BANG BANG BANG!
Comfort and Iain jump, they look over to where everyone is stood.
The main male comes over to them both grabbing Comfort up dragging her over to where another male is on the floor. Blood circling around him from the gun shot wound. "Treat him!" He pushes Comfort down onto the floor, she falls down. She looks to the male on the floor. He was only a teenager, he look petrified.
"Ok mate you're gonna be fine. I'm Comfort, a paramedic…" She looks to the wound. "I need my kit bag." She turns to the male who was behind her. " I can't do anything with my kit." She looks at him, he grabs her back up dragging her to the ambulance. Comfort grabs the stuff she needs then jumps back out, he grabs her by the arm dragging her back. She kneels back down, glancing over to Iain who was sat watching her. She opens the kit bag, pulling some gloves from her pocket putting them on. She looks back down to the gun shot, cutting the teenagers shirt to get a proper look.
Shouting between the two gangs starts up again, guns being aimed again. Comfort keeps her head down focusing on the job in hand although knowing she was in the firing line was a bit nerve wracking.
Ignoring what was going she continues trying to treat the gun shot, but without Iain helping to apply pressure it was proving difficult. She talks to the lad quietly as she gets him to help apply pressure to the wound. She glances over to Iain who stands up coming to walk over. The male turns around pointing the gun to him, Iain puts his hands up.
"Alright alright… I was just going to help my colleague… if you want that lad saving it needs both of us…" Iain stands still looking to the male.
"Sit down!" The male shouts. Things were getting out of control, everyone was angry and Comfort and Iain were in the middle of it all. Iain sighs sitting back down keeping his hands up, he looks back over to Comfort who looks back down. She packs a load more pressure dressings onto the wound kneeling there, her uniform beginning to get stained with blood. She stands herself up, moving herself around the lad starting to drag him over to Iain. The male looks over. "What do you think you're doing?!" He shouts walking over at her, pointing the gun to her. Comfort looks up slightly continuing to drag the lad across the floor. Iain looks to Comfort shifting in his chair before getting up rushing over helping her.
"Like my colleague said without us both working, he'll die. I can't do it all by myself!" She glares to the male before looking to Iain who takes over from dragging the lad. Comfort stands up walking back to the kit bag, picking it up walking over to where Iain had now laid the lad back down. She puts the kit bag down looking to the male. "I suggest you hurry up and wrap this up cos soon there will be armed coppers running through those doors taking you down!" She shouts as he points the gun to her almost snarling like a dog. "Our colleagues and control will have noticed we've not notified them to say we're back or going to the hospital they'll be wondering where we are. We're paramedics. Not coppers. We don't go sorting stuff out like this!" She glares at him turning around walking back to Iain laying the kit bag down kneeling back down. Iain looks to her, he wasn't sure whether he was surprised at how she was acting or miffed because of how she was acting.
Iain pulls some gloves on taking a look at the wound before placing the pressure dressings back down, looking to Comfort who was sorting out a line. He watches her then glances over to the two gangs again. "Do you think we'll be here much longer…?" He mumbles to her. Comfort glances up as she sorts out the line.
"For their sake, I hope we ain't." She looks at him then back down licking her lips. Iain looks at her, wondering what she meant. Did she know something he didn't? He had a feeling she knew quite a bit this sort of gang stuff, she seemed to have authority with the gang somehow. Anyone else had spoken to the male like that they'd have been shot. Even for Iain it was a bit to brash to act like that. He looks back down to the lad who was hanging on. The three of them sit in silence for the moment as more shouting ensues.
Pulling her gloves off, Comfort chucks them to the side running them down her face. She looks over to them all seeing the drugs deal going down. She watches them all. It seems to be going to plan.
"Nah ah, we agreed on the price already!" The male who had taken Comfort and Iain hostage shouts to the other gang leader. The other gang leader looks at him smirking.
"Well I backed out of that… were you not told?" He smirks. "I don't think your little minion over there told you the correct information."
The male glares at him before spinning around walking over to the lad who was with Comfort and Iain. Comfort stands up in a shot getting in the way. "Get out of my way!" He goes to shove her away.
"No!" Comfort glares at him pushing him away. "You wanna hurt him you do it when we ain't here! Cos I tell you now, you shoot him again and he dies, I will personally make sure you get sent down for a good few years!" She glares at him pushing him away again. Iain stands up pulling Comfort away. Comfort moves away from him getting back into the males face. "Don't make this our problem… especially not mine. You really don't wanna do that." The male looks at her frowning before raising an eyebrow. He pulls his bandana down from his face looking to Comfort.
