Part 1

Guilty until proven innocent.

After her answer was attained, Asuka stormed away from the deck and into her cabin to think things through.

She had gone back in time. The revelation scared her so much the girl was sure she was close to having a panic attack. After all the loss and humiliation she experienced in the closing months of her previous life she'd have to go through it again.

The mere idea of the 15th angel being alive terrified her. What if she got consumed by the 12th's dirac sea? Could she defeat the 14th angel this time? What of the Eva Series?

There was so much that could go wrong. Could she make it through and kill the Eva series while avoiding getting caught by the other angel's traps?

She had too many asinine worries. She could do it because she was Asuka Langley Soryu, Second Children, pilot of Evangelion Unit 02. She and her Mama could do anything together, beat any angel or Eva together.

They were an invincible team. One that mere monsters could not destroy.

Now that her old determination had soothed her panicked mind, the redhead could focus on what to do for the rest of the day. The 6th angel would appear and she would have to interact with Misato and that piece of shit, Shinji. The girl was not excited.

Still, she had to get out of the stuffy, cramped cabin eventually.

After fixing her yellow sundress, Asuka walked out of her cabin and down the metal corridors of Over The Rainbow as she searched for the tour group. She walked boldly with long, strong strides, ready to face her roommates again.

She walked into the mess hall and scanned the area. There were just a few random crewmates. The redhead sighed and left the hall, her auburn locks trailing behind her.

She turned a corner, then another and then onto the deck. Walking across it, the pilot once again found no trace of her desired targets. With another sigh, Asuka once again continued her search.

The girl recalled her memory. If she was right, they had visited the captain of the ship about the umbilical cable they had brought with them.

They must then be in the cabin.

Once again, the Second Children navigated the small, iron corridors of Over The Rainbow. After a minute's walk, she reached the elevator and pressed the call button.

The constant waiting throughout the day had worn the girl down. Just a few hours ago she was fighting the greatest fight of her life and now she was on a dreary old ship searching for a drunk commanding officer and three idiots.

Her red shoes tapped the ground impatiently for the elevator to arrive. The bell chimed as the doors opened and Asuka was about to walk through when a black and purple mass shot towards her.

The prodigy reacted immediately and without delay. She grabbed the object and flipped it upside down while keeping hold of the arm, ready to break it. It was only then that she realised she just bodied the jock stooge. Oops.

Asuka turned towards the elevator door to see a worried Shinji, a smirking Misato trying to suppress a laugh and a Kaji half way between amused and surprised. Oh and Kensuke was filming some rust in one of the corners.

After a second of bewilderment, Asuka Langley smiled like a schoolgirl and waved at the residents of the elevator.

"Hallo, Misato!" She called with fake enthusiasm.

"That was quite the entrance, Asuka." Misato replied in turn, still recovering from her giggling.

"Well he did fly towards me without warning. I was just defending myself."

"You haven't changed Asuka."

Misato continued, "This is Asuka Langley Soryu, the Second Child."

'Wait, Child? Not Children?'

The Third Child then began to stutter a greeting, looking terrified that Asuka would make him eat rust too. It was exactly what she wanted from the boy, "H-Hello Soryu-San. I-I'm Shinji, Shinji I-Ikari. A-uh-nother pilot just like you!"

Asuka glared at the boy and he shrunk down. "How did this wimp get picked as a pilot!" The redhead shouted, "He can't even greet me without barely stuttering it out. 'H-h-h-hel-lo A-A-Asuka. I-I-I'm c-c-c-c-cannonf-f-fod-d-der."

"Asuka." Misato warned. Asuka just glared at the Third and walked off. The 6th angel would arrive soon. She would need to be ready at her Eva, by her mother's side. She couldn't stand being by that bastard any longer anyways.

Toji was still recovering from the harsh blow that dealt extreme damage to both his body, and his pride.

EVA

After the short trip from Over The Rainbow to the cargo ship that transported her Unit 02, (She couldn't remember the name of it at all) she crossed under the yellow blanket and into the temporary housing unit for the Eva.

She slowly walked over towards Unit 02's four-eyed head, gently placing her hand on the chassis.

"Hallo Mama." She whispered in her native tongue. For a brief second, the Eva's eyes lit up. At that moment, Asuka Langley Soryu knew she would be alright. She finally had her Mama back.

A sudden rumbling caused the girl to stumble on the floating walkway. She would finally be able to see some action again.

