Chapter 13: Morgana's Mistake

When Harriet and Angelina appeared next to the Quidditch Pitch, it took Hermione less than three seconds to throw a hug around her friend.

"Merlin, Harriet, don't ever do that to me again," said Hermione, practically breathlessly.

"Easy there," said Harriet, "I'm all cut up."

Hermione let go and looked Harriet over. She was indeed all cut up. There was a big gash on her face, and one big gouge and lots of little cuts on her arms.

"Sorry," said Hermione, "I just…"

"It's okay," said Harriet, "I'm glad to see you too."

"Where's Cedric?" came the voice of Amos Diggory.

Harriet's face fell.

"I've got this," said Angelina, who Fred had just cut loose. She walked up to Amos.

"I'm sorry," said Angelina, "One of the Death Eaters killed him. Harriet was fighting Voldemort, and she was beating him. Voldemort ordered him killed to distract her. If it's any consolation, Harriet immediately killed the man who did it.

"I… no…" said Amos, falling to the ground. Angelina's parents both ran over to comfort him.

"Hagrid," said McGonagall, "Take Harriet to the hospital wing. Now please."

"Right," said Hagrid, who walked over and picked Harriet up in his arms.

"I can walk!" insisted Harriet.

"But's better for yer if yer don't," said Hagrid.

Hagrid carried Harriet away as Amos began sobbing.

"Damn," said Ron quietly. Hermione nodded and patted him on the shoulder. Hermione nodded at Angelina, who was busy being hugged by Fred, and insisting she was fine to McGonagall. Angelina nodded back.

After a coyole of minutes, Hermione turned to her parents. "I'm heading to the hospital wing," she said.

"Okay, let's go," said Helen, her voice surprisingly subdued.

The set out from the Quidditch pitch. As they left, Hermione saw Hagrid running towards his hut. Without Harriet.

"Hagrid," demandes Hermione, "What are you doing, where's Harriet?"

"Ah, she told me they needed a few herbs she did," said Hagrid, "So I left Harriet safe with her."

"Madame Pomfrey?" asked Hermione, confused. How could he get to the hospital wing so fast?

"Nah, Professor Solaire," said Hagrid.

Hermione stood dumbstruck for a moment. "Where did they go? Which way?"

"Well, to the hospital wing," said Hagrid, "Professor Solaire was quite clear on that."

Hermione grabbed her runestone. "Where are you Harriet! I need to know! I need to know now!"

There was no response.

Harriet had heard Hermione's call. But the moment Morgan had been out of earshot of Hagrid, she had simply said, "Well done, you completed your task."

And suddenly, Harriet didn't care about anything else. She followed Morgan to the second floor classroom they were now ensconced in willingly.

"We do not have much time," said Morgana, "we must complete the geas. I will reward you."

And Morgana bent down slightly, and kissed Harriet on the forehead.

"Your reward is a place at my side, as my partner, and if necessary, my successor," said Morgan.

And suddenly the whole world shifted. The magic suppressing Harriet's will settled in, and something else seemed to emerge out of it. Something very different.

But that feeling was overwhelmed by something else. Something Morgan hadn't intended. The geas dug deep into Harriet's mind. And suddenly Harriet was no longer in a classroom on the second floor. Instead she was looking out at a snow covered garden. And beyond was a castle. Not just any castle. Harriet recognized it as the original Hogwarts castle.

Harriet swore. She was somehow in one of Morgana's memories. But suddenly the pressure that had been there before, that told Harriet not to think about all the things Morgana had done, it was gone. Instead something else hovered in Harriet's mind, a hammer waiting to fall. She wondered what would activate it.

A woman stood in front of her. She was tall, much taller than Morgan Solaire, and bulkier as well. Her hair was the same raven dark as Morgan's which led Harriet to wonder whether it was an affectation. Her eyes though, those eyes were utterly unlike Morgan's. There was a hate in them, something Harriet had never seen except in the eyes of Voldemort. Yet this hate was not cold, but was fiery, like the hate of Bellatrix Lestrange, but far more intense.