"I've just realised who you are…" He looks at her smirking. "You're CJ… Wayne's ex." He looks at her his smirk growing. "He always said you were feisty." He stares at her. "I didn't realise you were back… after getting him put inside. Got some nerve after everything he did for you."
Comfort lets out a little 'huh' looking to him. "Everything I have… is what I did for myself. He did nothing for me." Comfort looks at the male, she didn't know who he was. The male looks at her nodding keeping the gun aimed at the lad, who was looking to him terrified. "You wanna kill him, you've gotta get past me first." Iain does a double take looking at her, what was she playing at?! He swallows looking to her and the male, he shifts a bit chewing his lip. Comfort doesn't move she remains in front of the lad and in front of the gun staring the male down.
The male looks at her nodding slowly.
'POLICE! ARMED POLICE STAY WHERE YOU ARE!"
The male turns around seeing the armed police smirking. He grabs Comfort's wrist pulling her to him, his arm around her neck his other hand pressing the gun to her forehead. Iain stands up instantly looking to them both. The male moves away from Iain to keep him in his sight
"Move… and she's shot." He looks to Iain who stays where he is. Comfort swallows standing her feeling the but of the gun against her temple. The other gang all step back, they weren't here to get anyone hurt, especially not a paramedic.
The other gang leader looks to the male holding Comfort. "Woah woah… calm down… them two ain't done anything. They're busy trying to save your lad and this is how you're gonna pay 'em? Just cos you know her ex or whatever?" He shakes his head not happy. "Nah we didn't sign up to this." He nods to his lot to hold their hands up and be arrested. "We ain't messing with this, you've lost your head blud."
The male looks at him holding onto Comfort. "Don't go telling me I lost my mind when you ain't holding your bargain up!" He shouts getting angrier and angrier. He keeps hold of Comfort walking around dragging her with him. Comfort looks around her eyes flickering over to Iain who was stood with the lad still. He looks over to the police as if to say do something!
Comfort stands still when the male stands still she breathes in her hands on his arms to stop him from suffocating her.
"Look the deal ain't gone right. But liking me or my colleague ain't gonna solve shit. You've got one of your men down, you're gonna be arrested. You don't want killing someone on your rap sheet to. Not a woman at that either. The rest of your prison finds that out your life will be hell trust me. Like he's just said, a paramedic is to help people killing one ain't gonna see you in good light." She feels the gun still against her head, she looks at him slightly. "Look I don't know what you're trying to prove but Wayne won't think your big and hard for killing me." She shifts a little taking one hand of his arm. The male looks down at her hearing her mention Wayne. "You'll see Wayne in prison but he won't ask if you've seen me. He doesn't care like he never did even when we were married so this ain't proving anything to anyone."
"Shut up!" He shouts in Comfort's face the gun wobbling in his hand. "Shut up! I'm trying to think!"
"There's nothing to think about! You're going to be arrested no matter what so just let us go." Comfort was getting a little desperate now to go. She could feel the gun wobbling against her head. If he made one false move that thing could go off and they all knew it was real. "Just let me go and go quietly to prison." She looks around to the armed police officers the guns all aimed towards her and the male. She starts to move a bit making him move with her knowing that she needed to get out of the way of the firing line of the officers. "I don't want them shooting you and I most certainly don't wanna be shot either… so just put the gun down and go quietly."
"Nah! I don't wanna go quietly. This was meant to be my big day. To mark me being a leader!" He shouts looking around. "Gun me down but she's coming with me!" His finger presses against the trigger.
Comfort whips her hand out of her trouser pocket, plunging a scalpel into his leg. He lets out a scream moving away. Comfort pushes him away wrestling with him for the gun. Shots fire out.
Iain ducks down taking cover. He then looks up slowly realising everything has gone quiet. Comfort. Where was she? He looks up and around slowly sitting back up. He swallows standing up looking around seeing the police officers all running over to someone on the ground. He swallows again running over seeing the green uniform. "Comfort…" he walks over.
Comfort stands up holding her hands out to show she had nothing in them. The officers nod giving her the all clear. Iain let's out a deep sigh of relief. Comfort turns around looking to him. "Come on we've w patient to tend to." She walks over to the lad calm and collected. Iain looks at she amazed at how calm she seemed. There was no way for someone who hadn't been in the army to be so calm about what had just happened. He nods walking with her he had so many questions but now wasn't the right time. He helps load the lad into a stretcher before walking to the ambulance. He climbs in the front letting Comfort take over in the back. They get a police escort back to the hospital where they hand over.
