"Why didn't you wake me when you guys came home?" I say my voice raised.
"You barely had any sleep the night before. You needed sleep," Dad says. "Anyways, I'm fine. I just have a scar," he adds, pointing to the scar underneath his right eye. "I shouldn't have healed this fast even with Recovery Girl's help."
"That'd be Izuku's doing. He stole Nomu's healing quirk and gave it to you. I'm glad you're okay."
"Izuku could benefit from the healing quirk."
"Yeah, but if we keep getting attacked, it might be better if you had a healing quirk. I've been analyzing Zu's quirk. I think I know how to help him with his quirk."
"That's good. We need to head to school."
"Yup." I grab my parent's hands, wrap the shadows around us, and teleport to the staff lounge. Releasing their hands, I say, "Hello All Might. How's your wound?"
"Better."
"Good. I should head to class," I say as Dad and I walk out of the staff lounge. "Dad, are we going to talk about the sports festival?"
"Yes."
"So, hero names are needed."
"Yes. Head to your seat."
As I sit down, Dad heads to the front of the class.
"As you all probably know, every year UA hosts a sports festival where pros can recruit you for internships."
"That's so normal," someone says. "Come on! We just had a villain attack."
"It's necessary to show that UA's crisis management protocols are sound. Also, there will be extra security. UA's sports festival is one of the biggest events in Japan. Getting the attention of famous heroes will get you a higher status and more experience. Remember, time is limited. If you get noticed by a pro, that gives you a head start on a brighter future. This is a chance you only get once a year. A total of three chances. You can't overlook this if you aim to be a hero."
After class, most of my classmates huddled together in excitement. I head over to where Izuku and Ida are.
"Are you guys excited about the sports festival?" I ask.
"Yeah but..." Izuku starts.
"Don't worry about a villain attack. I'll make sure that nothing happens. Also, there will be multiple pros there."
"Okay."
"Deku. Hizuki. Ida," Uraraka says. "Let's crush it at the sports festival."
"I know we will," I say.
"We should head to lunch," Ida says.
As we're walking down the stairs, Izuku asks Uraraka, "Why do you want to be a hero?"
"For the money."
"You wanna be a hero for the money?"
"Yeah, I guess. I know it's not really hero-like, but I'm doing it for a good reason. I'm so embarrassed."
"Don't be! What on Earth is there not to admire about wanting a comfortable life?" Ida asks.
"Yeah though it is unexpected," Izuku says.
"My family owns a construction company but there's no work. We're flat-out broke."
"You're doing it to help your family. I'd say that's admirable," I say.
"With your quirk, you could get a license to use it for your family's construction company. It would be economical," Izuku says.
"I know! That's what I told my dad. But... He said I should focus on what I wanted. I'm going to become a hero and make tons of money, no doubt. I will give my mom and dad the easy life they deserve."
"Uraraka bravo!" Ida shouts.
All Might comes from behind the corner shouting, "Ah! There you two are! Midoriya my boy! Hizuki! Would you two care to eat lunch with me?"
"Sure," Izuku and I say.
Walking to the break lounge I make sure my mic is on.
"So, your time limit is fifty minutes," I say.
"Yes."
"This is bad," Izuku says.
"Yeah. My current limit is getting shorter all the time. I can only keep my muscle form for an hour and a half if I'm stretching it."
"Oh, wow," Izuku says. "I'm so sorry."
"You don't need to apologize, boy! We're very similar. But more importantly, let's talk about the sports festival. As it stands, you can't adjust One For All."
"But he does have a second quirk that is the same as All For One. He could also use that one."
"But, how are we going to deal with your control of One For All?"
"Now that you mention it, once against that villain with the brain sticking out," Izuku starts.
"Nomu."
"I didn't feel any recoil," he continued.
"What was different this time?"
"I used it against someone else for the first time."
"So that means you subconsciously limit the percentage you used. That's progress. By the way, remember how we were talking about control of your quirk?"
"Yeah."
"I've been analyzing your quirk. It seems like you can handle using your quirk at a small percentage. You also seem to be using it like an on and off switch in one part of your body. You should use it in all parts of your body and a lower percentage so you don't hurt yourself. Got it."
"Got it."
"You know Zu. You should really use that mind of yours and not just your quirk."
"That's good to hear since my time as the symbol of peace is quickly running out."
"Right," Izuku says.
"And among those with villainous intent, there are some who have realized that. I granted you my power so you could succeed me! The sports festival is an event that the whole country will be watching! That means that just one thing for us! You. The next All Might, the fledging symbol! I need you to tell the whole world, I am here!"
"You're putting too much pressure on him. Also, if he says that line and people see his quirk, they'll think he has the exact same quirk as you."
"Oh."
"Yeah. It's getting close to the end of lunch. I need to go see my dad. See you soon Zu," I say walking out of the break room. Walking to the staff lounge, I whisper into the mic. "How you doin' Shig?"
"Better."
"That's good. I'm going to see if I can get you a ticket to the sports festival."
"Why?"
"You're my friend. I thought you might want to cheer me on."
"Fine."
Entering the staff lounge I look for my dad. "Hey, Dad. Do you think I could get a ticket to the sports festival for my friend?"
"Which friend?"
"Shiggy. The one who was with me during the fire."
"Sure."
"Thank you."
