Sooo funny story, Detecting Ladybugs broke google docs... I guess its too big at 516 pages because I hit 280,857 words (Give or take a few) and Google docs WILL NOT let me type anything else into it without throwing up error messages. I had to start a new document to keep writing... So that's your useless information of the day lol. Feel free to ask questions or message if you want an immediate answer. Have a great weekend!
Oh yeah! Relationship development in this chapter so if you don't like kissing scenes... skim.
(Slow Burn Detective AU!) Marinette is used to working alone on the streets of Paris as she strives to take down the Hawkmoth gang. When the thief Chat Noir comes crashing into her life things are bound to get magical, especially when co-detective Adrien returns to Paris and seems to want to be her new partner. Will their fated partnership end in a capture or a kiss?
Challenging Idiots
The first time Adrien's phone rang neither of them moved. Then Marinette's phone rang and Adrien groaned as Marinette treated him to some very creative swearing. Slowly she slipped from Adrien's arms, then the bed, collecting her phone from the living room where she had left it charging. There was a long silence where Adrien contemplated going back to sleep before Marinette suddenly started swearing again. Muttering his own curses under his breath Adrien rose from the bed and nearly walked into Marinette as she came charging back into the room.
"Where's the fire?" Adrien asked sleepily rubbing at his face.
Marinette tossed him his phone and Adrien was happy to see that his reaction time was awake, if not his coordination. He half caught the phone, proceeded to drop it, and with a sigh had to bend over to pick it up again. Reading the message on the screen Adrien nearly dropped his phone a second time.
"They found Chloe?!" Adrien demanded suddenly wide awake. He moved around her pausing at the door to glance back at Marinette.
She hadn't moved as she scrolled through the full message again looking skeptical as she finally spoke. "The message was sent by Roger and only detectives were called for the meeting. I don't even know if your father will be there since I didn't see his tag at the top of the message, although Roger might have messaged him separately. The meeting is in 40 minutes though. We need to get moving."
"Wait… what about all the stuff we pulled last night?" Adrien asked still in her doorway.
Marinette's shoulders slumped and suddenly he could see how tired she was. The Miraculous was bolstering his energy but Marinette must not have bonded deep enough with her stone for it to do the same for her. Or maybe it had and it was pulling more energy from her as it tried to stabilize. The next time he was around her as Chat he really would have to ask to see it and Maybe Plagg could get a reading from it.
"We bring it, all of it. If Roger really has found Chloe all the work we did last night will put them far ahead of any schedule. It doesn't matter that Roger was the first to bring up her location. We need to get Chloe to safety no matter how much it rankles me to turn such info over for free." Marinette finally grouched treating him to a mild glare, "Now shoo I have to get dressed."
A part of him flinched from that glare even though he wasn't the source of her irritation at the moment. Another part of him purred wanting to see more of her claws. Sleep deprivation definitely had a hand in his next move as he leaned against her doorway shooting what he hoped was a suave flirty grin.
"Please don't hold off on my account." Adrien teased.
To his absolute joy her face turned red and her arm cocked back like she was about to throw her phone at his face. Jerking away from the door jamb Adrien was ready to duck and run when a sly grin came over Marinette's features. That grin scared him more than the phone especially when she crooned "Oh really?"
Even with the phone in one hand her arms crossed her chest, finger tips hooking under the edges of her shirt. The fabric rose up slowly revealing creamy skin while something between a squawk and whine slipped out of him. His eyes were riveted as the fabric rose up past her stomach revealing actual abs, then stopped. Blinking Adrien glanced up wondering when he had ended up outside the door and saw the coy razor sharp smile Marinette wore.
"Pervert." Marinette clucked dropping her shirt and with one foot snapped her door shut in his face.
The sudden movement and subsequent slam made him leap back in surprise. Unfortunately his limbs didn't respond like he wished and he ended up sprawling backwards on his butt. For a long moment all Adrien could do was sit there his mind playing back that oh so sexy movement of Marinette pulling up her shirt her creamy skin making him-
"So you gonna burn a hole in the door with your gaze, or are you finally going to pounce her?" Plagg asked
Adrien's head whipped to the side to stare at the kwami who just leisurely waved while tossing a piece of cheesy bread down his gullet. "What?!" Adrien choked his voice hardly more than a whisper. "What are you doing here?!"
Plagg shrugged drifting in a lazy circle "Watching you make a fool of yourself. She is becoming immune to your charms… took her long enough I suppose."
