Chapter Four
City Hall
WARNING: This chapter involves character death.
Ready for a much needed rest, Catra arrived at her small apartment. Only to find the door locked.
Using her magical super strength, she bust the door down. Slicing the lock open would just be easier to track back to her, and she definitely did not need to be dealing with charges.
The place was devoid of all her belongings.
She was evicted.
A growl was her only response to her current situation.
This was just great.
-
After a quick call to the people who supervised the Garbage Truck schedule, The Magicat was able to track down the truck that had her property. Specifically, her mask.
A few failed finds later, she found her stuff, and some trouble. What were these street thugs doing here? Who cares, they need a good smackdown!
The Magicat leaped onto her closest opponent, and gave him the ol' one two! And then she dodged an incoming enemy.
She flipped forward, and kicked him in the head, then she punched him into the guy behind him, then she gave a strong kick, knocking the both of them down.
The thug behind her, mustered enough courage (Or stupidity) to try and get her from behind. She heard his incoming footsteps, and swipe kicked him, then she jumped onto his chest, knocking the air out of him.
The Magicat turned to the last guy, and pounced onto his shoulders, getting him off balance. She swung backwards, throwing him into the wall behind.
She hasn't lost her touch.
The Magicat went back to dumpster diving, and pulled out a red mask. The source of her powers.
A Runestone.
Two green gems adorned the front of the crown, resembling a cat's eyes.
After she wore it for the first time, she gained a special connection with the mask. It's the only thing she'd keep safe out of all of her belongings.
Since her mission was a success, she decided to head over to Adora's place and get some sleep. Only to find a blog on her latest adventure with Officer Micah. Guess she'll have to find someplace else to rest.
On her patrol, The Magicat found a strange set up on a rooftop. She figured she had some time to check it out.
There was a radio, and it out came a voice she thought she wouldn't hear for a long time.
"Hello, my feline friend." Said a smooth voice.
'Not him. Anyone but him.' The Magicat inwardly groaned.
"I've been thinking about you lately." The voice admitted. "We've had some fun together, hadn't we? Maybe it's time to re-ignite the flame…" The voice trailed off.
Ugh. Robin Hood. A.K.A Bow. A.K.A Her ex. After she found out he was a burglar, they broke up. She vowed to never go out on a blind date again.
She doesn't want to deal with him anytime soon, so she decided to sleep at F.E.A.S.T.
-
Time Skip.
Catra woke up, and found Madame Razz, just a few feet away. After she sat up, she noticed the envelope with money. She couldn't take it.
"I can't this." She told Razz.
"Nonsense deary." Razz Replied.
"I'll pay you back. Soon." Catra promised.
"Never be afraid to ask for help. Stop being so stubborn, Catra. You're as mortal as anyone else." Madame Razz wisely told her.
Before Catra could say anything, Wrordak knocked. "I apologize for the interruption-- I just wanted to let you know I'm headed out of town. You're in charge while I'm gone, Madame Razz." He said.
"Madame Razz will take care of everything! How long will you be gone?" The old lady asked.
Wrordak hesitated before answering. "I really don't know." He somberly said.
"Is everything ok?" Catra asked slowly.
Wrordak turned to her, and answered. "It's some personal business I've been planning for a while. But… please take care of this place. It represents the best part of me." He smiled.
Once Wrordak left, Catra thought it was best to get to work. There was a celebration at City Hall today, and she wanted her schedule clear for it.
-
A Lashor Construction Site was on her agenda today. How a guy can cause so much trouble without trying to, is something to think about. He's incarcerated, even.
A big truck was driving off from the area. It was probably best to keep note of it.
The Magicat scaled the building, and got herself a good view of the situation. The Beasts were attacking Lashor's men.
"Micah, I'm here." She informed.
"What do you see?" He asked.
"Looks like the Beasts are moving in on Lashor's territory." The Magicat responded.
"You got this?"
"I got this."
The Magicat needed to get some answers first, so she took the quiet route. If she casted an invisibility spell on herself, she'd just lose magic preserves. Three years of practice, and she still has difficulty using it.
Mind control is out of the question. Not only is it a Master's spell, it's also illegal.
She'll stick with sound warping! Not only is sending a knock across the room easy, it also saves up on a lot of magic!
She can get passed the guards, no problem!
'How they don't figure out why there's unexplained noises is beyond me.' The Magicat thought to herself.