With one wave of her wand fire consumed the gardens of Old Hogwarts. The gazebo-like structure in the middle of the grounds that had been so key to finding Ravenclaw's study was consumed. Smoke surrounded the school.

Morgana Pendragon advanced, her wand held rigid at her side. Behind her were a few dozen other witches and wizards, but no one dared advance before her. She walked through the fire unscathed, and where she walked the fires quelled.

"To the so-called Professors of Hogwarts," screamed Morgana, "I have come for the Holy Grail."

Harriet didn't know how she could understand the words, which were in old Engliah, and she didn't care. This was the most terrifying thing she had ever seen. Yet she couldn't look away, even though she knew how this ended.

"Morgana," said a voice. A woman who was not quite as tall as Morgana, but slightly stockier stood on the walls of Hogwarts Castle. Her hair had once been dark, but now was mostly grey, and her face was lined with marks of age and sorrow.

"This will not help you," said Rowena Ravenclaw, for who else could this be, "Stand down. Let us speak. There is no need for hostility between us. What I did in Avalon I did for your protection. Do not do what cannot be undone."

"For my protection I have been barred from Avalon?" demanded Morgana.

"Quite so," said Ravenclaw, "For with the dark power you have you are capable of harming yourself more than any other. The power of the keystone would only make that worse. Rather than see you destroy your very soul, I would have seen you dead. I see I was too late, yet even now, it may not be too late for you to change your own heart."

"Silence!" roared Morgana, "It is clear that you will not submit. But you have no chance against me!"

And suddenly Morgana waved one hand in front of her, as if she was casually swatting a fly. But the result was not casual. The front wall of Hogwarts, two of the towers, and much of the main keep collapsed all at once, as if a giant had kicked them.

Ravenclaw was unperturbed though. She had leapt down from the wall and stood calmly, facing Morgana.

"This battle will not go the way you expect," said Ravenclaw, "Surrender."

Morgana thrust her wand forward. "Charge!" she screamed. The witches and wizards accompanying her leapt forward.

And were immediately met by a wave of servants and elves from the castle. Badly outnumbered, Morgana's attack immediately faltered. Morgana was about to intervene, but a short half-elven woman leapt up and began casting at Morgana. It was Helga Hufflepuff!

Helga's spell caused many of the burnt vines to come alive and grab Morgana. Even as this happened a bald man with a mustache shimmered into existence. Salazar Slytherin, realized Harriet. Threads of darkness came out of his wand, wrapping around Morgana entirely. Ravenclaw began casting her own spell, summoning a thick paste which sealed the cracks in between the threads of darkness.

In moments Morgana was completely immobilized. Then a tall man with a bushy silver grey beard leapt forth, brandishing a sword. It was Godric Gryffindor, and he walked up to Morgana and thrust his sword through the bindings, right where her heart should have been.

Gryffindor crowed in victory, but both Ravenclaw and Slytherin's reactions were the opposite. They seemed to think they had failed.

"What's wrong? We killed her!" insisted Gryffindor.

"No, we didn't," said Slytherin.

A black mist began to stream out of the bindings they had made for Morgana. Suddenly it reached out, and with four giant hands, it picked up all four of the Founders and threw them all in a single heap on the ground. The mist then condensed in front of them into Morgana.

"Impossible!" insisted Gryffindor.

"That's a stupid thing to say," said Morgana, "It just happened!"

"Stop this Morgana," said a new voice. A man walked out calmly, and stood between the Founders and Morgana. Harriet recognized him, it was Percival, her own ancestor. In one hand he held a sword, in the other a wand.

"You cannot stop me, Percival," said Morgana, menacingly.

"I am a Guardian of Atlantis," said Percival, "I will stop you."

Morgana raised her wand hand and brought it down like a hammerblow towards Percival. Percival raised his sword arm and a powerful blue magic shield emerged from his sword. Her attack drove Percival to his knees, but his shield did not break.

