After I get to the staff lounge, I see my parents getting ready to leave.
"I'm going to go out for dinner with my friend."
"There's been a change of plans tonight. You need to be home by seven-thirty so we can go on patrol," Dad says.
"Okay. Got it. We're going on patrol because of what happened earlier today, right?"
"Yup."
"Okay bye."
As I'm walking off the school grounds I speak into the mic.
"Where are you?"
"Send your coordinates."
I walk to an alley and double-click the necklace, sending the coordinates. A warp gate appeared and I backed away so I'm not caught in it and tapped my earpiece turning it off.
"Hello, Shigaraki!"
"Hello."
"Let's get dinner. There's this good udon place just around here.
"Okay."
We arrive at the restaurant and the smells of udon hit us like a wall as we enter the small restaurant. We sit down at a table with Shigaraki across from me.
A waitress walks up to us and asks, "What can I get you guys to drink?"
"May I please have a Sencha tea," I say.
"Pepsi," Shiggy adds.
"Okay. How many bowls of udon would that be?"
"We'll have two, please," I respond.
After a couple of minutes, the waitress comes back, giving Shigaraki and me our drinks and udon. We sit in silence for a while and then I break it.
"Well as you know this kid in my class can steal quirks."
"I thought only Master could do that."
"Well, he's not," I say as we finish eating and I pay for the food.
After we're done, we head out and just walk around the city. I look down at my phone, seeing that it's six.
"I need to be home by seven-thirty. We still have time though."
"If you do help us, I'm guessing you need a way to change your look."
"Yup. Like this?" I ask as I make my hair down to my waist instead of my shoulders and change it to white as I change my eye color to red.
"You look like a different person."
That's when I'm yanked into the alley we're walking by. I summon a sword of shadows, my hair fully defining gravity, as Shigaraki grabs his hand that's usually on his face out of his pocket and puts it on his face. I trip over a rock, losing my balance as I'm pulled into the alley.
"Shigaraki!"
With one arm behind me, I twist my body, dissipating the sword, punching my captor in the face. I jump back, one arm in the air, the other on the ground.
As I look at my potential kidnapers, I see there are three.
"You really need three people to kidnap one?" I ask brushing myself off. "Pathetic."
"You need help?" Shigaraki asks.
"What do you think?"
"No."
I summon a pole of shadows and toss it to Shigaraki. He catches it, one finger elevated.
"You can use all fingers since shadows can't be destroyed. Do you want to get a couple of hits in?"
There's no response and I summon another pole of shadows. I create a wall of shadows blocking off their only other exit. They'd have to go through us. I charge for the one who had captured me and hit him in the side with the pole.
He curled over in pain and I go for the one in the middle that looked like the leader. I summon two daggers, having them hover around me as I control them to stab the man, his white shirt turning red where I stabbed him.
Shigaraki goes for the one that I haven't hit and hits him in the head with the pole of shadows. I notice that the leader had black wings like a bat and I teleport behind him, summoning a sword of shadows, cutting off his wings.
I teleport to Shigaraki, dissipating my weird daggers as I wrap the shadows around them, lifting them and banging their heads together.
"Can I kill them?"
"No. Let them spread our names," I say as I release them into a heap. "Tell all the villains, don't mess with the Queen of Darkness or..."
"Shigaraki."
"Now run off," I say as I let the wall of shadows down and the villains ran off.
I look down at my phone as I change my hair and eye color back, seeing that it's seven twenty.
"I should probably head home," I say. "Queen of Darkness is kind of long. It would take too long and it'd be awkward to call me that while we're fighting."
"Yeah, it probably would."
"What if you guys called me Hel?"
"Sure. I'll see you tomorrow," Shigaraki says as a portal appears and he walks through, disappearing as it closes.
I teleport home, changing into my hero outfit, and leaving out my earpiece. As I walk into the living room, I put on the earpiece I always use for patrol, seeing Dad sitting on the couch napping with one of our cats curled up on his chest. I walk over to him and shake his shoulder.
"Wake up. It's seven-thirty, Dad."
"I'm up. Let's go."
After we get to the rooftops of the buildings in the city, we wait, looking for villains. As we're watching, we notice a group of people meeting up in an alley.
"I'll go and see what they're doing," I say as I wrap the shadows around me, making me invisible and creating platforms like stairs.
"Be careful."
"I will," I say as I start running down the shadow steps, dissipating them behind me.
As I get down into the alley, I see that it's the villains who tried to kidnap me earlier and they're with others.
"Beware of the Queen of Darkness," the one whose wings I cut off says to the small crowd they have. "She cut off my wings."
"Doesn't matter, we have jobs to do," one of them says creating a sword from his palm.