She found an Lashor worker cornered by Beasts. "Not today." The Magicat muttered, then leapt into action!
Four Beasts. This won't be so difficult. She waited for one of them to make the first move. Countering an attack at the start is a good strategy, you'll find.
Just as predicted, one of them goes for a punch. The Magicat counters with a kickflip, and throws him away. The next guy, she drop kicks, then she moves onto the next. The goon moves in to grapple her, but she quickly jumps overhead.
The Magicat quickly kicks him down, leaving him more open to attacks. She jumps and slams into his chest. One guy tries to get her from behind, but she won't be taken down so easily.
She turns and kicks him in the head. The fight's over.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
The Lashor employee's phone starts ringing, but before he could answer it, The Magicat's tail swipes it.
"Hey Tung." She greets cheerfully.
Tung Lashor, clad in an orange jumpsuit growls at her.
"I'd say that's the best suit you've worn." She joked.
"Stay out of my business!" Lashor growls.
"Wait! The Beasts-- who's their leader?" The Magicat asks.
"Keep my men alive, and maybe I'll tell you."
Well, that's just great! She barely has enough time for this already! If she's gonna meet up with Adora at City Hall, she's gonna have to hurry up.
Even if she left Lashor's men to their fate, It'd get on her conscience. She's gonna have to clean this up before it turns into a mess. The fact that Lashor's men were mostly unarmed made it even more difficult.
The first group, she intervened with a kick, getting everyone's attention. The Magicat slid under her opponent, and kicked him in the back. She turned and gave the next guy a roundhouse kick.
"You probably should've practiced fighting more!"
The next goon tried punching her, but she dodged and countered with a punch of her own. Someone from behind punched the back of her head, but she kicked him away before he could do it again.
"That was a cheap shot!"
Someone approached her cautiously, and leaned when she swung to hit him. He hit her, so she retaliated by giving him a swipe kick, knocking him on his back. She jumped and slammed against him, and she bounded to someone else, kicking his jaw.
She moved on to the next group, locking a goon's head and flipping him over. Her next opponent swung, but she rolled over and kicked him down. The next guy, she pounced onto, then she started punching.
A goon came up from behind and slammed into her, knocking her off her feet. He raised his arms to crush her, but he was kicked off. The Magicat pulled him up and threw him to one of his allies.
The Magicat moved to another group, she flipped forward and kicked someone in the head. She swiftly moved to the next guy and punched him in the face. The goon in front of her tried to punch her, but she did a backflip and kicked him down.
"The last guy doesn't give up, even when I beat all of his pals on my own." The Magicat muttered.
Once she was done with them, she spotted a helicopter, flying over head. The last thing she expected was for a hulking man to jump out! Ugh, this is gonna hurt.
The Magicat readied herself, waiting for the first attack. The brute moved in to hit her, but she jumped and kick him in the head. This did nothing but annoy him, so he swung, and sent her flying.
Before she could come to her senses, the brute kicked her down. He raised his arms to crush her flat, but she rolled and clawed his back. That's definitely gonna leave a scar.
He swung his arm again, but she ducked, then she drop kicked him in the face. This one disoriented him, just enough to get another good hit in. The Magicat leapt on top of him and continued to elbow his face in.
He quickly grabbed onto her, and threw her away. He was about to stomp her, but she jumped up and kick flipped three times as hard, and knocked him unconscious.
She spotted the helicopter on the roof, so she went to check it out. The last Beast was about to leave, and without saying goodbye! The Magicat hastily grabbed a steel cable, and wrapped it around the copter's support. She'd definitely know how to handle a whip.
Unfortunately, the strength of the helicopter was too much, and the cable was pulling something heavy off.
"Oh no!"
Great! Now there was a mobile wrecking ball to take care of! And the chopper's getting away.
The Magicat jumped onto the next building, and sped to the next.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
A phone call? From Mermista?
"You've reached your friendly-"
"You better take care of this. Now!"
"Yes Ma'am!"
The Magicat leapt onto the helicopter, gaining the attention of it's passengers. With her claws, she scratched one of it's engines apart. A Beast opened the side door, and swung a bat at her. She dodged and headed for the next engine.
Just like the previous one, she tore it apart. Causing the helicopter to lose control. Thankfully, it landed as safely as a crashing helicopter would! And no one was hurt.
No one that was innocent, at least.
Looks like she saved the day again.
-
Down in the streets below, a teenage girl with pink hair watched The Magicat's latest victory!