"Why…" struggled Percival to say under the weight of Morgana's attack, "Why do you… want the Grail… so badly."

Morgana ceased her attack. "I want to heal Arthur," she insisted.

"Impossible," said Percival.

"The Grail's power to heal..." began Morgana.

"Does not extend to the dead!" roared Percival, "It's been two years! Why do you think I didn't bring it to him? He died a year ago, which I discovered when I returned to Britain."

"But why didn't anyone tell me then?" demanded Morgana.

And suddenly Morgana jerked, her whole body suddenly caught in an involuntary convulsion. And a gaunt man stepped out from behind her.

"Because I knew it would distract you," said the man, "Do not spend your last energy trying to fight this. The curse I placed on this blade will kill you."

"Merlin," said Morgana breathlessly as she fell to the ground. Black tendrils of magic began to flow out of her body.

"The Darkness is leaving her," said Merlin.

Morgana opened her mouth, but for a moment only blackness came out. The founder all came over and stood over her, with Merlin and Percival. But after a while she spoke.

"What have I done?" she asked weakly, "I feel as if my head is unclouded for the first time in years."

"You are dying," said Merlin.

"Temporarily, perhaps," said Morgana, "But I will be reborn. I used the ritual you brought back from India, Merlin. But my soul is damaged. I cannot be trusted. Tell the future generations not to trust me. Even the slightest amount of Dark Magic will corrupt me."

"I will let them know," said Merlin, "And I will do something about the Darkness."

Morgana nodded. "Godric, Helga," she said, "i am sorry that I destroyed your school. And that I burned your beautiful gardens."

She turned to Slytherin, "I'm sorry I failed your vision," said Morgana sadly, "I wanted to save the magical world. Instead I fear I have killed it."

"We will survive," said Slytherin, "Even if we must turn inward, the magical world will survive."

"Rowena," began Morgana, before she hesitated, "I… I failed you. You tried to warn me, but I insisted on my path. I fell to the darkness you warned me of at long last. I am sorry. I wish I had listened to you."

"I will miss you," said Rowena Ravenclaw, bending over and kissing her on the forehead.

Morgana gasped. "Percival," she said, struggling to get out the last words, "I should not have pursued you. I... owe...you... a… debt…"

And then Morgana Pendragon passed away. And suddenly Harriet was torn from the memory. She was back in the classroom. And she could feel Morgana's mind against hers. Could read it from a distance. And Morgana's thoughts suddenly flooded Harriet's mind.

Morgana had betrayed her. She had worked with Voldemort. The Darkness was awake within her. Dark magic was always part of her. Morgana was falling for her. Darkness was coming. Morgana knew why the Anti-magic spell failed. This hadn't been supposed to happen, Harriet wasn't supposed to see Morgana's mind. The geas had been too tight.

That was it. The geas no longer compelled her mind, but Harriet's body. Her thoughts were free.

"Hermione," thought Harriet, "You were right. Send help. Morgana has betrayed us! I'm in a classroom on the second floor, the second abandoned one from the back stair."

"You can communicate with Hermione telepathically?" asked Morgana, "Well, I didn't anticipate that."

"Please," said Harriet, "Let me go. I don't want to go with you."

"Sorry Harriet," said Morgana, "I can't allow that. You will have to come with me."

Harriet tried to run, but she couldn't. Only her mind was free.

"I don't want to go with you," begged Harriet "I don't want to leave my friends. I don't want to be alone."

"Oh Harriet," said Morgana, "We won't be."

Harriet's blood ran cold.

"Harriet's in classroom 212!" Hermione roared at her parents, "Tell that to McGonagall, and tell her that Morgana has her!"

Hermione didn't stop. She had already re-entered the school. Now she immediately ran towards the stairs to the second floor. It didn't take long to reach the classroom. The door was closed, but Hermione drew her wand.