A few minutes later, after having gotten changed, Asuka sat in the entry plug of her Eva, the LCL filled. Her hands shook and her breathing quickened slightly. This was her first time in an Eva since the Eva Series massacred her body, having torn it apart with their teeth and talons.

A warm sensation wrapped around the pilot, she felt more at ease, the horrible images in her mind faded to the background. There was no need to worry. She'd killed this thing before easily. Now it would be a simple piece of cake.

"Eva Unit 02, Activate!"

Unit 02's eyes glowed a bright green as it rose from the top of the boat, its armour rustling in the process. Asuka heard the sound of waves fast approaching. With elegance and grace, the red and orange unit leapt into the air, covering a huge distance to the next boat in seconds.

In the background, the Second Children could hear Misato arguing with that old captain who she was sure was old enough to drop dead any minute. She turned off her comms and continued her journey to Over The Rainbow, the young Soryu didn't need to hear that distracting ruckus.

She hopscotched from one boat to the next, not pausing for more than a second. Thank Gott that Misato managed to react quick enough to get the power cable ready.

With one last great leap, Asuka crashed onto Over The Rainbow, almost capsizing the carrier with the Eva's weight. After a bit of balancing, Unit 02 was able to get the vintage vessel level and plugged in her umbilical cable.

Last time she'd fallen into the water and had to pry the jaw of the 6th angel open to allow battleships to ram themselves into the core to destroy it. Now the girl had a different idea.

Asuka and Unit 02 waited patiently for the angel to reach her, it took no more than a few seconds before its massive carapace breached the surface as it sped towards the two.

The 6th angel dove into the water as it neared its target and surfaced, speeding into the air. The angel crashed onto the carrier and Unit 02 immediately began trying to pry the monster's jaws open.

The whale resisted against Asuka, trying to throw the enemy Adam spawn off of Over The Rainbow. This time around, the Second Children watched her footing and without the idiot to act as thought noise it was much easier to focus.

After a lot of wrestling around, Asuka was able to pry the angel's jaws open and she pushed them wide apart revealing the glowing core inside. The pilot smirked as she set her A.T. field to full power. The girl hadn't used her prog knife because of what lay in the right pylon of every Evangelion.

The young Soryu leaned her Eva over and the right pylon opened up and with a trigger pull, 9 highly sharpened spikes shot out at near Mach speeds towards the target's core.

The spikes embedded themselves deep into the red crystal, blood pouring from the newly formed cracks. Unit 02 then raised its right leg and let out a heavy kick, sending the spikes deeper. The core began to dim until it became a cracked, bleeding orb.

With a heavy shove, Asuka pushed the angel carcass into the waters below where it would stay for a long time. The redhead smiled at her triumph.

Yes, she could do this. This time she would win.

Part 2

I think I might just smile

It had been about a week since the 6th angel had been killed. Another difference had been established as well. The angel had been named Gaghiel. Previously the angels were only named by their number of appearance.

4th angel

7th angel

13th angel

Etc.

Asuka theorised that she had not gone back in time but rather into an alternate version of the timeline she had been born into. More proof of that was a decently large personality change from the First Child.

Rei Ayanami.

Here Rei was simply just a shy girl here instead of the doll she'd been previously. Her red eyes were replaced by hazel brown eyes but her blue hair remained. She was also Shinji's cousin. The Second Children didn't know if this was something new or just something she never picked up on previously.

It would make sense as to why they were so chummy with each other.

Now that Rei was an actual person this time, Asuka wanted to befriend the shy girl. Unfortunately she still lashed out at the girl from time to time, the memories of her past experiences with the bluenette and her own childhood trauma made it very difficult establishing so much as an acquaintance.

By now the 7th angel should've arrived as well. Another irregularity. There was so much going on it made the red pilot's head hurt.

The documents for her moving from her temporary housing quarters to somewhere more permanent had been finalised.

'Asuka Langley Soryu was to move to housing block D in the southern end of Tokyo-3 in room 95.'

Finally, her own apartment. No idiot Shinji and no drunk Misato. She still did miss PenPen though. That animal was probably her closest attachment in Tokyo-3 outside of Hikari and Kaji.

Speaking of the freckled girl, Asuka had once again made quick friends with the class rep. The girl was the same as last time, strict and absolutely smitten with the braindead jock.

Things were certainly looking up for the Second Children.
