Disclaimer: I do not own The Mr. Men Show or any of its characters, but I do own Emily/Little Miss Music.
Music played in Emily's ears through her headphones as she walked down the street, humming along to the song. She was heading to the spot her new house was being built at. She still couldn't believe she was now living in Dillydale; it's been about a week since she decided to stay, and so far everyone has welcomed her. She didn't even remember the doubt she had that nobody here would like her.
At first characters like Mr. Rude and Mr. Stubborn seemed hesitant to talk to her, but she felt like they didn't hate her. They were just being themselves, rude and stubborn.
Finally, she arrived at her half-built house and looked it over. She had gone over the plans with the Mr. Man who offered to organize the construction of her new home, and they had agreed to make it in the shape of a stereo. Emily smiled, already liking her new house even though it wasn't finished yet. While she was waiting for it to be built, she was still staying with Little Miss Calamity.
She looked around when she heard someone shout her Little Miss name. She smiled and waved at Mr. Noisy as he approached her.
"Hey, Mr. Noisy," she greeted him.
"Good morning, Miss. Music!" he shouted. He gestured to the construction of the house. "How's it looking?" he asked loudly.
"It looks great!" Emily said excitedly. "Thank you, Mr. Noisy, for doing all this."
Mr. Noisy looked away, as if embarrassed, but since he was red, it was impossible to tell if he was blushing or not. "Of course, Miss. Music. Glad you like it," he said in a quieter tone, but still pretty loud. "But it's not finished yet!" he added, shouting. "It's going to be the best looking house in all of Dillydale by the time I'm finished with it!"
"That's great!" Emily looked around, spotting Mr. Bump and Little Miss Whoops discussing something. It seemed like Mr. Bump was going off on his sister, and Emily guessed it was because she did something that caused him to get hurt.
She was distracted when she heard someone else calling her name. She turned to see her friend, Little Miss Calamity, approaching her. Emily said goodbye to Mr. Noisy– noticing the disappointed look on his face– and went to meet Little Miss Calamity.
The accident-prone Little Miss looked past her. "What were you talking about with Mr. Noisy?" she asked.
Emily shrugged. "Just thanking him for building my house," she replied, and she was confused by the look her friend gave her. "What?" she asked.
"Nothing. Just…" Little Miss Calamity hesitated, before asking," Do you know why he offered to build your house?"
"No," Emily answered honestly.
Little Miss Calamity looked awkward. Then she shook her head and said," Never mind. Not my place. So, what did you want to do today?" she asked.
Emily looked at her, not understanding what she had been about to say. But she decided that it wasn't important so she shrugged and said," Want to go into town?"
Her friend nodded and they turned away from the house and entered the town. They passed several shops before Emily saw one that made her halt in her tracks. She ran to the window and looked through it at the solid black kitten. It was curled up, but as if Emily's approach woke it, the kitty lifted its head and turned startling green eyes on her.
Immediately she knew that was her cat. She wanted it.
The sound of the door opening made her turned to see Mr. Scatterbrain leaving the shop. He noticed her and walked over. "Hiya, Miss. Music," he said, grinning. He looked at the cat in the window. "Ah, we just got that kitty a couple of days ago. Do you want to meet her?"
Emily nodded, trying to calm her excitement. She followed Mr. Scatterbrain into the store, and to where the black kitten was. The kitty turned and meowed. Emily melted. She loved this cat already.
"Do you want her?" Mr. Scatterbrain asked, and Emily gasped in surprise.
She was about to agree, but then sighed. "I don't have any money," she muttered.
"Oh, that doesn't matter," he said, and she blinked, confused. "Do you want to adopt her? It wouldn't cost you any money."
Emily almost jumped on the spot in her excitement. "Really?" She looked down at the cat and the cat looked back at her. Their eyes locked and Emily reached over to pick her up. She held the cat close to her.
Just then Little Miss Calamity walked into the shop. She joined them. "Cute kitty," she said, petting the cat's head. "Are you getting her?"
Emily nodded and stroked her new kitty.
"What are you going to name her?" Mr. Scatterbrain asked.
Emily thought for a couple of moments. Then the perfect name came to her. "Jingle," she decided, hugging her kitty, and Jingle let out the cutest sound Emily had ever heard.
After getting some cat supplies, that Mr. Scatterbrain geniously gave Emily with no charge, the Little Misses decided to go straight back to Little Miss Calamity's house. Once there, Emily played with Jingle until it was time for bed. She climbed onto the couch and Jingle crawled on top of her, purring loudly.
Emily watched her for a while, the happiest she's been in a very long time. She already knew she would enjoy living here, but everything felt complete now that she had Jingle. Soon she fell asleep, knowing that life couldn't get any better than this.
The End!