"Confringo!" shouted Hermione.

The door blasted in. Hermione rushed into the room, only to find Morgana standing there calmly, her wand at the ready.

"You really did well," said Morgana, "Anyone other than me, you'd have beaten. You really would have. But I don't leave these things to chance."

"Diffindo!" shouted Hermione. Morgana deflected the spell as if it didn't matter in the slightest. And with one sweep of her wand she threw Hermione against the wall behind her in the corridor.

"Come, Harriet," said Morgana as she left the room and walked over to Hermione. Harriet followed.

"Hermione!" said the voice of Hermione's mother. Hermione turned to see both of her parents standing there.

"Why didn't you get McGonagall!" cried Hermione, "I told you to get her!"

"Professor Solaire, what are you doing?" demanded Robert.

"Oh, I am not hurting her, nor do I intend to," said Morgana, "I just needed her to calm down."

"RUN!" screamed Hermione.

"I am very upset Hermione," said Morgana, "you misjudge me. I will not harm your parents. Why would I? They can't harm me at all." The last sentence was said with menace.

And Morgana released Hermione. "Neither can you, realistically," said Morgana, "But I am glad you came nonetheless."

"You see, you have made one big mistake, Hermione, one very big mistake. You see, the reason I used a geas on Harriet was twofold. Now it is true that I wanted her to keep more of her independence once the geas was in place. But if I had wanted to kidnap her, it would be easier to place a geas on her afterwards. So the easiest thing would be to use the Imperius to kidnap her, and then use the geas. But you see, Harriet is resistant to the Imperius, so that wouldn't work. Instead I layered the geas."

"Why are you telling me this?" asked Hermione, suddenly very unsure of herself.

"Well, Harriet is resistant to the Imperius, which is why I couldn't use my original plan on her. But that doesn't apply to you."

And it suddenly hit Hermione what a huge mistake she had made.

"Imperio," said Morgana.

XXXXX

Harriet watched Hermione stiffen. She cursed her inability to do anything!

"What did you do to our daughter?" roared Robert.

"I am commanding her," said Morgana, "I will not hurt her. In fact I mean to turn her into one of the most powerful witches in the world. She will be my apprentice, along with Harriet."

"No she will not," said a firm voice, "Neither of them will be."

And Albus Dumbledore strode between Hermione's parents and Morgana, his wand pointed straight at her.

"Finally recovered your wits from Harriet's aura?" laughed Morgana, "You really did fall for it, didn't you?"

"I did," said Dumbledore, "but my head is clear now. And I see you for what you are. But first…"

"Mr. and Mrs. Granger?" he asked, "If you would go downstairs and find Professor McGonagall, that would be very helpful. At the very least take a few steps back. Your presence here is not currently helping your daughter. I promise you, she won't be going with Morgana, but if you stay I cannot promise your safety."

"Right," said Robert, "Honey, get McGonagall, I'll stay and watch from a distance."

Helen nodded and both of them retreated.

"Good," said Morgana, "I had no desire to harm them. Keeping them out of the line of fire is good."

"I am glad that you agree," said Dumbledore, "I suppose it is futile to ask you to not attempt this abduction?"

"Would you allow me to teach them Dark Magic if I stayed here?" asked Morgana.

"No," said Dumbledore.

"Futile indeed," confirmed Morgana, "They will need my lessons."

Dumbledore nodded. And suddenly his wand sprung to life. A burst of air flew from his wand, but Morgana cut through it contemptuously. But it was followed by not just air, but tiny glowing specks floating in the breeze. They went over Morgana, and suddenly all her movements slowed.

Morgana grinned. "I got cocky there. Well done old man."

A fire erupted from Morgana's robes, burning the glowing particles to dust. Then the fire migrated, all gathering at the tip of her wand. She sent it out in a surge, headed straight for Dumbledore. Dumbledore exhaled and his breath became a stream of cold air. The fire of Morgana's spell went out.