With low snarl Adrien snagged Plagg out of the air and called loud enough for Marinette to hear "I'm going to go dressed too! Meet you outside!"
There was an affirmative sound from behind Marinettes door so Adrien beat a hasty retreat back to his flat all the while hauling a sniggering kwami in his fist. The moment they were in the flat, Plagg phased through Adrien's hand his sniggers exploding into full guffaws.
"Kit that was the most stupefied I've ever seen you! She's really got you tied around her little finger doesn't she?"
"Sh-shut up Plagg!" Adrien snipped trying to shake Marinettes coy smile out of his brain. "She already called me a pervert! I don't need you doing the same!"
Plagg laughed all the harder following his boy into the bedroom "Can't tell you how many times Tiki called me a pervert! It's inevitable kit. At least she was flirting back with you and didn't just punch you in the face! Next time just kiss her and she will forget all about it."
Adrien growled under his breath but there wasn't much heat in the growl since his brain was now distracted by the idea of kissing Marinette. He'd already done that once so he knew exactly what it felt like and he was so lost in his impromptu daydream it took Plagg digging in his claws to snap him out of it.
"You're gonna be late." Plagg chortled as a wide fanged grin grew across his features. It wasn't hard to guess what Adrien had been daydreaming about since his face turned red.
"I was thinking of what to wear!" He protested.
Plagg flew off his hand before Adrien thought to swat at him even as he rolled his eyes "Sure kit and I am a cute fluffy mutt. Hurry up though I have a feeling you are going to have a busy day today."
Even though there was an amused edge to Plaggs voice, his words were sobering and Adrien did hurry to put himself to rights. Skipping the hair gel Adrien simply tossed on one of his suits, happy he carried a few spares and was back in Marinette's apartment within a few minutes. Marinette had already changed and was at the table collecting papers and organizing them as she slid them into an ever growing file. Glancing up as he stumbled into the room Marinette had to smile and Adrien instinctively straightened wanting to haul a hand through his hair in an attempt to make it a little straighter.
To his surprise Marinette chuckled "You ok there Adrien?"
Decision made at that smiling, teasing, question he crossed to her side making her eyebrow rise in curiosity. He had never been good at deciphering other people's emotions and his father's training, to be as emotionless as possible hadn't helped Adrien one bit. As a child his mother had told him more than once that he felt too deeply and was a sweet child because of it. Once his mother had vanished and his father turned cold, that emotional sense had been tossed in a mental corner so it very rarely saw the light of day. Marinette however, kept drawing it out and as he drew close to her he could at least tell that he was making her a little nervous. He didn't want to make her nervous, didn't want her scared of him, and he pressed one hand to her cheek in a gentle caress, testing the waters.
Pink bloomed on her cheeks and since she didn't pull away he leaned in whispering "At any time just say no and I will back off. No questions asked, no conditions to fulfill."
The words hung between them their eyes meeting and holding. Sometimes people had a hard time meeting Adrien's gaze and since becoming Chat Noir even less people seemed to be able to hold it for long. Marinette often let her gaze skitter away too but he had a feeling it was because most people were intimidated by her gaze as well, not because she was unable to hold her own against him. This time she let him feel the full force of her gaze the air going still as neither of them looked away. Finally after what felt like an eternity but was probably only a few short seconds a simple two syllable word slipped from her mouth.
"Ok"
Permission and longing echoed in those syllables and before she could draw a breath to add to it, his mouth pressed to hers. A slight sound, maybe surprise or joy slipped from her but Adrien was too busy weaving a hand into her hair to really try to make a distinction. She hadn't pulled it into pigtails yet and her hair was even softer than he'd imagined. There was no sign of rejection and that was all he was concerned about as he heard the file hitting the table. Or maybe it hit the floor. Adrien really didn't care since it meant that it freed her hands to reach up and tangle in his hair. Pressing closer to her Adrien deepened the kiss their mingled breaths coming faster as they both instinctively fought for control. Pulling back for the briefest of seconds for a breath, he tilted her head the slightest bit exposing the smooth cream column of her neck. He pressed a kiss to it eliciting a groan from Marinette her hands trailing to his shoulders, kneading at a stiff muscle. Another kiss to her neck made her press tighter against him and made Adrien want her even more. He was losing himself in her, in the tension that was climbing to a peak between them. There was something that they should be doing, or saying, or… something… Adrien found he couldn't remember nor care as he tasted Marinette under his lips.