I reach up and touch the earpiece. "Eraser," I whisper. "They're villains."
"I'm coming don't do anything."
"Okay, but I won't let them get away."
They start to split off, going to other exits. I bring up a wall of shadows, blocking all their exits but the one I'm at.
"It's the Queen of Darkness," the one without his wins says in fear, as Dad drops down from the roof, and I become visible again.
The villains try to attack but Dad uses his quirk on them. I wrap my shadows around them, picking them off the ground and banging their heads together, strong enough to knock them out.
Dad notifies the police and they come within a couple of minutes. We leave the villains with them and head back to the rooftops.
"Eraser."
"Yes?"
"I've had a tip that there may be an attack on UA tomorrow."
"Where'd you hear this?"
"I heard it as I was passing an alley earlier today."
"Well, we'd better be on guard during the training tomorrow."
"Yup."
That's when a building starts to go up in flames.
"Guess we're going to be busy tonight," Dad says as we start to run across the rooftops.
As we get closer, I see that it's an apartment building. I teleport to the ground seeing a man with black spiked hair and burnt purple skin on his face. He turns to me and tries to attack me with his blue fire. I bring up a wall of shadows and let the shadows surround me, my hair lifting all the way up, defying gravity. I bring the wall of shadows down and teleport to him. I see his eyes are a bright blue and he takes in my face backing away, as if he recognized me even though we've never met.
I look at him, then at the building. I make the decision to run in there, the building going up in orange flames instead of blue. The pro hero, Backdraft arrives and tells the bystanders to stand back. I run in as Backdraft starts to put out the fire.
"Persephone! No!" I hear dad call and I ignore him, double-clicking my necklace as I start to run into the building.
"It's too dangerous!" Backdraft shouts at me.
"Does it look like I care!" I shout and Shigaraki walks out of the warp gate. "Shigaraki, follow my lead!"
"What?" he asks confusedly as I grab his wrist. "I just woke up," he adds rubbing his eyes with his free hand. "What's this?"
"A fire and you're going to help save people."
"You guys can't do it! You'll die!" Backdraft shouts at us and we ignore him.
On the first floor, there are five apartments.
"Dust the doors."
"Okay?" he says and runs, dusting the doors.
I run into each room wrapping my shadows around each person. I've gathered ten people when I run into the last room, gathering another person. That's when I hear two cries. I run into another room seeing that the ceiling had caved in on the bunk bed with two children still in it.
"Shigaraki, the ceiling and bunk bed."
He rushes over understanding what I'm saying and disintegrates the part of the ceiling and the bunk bed, I grab the children and he disintegrates part of the wall. I run out, Shigaraki behind me, with the people wrapped in my shadows, and hand them off to the paramedics. We run back in and we run up the stairs.
There's debris blocking the stairway and I say to Shigaraki, "Can you clear a hole so I can see through it?"
"I think so," he says as he puts his hand on the debris creating a hole.
"I'm going to try something new," I say as I grab his wrist and wrap the shadows around us teleporting to the staircase behind the debris.
I open my eyes, seeing that we're past it. I run up the rest of the stairs, Shigaraki behind me. He disintegrates all the doors and I call to all the people, none of them traped and they come to me. Shigaraki disintegrates a wall and I create a platform of shadows, ushering the people onto it.
I send them down to the paramedics and we keep repeating that step till we get to the top floor. The building is starting to creak and I'm ushering the people onto the platform seeing them down when we hear a cry. I run to the room that's all the way at the end of the hallway and see that there's a child who got stuck. A piece of the roof fell on them. A solid slab of concrete.
"Shig," I said tilting my head and he disintegrates it.
I grab the child and run to the disintegrated wall, sending her down to the ground on one of the platforms. After what happened, I decided to run down the steps to make sure no one was left behind. As we got on the third floor, the building came down around us. In instinct, I surround myself with shadows, solidifying them like armor. I wrap the shadows around us in a tight dome as we fall, hearing the crash of the building.
I hear a heart-wrenching scream from outside. I realize that as we fell, Shigaraki wrapped his arms around me.
"Sorry," he says releasing me and scratching his neck.
"It's fine. Now let's get out of the rubble."
I release the dome and Shigaraki starts to disintegrate the rubble as I create a platform underneath us, bringing us up as he disintegrates more rubble. Soon we can see light as Shigaraki dusts the second to last layer. As soon as he disintegrates the last layer, I bring the platform higher so we're fully out of the rubble.
I grab his hand and he leaves his pinky elevated. I use the platform to bring us down to where the pros are. I walk us to Backdraft and flip him off.
"See, we're alive," I say and Shigaraki releases my hand and goes to scratching his neck.
I lead him to where the paramedics are and we sit in the back of the truck. They hand us an oxygen mask and tell us to place them on our faces.