"Waste not, want not," said Morgana with a shrug. Her movement had returned to normal. Suddenly she moved to one side, then unleashed a series of silver slashes. Dumbledore easily deflected them, but on the heels of the last one he discovered that Morgana had followed in closely. With one hand Morgana cast a powerful spell at Dumbledore, point blank range. Dumbledore deflected it up.

And Morgana grabbed his wrist. She dragged him to the nearest wall, then slammed his hand against the stone. Dumbledore managed to hold on to his wand, but then Morgana slammed Dumbledore's hand again, this time pulling it into the doorway and slamming his wrist against the doorframe. Harriet heard a snap as Dumbledore's wrist broke, and he dropped his wand. Morgana cast a single spell and Dumbledore was down on the floor, unable to move.

Morgana kicked his wand away behind her. "Funny how it was my relative youth that won the day," she said triumphantly, "The truth is, if we had continued with spells, the result would have been the same. It would just have taken much longer for you to tire out."

"I will hunt you down," said Dumbledore, "and I will free these girls from you."

"No, I don't think so," said Morgana, pointing her wand directly at Dumbledore again, "No hard feelings Albus, but I can't risk you actually being successful."

Morgana was going to kill him! And as Harriet thought that, she felt Morgana's presence diminish, the control over her body vanish. The geas was gone! Dumbeldore's eyes twinkled as he saw Harriet free herself. Harriet drew her wand. And she knew exactly what spell to use.

Morgana began to cast her spell, but even as she did, Harriet yelled, "Annihilate!"

And Morgana's spell exploded, causing her to fall back, her wand now shattered beyond any repair. Harriet followed this up with an "Incarcerus," which bound Morgana in ropes.

"Well done Harriet," said Dumbledore, "Well done! I didn't actually think that you would save me, but I am very grateful that you did."

"Thank you, sir," replied Harriet, "Well it was a very clever plan you had. It would have been a pity if you died executing it."

"I must say, I am impressed," said Morgana, "How did you break my geas?"

Harriet began to laugh. "Morgana, your arrogance undid you. Once you had immobilized Dumbledore, all you had to do was take Hermione and myself, and leave. You would have won. And I have no doubt that eventually we'd have bent to your will. But instead you decided you were going to kill an innocent person."

"Dumbledore, innocent?" chided Morgana.

"Innocent may be a strong word, but he didn't deserve to die," said Harriet, "And you know me; I try to save everyone I can, whenever I can. It's my nature. Such a weak geas could not stop me from doing the thing I am most motivated to do. So it broke."

"Oh my, that was silly of me," said Morgana.

"And of course, Professor Dumbledore knew that you would try to kill him if you beat him," said Harriet.

"If you won, the girls would be freed, if you lost, Harriet would break free," mused Morgana.

"I said that the girls would not be going with you," said Dumbledore.

"Speaking of which, am I going to have to make you release Hermione?" insisted Harriet with a waggle of her wand.

There was a long pause. Morgana looked conflicted for a moment. Then she sighed and shook her head.

"Why not?" agreed Morgana, "without you there isn't a point anyhow. You'll need her more than I will."

Hermione gasped as the Imperius left her, and she ran over and hugged Harriet from behind.

"The two of you are more clever, and more powerful than I ever dared imagine," said Morgana, "It truly has been an honour to teach the both of you. Now I only want to know one more thing. You beat me with my own spell. How did you know it would explode like that?"

"Well, you were trying to kill Dumbledore," said Harriet, "The Anti-magic spell always explodes when it hits dark magic. It only explodes when it hits dark magic."

"Bullshit," said Morgana, "I've had it happen against normal spells many times."

Harriet sighed. "Morgana, the dark magic on those occasions wasn't from the spell you targeted. It was from you. There's darkness within you, and there has been since your reincarnation. And you haven't always managed to contain it."

"So, I can't even use my own spell properly," said Morgana bitterly.

