Chapter 2: A vision leaving many questions
The two-tailed fox was sleeping soundly in his bed with Livvy. The moon shone over the clouds that had begun to move away. It was quite peaceful after the storm stopped. Something woke Tails up.
The fox opened his eyes to find himself not in his bedroom with Livvy, but a hellish place. It reminded him profusely of the Nether in Minecraft, a video game he and his friends loved to play.
"What the—" Tails gasped.
Everything was on fire, buildings toppled brutally. There was a fearful cracking of the land, as lava shot into the skies.
"Am I in Silver's future?" the fox finally finds his voice.
"Miles... Miles Wisp-Chromo Prower..." a voice rang, calling Tails' full name.
The voice wasn't speaking English at all; it was saying gibberish stuff. Somehow, Tails knew what the voice was saying.
"Wha—Who are you? Where am I? Most importantly, how did you know my full name?" said the fox, very confused and shocked.
He suddenly realized that he was somehow able to understand the gibberish the moment he replied.
"How am I able to understand your language perfectly?!" Tails asked, even more confused.
"Your world is in danger... so is mine..." the voice ignored the questioning fox.
"Huh? Show yourself!"
A shadowy figure appeared, behind the flames. It was small in size; it has a spherical head with three tentacles. He has a pair of antennae and a strand of curly hair. Tails couldn't tell what colour the figure was, but it was somehow familiar to him.
"Why does this seem like a deja vu?" the fox asked himself.
"Young hero," said the figure, "you are the one to prevent what you are seeing right now happen to both worlds. A lethal threat is lurking..."
"Where am I?"
"What you are seeing right now is Planet Wisp's destruction,"
The fox got confused, knowing that part of his middle name has the name of the planet.
"Wisp?" the fox scratched his head.
"The wisp is a race of aliens who possess an unknown bright substance, known as their life source. There are many types of wisps, all of them created by something I do not remember, unfortunately."
Tails nods, his curiosity starting to spark.
"Can you explain this 'hidden ability' inside of me?" he asked.
"My time is running out," the figure said, "you have a lot to learn, young boy. Your middle name, the alien race and the planet all having the same name is not a coincidence. Your ability is yours to discover and to master, to save everybody from an excruciating disaster caused by a lurking lethal threat."
"Um..."
"Time is expiring second by second, Miles Prower. You must go alone on this quest for knowledge and mastery. Your soul isn't made from one thing..."
Millions of questions flooded Tails' brain, it was threatening to explode.
"But..."
"Good luck, Miles Wisp-Chromo Prower," the figure said goodbye, slowly dematerializing. "everyone is counting on you. You are the colourful light to overpower the darkness..."
"Wait!"
His vision blacked out and felt someone shake him. Tails opened his eyes, sweating profusely. He looked at Livvy, who had her arms around him.
"Tails, are you okay?" Livvy asked sympathetically.
"Yeah..." the male fox lied, panting. "I'm having nightmares again, it's so annoying."
The fox knew that it was a vision. Livvy however, was oblivious to Tails' lie. She sighed, saying,
"It's okay, Tails. It's fake."
"Thanks, Liv," Tails replied. "Honestly, I feel like inventing a 'Lucid Dream Machine'. In that way, I can dream of our future when we get married or have kids at will! Would you want to dream stuff like that?"
Livvy blushed feverishly, unable to speak. Tails chuckled at his girlfriend's reaction. Soon, both went back to sleep, embracing each other tightly.
