Kat Cavanagh: We're here interviewing the elusive head of the Tracy family.

Scott *waves*: Hi everyone.

Kat: So, Scott, how many kids do you have?

Scott *without missing a beat*: Biologically, emotionally or legally?

Kat *laughs a little nervously*: Why don't you start at the beginning?

It was a well-known fact that Jeff and Lucille Tracy just adored kids. Some said that they had no choice since they had five…

Not many people knew the truth though. In fact, only Jeff's parents and best friends Val Casey and Lee Taylor did.

Jeff and Lucy fell super hard for each other. Within two hours they had sickened Val and Lee so much the pair had left. By morning Jeff had proposed and Lucy accepted and she'd spoken to his parents.

They were married by the end of the week.

And immediately pregnant.

The pair talked non-stop about having a big family. Jeff had grown up with four brothers but Lucy had been an only child. Her parents had died before she'd moved to the States. She taught kindergarten and just loved the children.

Between them they decided on at least seven. Jeff wanted to complete his Mercury Seven set…and Lucy had laughingly agreed that if they were boys she'd go along with that. But if they were girls then she was going to name them after her seven favourite authors…

Unfortunately it was not to be, thanks to one drunk driver. Lucy spent weeks in hospital and Scott Carpenter Tracy was born three months early. The upshot of that accident was no more children.

The pair were devastated.

But Scott needed their attention. Twenty-six weeks old meant an incubator and an extended stay in NICU. Jeff had spent every spare moment shared between his wife and his child.

Scott was a Tracy, though. He was a fighter, and despite several scares he pulled through. In fact, he was ready to come home a couple of days before Lucy was.