"Oh my gosh, she took down a crazy helicopter! I am saving this one!" She squealed, re-watching the video she took.
This fangirl's name is Glimmer. And she was running late for the celebration! But it was so worth it!
Glimmer went to meet up with her parents: Micah, and Angella. They were at City Hall, with banners all over the place, adorning Horde Prime's face. "Re-elect Prime for Mayor" they said.
"Sounds like a lot of people out there." Micah told them, a hint of nervousness in his voice.
Angella smiled to him. "You'll be fine, dear." She told him.
"The last time I gave a speech, I was in high school. I was given a C minus." He admitted.
Both, Angella and Glimmer chuckled at his reminiscence.
"Hey. You got this, Dad. You saved The Magicat! You're the best Cop in the City!" Glimmer beamed with pride.
"Best Cop in the City? Well, I would do anything for you. The both of you." Micah said, before hugging Angella.
Glimmer and Angella went into the crowd, while Micah went to receive his Medal of Honor.
-
While the Deputy Mayor was saying his part, in the crowd, Adora started up a conversation.
"So…?" She asked.
"I think the Lashor problem might be finally over." Catra replied.
"Like… like, Over-over?" Adora turned to Catra.
"I mean, there's some loose ends to take care of. But…" Catra trailed off.
"Loose ends?" Adora questioned.
"Well, a truck pulled away from the scene. Something's not right about it… just don't know what."
"Maybe after, we can grab some coffee, and figure it out together." Adora suggested.
Catra smiled. "Sure." She agreed.
"How 'bout, instead of coffee we could have dinner instead? I'll cook." Catra suggested.
Adora turned her full attention to Catra, knowing what she was suggesting.
"Or, coffee's fine." Catra's face burned red, at Adora's giggling.
Back to the Ceremony, Horde Prime just gave Officer Micah the Department Medal of Honor. He was also informed of a badly timed phone call.
As he was being escorted, he answered the person who was calling him.
"Yes?"
"I've worked many years for this moment." Said a distorted voice.
"Ah, little brother. Starting your revolution, I presume?" Prime chuckled.
"You will pay, brother." The caller spoke the last word with as much hate as he could.
Horde Prime knew he was in no real danger, he stayed calm as he retreated from the City Block.
Catra, having very a very acute sense of hearing, heard the conversation. Everyone was in danger. She had to do something.
Making her way through the crowd, Catra spotted Wrordak behind the crowd.
'What's he doing here?' She thought to herself.
She could see his eyes. They were green like always, but they were glowing. It clicked in her head, this was his doing.
But it couldn't be.
She knows him.
Did she?
BOOM!
Everyone panicked at the explosion. Glimmer, who saw what was happening, screamed for her Father.
"Dad!"
Micah turned around to see the Deputy Mayor, with C4 strapped to his chest. Micah quickly put a shield around the both of them, hoping to contain the explosion.
Catra, who couldn't do anything else, jumped into Adora.
BOOM!
She took the force of the explosion.
She was knocked out.
-
Glimmer woke up, ringing in her ears. Everyone was running.
Her Dad. She had to find her Dad!
Glimmer got onto her feet, and she started looking for her Dad. He's a powerful sorcerer, he had to have survived. Everyday, he came back from work with a smile on his face.
And when she heard on the News, her Dad saved The Magicat, she couldn't believe it.
He was a Hero.
During her search, Glimmer saw these men in masks, and they were killing survivors. She had to find her Dad.
She was almost there. He was just there, right there. One of those men were just in the way. She grabbed a blunt object, strong enough to knock someone unconscious.
She ran fast, and swung hard. She missed and she was pushed to the ground, vulnerable to any danger. He raised his weapon, ready to kill her.
"Enough-- we have to leave. Now." Wrordak ordered.
Glimmer gasped a relieved sigh, she thought she was gonna die.
Dad. She remembered what she was here for, and she ran to him. To her horror, he was almost unrecognizable. Most of his face was burnt off, his uniform was a torn mess.
"Dad!"
Holding him in her arms, realizing he won't wake up… Nothing could be more painful.
"Dad."

This Chapter's done. I've made a few surprises, and I hope you enjoyed them. I am open to some ideas, if you were to suggest something, I might add it to the story. There are some characters that I've been having trouble finding a replacement for. This story is not gonna end like the game, because that would make it less interesting, and it needs to be anything but that.
