid faces. Never in their lives would they have believed that two people would break into Arkham and kill dozens of guards just to get rid of them for good. It was just hard to believe that someone would go through so much trouble just to kill them all.

"What?! You can't be serious!" Two-Face yelled.

"It can't be true," Poison Ivy said in disbelief.

"You'll have to let us out before those two kill us all!" Penguin yelled in panic.

"I could but I think I'll pass," the Joker said.

"What?! Why?!" All the inmates asked.

"Because once I return to Gotham after a little vacation, I will have zero competition, hahaha!" The Joker said as he laughed.

The inmates couldn't believe what the clown just said. He was willing to let them die so he could have Gotham City all for himself without sharing it with other villains.

"No! You can't do this! You can't just leave us to die!" Two-Face yelled.

"Sure I can. It's more fun than letting you out of your cells to ruin my fun," the Joker said.

"You won't get away with this!" Poison Ivy yelled.

"Oh, but I already have!" The Joker said.

Then he pulled out a remote from his jacket and pressed the button. As a result, the tubes on the ceiling began to release sleeping gas. The inmates gasped in shock before the gas put them to sleep in their cells.

Before the gas reached the lower level, the Division agents quickly took off their caps and glasses and put on their MCU-2/P gas masks while the Joker and Harley put on the clown-like gas masks.

Since the gas was covering the whole level like a fog, the agents activated the scan vision on their masks' lenses to locate the Joker and Harley. But to their horror, the Joker and Harley were already in the elevator.

"So long, losers! Hahaha!" The Joker laughed.

Then he pressed the button and the elevator was going up.

"Damn it! We must go after him," Ghost said.

"But how? That's the only elevator up," Deadeye asked.

"We'll figure out something," Ghost said.

Deadeye just nodded before he ran to the controls and used the ventilation to clear up the gas. Once the gas was gone, the agents took off their gas masks and put their caps and glasses back on.

"What's the status of the inmates?" Ghost asked.

"The gas knocked them all out. They won't wake up at least for two hours," Deadeye answered.

"So the bomb will kill them before they even have a chance to wake up," Ghost assumed.

"Sadly for them, yes," Deadeye confirmed.

Once they made sure that the bomb was intact, they called down the elevator which surprisingly wasn't booby-trapped by the Joker.

Luckily, the elevator still functioned, so Ghost and Deadeye went in and headed to the surface while the inmates remained asleep and trapped in the underground level with the bomb.

As they were heading up, Deadeye could see Ghost tightening his fists which was a clear sign that he wanted to kill the Joker badly.

"I know this may be the wrong time to ask but are you sure you're up to this?" Deadeye asked.

"Yes, I just don't want those two psychopaths to slip away on our watch," Ghost replied.

"But we still need to keep a cool head. We can't afford to get distracted," Deadeye said.

"I know. But don't worry, I'm fine," Ghost assured.

Deadeye simply nodded before refocusing his attention on the task at hand. Once they made it to the surface, Ghost and Deadeye drew their Beretta M9 pistols before exiting the elevator. But as soon as they were out, they saw a small bomb at the security checkpoint.

"Bomb!" Deadeye yelled.

"Take cover!" Ghost ordered.

Both agents quickly jumped into cover before the bomb exploded destroying the checkpoint. When the smoke cleared, Ghost and Deadeye got up and saw a hole on the floor made by the bomb.

But to their shock, they saw a clown-like helicopter hovering above Arkham with the Joker and Harley onboard.

"See you later! Hahaha!" the Joker said while laughing.

Then the clown helicopter began to fly away from Arkham. Ghost quickly grabbed his pistol from the floor and fired several shots at the helicopter but it was already out of range.

"Damn it!" Ghost cursed as the clown criminals were getting away.

"We have only five minutes left. We must leave now!" Deadeye said.

"*sighs* alright. Let's get out of here," Ghost said.

But when they were about to leave, something unwelcome but expected happened. Right in front of the Division agents stood no one else than the Justice League who had not very happy looks on their faces.

"Uh, hello," Deadeye greeted.

"Who are you? Why are you here? And what do you think you're doing?" Batman asked.

"I don't see how that's any of your business," Ghost said.

Batman simply narrowed his eyes before he turned to the Martian Manhunter.

"J'onn?" Batman asked.

Knowing what the Dark Knight was asking, J'onn's eyes started to glow as he tried to find out the agents' intentions with his telepathic abilities. But to the Martian's surprise, he couldn't read either Ghost's or Deadeye's mind.

"I can't read their minds," J'onn said to his teammates' shock and surprise.

"What?! Why you can't read their minds?" Green Lantern asked in disbelief.

