Let Me Go To Heaven

"How long do we have?" Charlie whispered as Vaggie held her in their bed. Well soon its just gonna be Charlie's bed.

Vaggie glanced at the clock, "Less than 10 minutes my love. I should... I should get dressed." She didn't want to get dressed. She didn't want to leave the warmth and comfort and happiness that Charlie brought her. And Charlie didn't want to let her go. As soon as Vaggie moved Charlie tightened her grip on her, fresh tears spilling down her already wet cheek, "Oh Charlie." Vaggie hugged her tight, kissing the crown of her head.

They spent the whole day together. It was their last so they might as well make it their best. They went to their favorite spots, took pictures, laughed and kissed, recalled all the wonderful times together and have been making love for the past several hours. But underneath all the smiles, the kisses, the laughs, the pleasure was unmeasurable sadness and grief. Vaggie had to leave soon.

With a heavy sigh the moth demon forced herself to leave Charlie's arms. She heard Charlie sob and every fiber of her being screamed to hug her, to tell her not to be sad. But how could she do that when she herself was a crying mess.

Vaggie got dressed in silence. At some point Charlie did too, although her clothes was sloppily thrown on. Vaggie walked over to her, took her by the hand and walked to the balcony. There she hugged her, the tightest hug she ever gave anyone.

"You did it sweetheart. Your dream came true. You redeemed us, me, Angel, Husk, Niffty, Cherri, even Alastor. You did it." She whispered against her cheek, their tears staining each others cheeks.

"Please. Please don't go. Seeing them leave hurt so much. If I knew... if I knew I'd lose you too I never would have..." Charlie started sobbing again. Vaggie's hand gently running trough her hair.

"Yes you would. You're not selfish, you never were." Vaggie kisses her cheek, slowly and tenderly.

"I wish I was. Please just let me be selfish just this one time. Please." Vaggie could feel her soul break from Charlie's grief, from her own.

She shook her head, "You know that's not how it works. And you won't lose me. You'll never lose me. I love you Charlie. And I always, always will no matter where I am. You have to let go."

"I love you too Vaggie. Forever and always." Charlie kissed her girlfriend with everything she had, tasting both their tears, pouring all of her emotions into the kiss and it still didn't feel like it was enough. A light came shining down on Vaggie, illuminating a path for her, "Don't forget about me." Charlie whispered.

"Never my love. Never." Vaggie gave her one final kiss before she turned to the heavenly light. She took one step, then another and another, feeling Charlie's arms leave her body, feeling Charlie's warmth getting further and further. She didn't dare turn back, or else she would see Charlie's crying face again and lose all her will to go on.

Charlie watched Vaggie leave, the urge to unfurl her wings and go after her almost to too much to control. Then she was gone. The love of her life was gone. Vaggie always said Charlie was her light, but Vaggie was also hers. And now with her gone she felt a cold darkness in her heart. Charlie sunk down on her knees and let out a cry so loud she was sure even God could hear her. Maybe he'll show her, the daughter of Lucifer, mercy and return her lover to her. Or maybe he's up there, laughing about her misery.
