Prompt: CinnamonFreckle request for Pansy/Harry + soulmates
DD RaD June 2021 Pansy Parkinson/Harry Potter/Time Travel
Pansy woke slowly, not quite sure what happened. The last that she'd known was that Longbottom was attempting to show Slughorn his finished potion. But then, everything had gone dark. She felt weird, almost as if she'd travelled a long distance, but in reality, she was in the same room.
Pushing to her feet, Pansy brushed the dust from her school robes and glanced around the empty potions room. "They bloody well left me here alone…." She trailed off, confused as to why no one had tried to wake up or move her to the Infirmary.
Deciding she had better figure out what happened and what time it was, Pansy left the empty room searching for answers. She wandered the castle looking for her friends or anyone really. It appeared that classes were in session because no one was about the expansive castle. She had just passed by the DADA classroom when she was surprised again.
"Pansy!?" The witch didn't have time to react before Harry Potter grabbed hold of her to drag her into the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. "What are you doing here?"
"Oi!" Pansy said, shoving Harry away from her as soon as they were in the classroom. "Get your hands off of me, Potter!"
"This seems like a good time to ask you what year you think it is," Harry said, scratching at the back of his head. He was frowning and looked worried.
Pansy narrowed her eyes. "It's very obviously 1998, Potter." She gave him the once over and then frowned. "But why are you dressed like a professor? I thought you were on the run."
Sighing, Harry gently took hold of Pansy's wrist and guided her toward the classroom door despite her trying to pull away. Once out in the corridor, he showed her around the floor. "Pansy, it is 2010, and I have been teaching at Hogwarts for about six years now. I'm not sure what happened, but you seem to have come here from a different time."
Pansy took a sharp breath and then huffed. "I am going to bloody murder Longbottom when I see him again," she grumbled, realizing that his failed potion had apparently sent her into the future.
"Perhaps we shouldn't visit the greenhouse then," Harry said, smirking.
"What?" Pansy asked, narrowing her eyes at Harry.
"Nevermind," he said, clearly understanding that she wasn't in a playful mood. "I can't believe that you are here."
"Me either," she replied, staring at Harry in wonder. "Why are you acting so nice toward me?"
"This may come as a bit of a shock," Harry began holding up his left hand, "but we're married in the future."
Pansy's eyes went wide, and then she burst into laughter. She laughed so hard that her side began to ache. Clutching at the pain, she leaned against an empty table and tried to regain her composure. Clearly, Harry had lost his mind.
"There's no way we could be married," she said after finally catching her breath. "We hate each other."
Harry sighed and then came over to sit on top of the table she was leaning against. "Yeah, well, we did dislike one another quite a bit, but that all changed a year or so after the war ended."
"What do you mean?" Pansy stared at Harry, confusion on her brow.
"The Ministry was worried about the population of witches and wizards after the loss of so many lives," Harry went on to explain. "They created a spell that would help us find our soulmates."
"You're not serious." Pansy crossed her arms and glared at Harry as if he was making this all up for the sake of a good story.
"I'm not," he replied with a shrug. "When I turned twenty, I went and had the spell done, and it sent me to you. But, I will say this, you were rather stubborn when it came to believing the results. You insisted on doing it yourself."
"The results were the same?" Pansy asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"The results remained the same," Harry stated simply. "It was a shock for everyone."
"I was dating Theodore Nott- I am dating Theo, I should say," Pansy muttered, looking off to the side. "What happened to him?"
"He ends up with Ginny," Harry said and then smiled sadly. "We were both a bit sad that we weren't meant to be, but I think she and Theo are happy together. They have three kids."
"Do we have kids?" Pansy asked, her eyes going wide.
"Do you really want me to spoil it for you?" he asked, reaching out and taking her hand in his. "Isn't it bad enough you're here now before this all can happen to you?"
Staring down at where her hand touched his, Pansy was suddenly sad that her future had been spoiled for her. A thought suddenly occurred to her. "What if I can't get back to my time? What if I am stuck here?"
Harry laughed softly and dropped her hand. Hopping from the table, he wandered over to his desk and opened a drawer. "It's a good thing I decided to keep this gift you gave me for our anniversary. I think two turns to the right and six counterclockwise should do it."
He handed the item to her, and Pansy was surprised to find that it was a tiny Time-Turner. She smirked and met Harry's brilliant emerald eyes. "Future me remembers this."
"So it would seem," Harry said, smirking right along with her. "Now, hurry back so that I can see you soon."
Pansy threw her arms around Harry in a surprise embrace for the both of them. When she released him, her cheeks were slightly pink. "Sorry, it's just that I didn't know what else to do… I wish I could stay here because it seems like I could be really happy with you."
"We'll get here eventually, Pansy," Harry said, tucking a strand of her dark hair behind one ear. "You and I both have a lot of growing to do before our time begins. But, I promise when the time is right, and the spell is cast, you'll find the happiness you've always wanted."
Pansy looked at the Time-Turner in her palm and then back at Harry. "You can't tell me anything about how we fall in love?" she asked, still unsure this was all happening for real.
"It would ruin the surprise," Harry responded, taking a step back and sliding his hands into the pockets of his robe. "You're my soulmate, Pansy. My one true love and the future will be worth the suspense. Just wait and see."
Putting the chain for the Time-Turner around her neck, Pansy nodded. "Okay… I guess until we meet again, Pott-Harry."
"Until we meet again, Pansy." Harry smiled and waved a bit as he waited for her to disappear.
Still secretly vowing to get Longbottom back for probably causing her to fail her own potions project, Pansy twisted the Time-Turner as Harry had suggested. The room faded, and she was once against standing in an empty classroom, but presumably in 1998.
Sighing, Pansy removed the chain from around her neck to examine the Time-Turner closer. Engraved on the side were the words, Before Our Time. She smiled, knowing that someday their time would come. Slipping the Time-Turner into the pocket of her robe to keep for later, Pansy hurried from the room.
Harry was right; she had a lot of growing up to do before she was ready to fall in love with him, but she couldn't wait until it was time.