"I'm not sure. They must have something to mask their thoughts," J'onn theorized.

"We don't have time for this! We must take these guys to the Watch Tower and question them there," Hawkgirl said.

The other members of the league couldn't argue with that so they nodded in agreement. But when the Justice League was about to apprehend the Division agents, they started to hear what sounded like a jet of some kind. Shortly after, a flying vehicle Ghost and Deadeye recognized as the Quinjet (from The Avengers live-action movie series) appeared above Arkham when the pilot deactivated the cloak.

"Good, our ride is here," Deadeye said.

"You two aren't going anywhere! You're coming with us," Green Lantern said threateningly.

"You can try to apprehend us but then you won't be able to stop the bomb," Ghost revealed.

The sudden revelation took the league by surprise because the agents didn't mention anything about the bomb during their conversation.

"Huh? Bomb? What bomb?" Flash asked.

"The one we left in the underground level where the inmates are. It's big enough to blow up this hellhole," Ghost said.

"Is that why you broke in here? To murder everyone in Arkham?" Batman asked.

"I wouldn't call it murder, more like an execution," Deadeye corrected.

"You have no right to do this! If you kill these men and women, you're no better than them," Diana said.

"We do what we must to protect the innocents. We can't allow our misguided mercy and foolish morality to blind us from the truth," Ghost said.

"Oh yeah? And what is the truth?" Hawkgirl asked.

"That these scums always take an advantage of our rules and moral code. You stop them and lock them up until they break out to terrorize the world again," Ghost explained.

"What's your point?" Superman asked.

"That not everyone deserves a second chance or redemption. Some bad people deserve to die, especially the Joker," Ghost said.

"It's not that simple," Batman reasoned.

"Maybe not for you but it is that simple for us," Deadeye argued.

"Murdering these criminals is still not an option," Batman argued back.

"Oh yeah? Let me ask you something. How many people would still be alive today if you would have killed the Joker and all other villains who have murdered innocents?" Ghost asked.

"Enough! We will stop you here and now!" Green Lantern yelled.

"Really? From the way I see it, you have two choices. Arrest us and Arkham blows up killing every single villain in here or let us go and you might be able to defuse the bomb before it explodes," Ghost said.

The members of the league looked at each other and started thinking of what they should do. They knew that if they let the agents go, they'll never find out who they are working for and what their agenda is.

But they couldn't just let the inmates die no matter what they have done in the past so the Justice League was kind of considering letting the agents go but it would still be a heavy price to pay.

But before the league could give their answer, the Division agents took the opportunity and threw a couple of flashbangs at the Justice League. When the flashbangs detonated, they blinded the league temporarily which was enough for Ghost and Deadeye to escape.

They quickly gave the signal and the pilot lowered the Quinjet near the agents while opening the door. Once both agents were on board, the pilot began to fly them away from Arkham.

When the Justice League regained its sights, they quickly noticed that the agents were getting away. Hawkgirl and Green Lantern were about to go after them but Superman stopped them.

"Let them go," Superman said.

"Are you kidding?! We can't let those murderers escape," Hawkgirl argued.

"We have a much bigger problem, like stopping that bomb from detonating," Superman said.

"They could have lied about the bomb," Green Lantern said.

"No, I don't think they lied about that," J'onn disagreed.

"I agree with J'onn. Those two sounded highly confident," Batman agreed.

"But how do we know that the bomb is where they said it would be?" Wonder Woman asked.

Superman made a quick sweep of the asylum with his x-ray vision and located the bomb in the underground level where the agents said it would be.

"I located the bomb. We must hurry!" Superman said.

The Justice League made a quick run through the elevator shaft to the underground level where the bomb was. But to their surprise when they got there, they noticed that the inmates were sleeping which according to Batman, was a result of the sleeping gas.

While Superman and others were keeping an eye on the sleeping inmates in their cells, Batman and Green Lantern were trying to defuse the bomb but GL wasn't sure if they could do it in time. Somehow Hawkgirl could see the doubt in Green Lantern and tried to throw in ideas to get rid of the bomb.

"Why not put a force field around the bomb and let it blow?" Hawkgirl asked.

"The explosion would be too massive for me to contain. The only sure way to prevent it is to disarm the bomb," Green Lantern said.

"Then why don't you just cut the wires?" Hawkgirl asked.

"There are too many wires. Some of them are decoys, some are booby-trapped. If we cut the wrong wire, the bomb will explode," Batman explained.

"There must be something we can do!" Hawkgirl yelled.

"Just shut up and let us do our job!" Green Lantern yelled back.

But when Batman was about to cut what he thought would be the right wire, the bomb's timer suddenly went right to zero before the time was up. As a result, the bomb exploded sooner than it should have. When the bomb detonated, Arkham Asylum was utterly destroyed and all of its inmates were killed.