"Adrien…" Marinette gasped as he kissed a bit of collarbone peaking from under her shirt and then the moment shattered as an alarm blared from Marinette's phone on the couch.
They leaped apart like scalded cats Adrien dropping into a crouch while Marinette landed less gracefully, missed her step, and tumbled backwards onto her butt. They both realized what the loud sound was at the same moment and both broke into laughter at the same time.
"Oooookkkk…" Marinette drawled shaking her head to clear it as Adrien stood back up.
Hitting the alarm off Adrien took a step forward offering Marinette a hand. She took it and he hauled her up pulling her close. Before anymore kissing could be accomplished however Marinette put a finger to his lips.
"You are an excellent distraction Adrien Agreste and an even better kisser. However if we don't show up to this meeting not only will we get into trouble but Chloe might never get rescued." Marinette hummed her voice low and sultry.
Adrien couldn't help it. He pouted at her speaking around her finger. "One more?"
Her fingers drifted to his chin forcing him to tilt his head to the side and she pressed a solid warm kiss to his cheek before stepping back out of the circle of his arms. Adrien wanted to complain but after a moment's consideration decided it was probably better since it wouldn't take much to get lost in her again.
"We need to go… Grab the file for me and let me just snag these last few papers." Marinette ordered but Adrien noted the blush that covered her cheeks and decided that he liked the look of a well kissed Marinette. Even still he made no further moves on her knowing they did have to get to work and look professional when they arrived. Rumpled hair, clothes, and flushed cheeks would definitely leave a bad impression.
"Thank goodness you don't wear lip stick." Adrien murmured the thought slipping out of his mouth before he could censor it.
Marinette glanced over at him a serious look on her face. "Adrien we cannot under any circumstances do anything at work. No kissing, holding hands, hugging…"
"I know Marinette, believe me I know. Professionalism only when at work especially since I still think we can convince my father we will make a great pair." Adrien held the file out to her and she took it a relieved look flashing through her eyes.
Taking the file from his hands she went up on tip toe and unexpectedly pressed another feather light kiss to his cheek. "I will hold you to that and kick your ass if you try and pull anything."
Adrien rubbed at his cheek a sappy look on his face. "I might take you up on that."
Marinette rolled her eyes and dropped the last few papers she needed into the file before shoving lightly at his chest. "Move it Agreste we are going to be late. Also there are a few things we should discuss before walking into the precinct."
Her tone sobered him instantly and Adrien headed for her door reminding himself that he had decided to let her lead when it came to this stuff. They were at the precinct in minutes, a ground work of rules or perhaps agreements between the two of them settled. The most obvious was no kissing hand holding and in Adrien's case no touching more than he would any other co-worker. Since they had already been sparring and worked in her office numerous times there was no need to alter already established habits. People already knew that they enjoyed each other's company since they were both competent and worked well together. There were already rumors in the mill since they had gone matching to the police ball together and there was nothing Marinette could do about them. She would just have to work extra hard to ignore such things like she normally did instead of getting defensive. If she got defensive people would begin to suspect that there really was something more going on and that was the last thing Marinette wanted. Adrien peeled off to grab himself a coffee while Marinette went right to the room where the meeting was being held. It started in ten minutes and Marinette wanted to hold a seat for the both of them. There were a few people already there and to her surprise Damocles was already present.
"Ah Marinette! I was starting to wonder if you would show!"
Marinette smiled at Damocles walking to where he was since he had two seats open next to him. "Awe come on I'm ten minutes early!"
Damocles sighed "Yes I suppose that is true. Usually you are ten minutes late to everything. You were never this bad before…"
Marinette flinched but he had a good point. When she was with Tiki she was usually on time because Tiki dragged her out. Alone, her promptness hadn't been the best. "I've never been great at showing up places on time Damocles. Most of the time Tiki was the one making sure we were on time."
Damocles twitched at her words but he continued "Well dear girl you should really work on that. Or find yourself a partner who is prompt."
"Yes sir." Marinette grumbled slouching down into the seat next to him and wondering if she should choose a different seat. Laying the file with Chloe's stuff down on the table before her she noted Damocles's glance of curiosity but he didn't ask what it was for. It was a small mercy and thankfully Adrien showed up a minute or so later coffee in hand. Spotting her without Marinette having to get his attention Adrien moved to take the chair on her other side.
"Good morning Adrien!" Damocles called as Adrien set his coffee down.