"Yeah, I guess it's my spell now, isn't it?" said Harriet, "But it isn't too late you know. You could still help us. Your knowledge could still be used to help defeat Voldemort."

"Harriet!" objected Hermione, "She helped kill Cedric!"

"I'm not proposing that she not pay for her crimes," said Harriet, "Just that as she serves her sentence, she could help us."

Morgana smiled. "Powerful as you are, you are still quite naive. Let me be clear. Voldemort is a minor inconvenience compared to the coming storm. I released Hermione to you so that you can defeat him; but rest assured, he is your problem. I have mybown duty. Magic is failing, and only I have the knowledge and power to save it. Maybe you have the power, but the knowledge is mine. So I will not be cooperating. I do not intend to, as they say, go along quietly."

And suddenly Morgana transformed into her raven form. She flew down the corridor over to where she had kicked Dumbledore's wand. She clutched it in her talons, then transformed back to human.

"We'll meet again Harriet Potter," said Morgana, "Hopefully, on that day, you'll see that I'm right. This world needs you to help me lead it. And we must take that responsibility, no matter the cost."

And Morgana apparated away.

"Dammit," said Harriet furiously.

"Do not be angry with yourself Harriet," said Dumbledore, "You could not have stopped her from escaping."

Harriet offered Dumbledore her hand and helped pull him off the floor.

"Hermione!" shouted Robert, running over to his daughter and hugging her.

"Let us get to the Hospital wing," said Dumbledore, "And then you can tell me what happened, Harry."

Harriet nodded, and began to lead Dumbledore to the infirmary.

XXXXX

Some time later, Harriet was finishing her story. Most of her cuts and abrasions had been healed, and Madam Pomfrey was now working on Dumbledore's wrist.

"So we now know why they tried to put Harriet in the tournament," said Sirius, who had arrived midway through Harriet's story.

"Yes," said Dumbledore, wincing as Madam Pomfrey probed a sensitive part of his wrist, "Morgana seems to have her own agenda."

"She does," said Harriet, "Despite what she said earlier, she despises Voldemort. I felt it in her mind. She has no use for pureblood supremacy."

"What does she want?" asked Sirius.

"She wants to rebuild the Atlantean runestone," said Harriet, "A noble enough goal, I guess. I can even support it. The problem is not her goal. The problem is that her addiction to The Darkness colours all of her decisions. And it won't wear off. Simply put, she is incapable of considering any road that does not lead to her regaining access to The Darkness."

"This is where you were wrong Hermione," said Harriet, "Morgana doesn't want to kill either of us, but if she thinks we imperil her plans to get access to the Darkness, she will. She is an addict, and will do anything for her next fix. Except her drug of choice is infinite power."

"Yes," said Dumbledore, "That makes sense."

"You should have killed her, Harriet," said Hermione.

"Hermione!" shouted Helen, clearly surprised at her daughter's blood lust.

"She's too dangerous to live," insisted Hermione.

"Perhaps," said Dumbledore, "But if Harriet had killed her then, in cold blood, when Morgana was disarmed and incapable of fighting back, I think the results would have been worse. Harriet cannot be allowed to become a dark witch. If she does, the world is probably doomed."

"You see, the prophecy that foretold Harriet's birth was part of something larger," explained Dumbledore, "Harriet is part of something larger. Every so often, a threat to all magic emerges, and in response magic creates a new life with the ability and power necessary to deal with such. Voldemort was one such threat, and Harriet was the life spun into the world that had the ability to defeat him. Yet there is no destiny here. Harriet can succeed or fail. All she is, is potential. But if Harriet were to fall to Darkness now, or join with Morgana or Voldemort, who could stop her? Within ten years she or they could easily take control of the world. There isn't time for magic to create a new hero."

"Is Harriet that powerful?" asked Robert.

"More powerful than you know," said Dumbledore, "Yet her power comes from her wisdom. She learns not just from her own mistakes, which is a rare thing, but from the mistakes of others, which is rarer still. It took me a very long time to get to a point where I could do the same. She has the power and wisdom to eclipse me. What she lacks is knowledge, experience and control."