In the distance where the Quinjet was flying, Ghost was holding a detonator in his hand. Since the Justice League could have disarmed the bomb in time, Ghost figured that it was better to detonate it before the time ran out.

"Didn't want to let the timer run out huh?" Deadeye commented.

"Couldn't have risked them disarming the bomb before time ran out," Ghost replied.

"But what about the Justice League?" Deadeye asked.

"Don't worry, they're alright. It takes more than that to get rid of the Justice League," Ghost assured.

While the agents were flying away from Gotham to wherever they were going, the Justice League did survive the explosion as Ghost said. Before the bomb detonated, Green Lantern used his ring to put a force field around him and the rest of the league which saved their lives but it was a close call.

After Superman and Lantern cleared up the bricks, the league got out of the rubble that was once Arkham Asylum. Superman and J'onn checked if there were any survivors but sadly, there were none.

Later in the Watch Tower

Shortly after Arkham Asylum was destroyed and most of its inmates killed, the league decided to call up a meeting in the Watch Tower. Once all members of the Justice League had gathered in the meeting room, Batman began the discussion regarding what happened in Arkham.

"This is problematic," J'onn said.

"Yeah, no kidding," Flash agreed.

"How many died in the explosion?" Superman asked.

"If you count the security, about 200," Batman answered.

"But was there anyone who survived the explosion?" Diana asked.

"According to the camera feeds, the Joker and Harley Quinn escaped from Arkham before it was destroyed," Batman said.

"We'll get them later. Right now, we need to focus on the men who destroyed Arkham and stop them," Superman said.

Everyone nodded in agreement before continuing the conversation.

"Do we have any leads?" Superman asked.

"No. Whoever those two men were, they knew how to cover their tracks," Batman said.

"There also isn't anything about them in the police records. Whoever they are, they don't officially exist," J'onn said.

"This brings up the question. Are there more of them out there?" Batman pointed out.

"If there are, we must be ready for anything," Superman said.

"I'm so looking forward to the rematch," Green Lantern said as his ring glowed.

"I agree with John. We must crush them when they show up again," Hawkgirl agreed.

"No, we must keep cool heads. We can't afford to let our grudges get the better of us," Diana reminded.

"Diana is right. Whoever these people are, they know what they're doing," Batman agreed.

Meanwhile in Alaska

After a few hours of flying, the Quinjet arrived in Alaska. As they were flying over the snowy forests and icy mountains of Alaska, Jason was a bit down about what happened in Arkham. It didn't go unnoticed by Jake who guessed that his friend's current state of mind was because of their being unable to prevent the Joker and Harley from escaping.

But the black-haired young man couldn't just leave his brown-haired friend like this so he decided to try to make him feel better by talking to him.

"You okay, bro?" Jake asked.

"No, not really. Our mission was to kill the villains and we let the worst of them get away," Jason said.

"We did our best. We couldn't have known that the Joker had an escape chopper on the surface," Jake said.

"But it's our job to know every detail of the mission. If not, then how can we protect the innocents?" Jason asked.

"I know it stinks. But we destroyed Arkham and killed most of Gotham's most dangerous criminals. Our mission was a success, well, mostly a success," Jake said.

Jason knew that his friend was right and that they did save a lot of lives by killing the criminals who terrorized them for years. He just wished that they could have done more by killing the Joker and Harley.

"You're right, I get your point. I just wish we could have put an end to the Joker's reign of terror on this mission," Jason admitted.

"Don't worry, bro. We will catch the Joker and Harley sooner or later, then we'll blow their heads off," Jake comforted.

"Thanks, bro. I appreciate it," Jason said.

Their conversation was cut short when the pilot informed them about their approach.

"Sirs, we're almost at the base," the pilot said.

"Good. Send them our access codes and tell them to inform the commander about our arrival," Jason told.

"Yes, sir," the pilot replied.

As they were approaching the hidden base, the pilot transmitted the access codes that informed the base's tower of them being a friendly aircraft. When they were above the base, the hidden doors opened revealing a landing platform. Once the Quinjet landed on the platform, it began to go down underground while the doors above them closed.

Once they were down, Jason and Jake exited their vehicle. But when they were about to head to the elevator, a dark blue orb-like hologram appeared in front of them. This was "Blue Queen", the artificial intelligence the Division created to help them in anything that involves hacking, data processing, anything that involves computers, and anything digital.

"Welcome back Agents Connor and O'Neill," Blue Queen greeted with a feminine voice.

"Hi, Blue Queen. It's good to be back," Jason said.

"It's also good to see you as well," Jake said with a smile.