"Sir" Adrien replied nodding politely before sitting down.
"I believe your father has given your services over to me for the day. Would you like to help me in my office and later I will have you checking clues in the city. Does that sound alright to you?" Damocles offered.
Both Marinette and Adrien whipped towards him looking surprised. "I was not informed of this but that sounds very educational. Do you want me to come to your office right after the meeting is done?" Adrien managed setting his voice into a polite tone even though he wanted to reject the offer outright.
He had far better things to do today than being stuck in an office with Damocles all day. The only good news so far was that Marinette seemed to have some affection towards Damocles so he couldn't be that bad of a person. Plus she had told Adrien Damocles was an excellent detective if a bit of a hoarder when it came to books and such. As of yet Adrien had not seen his office but considering it was nicknamed 'The Nest' Adrien was fairly positive he didn't want to spend the whole day there.
Damocles stroked at his beard for a moment then shook his head. "No I fear Roger will probably be using my office to have a tantrum in. How about we get started two hours after the meeting ends?"
"Whenever you need me sir." Adrien responded and then there was no more time for idle chit chat.
Roger burst into the room in the wake of two other people holding a single piece of paper triumphantly in the air. "We have Chloe's location!" he crowed moving to the front of the room.
The room hummed with indistinct sound and chatter as Roger slapped the piece of paper he held to the podium at the front. He was grinning, looking like an excited kid a Christmas and he waited till the chatter settled into silence before continuing. "She is being held by a group of unknown individuals in a warehouse apartment near the party district."
Marinette and Adrien glanced at each other in confusion before they both mentally calculated just how far off he was distance wise. Roger continued not realizing the mental turmoil he had just thrown Marinette and Adrien into while the room buzzed with sound again. "We have an address and two witnesses who saw Chloe being forced to enter the building and the building is in a lesser frequented area so we will be able to surround the building easily. We can start getting together a raid-"
Whoa, whoa, wait a minute Roger… what about the shells on the tires and the sightings down in other districts?" Marinette asked not understanding how Roger could have Chloes location so far from where she actually was.
"Those were fish." Roger claimed smugly and the buzz in the room went dead as everyone gazed up at him in confusion.
"Do you mean a red herring?" Adrien asked his voice strong and clear.
Rogers cheeks flushed a bit as sniggers peppered the room. "Yeah that one. They are fake clues and totally unimportant. Now do either of you have any further comments or can I continue?"
"Do you have a picture of Chloe at this location?" Marinette asked putting the shells on the tires aside for the moment. They had been important, not that she could bring that information up here.
Roger froze then shifted looking a little distressed. "Um no, but I have two eye witnesses saying she is in there."
"You also have about 200 calls from people all around the city saying that they have seen Chloe." Marinette stressed wondering what in the hell was up with Roger. He had always been fairly incompetent but this was downright dangerous.
"So?!" Roger snapped petulantly "I fail to see why those calls are suddenly important."
Marinette gaped at him in disbelief and shook her head slowly. "Let me get this straight… You called all of us in here because two people told you that Chloe was in a random building in the party district and you believe them?"
"Yes, just like you believe your sources when they come to you!" Roger huffed his face starting to turn red.
Marinette nodded "Agreed, but have you verified anything yet?"
Roger crossed his arms defensively "T-that's what this meeting is for! Why else would I call a meeting?"
The realization that Roger had no idea what he was doing or really even saying hit Marinette and fed up with Rogers stupidity she couldn't keep herself from snapping "Oh my God Roger, you would struggle to pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel."
"What the heck is that supposed to mean?!" Roger demanded even as Adrien struggled not to laugh.
Unfortunately most people around them didn't have the same restraint he did and laughter filled the air making Roger glower at everyone from the front. He looked frustrated, angry, and he turned it onto Marinette since she was the one interrupting him and questioning all of his moves.
"Why is it that when you get a lead that you want everyone to jump in on it and follow you blindly. However when someone else gets a lead or beats you to some information you want to beat around the bush and ask a million questions? I know you don't like Chloe is that why you are so hesitant to save her?" Roger demanded
Marinette froze her jaw dropping a little while Adrien had gone stiff next to her. She wanted to snap at Roger, claw at the idea he had just put forth because how dare he?! But… she knew how this looked and he had made a good point. However the last time she had trusted second hand information it had ended up with Tiki getting killed.