"Once she has those things, she will be the most powerful witch in the world," finished Dumbledore.

"I don't know what to say," said Harriet, "I don't think anyone should treat me any differently. It seems wrong. Why should I put my power over others? What gives me the right?"

"And there is her wisdom," said Dumbledore as Madam Pomfrey stepped back, and he began flexing his newly healed wrist, "She knows her limitations. She knows that if she tried to take control, the world would be worse off in the end."

"Morgana was right, you are powerful, but she is also wrong. That which she thinks makes you weak is actually your greatest strength," said Dumbledore, "Well, your second greatest strength." He looked at Hermione and Sirius as he said the last.

"I think you should provide a sleeping draught for Harriet tonight," said Dumbledore, "A dreamless sleep would do her good. For when she awakens we will be at war."

"It is already prepared," said Madam Pomfrey.

"Can I… have a moment alone with Harriet?" asked Hermione, "We have… there's something that can't wait. I'll make sure she takes the potion."

"Is it absolutely necessary?" asked Madam Pomfrey.

"It is," said Hermione, "I need to clarify something. It will be a load off of her mind."

"Very well," said Pomfrey. All the other adults left, while Madam Pomfrey put up a privacy screen all around them, then silenced the whole thing. She left the potion on a tray by the bed.

Hermione climbed onto the bed and motioned for Harriet to lean back onto her. Harriet lay down, her head on Hermione's chest. Hermione wrapped her arms around Harriet.

"You're a lesbian, aren't you?" asked Hermione.

"Yes," said Harriet simply.

"You are falling for me, aren't you," said Hermione.

"Yes," said Harriet, a tremor in her voice.

"So there is one thing I want to make very clear before I say anything else," said Hermione, "You are my best friend, and no matter what happens, I love you, and will continue to love you. Do you understand?"

"Yes," said Harriet, the tremor in her voice getting bigger.

"I think I'm bisexual," said Hermione, "I know I'm falling for you. I just don't know how it is best to proceed. I think, if it was just our peers, we could probably openly date each other. But you have an importance in magical society, an importance that might make you a target to adults if we are openly lovers."

"Yeah," said Harriet sadly.

"So we will have to keep this at least a little bit secret," said Hermione, "but we can discuss the details later. For now..."

Harriet turned her head to look at Hermione. And Hermione bent her neck down, and kissed Harriet on the lips. Harriet wrapped her arms around Hermione's neck and for a long moment they clung to each other, as their lips melted together.

After a moment, Hermione pulled back. "Time for you to rest Harriet," she said, "We'll discuss this more tomorrow."

And Hermione gave Harriet the potion. Still, she continued to let Harriet lay her head on her breasts until the girl was fast asleep.

Author's Note: Obviously this is a huge turning point in the story. Up until this very chapter, I think there was a very real possibility that Morgana would 'return to the fold,' so to speak. It would have required Harriet to kill Voldemort though. You might be thinking, "Wait? How could Harriet kill Voldemort while he still has horcruxes?" Well it is possible, but it would have required Harriet to do some pretty remarkable things. Harriet was actually fairly close to completely losing it and if she had... well Morgana would no longer have needed to force her into using dark Magic.

In fact, that was originally what I had planned to happen! Harriet and Hermione would have slowly been corrupted by Morgana in their remaining years at Hogwarts, and then would disappear only to reappear and take control of the magical world. And I still may write a variation on this ending at some point just for fun. But ultimately when I merged the Morgana story with the Guardians story there was no way to keep that element in while still having Harriet ultimately join the Guardians.

This does not mean the Morgana story is gone, it just takes on a very different form. For the most part, the story has been following the Morgana story primarily while the Guardians stuff has happened in the back ground. For the next two parts, it will now reverse, the Guardians story will take front and center while Morgana, while still around, will take a backseat. But this part still has one more chapter to go!