"Thank you, Agent O'Neill," Blue Queen said rather sweetly.

"So, anything we should know about?" Jason asked.

"Yes, Agent Connor. Director Sumner wants to see you both in his office," Blue Queen told.

"Thanks, Blue Queen. We'll head there immediately," Jason said.

With that said, the Blue Queen disappeared and the Division agents headed to the elevator. Once they were in the elevator, Jason pressed the button and took them to the level where the director's office was.

It wasn't long until they arrived at the director's office where the guards opened the door and let the agents into the office. When they were inside the office, Jason and Jake were greeted by a man named John Sumner, the Director of the Division who was wearing a black tuxedo with the Division's symbol pin on it.

"Greetings, Agents Connor and O'Neill. Good to have you both back in one piece," Sumner said.

"Thank you, sir. It's good to be back," Jason said.

"I take it that the mission was a success," Sumner assumed.

"Well... Mostly, sir," Jake said feeling a little awkward.

"What? Explain," Sumner requested.

After Jason and Jake told the director everything that happened in Arkham, Sumner remained quiet in his chair. He was a little disappointed that the Joker and Harley got away but they would hunt them down later, at least Arkham was destroyed and most of Gotham's villains were killed.

But there was also another big problem, the Justice League. Because of Jason and Jake's encounter with Superman and other heroes, the secrecy of the Division was now at risk. If the Justice League finds out about them, they would certainly attempt to shut the Division down.

But technically it would be impossible because the Division is secretly supported by the United States government along with a few other governments. So at least politically the Division is untouchable.

Still, they had to be more careful when dealing with the Justice League. The last thing they needed was Superman and other heroes knocking on their door.

"So, any suggestions on how we should proceed?" Sumner asked his best agents for advice.

"I think there's no need for an alert yet, sir. The league may be suspicious now but they don't know about us yet," Jason said.

"Are you sure that you didn't leave any traces behind in Arkham?" Sumner asked.

"Yes, sir. We were careful," Jason confirmed.

"But I think we should keep a low profile until the smoke clears," Jake suggested.

"Very well. I'll contact my superiors and tell them the news. Dismissed," Sumner said.

Both Jason and Jake saluted before leaving the director's office. Once they were out, Jake told Jason that he needed to take care of a few things before leaving his fellow agent alone.

As Jason was walking in the hallway, he stopped when he came across a memorial wall that had the names of all Division agents who died fighting for their cause. But there was one name on the wall that got Jason's attention, the name "Michael Miller".

He used to be Jason's first partner, back when they both joined the Division and went on their first missions. But during their last mission, something went wrong and Jason lost his partner because of it. The loss of Michael almost broke Jason down but in the end, he was able to move on and was given a new partner to work with.

But it didn't mean that what happened on that mission didn't continue to haunt Jason. Sometimes he sees nightmares about what happened to his first partner during their last mission together but it was nothing he couldn't handle.

As he was watching the memorial wall, Jason was in deep thought.

"If you were alive today, Michael. How things would be?" Jason thought.

Meanwhile somewhere in Antarctica

As the wildlife was thriving in Antarctica and the huge masses of ice were floating on the freezing water, something was hidden underwater beneath all the ice. Right underneath the center of Antarctica was a high-tech underwater base (the one that appeared in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) that was being patrolled by small attack submarines.

And in the main building of the base was what looked like an office where a single man was standing while looking out the window to the cold ocean. The man was dressed in a black outfit with black boots, gloves, a coat, and a shoulder gun holster under the coat. And his face was covered by a black one-hole balaclava and his eyes were covered by black sunglasses (Wesker's outfit from Resident Evil 5).

This man was Khan, the leader of the Shadow Organization whose symbol was the wolf's head (the ISA's symbol from Call of Duty: Black Ops II but it's red).

Khan was a mysterious man who operated his organization from the shadows but the interesting part was that the Shadow Organization was pretty much the same as the Division, only a twisted version of it.

Khan's goals and motives were a mystery but if one thing was certain about this "renegade", it was that he was dangerous, ruthless, resourceful, and Dangerous.

As his red eyes covered by sunglasses were observing the ocean, Khan was thinking about the great plans he had in store for the world and especially for the Division and Justice League.

"Soon, I no longer have to hide in the shadows and I'll take what is rightfully mine," Khan thought.

Author's Note: Finally... it's done. This story was another big project I have been working on along with my recent story Rise of Humanity. I have been working on this one for a while now, I hope you will like it. Also, if you wonder what my OC characters look like, their descriptions are in my profile.

There are other projects as well but I'm currently focused on the Rise of Humanity story. But don't worry, I'll update this story as soon as the next chapter is ready. See you ;)