"You're right." Marinette stated making Roger gape at her in surprise and the others in the room shift anxiously. "I don't like Chloe but if I didn't care I would not be sitting here having this conversation with you. The thing is when I get a lead by the time I bring it here I have already checked the source, confirmed it's correct, and made sure that going into a raid will not get someone killed. So far all you have put forth is a hunch and an address. Forgive me if I simply needed some more information."
It was Rogers turn to go silent and Marinette stood knowing that if she stayed any longer that she probably would say something she would regret. She could go to Gabriel now and talk to him about this debacle while putting forth the information she had. It would then fall to Gabriel to decide which way to proceed. Adrien glanced at her curiously but he didn't move, thankfully trusting whatever it was that she was about to do.
"Either way I know that you don't need nor want me in on this so just let me know if you need another set of eyes. You know where my office is." Marinette said
"Actually, I was going to make you the raids spearhead." Roger muttered his tone close to sulking.
Murmurs echoed around the room and Marinette stared at Roger in utter disbelief.
"You're kidding." Marinette stated
"Roger is not joking Ms. Dupain-Cheng you have the most experience in raids like this, therefore he would be foolish to not utilize your skills." Gabriel said closing the door behind him and making everyone turn to look in his direction. No one had heard Gabriel enter although Roger must have seen him. It would certainly explain the sulky tone. Moving to the front of the room Gabriel turned to face her eyeing her expectantly. "Well?"
At his question Adrien went even stiffer beside her if possible and Marinette suddenly felt as if she were stuck between a rock and a hard place. She did not want this assignment, she did not want to take part in this raid, and all her instincts were screaming that something was very off. Every bit of evidence she had at the moment countered everything that Roger had and Marinette wanted… no she needed to double check everything to ensure that any move she made wouldn't end up with someone's death. Hers and Adrien's included. The silence in the room was oppressive and Marinette looked between Gabriel and Roger trying to figure out what she had done right or so very wrong to end up here.
"We need more information before attempting any raid." Marinette finally said. "An address is all well and good but we need to know how many people will be in the building, how many will be covering Chloe, and we need to know the layout of the buildings to make sure they don't try to slip her out a back door somewhere."
"How long will that information take to collect?" Gabriel asked
Marinette looked to Roger who looked like he had been put on the spot while not expecting it. "I…I'm not sure."
"Then that's where we begin." Marinette said
"B-but I have her position! We could go in tomorrow and-"
"And we could easily get killed if it's a trap." Marinette snapped finally voicing her fears. "The person you say is Chloe could be a random blond chick or a dude in a wig. You don't even have a picture of her in this location nor have you seen her yourself."
Roger opened then closed his mouth several times and Marinette could easily read his glare. He was pissed that Marinette had stalled the raid but she was not about to run into a trap willingly. Not again.
"See that it is done Roger and we will reconvene then." Gabriel intoned leaving no room for argument.
At his final words the room stirred and people started to stand since the meeting was over. Chatter filled the tense atmosphere and Adrien got to his feet glancing at her curiously. His face showed nothing but an indifferent stare but Marinette knew better. Before she could say anything to Adrien however Gabriel's voice cut through the idle chatter.
"Marinette a moment before you leave."
It was not a request but an order and Marinette whispered "Just go to the gym. I'll meet you there when I am done."
"Not your office?" Adrien murmured just as low starting to shift past her as he moved to the door.
"Too many eyes, besides we haven't spared in a few days." Marinette answered collecting the folder on the table and went around the other side of the tables to make her way to the front.
Only Roger and Gabriel stood there and they waited until everyone had vacated the room before speaking a single word.
"Marinette what makes a successful raid?" Gabriel asked
Marinette blinked at him unsure as to why he was asking her this question. Was it for Rogers benefit or was he fishing for something? Either way she had to answer honestly so she decided to simply go with the basics. "Knowing who your enemy is, where your quarry is, understanding the layout of the place you need to raid, knowing how many people and weapons said people may have are all key things you should know before considering a raid. There are other things like weather conditions and time of day that can affect the outcome of a raid as well. You should have a plan before walking into a raid because once these things start they tend to become chaotic."
Roger looked a touch overwhelmed and Gabriel looked him dead in the eyes. "And how many of those points do you have the answer to?"
Roger actually started turning red "Not enough sir."
Gabriel nodded pulling his arms behind his back making him look even stiffer than normal. "Before we reconvene here bring me what information you do have and whatever plan you create then Marinette can assess whether a raid should be done."
