I don't own Naruto
Chapter 2
Orphanage, Konoha
Living in an orphanage is not as bad as it sounds. Having lived in an orphanage in my previous life, I was fairly well accustomed to the environment.
We usually woke up pretty early, helping the matron prepare breakfast.
"To survive the upcoming storm, called the Second Shinobi World War, I need a plan." I thought.
I picked up a piece of paper and a pen and started writing down some ideas. My main focus is obviously the academy.
Get physically fit. Need strong body to survive.
Visit Academy Library
Unlock Chakra and train up reserves asap, look up leaf sticking exercise.
Become proficient in the academy three.
Become rookie of the year.
Make friends (optional)
That was my list currently, sure it was nothing special but at least I have a starting point.
"Masashi come on, we have to go now!" my roommate called me from the door. With a sight, I tucked away my note and grabbed my backpack. "Coming!" I answered.
"You seem different Masashi, you alright?" he asked me on the way to the academy.
"Yeah, just a lot to think about, you know? Now we are academy students, on our way to become ninja, it's just so exciting." I lied. He seemed satisfied with the answer.
I quickly realized, that the ninja academy is not as hard as I imagined. The fact that I was mentally 21, certainly played a role in that.
The most interesting subject for me is history. It is an entirely different experience learning about the history of the world through a lecture instead of through short glimpses in an anime.
Physical training is also fun. The problem is: My stamina is not good. I can barely run two laps without feeling my lungs start to burn. I definitely need to work on that.
Tanaka-Sensei said we will start our taijutsu training soon.
Taijutsu sadly is the only ninja art we will be learning in the first two years. That was something that surprised me when I first heard of it.
In the beginning, the academy will focus its curriculum on general subjects, like math, science and geography. The last four years are mainly focused on ninjutsu and genjutsu.
A good thing for me, so I have more time to prepare.
Academy, Konoha
RIIIINNNGG…
"That's enough for today!" our Sensei said after the clock stopped ringing.
"Finally…" I mumbled. It is not that the lessons or the physical training are too hard, rather spending the whole day in the company of little children is getting on my nerves.
So, that's why I excused myself and headed straight towards the academy library.
The academy library was a relatively big and open room with shelves lined around the walls. In the center of the room where a few tables and chairs.
"Hello dear, can I help you?" a kind feminine voice asked from behind me.
Turning around, slightly startled, I come face to face with an older woman, with graying hair. She was wearing a green kimono and had her hair done into a bun.
"Eh, yes… I was looking for a few scrolls about chakra. Could you point me in the right direction, please?" I asked after a short pause.
"Of course, just follow me. Oh, my name is Yui Matsuda by the way, I am the librarian here." she said with a small smile towards me.
"Masashi, first year student." I replied.
Standing in the back of the room parallel to one of the shelves containing the scrolls, the librarian pointed at the top row, and began to speak. "If you want to start learning about chakra, you should start here." taking a scroll from the shelf, she continued "I recommend this scroll, especially.".
"Chakra - Origins and History" it read.
"You should read this scroll first, before starting with practical exercise." she warned.
"Thank you, Matsuda-sama" I replied politely, a small smile making it's way towards my face. "Can I check this scroll out to study it at my place?" I asked.
"Yes, but you have to be careful and responsible with the scroll. Furthermore, you should keep it not longer than a week, before returning it." I nod at that and thank her again.
After checking out the scroll, I make my way back to the orphanage to study it.
It took me just a day until I was back at the library again.
The librarian looked a bit surprised that I was back again so soon and asked if I was already done studying the scroll.
"Yeah, it was fascinating." I smiled.
"Mind if I quiz you a bit to check if you understood it?" the older women asked.
"Sure, no problem Matsuda-sama" I replied with a small smile.
She rolled her eyes. "You don't need to call me Matsuda-sama, it's fine to call me Matsuda-san or Yui-san" she told me "Anyway, first question: Chakra is a combination of two parts, what are they called?" she questioned me.
"Chakra is a combination of inner spiritual and physical energies" I replied quickly.
She looked pleased and continued: "Excellent, one more: What is the most commonly used method to control and mold chakra?"
"The most common method to archive this is to use hand seals" I was very confident in my answers, not only because I read the whole scroll and didn't sleep very long, but because I had a lot of foreknowledge from the anime.
"Good job… Masashi-kun, or what was it?" She said, unsure of my name.
"Thank you, Yui-san, and yes, my name is Masashi."
"Very well, I guess you want to check out the scroll about the steps to unlocking your chakra." She knew the answer to that question and made her way to the shelf in the back of the room. With expertise, she picked up the slightly dusty scroll and handed it to me. "Now go, I think your class will start soon." she lightly scolded me with a small smile on her face.
"Thank you." I replied, already on my way to my class. In my hand, a scroll titled: "Chakra - How to find it in yourself".
Hey, Chapter 2 is now live.
The following chapters will contain a little more action, I promise. :D
I will try to incorporate a few facts about chakra and later on different jutsus here and there, I always enjoyed those myself.
Like always, please read and review :)
