Chapter 6 – Trade-offs
Present:
"It was never…never as simple as a trade-off," I finally say.
Edward glares at the rain pounding the windshield.
"Wasn't it? Then again, you had a way of complicating matters more than necessary."
"I…complicated…matters…more…? Edward, we were twenty-two and twenty. I had plans that were going to place an ocean and almost five thousand miles between us. What was uncomplicated?"
"What was un-? Know what? It doesn't matter now." He shifts gears, the truck roaring. "I just wanted some answers since you snuck out of my bed that last morning and never looked back. We're here. I'll grab your luggage."