Roger pouted but he nodded gathering the single sheet of paper he had before leaving. Marinette stayed where she was because it seemed like Gabriel had more to say and she really didn't want to get into a confrontation with Roger today. She knew he would blame her for his set back which was fair but really annoying.
"Is there something else?" Gabriel asked jolting Marinette out of her reverie.
"Yes sir, you have done far more raids than I have… Why-?" Marinette started only to stop as Gabriel turned the full brunt of his gaze on her.
"You are an excellent detective Marinette. You enjoy helping people and you have created a wide reaching network of informants that allow you to feel the heartbeat of this city. However you are too much like a lone wolf staying to yourself and running things the way you feel is best. That needs to end. You will learn to work with others, even those you do not get along with. If you are to advance in this precinct these are skills you will have to learn and polish. One day you could be in charge here and I will not have you waste your skills unnecessarily. Do you understand?"
"Uh yes sir…" Marinette squeaked feeling her face turning red. "I-in that case… Sir, I have Chloes real location."
Gabriel had been in the process of turning away but at her words he snapped back around to face her. "Excuse me?" he demanded and Marinette realized that she had startled him.
"I-I have Chloe's real location sir. It's why I was so skeptical of Rogers information." Marinette revealed
Gabriel's eyes narrowed "How did you come by this information Marinette? Your Whisperers?"
"No sir, I found where they were keeping her thanks to some people the Hawkmoth gang had kicked out when they took over their squatting area. I saw them transporting her and was able to follow them to their new location." Marinette answered leaving out the particulars of how she had managed such a thing.
If Marinette didn't know any better she would have said that Gabriel looked stunned for the briefest of moments then he shook his head. "That was foolish of you to walk into such a dangerous situation alone. Unless… was my son was with you?"
"No sir he wasn't." Marinette answered automatically "Adrien was looking into a final lead in a different part of the city. I have everything we found in here."
She held up the folder and Gabriel took it from her flipping it open and glancing at the random pages it fell open to. It was a map of the building's interior that Chloe was in from the side and overlaid were the plans for a raid should one be needed. Flipping to several other pages Gabriel's eyebrows rose the slightest bit which was the equivalent to a shout for normal people. Glancing at the page Marinette winced. It was a page about the Akuma she had encountered and their suspected tie to the Hawkmoth gang. The Akuma hadn't yet made it into any reports since they were now tied up with Chat Noir and the Hawkmoth gang. If she started writing about monsters in her reports it would be the equivalent of opening Pandora's Box and she wasn't quite ready to open that box yet. Unfortunately she had been going through some of her papers on the table before working on Chloes stuff and it must have gotten shifted into these pages by accident.
"Uh that doesn't belong there…" Marinette murmured reaching forwards but Gabriel shifted the file back his gaze cutting as he looked into her eyes.
"Why have I not seen a report on these… Akuma?" Gabriel demanded icely glancing back down at the page as if to assure himself he had said the word right.
"Because it sounds insane?" Marinette tried feeling herself cringing. "You always say we need proof. I've been trying to get it but these Akuma are thankfully rare and when the last one was killed I just happened to have the bad luck of being present."
Gabriels face had smoothed into an indifferent mask once more as he slipped the paper free and handed it back to her. She reached up to take the paper but Gabriel held onto it for a moment making sure he had her full attention as he spoke again. "You are treading a dangerous line Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Tiki was very good at walking that line so I do wonder if you have the same talent. That said I want a report on these things on my desk by tomorrow night. I don't care how crazy the information sounds or how little information there is. If there are monsters on my streets I want to know about them yesterday." He snapped the file shut releasing the page he held and turned towards the door. "I will go through this file and will call you when I am done. I am assuming Adrien helped you put the file together?"
"Yes sir." Marinette answered seeing no reason to lie to him since she had already admitted to working with him last night. "Both of our reports for Chloes case are in the front of the file. Although neither of them reflect the fact that we found her. Her location was found long after we had completed them."
"Very well Marinette. Please continue your normal desk duties and I will call when I am ready for you. Please do not leave the precinct." Gabriel stated his tone sharp. "We will speak again soon."
"Yes sir." Marinette answered forcing her tone to be light and untroubled. She hadn't planned to be stuck at the precinct all day. Matter of fact she had planned for about a half day so she could meet up with Stormy and keep an eye on the building Chloe was in. That certainly wasn't going to happen now and not really knowing what else to do she followed Gabriel out of the room before breaking off to head down to the gym and relay everything that happened to Adrien.