"Would it be possible for me to have two gloves and scissors for a sec?" I ask as I notice the position of Shigaraki's hand on the mask.
"Sure," the paramedic says, handing me the gloves and scissors as I wrap the band of the mask around my head so both hands are free.
I take the scissors and cut the thumb and pointer off of the gloves.
"Shig."
"Huh?" he asks tiredly.
"Give me your hand," I say and he does. I put on the glove saying, "This should make it easier to hold the mask. Also, sorry for waking you up so late."
"It's fine. Thanks for the gloves," he says as I finish putting the other glove on for him. I look at him and start laughing as I take in his hair. "What?"
"Your hair, it has soot all in it."
Dad rushes over and wraps his arms around me. "Don't ever do that again! I can't lose someone again," he says tears falling.
"Sorry," I say as I embrace him.
"You're okay, right? How did you survive?"
"I all good. It's all thanks to Shiggy that all the residents and I are alive," I say as I wrap my arm around his shoulder, pulling him towards me.
"Thank you for saving her. Is he your boyfriend?"
"Why does everyone think that? No. Eraser, remember the friend that I met up with after school? This is him."
"I'm Shiggy."
"It's nice to meet you. Hizuki it's pretty late we should head home soon."
"Mhm," I say as Shigaraki and I take off our masks and head to where the reporters are. "Follow my lead Shig."
"You guys saved fifty-two people and then survived being crushed by two stories. How did you do that? Are you a new hero?" the media starts asking.
"One thing at a time. First of all, we worked together."
"How did he just appear?"
"Citizens don't want all their private info on the media," I say as I notice he's scratching his neck, starting to draw blood. I grab his wrists and continue, "He's not even a pro, just one of my friends."
"Are you two dating? How come he's still in his pajamas?"
"Sorry about that," I say to Shigaraki, putting my cape around him. "We're not dating and I woke him up in the middle of the night, what do you expect? A civilian to be fully clothed and ready for battle? No. I just dragged him into the fire, and told him to follow my lead."
"Are you going to become a hero?" they ask, directing it at Shigaraki. "What's your name."
"I'm not looking to become a hero."
"I think we're done here," I say as I pull us to where there are no media to pester us.
As we're walking back to where the rest of the heroes are, Shigaraki suddenly passes out and I catch him before he can hit the ground. I pick him up and carry him to the paramedics.
"What happened?"
"He just passed out," I respond.
"It's probably from exhaustion but well make sure it's just that."
After a couple of minutes, they come back and tell me it's from exhaustion. I pick him up, take his phone out of his pocket, search for Kurogiri's number, and call it.
"Yes, Shigaraki?"
"This is Hizuki, Shiggy passed out from exhaustion. I'll send my coordinates."
"Got it," Kurogiri says and I hang up the phone.
I put the phone back in Shigaraki's pocket and head over to where my dad is.
"What happened to Shiggy?"
"Exhaustion. I'm going to take him to his home and drop him off. I'll see you soon," I say as I double-click my necklace and a warp gate appears in front of me.
I walk through the portal and end up in a small living room with Kurogiri sitting on the couch.
"I can take him," Kurogiri says getting up.
"It'll be easier if I just carried him. Don't need to wake him up."
"Have it your way, at the end of the hall is room."
"Got it," I say as I head down the hall, passing five other rooms.
As I enter the room, I see that his bed is in one corner of the room with the sheets messed up as if he had rushed out of bed. I lay him down and pull the covers onto him. I leave the room and head to where Kurogiri is.
"Why are there so many rooms?"
"If you think that's a lot, there's another hall with six more rooms."
"That never answered my question."
"This is our base when we're not at the bar."
"I'm guessing when that small TV over there is on," I start pointing at the TV behind the couch. "Is how AFO communicates with you guys."
"Yup."
"It's getting cold out and Shig still has my cape."
"Just grab one of the sweatshirts from his closet."
"'Kay," I say and I teleport to Shigaraki's room.
I grab one of the sweatshirts and put it on over my shirt, teleporting back to Kurogiri.
"I have to go," I say teleporting away to my dad, not waiting for a response.
"You're back. Come on patrol's over," Dad says and we start to walk.
"Let me try something. Could you give me your hand?"
"I'll trust you on this," he says as I wrap the shadows around us, teleporting us home.
I open my eyes to see our living room. "Yes!"
"New progression with your quirk."
"Yup, guess it comes with stress," I say laughing.
"You have a sweatshirt on."
"Yeah?"
"It's not yours."
"Yup it's Shiggy's. If we had to go over the roofs, I would have been freezing without my cape."
"Oh, well, good night."
"Good night," I say as I enter my room.