Back at the station Iain was talking to Jeff about what had happened. He had just finished doing his statement with the police. He looks behind Jeff seeing Comfort walking out. Jeff looks behind seeing the boss before looking back to Iain.
"She alright or are we keeping her at a distance?" Jeff looks at Iain doing his jacket up. Iain looks at Comfort to Jeff.
"Nah we're keeping her. Honestly never seen anyone go up against someone with a gun like she did. The way she whipped that scalpel out and stabbed that bloke was quite something." He watches Comfort who was talking to a few of the night crew. Jeff nods glancing behind him seeing Comfort talking. Iain goes to say something else but decides against it, he was sure Comfort hadn't wanted her personal life outed in front of one of her new team members so he wasn't about to go bragging about it to the team. He did want to know about hr background though, there was something much more to her.
Comfort smiles and says night to the team walking off, holding her bag. She had her normal clothes on, a pair of jeans with a vest top with a leather jacket on over the top. She walks towards Iain and Jeff she smiles to them both. "See you both tomorrow." Jeff looks at her then to Iain he nods slightly.
"You not coming to the pub with us all?" Iain pipes up looking at her. "Usually we take the newbie to the pub, welcome them to the team. Least we can do tonight I think for you."
Comfort smiles, then shakes her head. "Very kind of you but no, I need to get home for something. Have a drink for me though, yeah?" She smiles. "I might even forget that you went against my orders." She looks at Iain walking past him, Jeff looks to her then to Iain, an eyebrow raised trying not to smile. Iain lets out a little laugh.
"Fair enough…" He looks to her. She smiles to him before walking off towards her Porsche. Iain watches her slipping his hands into his jacket pockets. He watches her for a second before turning around walking over to her. "Actually…" he walks over. Comfort stands up looking over towards Iain hearing his voice, she chucks her bag onto the passenger side seat. "I wanna apologise… for you know… going against your orders… Maybe if I'd have listened we'd not have ended up in that mess." He smiles apologetically. Comfort breathes in looking at him, she rests her foot on the bottom of the car leaning against her door.
Comfort shrugs. "We could have done. He was clearly not in the right state of mind… he could have seen us and ambushed the ambulance or something. To be fair we were lucky they didn't ransack the ambulance, we could have made an escape at some point I'm sure." She looks at him as she shifts off her car door. "Just next time… when I do give an order, don't go against it, yeah?" She looks at him. Iain nods, a little smile on his lips. "Have a nice night and have a drink on me. I've put a tab behind the bar for you all, don't make it too expensive." She smiles slowly sinking down into her car. Iain just nods again watching her, there was something mysterious about her that he kind of liked. He steps back watching her in her car, starting it up. She slowly pulls out of the spot waving to Iain, Jeff and a few other others.
Jeff walks over watching Comfort leave in her car Porsche. He stands beside Iain looking to him. "Don't think she'll let you forget it next time somehow." He watches the car driving out.
Iain lets out a laugh. "Probably not but we shall see. I bet she goes against her own orders sometimes. She's got brains, she'll know if rules are needed to be broken." He looks to Jeff. "She's also put a tab behind the bar for us all."
Jeff does a double take. "How did… what? She didn't even know we were going out."
"It must have been the same from when she was here last." Iain shrugs. "She said not to make too expensive… I don't know whether she was being serious or joking though." Iain and Jeff begin to start walking to the pub across the road.
"Oh come on, you've had a life or death experience with her… you should know whether she's being serious or not." Jeff tuts looking at Iain not impressed.
"Eh? How do you figure that out? We're hardly best pals." Iain looks at Jeff walking along his hands still in his jacket pockets. "Although if she can afford that car, I don't imagine she'll be too bothered about us racking the bill up."
Jeff walks backwards in front of Iain, pointing his finger at him. "Exactly! Now get in that pub and get the drinks in. Let's test the new boss out." He grins turning around walking into the pub. Iain shakes his head looking to Jeff. He walks in holding the door open for the other team members walking in. He goes to the bar ordering the first round of drinks in, he didn't want to push it too far but he knew the rest of the team probably would. He sets the first load of drinks down, sitting down in his spot. He looks out the window seeing it was beginning to rain. He kind of wanted Comfort to come out with everyone so they could get to know her, but he also wanted to know what was so important she couldn't come out with them all. He sips his pint before looking to the rest of the team laughing as he gets pulled up to join in with the karaoke. His thoughts turn to the song he's singing, instead of Comfort.
