A/N: Thanks so much for all your wonderful thoughts.

Still trying to stick to the "official" definition of a drabble fic – 100 words per 'chapter!'

Please note, though, that 100 words do NOT include the A/Ns. ;)

Also, I'm already seeing the benefits for someone like me, who's used to writing long chapters, to writing a drabble fic when she's sorta somewhat writer's blocked. Sticking to 100 words per chapter kind of forces you to focus on what's important to tell with little room to get lost in your own head. So, let's see if this helps Muse out a bit. :)

Most characters belong to S. Meyer. The rest belong to me. All mistakes are mine.

Chapter 4 - Dauntless

It's hard not to stare as Edward situates my luggage in his truck. He's…grown up, but he's thirty-two now versus twenty-two then, so. Still partial to jeans and tee-shirts, though.

Inside the four-by-four, I prepare for a ride where only rain dispels deafening silence. Oh, questions, I have. It's courage I lack. And perhaps…the right to ask.

However, he's always been dauntless.

He opens with banal pleasantries. How's Mom? Dad? Aunts, uncles, chickens, goats, etc.

Then…

"So…how's life in London?"

If I'm real: 'It's successful…affluent…worldly…and…lonely.'

Split-second reply: "It's great."

He nods. "Worth the trade-off then, huh?"

Like I said, dauntless.
